I choose you, chapter 109

For Her Trainer

It was dark in the cave and Yamaguchi couldn't see a thing aside from Admin Mika as she called out her gigantic Conkeldurr and instructed it to carry Yamaguchi like a sack of potatoes over its shoulder. Though he was still tangled in the net it didn't take Yamaguchi long to work up the courage to struggle and yell for help as Admin Mika led them deeper and deeper into the dark cave.

Slung over Conkeldurr's shoulder, Yamaguchi watched the light from the entrance become smaller and smaller with each step they took. He knew he and Eevee would be goners if he didn't do something soon. He could tell from the moment he made eye contact with Admin Mika that she longed to do horrible things to them. His hope dwindled and fear began to set in as the small pinprick of light disappeared around a corner. Nonetheless Yamaguchi thrashed about in the large Pokemon's arms as he screamed himself hoarse. His yells for help echoed off the tunnel walls and most likely spooked off any wild Pokemon that may have been lurking in the dark.

It was only when Admin Mika smacked him hard around the head did Yamaguchi's yells for help cease. She had taken as much of his shouting as she could. It was worth it even if the Boss was upset if the prisoner was injured. Knocked out, Yamaguchi hung limp in Conkeldurr's arm. Eevee squirmed around helplessly in the net as she tried to help her beloved trainer.

When Yamaguchi woke up his head only hurt a little bit despite how hard he had been hit but the spot on his face where Admin Mika had hit him felt tender and swollen. He found himself quite stuck in the net and hanging in the air once again. He hung with his back to the ground curled in a ball with his knees bent up to his chin. There was barely any space in the net for him let alone Eevee. Eevee had wormed her way up his body and settled herself on his chest.

Upon seeing her trainer awake once more Eevee gave a small eep of relief. Yamaguchi could tell she must have been stressing the whole time he had been passed out. Her fur was puffed out and the pupils of her eyes were the widest he had ever seen. He shifted uncomfortably in the net, working his hand out from under his butt to pet Eevee on the head. "Don't worry. I'm okay," he reassured as he pet her. Despite what he said both trainer and Pokemon knew that they were far from okay.

Yamaguchi shifted in the net to get a better look at their surroundings. The area of the tunnel they were in was illuminated by a soft artificial light coming from large screens on the side of the wall as well as small lamps hanging from the tunnel ceiling giving off a gentle glow. The lighting was dim but Yamaguchi could make out several machines he recognised from the dreams he had been having, at least that was what he felt at the moment. Uneasiness and fear began to settle in his stomach and this time it definitely belonged to himself.

Yamaguchi stayed quiet for a long moment as he oriented himself. He could feel himself on the verge of a panic attack and knew that if he opened his mouth he'd lose it for sure. He had to keep it together for both himself and Eevee. His heart pounded wildly in his chest as he struggled to keep it together. Despite his efforts his body shook with fear as he scanned the room.

At the moment he seemed to be alone. He wondered where Admin Mika had gone off to. He hoped she didn't come back any time soon. The look in her eyes from before was the sort of look an angry predator gave to its prey before making the killing blow. For some reason Admin Mika really didn't like him.

The room was quiet. Only the hum from the lights and computer screens could be heard. Every now and then Eevee would release a scared eep causing Yamaguchi to hold her closer. With a bit of struggle Yamaguchi was able to shimmy himself up so he could see better.

As his eye became used to the dim lighting of the room he could make out a large contraption in the center of the tunnel. It looked like a cage with some sort of long metal pole sticking out on the top of it. The whole thing looked scorched, like it had been set on fire or in contact with something hot. Nothing else in the room looked to have been scorched giving Yamaguchi the feeling that whatever had caused this damage probably didn't happen in this room. Looking at the cage left Yamaguchi feeling quite uncomfortable.

"W-We have to get out of here," Yamaguchi said, his voice shook and cracked in the way it does when you are scared beyond control. As much as he tried to reassure Eevee he knew he wasn't very convincing.

Regardless of how terrified Yamaguchi looked, Eevee gave a small eep of agreement.

Yamaguchi practiced a few breathing exercises that failed to calm him. He tried to think of a way out but it was hard for him to focus. He looked up to the top of the net where it was tied shut. Maybe from there they'd be able loosen the net and shimmy their way out. The idea was absurd but it was all he had at the moment. He reached his long arms up toward the opening. The holes in the net were too small for his hands to slip through but his long fingers were more than skinny enough to poke out.

