Vol: 7 Chapter 25: Corruption Ended
Jingo Jungle (Saga of Tanya the Evil)
English Lyrics: AmaLee (LeeandLie)
I will lock on love
I will lock on love
(The title Rise of the Iron Wolves: Terramind appears before switching to an image where Cabal soldiers are seen storming across a battlefield as the image slowly transforms to Penny floating in the air as the camera zooms in on her left eye)
Don't go away
There's nowhere else to run
I know that's what we want
I know it's a war we want
(Penny gives the camera a stern look as the camera focuses on her while she sings the next two lines)
So raise your guns
Come on, let's have some fun
I know that's what we want
I know it's a war we want
(Penny stands in front of Wolfgang's grave with Team RWBY, all five of them saluting as Penny sings the last two lines again)
Coming up … Coming up
The eyes that only see prey
An instinct to act on
The bloodlust and it's just
Not enough … Not enough
But that's the chain of command
And now we know we must not hide
(A darkened shot of the Hellas Basin Schnee tech lab appears with a very faint and almost transparent figure of Penny, Weiss and Winter appear in the base standing there and walking towards the screen while their designs change from Vol. 1 to current. Then show's the image of of Penny's old robot body, one of Winters old dolls and a portrait of the Schnee family before the three destroy them)
We honor the JINGOS (oh oh oh)
And the beast we unleash
To indulge in our desires
We are in the JUNGLE (oh oh oh)
With our claws – a killing spree
With our fangs – Can you keep up with me? (Ohh)
(The next images are of Deus, Ironwood and Sky, before changing to Penny and team RWBY standing in front of Rasputin, and then to a shadow shot of what looks like a Knight in robes, a girl in a dress and a giant worm. It then transitions to Penny, Winter, and Weiss's eyes switching rapidly and looking at the screen.)
I will lock on love
I will lock on love
(Bullets fly before the final shot is of Penny, Weiss and Winter standing with their backs to the camera as they stood in the melting snow of the Hellas Basin, before the image burned away.)
-Hellas Basin, Schnee Science and Research-
Ruby and her team stood in front of a terminal as they waited for Winter and Penny to contact them. "The human mind in a mechanical body. We are at the cusp of major advancements of making this a reality, would you like to know more?" The concierge AI asked the girls.
"Do we wanna know?" Yang wondered.
"It could be the predecessor to the Penny project Pietro mentioned." Weiss noted. Ruby pressed the button and the AI continued.
"Early experiments in Exo Science managed to encode human consciousness into a form that could be processed digitally. At the time, we believed that this was the big hurdle that we needed to overcome in the creation of the Exo." The AI continued. "Little did we know that the real challenge would be the phenomenon known as Dissociative Exomind Rejection, or DER."
"That doesn't sound good." Yang said.
"Naccient Proto-Exos developed serious symptoms of cognitive disorder that eventually led to death." The AI continued. "It turned out that the human mind would not reconcile the presence of a new "body". It took many iterations in design, but the Schnee Science corporation eventually developed several solutions."
"What kind of solutions could they have thought up?" Blake wondered.
"I doubt it did much since we don't really see Exos running around these days." Weiss noted.
"The first was to reboot the mind once it was transferred. Allowing the new Exo to awaken in its new shell as if it were being has side effects of memory loss and fragmentation, but it's highly effective in preventing DER." The AI told them. "The process can be done multiple times to further the odds of survival. It's unclear how many times it can be done safely, but scientists estimate it to be around twenty."
"Uh, yeah, you know what? I think I'll keep my body as it is." Ruby decided with a shiver.
"The second preventive measure to DER is to program certain "humanisms" within Exos. As machines, they do not need the physical needs to eat, drink, sleep or reproduce like normal humans. But artificially injecting that drive, has been clinically proven to reduce the odds of DER." The AI continued. "Further experimentation is required to perfect the Exo project, but you can rest assured that the Schnee corporation is at the forefront of the field of Exo Science."
"It didn't mention how they handled Aura…" Ruby noted.
