"We can handle it together." Fitz said, looking around the kitchen.
They were avoiding cleaning their home. The clutter was overwhelming, and Olivia didn't even know if they had cleaning supplies. They moved everything from DC. It would have been a good idea to buy plastic utensils and paper plates. Their sink was full of dishes. Olivia was used to not having a nanny. Maya was always there to keep her kids when she couldn't be there for them. She was not used to not having a maid in any of her homes. At her home in California, she had a daily housekeeper that kept the house clean. In DC, she hired a cleaning service. Now that she didn't have that luxury, she was baffled at her privilege. Olivia didn't know how she managed her life before she had assistants, housekeepers, an agent, manager, nutrition coach. She didn't know how to be a normal person. She could have hired a staff, but she was trying to have a normal life without her celebrity brand.
Olivia pushed buttons on the dishwasher and gave up when she couldn't figure it out. "I don't know how to use this thing."
"It's a dishwasher Livvie."
"I haven't cleaned a kitchen in almost a decade."
Fitz laughed. He was glad that he never let being famous change him. The astronaut could still cook a meal when he wasn't floating in space.
"We can hire a housekeeper."
"No, I want Sabastian to have a normal family. Regular families don't have that luxury."
Fitz sighed and the newborn lifted his head. He was always looking around, and he was already trying to crawl on his tummy time mat. They had been married for a decade, and they were still technically newlyweds. In all, they had probably only spent a few years seeing each other every day like a normal married couple. Ironically, they spent more time together before their marriage. Fitz started training for space a few months after finishing graduate school. Olivia became a main character on her first TV show. It was impractical to live in DC and fly to LA every weekend. Olivia couldn't take care of Karen and launch her acting career. Amelia wanted to stay in DC with Sophia. It was a difficult choice when Olivia left DC alone with her suitcases. The day still was very sad. Olivia making arrangements with Maya and Bernadette to keep her kids for several months, and explaining to Amelia that she wouldn't be home next week or the week after that. When Olivia kept her kids in California during school breaks, Amelia was scared when screaming fans yelled her name and the flashing lights from cameras. It was like Olivia had two identities. Wife and mother and Olivia the brand. She created personalities for her different roles. She was always acting. Her whole life was a stage. Could you really be yourself when you made your living being another person?
"How about we clean tomorrow?"
Fitz laughed and reached for Olivia's hand, "Okay."