With his elbows bent at funny angles he wiggled his fingers about in an attempt to loosen the knot at the top of the net. "W-We'll be out of here soon," Yamaguchi reassured, his voice still just as shaky. He could feel his breathing become uneven as his attempts to loosen the knot failed.

There had to be a way out of this.

Yamaguchi wasn't given any more time to think of another plan for Admin Mika had arrived back. Yamaguchi didn't have to look to know she wasn't alone this time. Footsteps of several others could be heard. Their murmurs flooded the room as they all entered. Yamaguchi felt his heart sink as he drew his fingers back into the net.

"Well, isn't that cute," Admin Mika laughed as she approached him. "It's useless to try and escape. You aren't going to get away this time," she growled threateningly, glaring at him through her Arbok mask.

In his panic Yamaguchi found himself sinking back down. He struggled to sit back up but the small amount of space made it hard for him to move and when Admin Mika gave the net a shake he slid down onto his back once again. Admin Mika took the net in her hands and swung Yamaguchi around so that he was now facing her. The length at which the net hung made it easy for Admin Mika to pear right into his eyes.

There was a wild hungry look in her eyes that drowned Yamaguchi in cold fear. She smiled evilly at the sight of her prey shaking in fear. "When Boss saw that I had captured you he was quite pleased, Tadashi. You may have given us the slip a few times but now I have you and you're not getting away." Admin Mika gave a shrill laugh as she spun the net.

Yamaguchi felt himself go queasy as the net spun quickly one way then the other. He felt terrified and helpless and when the net finally stopped spinning and Admin Mika finally stopped laughing he found himself face to face with her once again. He tried to will himself to talk back at her but all that came out was a feeble whimper.

Admin Mika studied him quietly now. Her smile was gone and was replaced with annoyance and anger. The way her sharp eyes looked him up and down left him feeling in danger now more than ever. "You've been a thorn in my side for months, you little brat," Admin Mika spat, her voice coated with malice. "I've not been able to show my face in public and it's all because of your meddling," She gave the net an aggressive shake as she looked close to losing her temper. "I don't know what the Boss has in plan for you. Being such a menace you'd think I'd be better if we just killed you off now before you could cause us any more trouble."

Yamaguchi didn't question Admin Mika's word for a moment. She looked like she was more than ready to strangle him herself if given the okay. He found it hard to breathe as Admin Mika talked about killing him in here and now. He was just as terrified of The Boss but in the moment he was grateful that The Boss wanted him alive.

"You should be more gentle with the merchandise," a deep voice spoke, catching Yamaguchi by surprise.

Yamaguchi gave a great jump that caused Admin Mika to smile wickedly.

"You're just upset that I was the one to finally capture it, Admin Hiroo," Admin Mika sneered, glancing at the tall man next to her.

Yamaguchi's eyes looked at the man beside Admin Mika. He was tall with dark hair, dark eyes and a stern face. He also wore an Arbok mask that matched the one Admin Mika wore. He looked the type to be more in control of his emotions compared to Admin Mika. He didn't look at Yamaguchi with as much hatred as his co-admin did but seemed to view Yamaguchi as no more than an item they were to hand off to The Boss.

"You've already damaged it," Admin Hiroo said, pointing to the bruise on Yamaguchi's cheek where Admin Mika had hit him.

"It was screaming. What else was I going to do to get it to shut up?" Admin Mika sneered.

"You know The Boss has been after it for ages now and when he sees this damage he isn't going to be happy," Admin Hiroo bluntly replied. He didn't seem to be trying to argue with Admin Mika but merely pointing out a fact.

If Yamaguchi wasn't so horrified he'd be bothered by the way they referred to him as an it. He held Eevee close as he watched the two argue back and forth. Admin Mika seemed to be getting annoyed with her coworker but Admin Hiroo didn't seem to pick up on it and if he did he didn't seem to care. Yamaguchi held Eevee close as he chance to escape seemed to be thinning out.

"What's that in the net with it?" Admin Hiroo asked, catching sight of Eevee who was tucked in Yamaguchi's arms.

"It's a female Eevee," Admin Mika replied with an evil smile. "It's shiny, too."

"Wow, something like that can go for a lot on the black market," Admin Hiroo whistled.

"Now only did I catch the brat The Boss had been tracking but I also bagged us a rare Pokmeon," Admin Mika gloated.