"I don't think they even bothered." Blake said with a frown.
"That's probably why the project never really picked up. Sure a person's mind could live on, but without a soul…" Weiss said.
"What's the point?" Yang finished. It was at this point that they were called by Penny and Winter.
"Girls… You're not going to believe what just happened." Winter told them.
"What happened, and why do you sound excited?" Weiss questioned, noticing the hidden emotion in her sister's voice.
"I… I unlocked my semblance." Penny told them. When Ruby heard that, she felt her heart skip a beat.
"Are you serious?! What is it?!" The silver eyed girl asked excitedly.
"It's technopathy! I can talk to machines!" The gingerette said with an equally excited tone.
"Wait, if that's the case, can you try talking to Rasputin?" Weiss asked.
"We've already tried, but we can't get any answers because of all of the interference Xol is causing. We need to deal with him first." Winter told them.
"Speaking of, where is that apocalyptic danger noodle?" Yang asked, causing the others to laugh at the moniker.
"He's tearing through Rasputin's neural network. And if he does enough damage, he could trigger a chain reaction that will decimate Solitas." Winter replied, chuckling lightly at Xol being called a danger noodle.
"All we know is that we have one advantage left… the Valkyrie." Penny added before Deus chimed in.
"I'll never trust Rasputin. Not after what he did to the original Iron Lords. But we need every weapon we have to defeat Xol… Even if that weapon is powered by a Terramind." Deus stated. The girls summoned their Sparrows and high-tailed it to the power station, fighting all the Hive that were dumb enough to stand in their way.
"If we overload Rasputin's core, we can use the excess energy to overcharge the Valkyrie. That might be our only chance of really hurting Xol." Penny stated as the for girls neared the power station.
"Kill those Hive!" Ruby exclaimed as she shot a Knight in the head. The girls continued to work their way to a terminal.
"Open the cooling vents and then hit the inhibitor with everything you've got." Winter told them. Ruby and Yang quickly took aim before they started shooting at the core, causing it to explode orange.
"Attention. Neural network inhibitors offline. Continued functions will result in critical failure." The concierge AI told them over the intercoms. "All personnel are advised to use safety protocols. Remember, a safe work environment is a happy work environment." It continued as they charged on.
The girls then arrived at a room overlooking the core with yet more Hive, which they immediately killed. As soon as that was done, Little Rose noticed something.
"Let me scan that." He said as he started scanning a vent.
"Oh no, with the inhibitors down the neural network is going crazy." Penny groaned. "I'll try to stabilize it. Defend the area!"
As soon as she said this, more Hive started pouring into the area, prompting the girls to start attacking them as quickly as possible so they weren't overwhelmed.
"They literally don't know how to quit, do they?" Yang mused as she fired an explosive shot at a group of Thralls.
"No they don't!" Ruby called back. As she hacked through and spun herself around to decimate several groups of Acolytes.
"Neural network is stable. Now for the inhibitor." Penny said. Blake quickly grabbed the javelin and threw it into a few groups of hive before sending a final one into the inhibitor. "Alright now onto the next core." She added as Team RWBY continued on.
"Warning: Energy levels rising. Personnel are recommended to evacuate." The AI blared over the speakers.
The girls continued to the next core and were met by a high witch, groups of Acolytes, and Cursed Thrall. Ruby quickly shot a Thrall in the head, causing all of them to blow up. This allowed Blake to swing in and drop on the Acolytes, slashing them apart and dodging their attacks with clones, taking them out. While Weiss and Yang defeated the Witch by the heiress using the same heart stab attack she used on Brutus to freeze it solid and Yang to shatter it with a powerful punch.
"Alright girls, attack the inhibitor!" Ruby ordered. They did so, and it went out just like the previous two.
"Good work! Get to the core before it goes critical. It's time to forge a new Valkyrie." Winter said as the girls headed for the core. As they entered they were soon met by more thralls and another Witch.
