"Woah. The pancakes really jiggle!" Megumi exclaims as she sat in her seat. Zoro always makes fluffy waffles, they rarely get pancakes and the pancakes he does make are also fluffy but they never jiggle. Sanji and Nami smile at her.
"They also look delicious." Nami adds looking at the child's pancake. Two stacked on top of each other with whip cream on top, with a chocolate drizzle on top, banana and strawberry in between both of them and decorated on top and sides. On another plate there are two sausages and a hashbrown with chocolate milk.
"Yup." Megumi agrees. She almost didn't want to eat it. She looks at Sanji. "Daddy take a picture to send to mommy." Megumi says as she smacks his arm. Sanji just smiles.
"Alright, alright." He says taking his phone out and takes a picture of Megumi's breakfast. He takes the picture of Megumi and the pancakes. As he looks down at his phone to send the picture Megumi digs in. As much as it looked to good to eat, it also looked too good not to eat.
"Thank you for the meal." She says before digging in. Nami smiles as she watch Megumi happily stuff her cheeks until she couldn't anymore.
"I'm surprised you were willing to meet me here today. And with Megumi no less." Nami says, knowing the chef didn't like feeding Zoro and Megumi out too much, their friend gatherings a special occasion. They still had things to plan for the wedding. "But why isn't Zoro here too?" She asks. She would have liked to have both of them since she was thinking about looking at some venues today.
"He's busy today." Sanji answers having send Zoro the picture. He looks at his meal, omurice. A mostly Japanese dish.
"Is it serious? Is he okay?" Nami asks seeing the man's reaction.
"He's fine. But it needs to happen. He's just seeing someone."
"Is it that place you asked my help to find?" Nami asks.
"No somewhere else." Sanji answers. Nami just stares. Well, if it were serious she knew Sanji wouldn't be sitting in front of him enjoying breakfast so calmly.
"So what did happen at that place? Did you go yet?" Nami asks.
"Yeah. We went a while ago. Zoro seemed better after that. We invited them to the wedding too."
"Did he have fun?"
"We all did." Sanji answers.
"That's good." Nami says.
Zoro stared at the clock on the side of the bed he shared with Sanji. It was about time to start getting ready. He had decided that today would be the day to see sensei. It was the weekend so it is his day off. He knew Nami wanted to do things for the wedding but he trust Sanji, so he'll let the man deal with it. Plus Megumi is with them.
He would have brought her along but he didn't want an energetic child to bother sensei too much. Plus he didn't know how bad sensei's condition is. He also doesn't know about Megumi. If he did show up to the front door with Megumi he might keel over from shock. One thing at a time. It had been so long since he saw the man that they have a lot to catch up on. He better get ready.
Zoro gets up and takes a shower. Putting on some of his finest clothes, the ones Nami got him, putting on an outfit she sent him long ago. He wore converse, jeans, a blue polo shirt and his lightweight windbreaker. After getting ready he left the apartment, locking it behind him. Zoro put the address the private detective gave him to go to in the maps apps.
Following the map he got there a little later than it said he would arrive but he did get there. He's at the dojo. He stared at the cobblestone steps that lead to the door. As he walked to the door he started getting flashbacks of all the times he would walk on these steps happily. He stood in front of the door looking around, amazed the place hasn't changed one bit. It all looked the same, everything was in the same place, even the rocks. Zoro rang the doorbell. He didn't wait long before the door is slid open. He is met face to face with the private detective. "Hello." Zoro says a little shocked to see him there.
"Zoro, sensei is waiting for you. I'll show you there." He says as he lets Zoro in. So maybe he was a student, just like he was. Zoro takes his shoes off, then follows the man into the house part of the dojo. He follows the man he still doesn't know of until they stop at a door, "sensei he's here." The man says. He doesn't get an answer before he slides the door open to a room full of tatami mats. "Go in. I'll make some tea." He says. Zoro walks in and hears behind him the door sliding closed. He looks forward and sees a futon on the floor with sensei sitting on it with something to support his back, leaning back on it. The man looked sick, and old but it has been fifteen years, give or take, maybe more since the last time he saw the man.
