DarkFoxKit: Hey, Onyx, I think we ran out of food in the bunker.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': *Frowns* Well this bunker was supposed to be just for me. The supplies were meant to last me for a couple months.
DarkFoxKit: Why didn't you make a bunker for me too then? Were you planning to hide out a disaster on your own? And… how long are we going to stay in here? I think my fur is starting to stink.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': I figured Mew would save you. Also… why aren't you using the bunker's shower? *Sighs and shakes her head* We can try to see if it's safe to go out.
DarkFoxKit: Do you want me to go out first since I'm smaller and less easy to be spotted?
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Yeah, probably for the best.
DarkFoxKit: *Quickly heads out from the bunker and looks around* Hmmm… so far, so good. *Starts moving around the house* Huh? Is that the living room? Why does it look like a nursery? *A shadow looms over her* … ONYX!
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': RUN!
DarkFoxKit: *Starts running, but the shadow was too fast, it soon caught up to her* WAH!
*It was all silent after that*
Chapter 108: Young Masters… es?
Vlad was giving a smile to the audience that had gathered up near the bottom of the grand staircase. He had just announced he had adopted two children, and was about to show them off. Vlad gestured behind him as two figures walked into the spotlights.
I was a bit surprised when I saw the two children. The first thing I noticed is that both were girls. The second thing was that neither of them looked like one another. There was a shorter girl who looked to still be in middle school. She had shoulder blade length wavy red hair, freckles, and a very pale complexion. She was wearing a very expensive looking purple and gold ballgown. From what I could tell, she had brown eyes.
Beside her was a taller girl, who seemed to be closer to Danny and my age. She had shoulder length wavy purple hair with dark blue highlights. Unlike the other girl beside her, the taller girl had a more fair skin complexion, looking like she had recently gotten a bit of a tan. She, like the other girl, was wearing an expensive ballgown. However this girl's ball gown was royal blue and sky blue, with a little bit of white. Like with the other girl, I had a bit of a hard time seeing her eyes, but my best guess was a greenish-blue.
I could hear people whispering to each other. Some were wondering when Vlad decided to adopt children, and how beautiful or pretty they looked. A few others sounded jealous that Vlad managed to get heirs at all.
"Greetings, everyone." The younger girl smiled as she stepped forward, curtseying a bit. It looked like she was wearing one of those almost invisible microphones. "My name is Ella Masters."
The older girl stepped beside the younger one. "And I am Anna Masters. It is so very nice to see each and every one of you here tonight."
The crowd around us started to clap, congratulating Vlad on adopting these two. Though I knew most of them were just doing it to be polite. It was more likely most of them were more surprised or bitter that Vlad now had heirs.
"Did… the fruitloop actually adopt two kids…?" Danny softly muttered in confusion from beside me. "Has he fully gone off the deep end? Or… maybe he's finally decided to settle down and stop being a total wackadoo… Though it's also a possibility this is just another plan of his."
"It's hard to say. Maybe Vlad just thought it wasn't worth trying to get you two as his children, and decided it would be better to adopt his own kids," Jazz suggested.
"He's been obsessed with us for years," I pointed out. "I don't see him just suddenly giving up on that goal of his. If there's one thing I can say about him is that his determination is… honestly a bit terrifying."
"What would he possibly be doing by adopting two kids of his own?" Jazz asked. "You might just be a bit paranoid."
"I'd still like to keep an eye on him just in case… he came all the way to Amity Park just to show off two girls he decided to adopt. It just seems a little… suspicious," I remarked.
"And… maybe we should keep an eye on those two… Ella and… Anna, was it? They could be working with Vlad and his latest scheme," Danny suggested.
"I mean it could just be that he's doing this for the sake of his business," Jazz offered. "Show his shareholders that he is focused on the futures of his company, while also hosting it here to show that he might expand this way in the future. If it is a business plan, it is a pretty ingenious one. By inviting the most influential people of Amity Park, Vlad earns some brownie points with them. And by showing that he has taken in two children, he also makes himself look more human and trustworthy. Though… why he'd invite us might be more malicious. He might want to just rub his success in Dad's face. Or he might want to show Mom what she 'missed out on'. And..."
Jazz looked over at myself and Danny. "He might be doing this to get into your minds."
I looked around in the crowd. It was difficult to see anyone we knew. Other than Danny, myself, and Jazz, I didn't see anyone else we knew. Sam, who went to go with her parents when Vlad called for everyone, Tucker, Valerie, Mom, and Dad were all spread out somewhere in the crowd.
"What do you mean?" Danny asked in confusion.
Though before Jazz could answer, Vlad spoke back up.
"Tonight is a celebration of my two children being properly adopted into my family!" Vlad announced. "And it is also to celebrate the fact that I have named Anna as the primary heiress to my company and Ella as the secondary heiress. Please, enjoy yourselves and feel free to introduce yourselves to my delightful children at your leisure."