The smaller creatures started attacking Yang and dog piling her, trying to smother her with their combined body weight. The others were busy trying not to get shot by the Witch's dark bolts.
"Dammit, we need to help Yang!" Blake exclaimed before...
"RAAAAAAGGGGHHHH!" Yang roared as she activated her battle form with an explosion and sent the Thralls flying everywhere, most of them dying on impact. She glared at the Witch before she lunged at it and grabbed it by the throat. She then proceeded to slowly rip it in half while the poor Hive screeched in pain before going quiet as it was finally ripped in half by the Queen of the Immortal Rage.
"... She looks good like that." Blake said without thinking, a massive blush on her face.
"Stabilized. Kind of." Penny said.
"Okay throw the Valkyrie into the core to cause a full meltdown." Winter added as Yang slowly turned back to normal and then picked up the Valkyrie and went into the core before hurling the spear into it.
"Complete core meltdown initiated. If you can hear this message, you are too close to the core." The concierge AI blared.
"The Valkyrie is emitting energies far beyond what my sensors are capable of analyzing." Snowflake commented.
As they continued forward, the girls soon reached a catwalk to the main bunker at Hellas View, but before they could reach it, Xol tore through the wall and prompted them to jump down. Weiss was still holding on tightly to the spear as she called on three more and tossed them to her team.
"I've never seen something that powerful before. Be careful!" Binx warned them.
"Alright ladies, get ready…" Ruby said, pulling her arm back as Xol roared at them, the other girls following suit. "Now!" She yelled as they started throwing spear after spear at the Worm God.
Xol recoiled and roared at them again, but Weiss used that moment to send a spear into his eye, stunning him. As he was stunned, Hive started appearing again while their leader was incapacitated.
The rest of the team started keeping the ads busy while Ruby started using her sniper rifle to shoot at weak spots in Xol's armor, causing more damage to him before he snapped back to consciousness and disappeared underneath them.
"Try to hold on a little longer. Penny's bringing the neural net online." Burn told the group.
"Actually I'm trying to, Penny's…" Winter said before a green laser suddenly blasted the Hive away and nailed Xol in the face as Penny came flying in and started attacking the creature while working on the Valkyrie with Winter at the same time by using her semblance.
"... Oh." Was all Yang could say in a stunned tone.
"Well, I think it's safe to say that she's getting used to her human body." Weiss noted as she decided to use her summoning to summon all three of her creatures at a massive scale, allowing Penny to jump back as they distracted Xol.
Weiss's Queen Lancer used its stingers to keep it from running, the Arma Gigas held onto its body in a bear hug, and the Boarbatusk used its spin attack to knock Xol into a daze. More Hive poured in as the worm laid dazed.
"Hey Ruby, think you can use your eyes on these guys?" Yang asked as everyone took a moment to regroup and reload.
"Only one way to find out." The girl in question replied as she closed her eyes and concentrated. She slowly drowned out all distractions before she opened her eyes again and a blinding light blasted the Hive and destroyed them and managed to freeze Xol in his tracks. The Worm struggled to break free of its partial petrification.
"Valkyrie's back online! Light him up girls!" Winter and Penny yelled. Team RWBY didn't even hesitate as they grabbed the Valkyrie and peppered Xol in his vulnerable state, causing significant damage and putting him in critical condition. Before they could finish him, though, he broke free and disappeared again.
"We almost have him! This is almost over!" Ruby exclaimed as Hive appeared. Weiss summoned her Arma Gigas again and it started cleaving through the Hive, prompting Xol to appear again.
"Now you're mine Xol!" The heiress yelled as she activated her super and started blasting the Worm God with blasts of Stasis. The runt of the Worm Gods tried to withstand it, but it was in vain. With one final blast of magic from Weiss, Xol let out a death scream as he fell to the platform, dead.
"You did it, girls! You've killed a Worm God!" Winter exclaimed in delight.
"Yeah!" Team RWBY and Penny cheered as they all high fived each other.
"Now we know how Sky felt after killing Akka!" Yang grinned.
