Olivia stepped outside for a walk in her garden. Sabastian on her shoulder, she walked around admiring the beauty. She had only been in Vermont a week. The tabloids had a new story every day about Olivia, the astronaut and their kids. In some tabloids, their story was a fairytale romance. Other tabloids called her a crappy mom for abandoning the kid she had before Fitz. Olivia knew it was going to be problems when an interview with Amelia was a headline news story. She was getting dinner, and a reporter asked why she wasn't in Vermont. Amelia said that she had her own house in DC, and that she wasn't living with her mom in Vermont. Hours later, there were news stories about letting 16 year old's live alone. It was somewhat acceptable when Olivia was only a few minutes away. Now that she was hundreds of miles away from DC, it was not okay. Amelia called Olivia in tears. She didn't realize that being honest would cause so many problems.
"Look mom. It's a butterfly." Olivia turned around. Karen's hand was open with a blue butterfly sitting in her palm.
"I see it."
"Mom, why are they saying mean things about you on TV?"
"Reporters are mean."
"They are bullies." Karen said.
"Money cannot buy happiness. I want you to know that before someone offers you a lot of money to sell your life away."
"You can be a teacher again."
"No I can't."
"Why not?"
"Because I can't be a normal person anymore."
"Are you going to be an alien?"
"No."
"Has dad met any aliens in space?"
"No."
"You can be normal in Vermont. It's not like California."
"How about we go make some slime?" Olivia said.
"Cool!"
"I am going to be happy. The tabloids won't control my happiness."
"No they won't." Karen said.