Yamaguchi felt a bit of courage build up in him at the way they talked about his Eevee. Using that bit of courage he shouted in a shaky voice "I won't let you hurt her!" He had meant it despite how scared he sounded.

Both Admins stopped their conversation to look at him. Admin Mika bused out in laughter and Admin Hiroo sent him the sort of look Tsukki often sent Hinata. Yamaguchi sent them the best glare he could but the two merely went back to their conversation. Apparently his threat was completely ineffective and left him feeling even more helpless than before.

He held Eevee close to his chest rubbing at her head in an attempt to keep her calm. She was still his baby. He had to find a way to at least get her out of this situation. He couldn't let her end up on the black market but at the moment he didn't have a clue what he could do and the fear he felt only clouded his thoughts.

"It looks like we will be heading out now!"

Yamaguchi's head shot back up to find a tall man approaching the two Admins. He was tall and blond with a wild blue fringe. He had light brown eyes and wore glasses. He wore a white lab coat that reached past his knees. Unlike everyone else in the room this man did not wear a mask upon his face.

"Professor Colress," Admin Hiroo greeted with a nod.

"We can't head out now," Admin Mika replied, sounding a bit impatient. "We still have a lot of equipment laying around."

"Intruders have been spotted around the plant," Professor Colress replied with just as much sass. "If you don't want to get caught red handed literally abducting someone I'd suggest we leave now." His eyes went for Admin Mika to Yamaguchi and smiled looking just as evil as everyone else in the room.

Yamaguchi started as he instinctively scooted away from the Professor. The man's eyes shone like he had found the ideal test subject. Yamagucih didn't like the smile that spread across the man's face.

"So you're the one that's been interfering?" Professor Colress' wicked smile only grew. "Our tests should move forward smoothly from now on."

At that moment Ymagucih felt his heart go cold. He had no clue what this man was talking about and he didn't want to find out. He held Eevee close but this time it was less to comfort her and more to comfort himself. He could feel tears beginning to build up in him but he wasn't going to allow himself to cry.

"The entrance to the tunnel has been blocked off," The Professor said, turning abruptly and pacing the room. "Get our new test subject in the truck and let's head out."

"Who says you have the power to boss us around Colress!?" Admin Mika snapped. She only answered to The Boss.

"It was ordered from The Boss," Professor Cloress replied with a sneer. "He is dying to meet our subject in the flesh so I'd advise we hurry it up."

Admin Mika scoffed but did as told. He snapped at a few grunts to grab a few last items and the next thing Yamaguchi knew the net he was in was being removed from the hook it was on and he was being carried once more over the shoulder of a Conkeldurr. At this moment his voice seemed to come back to him.

"N-No… N-No! NO!," Yamaguchi shouted as he struggled in the Conkeldurr's arms. Tears streamed down his face as he tried to dislodge himself from the large Pokemon. "P-Please! L-Let me go!" he cried and shouted. "T-Tsukki! Someone! HELP!"

Yamaguchi's voice echoed off the walls of the tunnel but went ignored by everyone in the room. At this point Yamaguchi was unable to hold back and he full on cried. He pleaded that they let him go. He begged that they didn't take him prisoner.

"Jeez it is a loud one," Admin Hiroo sighed as Conkeldurr hung the net on the hook in the back of a large trailer.

The trailer was full of random machines and boxes but Yamaguchi was far too scared and in too much of a panic to take any of it in.

"Are you sure no one is going to notice a screaming person in the back of this truck," One fo the grunts pointed out as Yamaguchi cried and thrashed in the net.

"I can always knock him out again," Admin Mika suggested, making a fist.

"It's always more fun when they scream anyways," Professor Colress sighed. He seemed to be enjoying Yamaguchi's terror.

"P-Please, I'll b-be q-quiet if you l-let Eevee go," Yamaguchi begged. He realized he was probably not going to make it out of this but maybe Eevee could get away at least.

Eevee gave a small eep of horror at this suggestion. She'd never leave his side even if it resulted in her ending up for auction on the black market.

"Please, I-I'll d-do whatever you s-say," Yamaguchi shook as he spoke, hoping it's save her from an awful fate. "Wh-What e-ever you w-want I'll do it. J-Just l-let her go."

The two admin and Professor looked at Yamaguchi in pity. "It's always so sad when they think they can bargain with us," Professor Colress sighed, sending Yamaguchi a very mocking sad face.