"Oh yeah. No buts about that." Weiss nodded in agreement.
"Come on, it's time for you all to meet Rasputin." Penny told them as they left the corpse of Xol to rot.
(Later)
Team RWBY, Winter, Penny and Deus all stood outside of Rasputin's main housing unit. Ruby and Weiss nodded at the latter two as they entered the room, which was bathed in orange-red light as Rasputin came online. The song "Rasputin" By Boney M. Instrumental music played in an orchestra style as the Terramind began speaking.
"The Schnee family shaped me to be an all seeing savior while your Iron Wolves and military sought to wield me like a primitive weapon. But today, that ends. And I define the reality of my own existence." Penny began in Rasputin's place as the Terramind used the cannons around the facility to launch a new network of warsats into orbit. "My reach will extend to the edges of this solar system and beyond. Never again will a threat go unseen. Now I shall defend humanity on my own terms. I am Rasputin, guardian of all I survey. I have no equal." The girl finished as the Terramind went quiet.
"What have we done?" Deus questioned, realizing the gravity of the situation.
"Don't worry." Winter said as she placed her hand on a scanner and was recognized in the system. "We got this." She added with a smirk.
(Later)
The girls then met up with Penny and Winter at their work station in the main facility. "You ever heard of the saying "Be Careful What You Wish For?'' Penny asked her friends.
"Kinda hard not to hear that in our line of work." Ruby nodded.
"Yes, well it's been going through our heads ever since we saw Rasputin start launching a new Warsat network… Under his sole control." Winter said.
"But we can still talk to him, right?" Weiss asked. "Is he still willing to listen to us?"
The older Schnee nodded. "He's willing to listen to the three of us. But only us." She told her sister.
"Should we be scared?" Ruby chimed in.
"Any rational person would." Blake shrugged.
"Then, is it weird that we're not?" Yang asked, before Penny answered.
"I don't think so, because I know no matter what comes. We'll face it together." The girl said.
"Yeah we will." Ruby nodded in agreement.

-Iron Temple-
"Okay… Let's get this over with." Sky said as he looked down at Wolfgang's corpse as he held Xol's Resurrection tablet. Everyone watched with bated breath, Especially the Prowls and Weiss.
'Please work…' They all thought. Sky then began chanting in the same way as when he read the Tablets of Unmaking, getting a reaction in the form of Wolfgang's corpse beginning to glow.
The light got brighter before everyone had to cover their eyes.
-World between worlds-
Sky soon found himself in a white void standing in front of Wolfgang as the Wolf Faunus stood there tapping his foot impatiently. Eyes narrowed, ears down, and arms folded.
"You better have a damn good excuse for disturbing me like this, Obsidian." He growled. Sky meanwhile didn't say anything and hugged him tightly. This got a surprised look from his rival. "Um… Huh?" He uttered.
"I'm sorry for not making my opinion on you clear. I didn't realize that I sent such a mixed message to you." Sky told him. "I missed you… My friend." He added softly.
"... Yeah… I actually missed you too, buddy." The wolf boy sighed as he hugged the lancer of the two of them back. "But seriously though, why are we here?" He asked, pulling back.
"You're needed back in the land of the living. Not just for the prophecy, but for Weiss, too. She was beyond devastated when you died." The King explained.
"Oh fuck. How bad was it?" Wolfgang asked in concern for his alpha female.
"She did two things: 1. She let her grief control her to the point she had to go to the hospital. 2. She made a wish in the presence of a fossilized Ahamkara heart." Sky replied.
…
SMACK!
"Goddamn it." The boy growled as he facepalmed himself.
"Yeah, I shit you not when I say that I one-inch-punched a wall on the Immortal Rage to rubble when I found out about that second one." The black haired boy replied. "I had a lot of stress on my plate that day." He added.
"Yeesh." Wolfgang said. "Anything else?"
"Ironwood says he has a plan to beat Salem if plan A fails. But he needs you in order to complete it." The Knight said.