At that, Anna and Ella began to descend the stairs, making their way into the crowd. When the two girls reached the crowd, the crowd began talking amongst each other, or going somewhere else, or asking Anna and Ella questions.
"How could Vladdie do something so brash without talking to the rest of the family… He's so selfish sometimes…"
I blinked when I heard an unfamiliar woman's voice talking. Jazz and Danny were already going through the crowd, likely to find our parents or friends. I couldn't see much due to the crowd, but I did hear the woman's voice I heard earlier.
"I mean getting heiresses to his company and fortune is no small thing. He should've been more considerate."
I couldn't help but feel a chill going down my spine when I heard this lady talking.
"Someone should remind him just how much he owes the family. If anyone should've been named the heiress to his company or fortune, it should've been another family member that wasn't just adopted in…"
Oh, it's one of those people. I should be glad Vlad didn't actually manage to adopt me and Jazz at the time we infiltrated his mansion, otherwise we would've had to deal with her. I mused. Wonder what she's gonna do with Vlad. I just hope she doesn't actually hurt those two girls.
A part of me wanted to turn invisible and float over the crowd to see who this lady was and what she was going to do. In fact, I was contemplating it before I felt a tap on the back of my shoulder.
"Excuse me. Are you… Andy Fenton?"
I blinked, and turned around to see who was asking me. I didn't see anyone at first, until I looked down, seeing the younger girl Vlad introduced.
"Oh… uh, yes, that's me. You're… Ella Masters, right?" I answered back, hoping I didn't sound like a nervous dork. Despite knowing Vlad, I still got nervous around people who were considered 'important' and rich.
The young girl gave a small bow of her head before she looked up and gave a sheepish chuckle. "That is correct, I am Ella. I would've preferred Ellie, as that is somewhat short for Elizabeth, but Father preferred Ella as it sounded more refined."
Elizabeth, huh? I'm surprised Vlad let them use their shorter nicknames to introduce themselves. He always likes to use our full name when addressing us. I noted. "It's nice to meet you, Ella. It's… uh… great that Vlad decided to adopt you and Anna. Uh…"
I hesitated a little, not sure if asking this next question was considered appropriate, but I wanted to know if Vlad was treating them right. "How has… living with Vlad been for you two?"
"It's been a bit of a learning experience," Ella answered. "Though he has been kind to us, going so far as to let us use shortened names. I mean… before, I… well I didn't have a name before Father found me and adopted me."
"Oh, that's… uh… unfortunate. Well, I'm glad that being adopted has let you have your own name then," I said, feeling awkward now. "It… sounds like living with Vlad is… pretty good so far at least." Well… now what do I say? She looks like she's like… I don't know, 12 years old maybe? And yet I'm struggling to find something to say to her!
"It is," Ella responded with a small smile. "Though if I may be honest, sometimes it can be a little hard. Father expects a lot from us and puts pressure on us to be the best children we can be. I'm a bit envious of you as Father has explained the Fenton family as a very relaxed family."
I blinked at that. "He… said that?"
Ella softly giggled a little. "No, not completely. That was the polite version of what he said. Though I would like to believe that Father's… explanation of your family is a bit biased due to his history with your father. Father had said your family's lifestyle was hectic, disorderly, volatile, and a bit dangerous."
Yeah… that does sound like my family. I inwardly noted before noticing something. "I have to say, you speak much more maturely than I thought you would."
"Yeah, that happens when one is taught how to speak like an adult in order to give the best impression," Ella pointed out. "Though I honestly have to say that I'm glad I'm the younger child. Because I am younger, I was named the secondary heiress and not the primary. If you look over by the stairs, you will see that my sister is getting swarmed by all the adults that wish to get in my sister's good graces."
I looked over at the grand staircase, and saw Ella was right; there were a lot of people surrounding Anna. I could hardly even see Anna in that sea of people.
"I might be vertically challenged, but I can still see her current predicament," Ella commented. "I would go try to rescue her, but I would rather not be surrounded by a plethora of people wanting to call me 'cute' and 'adorable'."
Heh, I could see how that could be a problem. I chuckled to myself. "My sister might be interested in meeting with you." Mostly because she might be interested in picking at your brain since you're a young child who's pretty much acting like a small adult. "You know of Jazz Fenton, right?"
"Yes, I do know of your sister," Ella acknowledged. "Father taught us about your family, your friends, and those who we might meet in Amity Park."
"Why'd he do that?" I asked, a bit suspicious that Vlad would teach a young child about my family and friends.
"Because he plans on enrolling my sister at Casper High and I was in the room when Father was teaching Anna about who she could go to if she needed help," Ella informed.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "Why would Vlad want to enroll Anna in Casper High? Surely he could enroll her in a high prestigious school in Wisconsin than some public school in Amity Park, right?"
"Father wants Anna to experience public school in order to give her a chance to pick up the viewpoint of the more common folk," Ella explained. "He believes that understanding the general public is a key asset in running a large company, as it helps one not lose sight of their goals. Too many businessmen and businesswomen end up forgetting about the general public and instead focus on lining their pockets or portfolios with as much money as they can."
