Vol: 7 Chapter 23: Once More Unto the Breach

Jingo Jungle (Saga of Tanya the Evil)

English Lyrics: AmaLee (LeeandLie)

I will lock on love

I will lock on love

(The title Rise of the Iron Wolves: Terramind appears before switching to an image where Cabal soldiers are seen storming across a battlefield as the image slowly transforms to Penny floating in the air as the camera zooms in on her left eye)

Don't go away

There's nowhere else to run

I know that's what we want

I know it's a war we want

(Penny gives the camera a stern look as the camera focuses on her while she sings the next two lines)

So raise your guns

Come on, let's have some fun

I know that's what we want

I know it's a war we want

(Penny stands in front of Wolfgang's grave with Team RWBY, all five of them saluting as Penny sings the last two lines again)

Coming up … Coming up

The eyes that only see prey

An instinct to act on

The bloodlust and it's just

Not enough … Not enough

But that's the chain of command

And now we know we must not hide

(A darkened shot of the Hellas Basin Schnee tech lab appears with a very faint and almost transparent figure of Penny, Weiss and Winter appear in the base standing there and walking towards the screen while their designs change from Vol. 1 to current. Then show's the image of of Penny's old robot body, one of Winters old dolls and a portrait of the Schnee family before the three destroy them)

We honor the JINGOS (oh oh oh)

And the beast we unleash

To indulge in our desires

We are in the JUNGLE (oh oh oh)

With our claws – a killing spree

With our fangs – Can you keep up with me? (Ohh)

(The next images are of Deus, Ironwood and Sky, before changing to Penny and team RWBY standing in front of Rasputin, and then to a shadow shot of what looks like a Knight in robes, a girl in a dress and a giant worm. It then transitions to Penny, Winter, and Weiss's eyes switching rapidly and looking at the screen.)

I will lock on love

I will lock on love

(Bullets fly before the final shot is of Penny, Weiss and Winter standing with their backs to the camera as they stood in the melting snow of the Hellas Basin, before the image burned away.)

-Schnee Science and Research, Hellas Basin-

"Wait, so that thing we're hearing outside, that's Xol?" Yang asked Deus as he and Team RWBY left the entrance to Rasputin's main core, leaving Winter and Penny to try and communicate with the Terramind inside said core.

"Yes. He is considered to be the weakest of his brethren, which is why he left for Solitas as his brothers were sealed away one by one." Deus nodded. "He was trying to save his own skin before his brother Ur, the Ever Hunger, could consume him."

"Talk about a dysfunctional family." Weiss remarked. "Which is saying something when you consider what our families are like."

Meanwhile at the terminal from earlier, Blake and Ruby were listening to the Connoisseur AI explain the Terramind project.

"The goal of the Terramind project is to prepare our defenses against unseen threats. We are still learning about how to interface with Rasputin, but it's already in the process of helping to forge new weapons suited to protecting humanity." It began. "Communication with the Terramind has been a logistical concern since the project's inception. But the Hephaestus index is a promising first step towards cooperation with our new commander and protector. This catalogue of next-generation weapons ranges from planetary cannons, to small and mid sized arms for use in ground infantry." The AI continued.

"Think we can get our hands on some of those?" Ruby wondered. Blake shrugged a bit as the AI continued.

"There are currently 150 projects in different stages of research and development. By parsing data and forming calculations at a phenomenal rate, Rasputin is capable of giving instructions in the form of math, the language of the universe." It continued. "With Schnee Science engineers and Rasputin working side by side, we can rest assured that our children will live in a prosperous safe Remnant." It finished.

"Hm… We may want to consider looking into the Hephaestus index." Blake hummed thoughtfully.

"Better in our hands than the Cabal, as far as I'm concerned." Ruby nodded. Right as a red bullhead flew right over them. "Speaking of…"

"The Cabal can wait." Deus told them. "For now we need to get to the Immortal Rage, and quickly. It's the only thing that can get us from Solitas to Sonas in a short enough time frame."

"Right." The girls chorused.

Tyrian stumbled to the ground as Lobo and Cinder entered behind him where Watts was waiting for them in their hideout, the man still tinkering with the Synaptic Amplifier.