"Yeah well, Uncle James usually says he has a plan, but sometimes he just— Wait, Ironwood says he needs me?" The boy asked. "As in you heard those exact words coming out of his mouth?"
"Yes I did." Sky nodded.
"Please tell me you recorded it?!" Wolfgang pleaded.
"I did, but I can't show you here since I can't use electronics in this place." The Knight of Yul replied. It was true. He had Gurren discreetly record Ironwood say that he needed Wolfgang in order to help get his rival to come back.
"... Okay, you win. Let's go." The wolf faunus conceded.
"Really? That's all it took?" His rival questioned.
"Don't be so full of yourself. I'm going because Weiss needs me." Wolfgang retorted. "Now let's go."
"Alrighty then." Sky shrugged as he grabbed his rival's shoulder and brought him back to the land of the living.
-Iron Temple-
The light suddenly vanished as Sky stood there and everyone looked at Wolfgang as color started to return to his body and the wound that killed him closed up… Before his eyes shot open and he sat up with a start.
"HOLY SHIT I JUST GOT SHOT!" He gasped as he sat up, breathing heavily.
"It worked… It actually worked…" Deus breathed in amazement while his wife rushed up to her son and hugged him.
"Wolfgang!" Fey cried as she, Leopold and Deus hugged the boy as he started to calm down from the flash he just had of Torchwick shooting him.
"Okay… Okay. How long was I dead? I remember dying… I should probably see a counsellor about that." The newly revived boy sighed.
"Four… possibly five months?" Ruby offered.
"Amity Tower is three days away from being launched." Yang added.
"I killed the Captains and the Last Ahamkara while also plunging the Dreaming City into a time loop." Jaune continued.
"Weiss, myself and Robyn Hill are on the council." Blake continued.
"And the girls and I just helped reawaken Rasputin." Winter added.
"Emerald also gave birth to a pair of adorable twins." Sky pitched in. "She and Autumn also joined the Happy Huntresses. And Xol is dead."
"Me and Blake joined up with Sky and Yang." Sun continued.
"Yang's pregnant." Foxxianna pitched in.
"And…" Oscar continued, before Penny stepped forward and waved. "Penny's human now." He finished.
…
…
"Damn, you guys were busy." Wolfgang remarked. Weiss then came up and kissed him passionately. "I take it you missed me, princess?" He asked her.
"More than you can possibly imagine." She whispered as happy tears poured from her eyes.
"Me too." He told her. "Hey, if Emerald and Autumn are with Robyn… Then where's Neo?" The boy asked.
"Working for Sienna." Sky replied.
"Oh." Was his reply before flexing his wrists and trying to concentrate on his aura… and suddenly found that he couldn't generate it. "What the… What's wrong with my aura?" He wondered.
Everyone looked at each other before Weiss seemed to slump in guilt. "It's my fault. This must've happened because of the bargain I made with that Ahamkara. It allowed me to get what we needed to bring you back, but at the cost of your aura." She said.
"Ah shit." The wolf faunus cursed. Deus meanwhile nodded.
"So this is how that part of the prophecy worked out…" He noted.
"What?" Everyone asked.
"It foretold that the chosen one would lose his powers after returning from the dead. And in order to regain them, he had to take the Staff of Creation to the Iron Hill and create a Demi relic like the Oracle Crown." He told them. "During this journey he would face many trials that would push him to the limit."
"... Fuck." Wolfgang groaned as Weiss hugged him close.
"At least you're back now." She said with a smile. "And I have a surprise for you tonight." She added with a whisper as his ears perked up.

Meanwhile in the villain's hideout, Watts and the rest of his team had just given Salem the news of Xol and Brutus's demise. As well as the success of her murder battery time loop. Needless to say she was pleased with the latter, but furious with the former, since she knew its implications.
"If Xol and Brutus are dead, then that means the Knight of Yul has acquired the secret of Necromancy." She stated through the Seer.
"Is there a chance at acquiring it before it can be used?" Watts inquired.