Sensei smiles at Zoro, a little shocked to see him but glad and happy to see him. He looks well. "Zoro." He says, pausing to take in Zoro's figure. "You've grown out of your baby face." He points out. Zoro smiles.
"I have." He answers back as he goes and sits next to the man. Sensei just stared at Zoro, who just smiled back at him. He was looking for Zoro for a long time.
"So what's been going on with your life?" He asks. Zoro smiles. He looks down at his lap.
"Well, it was hard after Kuina but I made it through. Met some friends. Really good friends."
"What are they like?" He asks. Just the fact that they are friends with Zoro means they are special. Plus they made him smile like that.
"Well, Luffy is wild but honest. I like that about him. He's also strong." Zoro says, sensei a little shocked to hear Zoro admit someone is strong. "Nami is a little sneaky but she means well. Usopp loves to tell lies and scares easily but if he needs to step up then he will. Franky is weird but he's nice and the things he makes are amazing. Brook is also weird but he is amazing when it comes to singing and playing instruments. Robin is very nice and smart too, she's got her own quirks though. Chopper is very innocent and gullible but he takes care of us. He's a doctor now. Then there's... Sanji. He's an amazing chef. Everything he cooks is amazing and delicious." Zoro says beaming with pride. Sensei smiles, glad to know Zoro wasn't alone after Kuina.
"What going on in your life now?" He asks.
"My life now?" Zoro asks back. Sensei just nods. "Well, during high school I learned that I am a carrier."
"Really?" Sensei asks shocked. Zoro nods.
"Because of that I gave birth to my daughter, Megumi." Zoro takes his phone out. "Here is a picture of her." He says showing a picture of Megumi and him together. Sensei takes the phone and looks at him, smiling at both of their happy faces.
"She looks just like you." He says handing the phone back to him. Zoro smiles, he's been told.
"Yeah. And..." Zoro takes a breath. Here goes nothing. "I'm also getting married to her father. Sanji. The chef I told you about." Zoro says. He could see it on sensei's face he is shocked. The old man looked at him shocked.
"Well, congratulations." Sensei says.
"Thanks." Zoro beams.
Sensei looked to the side, looking at the light coming in from the paper sliding door on the other side of him. He smiled as he remembered the talk he had with Zoro. The happy young man told him many things. More about his friends, about the people he's met. He knew Zoro left somethings out but the man looked happy and was radiating like the sun. He is happy to see the man so happy, a big difference to how he was when he first met him. They even talked about Megumi coming next time.
The door on the other side slide open. In came one of his older students. A lot older than Zoro. "You seem happy." He points out as he closes the door. Sensei nods as the man sat next to him.
"I was a little worried about what happened to him after Kuina. So I'm happy to see him so cheerful. He was never like that when he was younger." He says.
"Was he worse than Kuina. She was always so grumpy. She was like a younger sister to me who could kick my ass but-"
"Language." He warns.
"Sorry," he smiles. "But she could beat me anyday, even though she was younger. But she was also so serious all the time." He says. Sensei just smiles.
"You were like her older brother while Zoro was like her younger brother." He says with a smile. Wondering how it would have been with all three of them together.
"That explains it." Explains why he was looking for Zoro for so long.
"This is good. I'm glad you were able to finally find him." He smiles at the man. He keels over, coughing very hard.
"Sensei!" The man shouts sitting up to help the old man. Worried. When sensei calms down he stares at him for a second before getting up and opening the sliding door to let in some air.
"I have a favor to ask." Sensei tells the man.
"Anything." He answers.
"I think it's time to write my will, now that I meet Zoro again. And... can you get one of the pictures? I have to tell my friend something, he's waited long enough."