"I take it you two were successful?" The man asked, not taking his attention off his work.

"Oh yes. Quite." Cinder nodded.

"And I think we may have thrown a rock at the hornet's nest, so to speak." Lobo added. "Just before we left, the geek let out one of the angriest roars I've ever heard." He continued.

"It couldn't have been that bad, could it?" The former doctor shrugged.

"You weren't there." The Knight told him.

"I'm fine too, Arthur. Traumatized and humiliated, but fine." Tyrian complained as he sat down, his arms folded in a pouting manner. "Thank you for asking." He added in a mock hurt tone as he stroked his sore mechanical tail.

"Oh hush, Tyrian. At least you were rescued before interrogation." The man said, not realizing just how wrong he was.

This remark made Tyrian clam up almost immediately, which unnerved Cinder. "... Please tell me you didn't tell them anything…" She groaned.

"I don't think we were that lucky…" Lobo said, his body tense.

"The interrogator was a dominatrix, okay?! I had no hope of staying quiet under that level of pressure!" The scorpion man barked. "She was just as imposing as Lady Salem. Honestly, I almost mistook them as sisters." He added. This made everyone else groan.

"Great. What else is next?" Cinder griped.

If she only knew…

-Outskirts, Sonas Dead Zone-

The girls all landed in a section of Sonas that was originally part of the Mountain Glenn's outer parts. This place was known as the Outskirts in the Sonas Dead Zone. It was a place overrun with Bandits, Grimm, wild animals, and most recently: Enthralled.

The area was all dilapidated roads, bridges, buildings and towns. Overgrown with centuries worth of forest growth. But the most striking thing in the area, was the titanic sized jagged shard of the moon that laid in the distance of the forest. It's magical properties affect everything around it, from plants, to the soil and rocks, to even the water.

"Damn. This place is warped." Yang whistled as she looked around.

"I hear that." Burn said in agreement.

"We'll need to find something to draw out Xol. Something worth… Feeding on." Deus told the girls.

"What exactly would that be?" Ruby asked as they moved out.

"I'm not really sure I want to know what a monster god feeds on." Weiss said.

"Power. And we've intercepted Red Legion transmissions of a new fragment of the moon that broke off during Salem's assault. Xol won't be able to resist its magic." Deus told them.

"Alright. Let's go get it." Weiss said before their guidance went to shit. "What the- What's happening?!" She barked.

"It's the Enthralled! They're jamming us!" Snowflake exclaimed.

"The Enthralled? There're more rogue ones? How?" Yang gasped.

"Are they after the shard too?" Blake said as they started fighting.

"It doesn't matter. Clear them out." Deus told them. The girls nodded as they started running towards what looked to be large Enthralled Blights. Each outputting a lot of energy that was jamming their instruments.

"These blights are emitting large amounts of dark energy. My sensors can't track the fragment with all this noise." Snowflake told the team.

"Destroy the blights! That should clear it up!" The red cloaked speedster shouted as she sliced several Enthralled in half. The girls quickly dashed into the two blights and started attacking their center, causing it to slowly shrink until they both imploded.

"That definitely cleared up the close a bit. There's still more of it, though." Binx said.

"Tag them, then." Blake ordered. The cat themed AED did so and the girls went to destroy two more blights, clearing up the scanners.

"I've got a solid lock! The fragment it's nearby, but it's readings are inconsistent with other pieces of the moon." Little Rise said, setting a waypoint on everyone's scrolls. As everyone went into a cave, Winter started talking to Deus.

"Deus, assuming this fragment bait plan works, how do you intend to take down Xol without Rasputin?" She questioned.

"I won't have this discussion again, Winter." Deus stated.

"We've faced a Worm God before. Xol shouldn't be that big of a problem to sort." Yang said to the older Schnee sister. "And given that Xol is apparently weaker than Akka, I don't think that he'll be too much of an issue."

"Are you sure about that, Yang? I mean, it was Sky who took down Akka, not us. We only gave him a clear shot." Weiss said.

