"I'm mopping the floor."
Olivia pushed a mop around the floor with Sabastian attached in his carrier. Maya was laughing hysterically on speaker phone.
"You're cleaning your house?"
"I'm a normal person."
"When are you coming back to DC?"
"Thanksgiving or Christmas."
"Are you cooking dinner?"
"We're ordering takeout."
"Mom look I found a baby bird!"
Karen ran in the kitchen with muddy shoes and a tiny blue bird in her hand. "Can I keep it?"
"You want a pet bird?" Olivia turned with the mop cleaning the muddy footprints. "Leave those muddy shoes outside."
"Hi Karen!"
"Hi! Where's Savannah and Serenity?"
"They're playing outside."
"When can they come to Vermont?"
"When Livvie invites us."
"I want you to move to Vermont and be a teacher at my new school."
"You're getting new teachers and new friends."
"I want to be a kid forever."
"Maya laughed, "I'm sure you'll be making plans to move out with my twins in a few years."
"I'm going to live with mom and dad forever."
Olivia laughed and kept mopping. Fitz was already talking about having another baby. They would never have an empty nest. Two kids at home in Vermont and one in DC who still asked for an allowance.
"Be careful!" Olivia said, when Fitz almost slipped.
"Livvie, the floor is soaked."
"Yeah, I'm mopping."
"No, you're soaking the floor."
"Fine, you clean. It's tummy time for Sabastian, and I need to take Karen to the pet store."
"Look dad it's a baby bird!"
"Where's it's mom?"
"I don't know."
"Livvie can get a box for it. When I finish mopping, I'll take you to the pet store."
"Sounds like a good idea." Olivia said.
Karen followed Olivia until she gave her one of her designer shoe boxes. Olivia put Sabastian on his tummy time mat and sat next to him. He cooed and smiled trying to lift himself off the floor. After a few minutes, he was tired and yawned. Olivia held him until he fell asleep. Karen ran down the stairs with clean shoes and Olivia put Sabastian in his bassinette. The house would be quiet for a few hours.