While that sounds nice… this is Vlad we're talking about here. I can't help but feel like he has an ulterior motive for sending Anna to Casper High. It is the same school Danny and I are going to after all. It's too much of coincidence for it to not be suspicious. I thought to myself.
Before I could say anything more, I heard another familiar voice speaking up from beside me.
"Hey, bro, who are you talking to?"
I nearly jumped, I didn't even notice Danny had approached us until he spoke up. Danny gave a curious look at Ella.
"Oh, it's one of the girls Vlad adopted… You're Ella, right?" Danny asked, looking at Ella.
Ella actually looked nervous when Danny spoke to her. I couldn't help but wonder why she suddenly seemed nervous around my brother. She didn't have any problems talking to me.
"Y-yes." Ella nodded. "I am Ella Masters, it's a pleasure to meet you. I… apologize for my nervousness… I wasn't really expecting to talk to both of you at the same time. I uh… am still a bit… unpracticed with talking to multiple people at once…"
I raised an eyebrow. Is she really nervous because she's suddenly talking to more than one person? I would've thought Vlad would've taught her how to be able to handle a crowd at least. Then again, I don't know how long he's been teaching them, so she might not have had all the time to practice.
Danny also looked surprised, likely because we weren't used to someone being nervous around us, at least while we were humans. "Oh, I'm sorry if I made you… uncomfortable."
Ella took in a deep breath and let it out.
"If you don't mind, I think I will be going to meet the others," Ella said as she curtseyed a little. "Do make sure to enjoy the party. And do not worry, you don't have anything to apologize for. I simply need to practice my social skills more."
With that said, Ella walked away from us a little quickly, and disappeared into the crowd.
"Huh… I never thought I'd see the day when someone would be nervous around us," Danny remarked. "At least when we're… you know… not 'ghost hunting'."
"Funny, I thought the same thing," I chuckled. "Well… why don't we go find our friends and try to enjoy the rest of the party?"
"I think I saw most of our friends heading over to one of the dining tables," Danny responded before chuckling a little to himself.
I smiled. "Think you'll want to dance with Sam again? Or maybe have a romantic dinner with her by the buffet tables?~"
Danny started blushing when I brought that up. "C-come on, bro! I was just dancing with Sam as a friend!"
"Sure you weren't. You two totally didn't look like you were ready to lock lips with each other at any moment during the dance~" I grinned.
"What about you and Valerie?" Danny pouted. "You two looked like you were having the times of your lives. In fact, it looked like a scene from a Disney movie. All we needed was a jamaican crab singing that you should 'kiss the girl'."
Now it was my turn to start blushing. "It was just a simple dance. Valerie and I aren't into each other."
"Uh huh." Danny slowly nodded, his tone dripping with disbelief. "A number of eyes were on the two of you and it looked like you two might be into each other on some level."
"Well, if we are, you and Sam are closer!" I argued.
"You really think so?" Danny asked in an excited tone before blushing a bit more.
"Mm-hmm, you two just need the right push~" I grinned.
"And I take it you are going to try and arrange that 'right push'?" Danny raised a brow while crossing his arms.
"Maybe, maybe not. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't wait too long, or someone else might come and try to snatch Sam up," I replied.
Danny grumbled and mumbled a bit. "Let's talk about what we're having for dinner. Because in case you didn't notice, there aren't any buffet tables in here and are instead dining tables with menus on them. I personally hope it isn't that weird rich person fad of a really delicious sounding food that ends up only being the size of a golf ball."
I couldn't help but laugh at that. Danny and I had always found it weird that rich people liked tiny foods that hardly had any substance to them and were as expensive as a new game or game system.
"I think we should go join our friends and check out the menu," Danny chuckled.
"Yeah." I nodded in agreement. "Let's hope Vlad chose options for all types of people. You know how Sam can get about food~"
Danny and I started laughing a bit more as we walked towards the table where our friends were. At the time, I didn't know it, but while I was laughing with Danny, Anna had been looking in our direction.
The party hadn't been bad, it was far better than what happened the last time our family went to a party hosted by Vlad. I was still trying to figure out why Vlad would enroll Anna in Casper High when he could've easily just enrolled her in any of Wisconsin's public schools. From what I could tell, Vlad was gonna leave Anna here since he had to go back to Wisconsin after the party.
I didn't want to dwell on it too much, however, because I wanted to enjoy myself. Danny and Sam enjoyed each other's company despite the Mansons being a bit… watchful of Danny whenever he and Sam started interacting with each other. Valerie chatted with both me and Tucker. All of us actually agreed that we enjoyed the food that was served at the party, especially the appetizers. The food all had expensive sounding names, but we were encouraged by the staff, that were taking orders, to try whatever we wanted.
Dad was as excited and happy as ever for Vlad. Though as he had promised Mom, Dad stayed on his best behavior and spoke to Vlad in a much more reasonable way and tone. Mom was a lot more… quiet about it, but she did congratulate Vlad anyways. I think Mom is more relieved Vlad would be more busy raising the kids, and less likely to go after her. Danny and I did hope that Vlad having adopted Anna and Ella meant he had given up trying to make us his sons.