"I know, but my point still stands. Xol shouldn't be that big of a problem." The blonde replied. As they continued to search for the shard, Penny chimed in.

"I may still be learning, but I'm fairly certain that Rasputin will be the only way for us to stop Xol without Sky to back us up. Any other methods come up with a 40% chance of success at best." She said firmly. "The Valkyrie is what we need to do it."

"We've won against impossible odds before. Without Rasputin." The leader of the Iron Wolves said firmly.

As team RWBY continued looking for the shard, they soon came to a small grove of mutated fauna and odd water. Where the shard was floating freely, and was currently being surrounded by Enthralled.

"We found the Shard, but the Enthralled have done something to it." Ruby said as she let Little Rose examine it. "And it looks like we can't break through." She added before she joined her teammates in trying to take out the Enthralled who were surrounding them. All of them were Enthalled Cabal soldiers, which surprised them, that humans could be enthralled.

"That's… Unexpected." Yang commented slowly.

"Stay where you are. I'll try and change the trajectory of a few warsats to assist you." Penny told them.

"I'm amazed there are any in orbit after all this time." Blake remarked, using her shadows to explode several Enthralled Legionaries with a few fire Dust clones.

"Alright girls get ready to activate your supers in three, two, one. NOW!" Ruby yelled as they all activated their magic powers.

They did so, and the Enthralled fell to them. Several somehow had the mental states to try and escape, but it backfired and they were killed anyway.

"Warsat armed and in position! Requesting orbital support!" Penny said as the satellite moved into position.

"Please, Rasputin give us something!" Winter and Weiss added together. Immediately, several blasts of red energy rained down from orbit at high speed, cutting through the barrier surrounding the shard. When it was over, Team RWBY was speechless at the display.

"... Wow…" Was all Ruby could say with a stunned look.

"So that's what a Warsat is capable of…" Blake said in surprise.

"Terraminds sure are powerful." Yang nodded.

"How did you girls get the Terramind to fire?" Deus asked.

"I just did what dad always told me to do when I needed help: I asked nicely." Penny told him innocently.

"Rasputin was created to help Remnant. He listens to us." Winter added.

"The Terramind fired now, but are you two ready to shoulder responsibility the day it doesn't?" Deus questioned.

"We will." Weiss said resolutely.

"Team RWBY, secure the shard and return to Solitas. It's time to go to war with a god." He declared.

"... Again." Yang added cheekily before Ruby bonked her on the head.

(Elsewhere)

In the center of the main cavern of Xol and Brutus, the robed Grimm Knight currently had the eldest daughter of Ozpin and Salem on her hands and knees as he thrusted in and out of her fertile hips to seed another generation of their Hive army.

"We have been breeding our lord's soldiers for so long, dear Winter, do you think you'd ever want to do anything else than this?" Brutus questioned.

"No~! This is all I need~!" She moaned, her mind long since shattered.

"Then you are content living a life as a breeding slut?" He growled in her ear with a grin, groping her breasts.

"YES~!" Winter (not Schnee) yelled in ecstasy.

"That's a good girl." The boy said as he continued to ravage her.

Dragon Emperor0: Team RWBY is gonna enjoy killing this guy. I know it.

ThermalsniperN7: Assuming Salem doesn't somehow catch wind of what happened to her kids and rip Brutus and Xol to pieces first. Also, Tyrian's safe and away from Sky's wrath… Joy. (Sarcasm)

Dragon Emperor0: Yeah… And what's with Deus's malice towards Rasputin? It's like these two have beef with each other or something. And I just realized something, with how much Tyrian enjoys killing, do you think he could have a throne world?

ThermalsniperN7: If he does, then killing him will be much more of a Herculean task than it should be.

Dragon Emperor0: This is why the sword logic and its effects with the Hive is such an annoying occurrence for us Guardians… Bright side though, after Brutus gets offed, Sky can start working on bringing Wolfgang back.

ThermalsniperN7: Huzzah! Hm… Speaking of, I wonder what he was doing while all this was happening. Probably trying to calm his nerves after getting robbed of his revenge.

Dragon Emperor0: Probably. Anyway guys, see you next time.