"I'm sure no one is going to hear his screams no matter how loud he shouts," Admin Hiroo shrugged.

"It's kind of annoying but I like it when he cries," Admin Mika admitted with an evil laugh.

"P-Please!" Yamaguchi begged once more only for them to ignore him.

With the net secured the three slammed the door to the trailer shut. Yamaguchi heard the sound of a lock being set. Yamaguchi felt himself becoming colder than ever before as the situation really began to set in. He was being taken away by the evil team. They had finally captured him and his worst fears were being realized. He was never going to see Tsukki ever again. He was never going to stand on the showcase stage ever again.

The rumble of the trailer echoed through the compartment he was in. In a matter of seconds the net swung slowly as the vehicle began to move. Yamaguchi was being taken away and no one had any idea. By the time anyone realized he was gone it would be too late.

Yamaguchi thought of Tsukki. He had promised to be careful. He had promised to stay safe. He had promised to pick mushrooms with him when he arrived back from the power plant. All of that was broken and he'd never see Tsukki again.

He'd never be able to feel the warmth of Tsukki's embrace. He'd never be able to feel Tsukki's wet lips on his neck. He'd never be able to wake up calm and cozy in his arms. He'd never be able to cook for Tsukki again and see him smile. He'd never be able to tell Tsukki just how much he loved him. Yamaguchi felt his heart break.

Tears fell silently from Yamaguchi 's eyes. He had failed. He had failed Tsukki, himself and worst of all he had failed Eevee. She was going to be sold off for money. His sweet baby Eevee was going to be put up for auction and forced to go with someone against her will. This broke Yamaguchi even more. How could he have let this happen? He was truly the worst trainer ever.

"E-Eevee," Yamaguchi whimpered, his voice weak as he let out a small cry. "I-I'm s-so sorry," he closed his eyes as he cried into her soft mane. "I-I've failed you." He began to sob. His heart sunk so far he never thought he'd be able to lift it up ever again. This was really the end. "I love you, Eevee. Please forgive me."

Eevee gave a small cry as her master cried against her. It pained her to see him this way. Yamaguchi had been the best trainer she could have asked for. He had always done everything in his power to love her and care for her. He had risked his life on so many occasions for her. His warmth and love was what brought her so much strength even in the darkest moments for them. Yamaguchi had always been there for her and now she was going to be there for him.

Something changed within Eevee. She was done with being the helpless little baby that was always being taken care for. It was her turn to take care of him. Her love for her trainer grew in that moment and filled her with a new power. As the power spread from her heart to every limb in her body she began to grow.

Yamaguchi's sobbing stopped as the bundle of fur in his arms gave off a warm glow. "E-Eevee!?" He gasped. "Y-You're…" but before he could finish his thought the glowing had subsided and in his arms was not an Eevee but a beautiful blue Sylveon.

Yamaguchi was speechless as he gazed into Sylveon's pink enchanting eyes. Small tears still spilled from his eyes as Sylveon released a small purr. Her long ribbon like tendrils caressed Yamaguchi's cheek's wiping away the sears. She glowed softly once more and in that moment the despair that Yamaguchi felt began to fade and he was filled with a comforting warmth.

"S-Sylveon," Yamaguchi said with a sigh of relief. His mind began to clear as Sylveon's power lifted his spirits. He suddenly felt as if perhaps not all was lost. Perhaps there was a way out of this still.

Just as this warm thought passed his mind the vehicle they were in came to a screeching halt. The net stung wildly in the air at the sudden force at which they stopped. Yamagucih felt his stomach do a strange flip as the erratic movement. Both he and Sylveon felt their breakfast turn their stomach as the net stung like a pendulum.

Before Yamguchi even had a chance to orient himself, the trailer door was flung open. They were still in the tunnel so there was no light to show who it was that had opened the trailer door. He could make out a figure standing in the doorway but who it was he hadn't a clue. He sat stiff in the net as he tried to make out if it was one of the grunts or an admin. He struggled to find his voice but before he could so much as make a peep the intruder spoke first.

"Stay quiet or they will hear you."

Oh my, so much has happened in one chapter. What could the evil team want with our dear Yamaguchi so badly? Who would have guessed Eevee would evolve into Sylveon? Now Yamaguchi will always have comfort by his side! But who could it be at the door? Someone there to save Yamaguchi or just another Grunt!? Stay tuned to find out that and more!
