Jupiter was asleep.
And Kiza was not. She took one look at them, and untangled herself from Jupiter's side, and pressed her fingertips against the lips. Silently, Grey drifted to the closet, and Kiza trailed behind them. They stood a little into it, and Kiza smiled at them. They left the door open because they were tasked to watch over Jupiter tonight, same as Kiza. The bee splice leaned in.
"You're upset."
Grey sighed. Rubbed at the remains of their tears. They probably looked like a frightful mess.
"You're brother is an arse."
Kiza giggled, hummed in agreement. She reached for Grey's hands, and Grey allowed her to grip their hands. Relished in the contact of another being that knew them… That called their name.
"He's been through a lot."
"Haven't we all?" they growled, their speech weaving anger and upset.
Caine Wise did not have a monopoly on pain nor heartache.
"I'm sorry. "
"You aren't to blame."
"Neither is he, really."
Grey let out an exhalation.
"He- He hurts Jupiter," they said.
"Jupiter is stronger than that. She is upset, but she knows that people will be afraid of her. She's known this since she decided she was going to face the system that killed her in her first life. Jupiter is the one that is the most upset at this."
"I wish to protect her."
Kiza hummed.
"You can't protect her from everything, Grey."
"I know. But… He has never called my name. He refers to me as it. I am not a person to him, just as Humans of Orous have claimed since they put my people in chains. It is infuriating."
"Many people won't do that. Entitled barely respect splices and that's because we have human DNA… And some people rather believe that they aren't worthy of being a person than acknowledge they are owned by someone else. Grey, you're a person to us, to Jupiter, everyone else we just have to educate or change their minds."
Grey shifted.
"You're Elder is beating the shit out of him in the form of education."
Kiza sighed.
"That's how they communicate. Males and all that."
Grey chirped a laugh.
"Gender guidelines are ridiculous."
AN:
And yet again, I am on the wrong day. But, bonus, two chapters in one day?
Anyway, I wanted to ask:
What is your fave POV and why? I am noticing a certain trend to responses, so I was curious about the reasons?
I know ADORE writing most of the characters for different reasons, and ya'll already know Titus isn't one of them, lol, just because he's so BORING. My favorites for writing would honestly be Kalique, Stinger, and Grey. Kalique is a fun combination of denial and misinterpretation and pretty clothes. Stinger is practical and wary, and tactical and has this long-suffering Dad energy. And Grey is just fun because their culture is from my own mind with the barest framework from the movie, and there is a tragedy of what I've made for them that is enjoyable to write.