I did hear that lady's voice I heard earlier complaining about how Vlad wouldn't listen to her, but otherwise I hadn't really heard from her much. I decided it was in my best interest to ignore that lady anyways, it wasn't any of my business. I quietly hoped to myself that I would never have to run into her.
However, at one point when I had to stretch my legs a little, I did run into a strange looking teenager with white hair. I didn't approach him, as he gave off the air of someone who had travelled and I didn't want to get dragged into a conversation with a strange teen.
We enjoyed the party and each other's company. Ella didn't talk to us again though, and Anna never approached us, but we were fine with that. And before we knew it, it was time to go home. I was actually relieved we could go home, because I had very little practice with high society parties. I only really enjoyed the company of my friends. I was also sure Dad was relieved, since he likely didn't want to have to keep staying on his best behavior. I was sure we were going to be hearing Dad's loud voice cheering about Vlad all night long later.
Hope had to wake me up the next morning, she did so by tapping me in the face over and over again until I couldn't ignore it. I tried to swat at the tapping a few times, but the tapping just got more and more aggressive. I finally opened my eyes, groaning a bit.
"Time to wake up," Hope said sweetly to me.
"Ugh… what time is it? It's Saturday, isn't it? Why do I have to get up for?" I groaned.
"It's already noon. You shouldn't have stayed up so late last night," Hope replied.
"I didn't stay up late… we just came home late… and Dad made it difficult to sleep," I groggily argued.
"Oh?" Hope crossed her arms. "So you didn't stay up until like… 3 in the morning with Danny trying to figure out what Vlad was scheming?"
"Danny was going to keep bothering me if I didn't at least try to help him figure out what Vlad could be scheming," I grumbled.
Speaking of my brother, I turned over on my bed to see if Danny was still asleep on his own bed. Sure enough, Danny was still snoozing away. I couldn't help but give a mischievous grin. Danny normally woke up before I did, so this was a rare opportunity for me to wake him up, and get back at him for the last time he tried to get me out of bed.
I quietly got out of bed, and went into our bedroom's bathroom. I picked up a large plastic cup I kept beside the sink, in case I got thirsty at night, and began to fill it up with water. The water wasn't too cold, just cool enough to wake up someone, but not make them ice cold. Once the large plastic cup was about 3/4 filled, I turned off the water and began carrying the almost filled cup towards the still sleeping Danny.
"Are you sure you want to do that?" Hope questioned with a concerned expression, her plushy hands on her hips.
"Come on, Hope, at least let me be a little mischievous," I said quietly to the pink and white teddy bear.
I didn't want to be too close to Danny once I splashed him, however, so I did end up using a little bit of my telekinesis to lift up the large plastic cup of water and moved it over Danny.
"Well, Hope, looks like the weather report is calling for a sudden downpour~" I grinned before I dumped the cup of water onto Danny.
"For a second there, you sounded like Danny," Hope said as Danny bolted upright in his bed, gasping a bit.
Danny looked around quickly, likely looking for the ghost who dumped water on him. Danny's eyes then fell on me. I gave him a grin as I waved to him.
"Hey, bro, you're finally awake," I chuckled. "Didn't want you sleeping the whole day away."
Danny whined loudly. "It's Saturday! Couldn't you have let me sleep in?!"
"It's already noon, and I wasn't going to let you two sleep in all day," Hope huffed.
"Yes, and we stayed up late talking," Danny countered, pouting a bit. "We could've slept in a little longer… and bro… did you really have to dump water onto me? Now I gotta throw my bedsheets into the wash…"
"Remember the last time you tried to wake me up? You put Bearbert of all things into my arms!" I reminded. "At least I didn't have you hugging a chainsaw."
"Bearbert won't hurt you, bro." Danny rolled his eyes a little.
"Uh-huh, just like I'm sure Skulker doesn't want your pelt, or the Box Ghost doesn't want boxes, or Vlad isn't up to something," I grumbled. "Go get changed. I'm sure we can actually be a little productive on a Saturday. Maybe call up Tucker and Sam so they can help us figure out what Vlad may be up to." And also hopefully that'll keep you from keeping me awake at night.
"Maybe that little bit of productivity can be getting over your phobia…" Danny muttered in annoyance as he got out of bed.
When Danny called Tucker and Sam, they told us to meet with them at the Nasty Burger. Tucker made a comment about us sleeping until noon, though I could hear the grogginess in his voice. Danny and I headed to the Nasty Burger, though we decided to walk instead of flying since we wanted to give Tucker and Sam time to get to the Nasty Burger too, and to just relax a bit.
The Nasty Burger was usually a safe haven for us to hang out with our friends. Though it had been attacked by ghosts before… and embarrassing parents… and it was used for a scheme for a love epidemic… and it was the centerpiece of a nightmarish future that, thankfully, no longer exists. Why is the Nasty Burger a 'safe haven' for us again?