"Sky Obsidian has proven to be powerful and resourceful so far, and very smart. If he does have it, then he's likely stored it on his ship. The chances of acquiring that tablet are very slim to none." The immortal woman replied with a shake of her head. "And if what I've heard is true from Lobo, then sneaking aboard is ill advised." She added.
"Which means Wolfgang will most likely be back…" Cinder noted.
"And what's worse is that the kingdom of Atlas and Mantle aren't divided as we hoped, but united!" Tyrian wailed in dismay. Salem nodded, this did worsen things.
"Fortunately though I do have a plan B." Watts said, presenting the Synaptic Amplifier. "By using this, we could possibly try and take over not only the Hive, but also the Enthralled and possibly even the Grimm Knight or one of his friends." He told his boss. "Though it still needs work."
Salem nodded. "I see. Well, I too have developed a Failsafe plan of sorts as well." She informed them.
"That being?" Lobo asked.
"I will use a universal attraction spell to pull a large meteor towards Atlas. The impact of which will wipe it from the face of Remnant as well as our enemies. However, this will push my arrival back six, possibly seven months." She replied. "So in the meantime I will need you to figure out a way to keep them distracted so they won't notice it."
"I think I may have just the thing." Watts grinned as he held up codes to Atlas' heading grid. "It's about to get really chilly outside this week." He smirked as everyone started to chuckle darkly.
(Elsewhere)
Back with Wolfgang, he was finally able to settle in after being filled in about everything that happened while he was gone. And as soon as he entered his and Weiss's room, he found a very welcoming sight.
Weiss was standing there, naked as the day she was born. What really got his attention was the fact that Winter was also there without a shred of clothing on her body. After his little experience with Yang, he realized that Sky was onto something when it came to developed girls. And he'd be a liar if he said Winter wasn't sexy as hell. The two sisters looked at him and smiled in a very sexy manner.
"Welcome back Wolfie, I hope you don't mind but we really want to make up for lost time." Weiss smiled as she and Winter embraced, their breasts smooshed together.
"So I hope you're up for a long night." Winter added, kissing Weiss passionately. The sight caused the wolf faunus to get hard almost immediately. He then discarded his clothes and pounced on them, getting excited squeals in return.
Yep, it was good to be alive again.
(Elsewhere)
Meanwhile in the mines not far from a spot of Solitas called the Plaguelands, which the abandoned city of Fortuna bordered, a group of soldiers led by the Ace Ops searched for what Wolfgang said was in them.
"Anything?" Harriet called as she looked around.
"Nothing yet." Marrow called back as Elm swung her hammer and knocked out a wall. "Hey, watch it!" He yelled as he jumped out of the way. As they looked through the hole, their eyes widened. "Whoa." They both said together.
"What's going on over here? Find something?" Clover asked.
"Yep. Take a look." Marrow replied as he gestured to what was found. Inside was a large room that looked similar to a Terramind bunker but was smaller and with more functionality. Screens popped to life as a red symbol that looked like two Terramind symbols stacked diagonally the left bottom side open appeared… and then a distorted voice came over the speaker in the room.
They couldn't understand it, but it said: "Siva replication complex security breach. Dawn to Dusk Protocol activated. New nanite directive accepted: Consume, Replicate, Purge, Immunize. Commence directive." Seconds later, hundreds—no—thousands—millions of red nanites started buzzing through the air and swarming everywhere… before they went in a giant wave towards the Ace Ops and the soldiers.
A plague had just begun.
Dragon Emperor0: Well there you have it guys. Terramind is done, Wolfgang is back, and now we've set up Return to Iron and the seasons that will come before and after it. Season of the Nomad and Season of the Worthy respectively.
ThermalsniperN7: And apparently Watts has a lot of chaos in mind with that synaptic amplifier. Controlling the Enthralled? Controlling Sky? That can only end badly… Though for who is unclear.
Dragon Emperor0: He could end up doing it with Penny instead. Who knows? Anyway guys, see you next time with the first chapter of the Season of the Nomad and the start of the Allegiance Quest.