As usual, when we met up with Tucker and Sam, we all ordered something to eat before we would sit down to talk.
"What… is that?" Tucker asked, pointing at a sandwich Sam brought out after we sat down at a booth.
"It's tofu soy melt," Sam answered.
Tucker looked pretty horrified. "Why would you make and bring such an abomination to this sacred place!?"
"I didn't bring it." Sam rolled her eyes. "Nasty Burger has started offering more vegetarian and vegan options."
"What!?" Tucker yelled in disbelief.
"Oh relax, Tucker," Sam responded. "They haven't removed any of your disgustingly oversaturated fatty and greasy foods. They just added more to the menu."
"Which I think was a great idea, much better than just serving a block of grass and mud as a 'vegetarian' option," I remarked, shooting a grin at Sam. "In fact, it was the only option we had."
"One which plenty of parents raised a stink over," Danny commented.
"And one that I was vehemently against," Tucker stated.
"If you had gotten your way, Tucker, there still would've been a stink," Danny informed.
"Heck, if he had gotten his way, I'm sure half of our freshmen class would've become ghosts before the end of the school year," Sam grimly remarked. "All that grease and fat without any other nutrients would've been deadly. Though… that makes me wonder why the Lunch Lady is so insistent on using meat? I mean… is she trying to make all the students into ghosts by killing them with protein?"
While Sam was complaining about too much meat, I noticed that the cashier changed shift with someone else, someone familiar. I saw Valerie walking up to the cashier, wearing the Nasty Burger uniform. She gave a kind smile to the customer ordering their food. It was only yesterday that I actually danced with her in a ballroom, and she wore a beautiful dress.
I guess even though her father got a promotion and is making a lot more money again in the Axion Labs, Valerie still wants to work for her own money. I noted to myself. She's definitely learned to be a hard worker, and she's got promoted from having to wear that costume of Nasty Ned to cashier. Then again… it's possible she works at Nasty Burger because of how many times it is at the center of a ghost crisis. That could just be another reason though.
I then remembered that time Valerie and I were investigating a bigger Nasty Burger closer to the city of Amity Park, and how it was the center of Technus's love potion thing. I hadn't even realized I started daydreaming until someone said my name.
"I don't think saliva can be used as a condiment, Andy," Sam chuckled a little.
"If it's on a tofu soy melt, it's seasoning," Tucker remarked.
"Tucker, you've never tried a tofu soy melt." Sam frowned. "Have you ever heard the saying 'you can't judge a book by it's cover'? Because that's what you're doing with my food, which is probably more flavorful than your meal. Also, none of Andy's saliva got on my food, it got all over his."
"It was actually a bit terrifying just how much you were drooling, bro," Danny informed. "It was like you were an anime character who hadn't eaten in weeks and suddenly found themselves in front of a feast of all their favorite food."
I frowned, looking down at my burger. "I wasn't drooling!"
"If that wasn't drool then what is that clear liquid all on top of your burger bun?~" Danny grinned.
"Oh hush you!" I lightly pushed Danny on the shoulder.
"You know, I don't blame you for drooling. Valerie is pretty hot in that uniform~" Tucker grinned. "Maybe I should ask her out myself."
I rolled my eyes. "Considering her job here, and her 'secretive' ghost hunting career, she doesn't have time to get in a relationship. I barely even get to see her most of the time outside of school."
"You could always get a job here to spend time with her," Sam offered. "It'd also get you some spending money that you could use to buy all those games you try to hint for me to buy for you on Christmas."
Get a job at the Nasty Burger? I blinked, as it hadn't crossed my mind before. "I don't know… I usually like my free time whenever ghosts decide to take a break from terrorizing the town."
"But think about it, bro~ You'll get closer to Valerie if you do. And she knows you know about her ghost hunting career, so maybe you two can bond over that." Danny grinned.
"Stop trying to imply there's something going on between me and Valerie," I grumbled.
"There could be something going on between you if you really wanted," Sam pointed out. "She's a really cute girl who has definitely shown she has some feelings for you. And you have some feelings for her. You owe it to yourself to find out if you want to be more than friends with her."
"And what if she doesn't? Or what if she does but she feels she can't because of her two jobs?" I questioned. "It would suck to like somebody you can't be with."
Sam had been drinking her soda when I was saying this, and this made her do a spit take. Since the booth only had room for about two people on each side; Danny and I sat together on one of the benches, while Tucker and Sam sat together on the bench opposite. Meaning I was right in front of Sam when she did that spit take. I did not like having soda spat in my face.
"Thanks for that…" I grumbled as I took a pile of napkins and began wiping off my face and neck.
"If she doesn't want to be more than friends with you, then you can just stick to being friends," Danny chuckled, trying to hide the small blush on his face. "And if she does want to be more than friends but can't because of her two jobs, then perhaps you taking a job could help her out so she doesn't have to work two jobs. Or you could try to convince her to switch to a different job that gives her more free time."
Sam nodded at that. "If you don't try to find out if you want to be more than friends, you might lose the opportunity to try. It would suck a lot more to never know if you did love someone."
"You know, those sound like pretty good ideas. Do you think the Nasty Burger gives discounts to employees?" Tucker grinned.
I still couldn't believe we were even having this conversation. It was possible Danny and Sam wanted to get me back for all those times I teased them about getting together.
I was about to tell Sam and Danny to mind their own business about their own love lives when I noticed Sam was looking at something behind me. She looked both surprised and… almost awestruck, if that was the right word.
I turned around in curiosity to see what she was looking at that caught her attention. I saw a teen, who looked to be around our age, coming into the Nasty Burger. He wore a black shirt with a raven skull. Using a tiny bit of my ghostly sight, I saw that behind the large raven skull was moonlit mist with a flock of ravens flying in it. He was also wearing a pair of black jeans that were torn up a tiny bit. He had a chain that went from one of his belt loops to his pocket. But the most noticeable thing about him was his bright white hair and a tiny bit of dark makeup around his eyes. His eyes were forest green, if they were more of a glowy bright green, I'd say he would look a little similar to Danny's phantom form.
Wait… didn't I see him at Vlad's party yesterday? I asked myself. It's not like there's a lot of teenagers with white hair running around.
The boy walked up to the counter, where there wasn't a line and looked up at the menu. "I'll take… a deluxe veggie burger, a side salad… and… one tofu soy melt please."
"Coming right up." Valerie smiled. "That'll be $10.37."
"Sounds like he's a vegetarian," Danny noted.
Sam gave a smile at that. "That's… pretty rare actually."
"Oh, I'm sure it is," Tucker grumbled.
"I should say that it's rare for Nasty Burger," Sam clarified. "There seem to be more vegetarians popping up."
"Though there are also fake vegetarians who are saying they're vegetarians just to sound… I guess more unique?" Danny shrugged.
I saw the boy carrying a tray of his food and walked towards us. However, just as I thought he was about to stop at our table, he went past us and went to a nearby empty booth before sitting down at it. I was just going to shrug it off as another goth just wanting to be alone. Sam on the other hand, seemed even more drawn in. She was staring at the booth the boy sat on, almost giving a dreamy smile.
"Now who's drooling on your tofu soy melt?" I remarked, raising an eyebrow.
Sam sat up and wiped her mouth a little. "I have no idea what you're talking about…"
Sam quickly ate the rest of her meal before she stood up. "I think I'm going to go say hi to that guy, ask him what brand he uses for his eyeshadow, and see if he's going to be going to Casper High as he looks like he's around our age."
"Since when did you become chatty with someone other than us?" Tucker asked.
"Since he's the first actual goth I've seen in our little corner of Amity Park besides myself that isn't just passing through or hiding their goth side," Sam quickly answered. "Who knows, he might be more versed in being goth than I am and I would like to find out."
Danny frowned a little. "I don't know, Sam, he might just be trouble."
Sam turned to look at Danny with a frown. "What? Just because he's a goth? Or because he's not someone you've had the chance to talk to or save?"
"I'm just saying we don't know much about him," Danny replied.
"And how do you expect for us to get to know him without one of us going over and talking to him?" Sam asked in an annoyed tone before narrowing her eyes. "Tell me, Danny, would you be giving this same reaction if Tucker was the one who had volunteered to go over and talk to him? Or Andy?"
Danny frowned at that, but he didn't give an answer.
"I see." Sam nodded before she walked away from our table, going over to the goth boy's table.
"Are you okay, bro? You seemed a bit… annoyed," I asked Danny after Sam went to the other goth's table.
"More like jealous," Tucker remarked before Danny shot him a glare, which made Tucker turn his attention back to his food.
"There's no need to be jealous, Danny. Sam likes you, you two just haven't made it official yet," I assured. "Besides, if you start getting too jealous and overprotective, you'll end up pushing Sam away, like her parents did."
Danny grumbled a bit before he shoved a handful of fries into his mouth.
"You can't just eat away your jealousy either, Danny," Tucker added. "Otherwise it might eat away at you."
We could hear Sam laughing at something, and Danny looked even more annoyed before he started slurping his soda rather loudly.
I blinked a bit as my head hurt a tiny bit for a split second. "Tucker, duck."
Tucker blinked a bit before seeing my serious expression. He quickly ducked, moments before Danny spit out a mouthful of soda in Tucker's direction. This spew of soda was followed by a wispy blue mist coming out of Danny's mouth, followed by a wispy dark blue mist coming out of my own mouth.
"That was close," Tucker remarked as he popped out from where Sam was sitting before, likely not having wanted to come up on a seat that was covered in soda.
As soon as Tucker was sitting back down, a small green ghost flew in, nearly hitting Tucker in the face before darting towards the counter.
"And that was closer!" Tucker exclaimed as people started yelling 'ghost!'.
"Great, just our luck a ghost decided to attack now," Danny grumbled.
I saw the ghost zipping around the Nasty Burger, laughing as it was causing people to start screaming and panicking. It was a fast little sucker.
"Looks like they might be a speed type," Tucker muttered as he got up, glancing at Danny. "I'll help get people out."
"Andy, are you-" Danny began to say before I shook my head.
"You can handle this one ghost, both of us going after it would be overkill. I'll help Tucker get people out," I answered.
Danny nodded before he started running to the bathroom. Tucker and I began running towards the front door, I could see people trying to hide under the table. I could also hear the goth boy Sam was sitting with.
"Ghost?" He sounded more surprised and curious than scared.
"W-welcome to Amity Park!" I heard Sam quickly say.
"We really should go, Sam," I spoke up to her, hoping she would help.
"Right!" Sam shouted in acknowledgement. "I'd recommend going out to the street in an orderly fashion. We can continue our conversation after I help get all these people out of here."
"You're a really brave girl to do that while a ghost is here," The goth boy complimented, making Sam blush.
I opened up the front door while Tucker was calling out to people to evacuate calmly, Sam was helping round up the more panicked people who were under the table, making sure nobody got trampled or knocked over.
"Come on! This way!" I called out.
As people were running out the door, I saw the little green ghost flying around the ceiling, then a familiar black and white blur flying towards it. Both of them went intangible before they flew up and through the ceiling. Okay, hopefully that green annoyance will be taken care of.
Things were going well as the Nasty Burger was quickly emptied, with only Tucker and Sam left inside. I was about to ask them if we should go see if Danny took care of the ghost yet, when I heard weapons being fired from the sky. I frowned before I ran further away from the Nasty Burger's building so I could get a better look at what was going on in the sky.
I was surprised and a bit horrified when I saw two Guys in White agents riding on hovercraft, very fast hovercraft as they were zipping around like dragonflies. They were shooting blue energy beams at Danny, who was dodging them by manipulating his body in such a way that he almost looked like a noodle, or a snake. Huh… I don't think I ever manipulated my body in such a way before… Does that hurt?
I shook my head, now wasn't the time to start asking those kinds of questions. I needed to help my brother. The Guys in White were dangerous, I remembered that much from the alternate timeline.
"What's going on?" Tucker asked as he and Sam came out of the Nasty Burger.
"Guys in White are attacking Danny," I informed. "I'm going to help him!"
"Be careful," Sam warned.
I ran back into the Nasty Burger. I wasn't sure if there were any cameras in the restaurant, so I was going to run into the bathroom just in case. However, I was quite annoyed when I saw that it was a pay toilet. Wait, who installed this? I'm pretty sure this is illegal… Ugh, I don't have the time for this.
I quickly dug into my pocket for my wallet to take out a dime, and quickly inserted it into the pay toilet. I opened up the door and rushed inside. Since there was nobody here, I just transformed quickly into my ghost form before turning intangible and flew up through the ceiling. However I quickly sunk back down for a split second, created a ghost ray in my hand, and shot at the locking mechanism on the door in order to melt it. I then flew back up to go help Danny.
When I came up to the sky, I turned myself invisible and suppressed my ghostly aura in case they had a radar to detect ghosts. My stealth lessons with Juliette were really paying off. While the two agents were busy shooting at my brother, they didn't notice me coming up behind them. Their hovercraft were fast, but I could easily keep up. I then used my ghostly energy to create two ecto pistols.
I aimed the ecto pistols at the weapons on the hovercraft, then I pulled the triggers. The pistols shot off two piercing ecto bullets at the weapons, easily breaking the rods that mounted the weapons to the hovercraft. The Guys in White quickly noticed the sudden lack of weapons firing at their favorite target.
"What happened?" One agent questioned.
"Seems we have a scenario 44L, missing weapons. Perhaps due to a 395D?" The other agent responded.
"Improper maintenance could be responsible, but this doesn't look like a 395D. The rods are melted, likely by one of the ghost boy's attacks," The first agent answered.
"But the ghost boy wasn't able to attack us, he's been dodging us this entire time," The second agent pointed out.
"It doesn't matter, we have more weapons," The first agent reminded the other.
I frowned in annoyance when I saw more guns, a lot more guns, coming out from inside their hovercraft. There were some really big laser guns pointing at Danny. Okay… how many weapons can they fit inside a tiny hovercraft like that? Is it bigger on the inside or something?
All the weapons started to fire, but Danny was fast enough to be able to dodge most of them. But when he saw a bunch of strong looking lasers coming his way, he managed to create a strong ecto barrier that made the lasers bounce off.
I began shooting my ecto pistols at each of their weapons, breaking them all apart. The Guys in White definitely noticed that.
"We might have to regroup," The first agent said. "It seems the target isn't alone."
"Let's return to base and go over the data gathered for now." The second agent nodded.
The two agents flew away on their hovercraft, leaving Danny alone. Danny looked over at me as I let go of my invisibility. Danny noticed the two ecto pistols in my hands.
"Are you okay, bro?" I asked Danny.
"I'm fine…" Danny nodded, though he was breathing a little heavily. "Just a little out of breath…"
I dissipated my two pistols. "Where's the ghost?"
Danny held up his Fenton Thermos. "That's the reason I am so out of breath… not only was I running from the Guys in White, but I was also going after the ghost at the same time."
"Impressive," I complimented. "I also need to learn how you're able to manipulate your body. You could become a pretzel with no issues."
"I… kinda just did it," Danny admitted. "I thought about wanting to dodge without moving and my body kinda just… did it."
"So it's more of an instinct thing?" I blinked.
Danny nodded. "Probably, but it seems like it's something that could be learned."
It was definitely something to look into. "But for now, we should get back to Tucker and Sam. They're probably waiting for us."
tiffanymayumi2.0: DarkFoxKit: Uh, sure, you can look at it like that. Danny and Sam had been more in denial about it than anything though.
Andy: … How the heck did you get my phone number? And I don't have that kind of interest in Valerie.
KaseyKay17: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Perhaps. Who knows though? Perhaps Andy doesn't have a clone, or perhaps he has a male clone. Guess you'll just have to wait and see.
DarkFoxKit: :3
DP-Marvel94: DarkFoxKit: Yeah, Double Crossed My Heart isn't a bad episode, but it's one of the more forgettable ones. Sometimes I think it was an episode in season 3. I was actually surprised it was just before Kindred Spirits. But we have plans for both episodes. As for Andy and Valerie, they may have something going on, they may not, we'll have to see.
Heh, do you think they're the clones? Vlad has a different plan in mind this time around. Thanks to Andy, he's not exactly the same Vlad as in canon. While Andy hasn't really interacted with Vlad that much, he had been shown to be a lot less hostile and more understanding to Vlad than his brother had been. And you know what they say, even the smallest act of kindness can have a big effect. While he did end up betraying Vlad at one point, Andy did regret having to do that, and he only did it because he chose his family over Vlad. Just something to keep in mind for future events.
Burnzs: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Hmmm, well perhaps that's what Fox was going for. Fox is a fan of both Undertale and the Mother series. Also, around chapter… 28 I am pretty sure I wasn't on the project at that point.
DarkFoxKit: Yup, this was before you joined me in writing We Are Phantoms, so this was all me. I was fresh off of Undertale at the time I wrote this chapter, so yeah, that's probably why.
Mana16: DarkFoxKit: Do you think they're Danielle and Andrea? We won't confirm or deny if they are if you ask us directly, we wanna know what the readers think by just reading it.
Yeah, it felt kind of fast that Danny and Sam would kiss each other at the near end of Phantom Planet when the series hadn't really built up to that. Yeah, season 3 showed them liking each other, but they never went on any dates, nor did they show that they like each other as more than friends other than a few blushing and cute comments. We're going to fix that.
As for Andy having dance lessons, admittedly that wasn't my original idea. Though I myself used to have dance lessons since I was 4 years old. And we figured maybe Andy and Danny had some dance lessons themselves when they were little.
Vlad has a better hold on Valerie due to desperation. If he gave Damon back his high paying job, then Valerie would be content and not as motivated to fight with ghosts anymore. Perhaps she would still hunt ghosts, but she wouldn't be as effective as she is now due to her want for revenge.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Damon does still work in Axion Labs. He doesn't have his high ranking position like he once held before, but due to his hard work and past actions he has moved up beyond just a night shift guard.
DarkFoxKit: Yeah, Maddie still doesn't trust the Phantoms, and she also wanted the town to try to defend themselves, especially since she's still convinced the two ghost boys would turn and attack them one day. It's a smart idea though, since having the town learning to defend themselves against ghosts would be more helpful to the boys so they don't always have to defend everyone.
Darkzdragon 'Onyx': Back in the time that Desiree was still alive, there would have been some forms of magic in the world. Be it hypnotic powers, conjuring and controlling elements, or other kinds of magic. We haven't solidly pinned down if Desiree had powers before, but to me it really does make sense for her to have some form of powers that got a super boost when she became a ghost, granting her the ability to alter the universe through wishes. Though who knows, maybe she died in the process of becoming a genie and became a ghost genie.
DarkFoxKit: Yeah, the Infinite Realms really is infinite. There are portals that lead into different times and places too, which could be much, much safer versions of wormholes or blackholes. As for the Disasteroid… are you really going to take Phantom Planet as something that's actual lore in the show? Ecto-ranium literally didn't exist before Phantom Planet. I think they just made it up for the sake of having conflict.
GhostHex: Darkzdragon 'Onyx': You can make predictions all you like, but you'll only find out if you're correct or incorrect by waiting and seeing what we do with it. And who knows, while Vlad is a nutty creep, he does have quite a lot of businesses underneath him that could benefit from him having a next in line.
DarkFoxKit: Look at my response to DP-Marvel94, they're about the same as my response to your comment about Vlad.
