Vol: 7 Chapter 28: Launch

Jingo Jungle (Saga of Tanya the Evil)

English Lyrics: AmaLee (LeeandLie)

I will lock on love

I will lock on love

(The title Rise of the Iron Wolves: Terramind appears before switching to an image where Cabal soldiers are seen storming across a battlefield as the image slowly transforms to Penny floating in the air as the camera zooms in on her left eye)

Don't go away

There's nowhere else to run

I know that's what we want

I know it's a war we want

(Penny gives the camera a stern look as the camera focuses on her while she sings the next two lines)

So raise your guns

Come on, let's have some fun

I know that's what we want

I know it's a war we want

(Penny stands in front of Wolfgang's grave with Team RWBY, all five of them saluting as Penny sings the last two lines again)

Coming up … Coming up

The eyes that only see prey

An instinct to act on

The bloodlust and it's just

Not enough … Not enough

But that's the chain of command

And now we know we must not hide

(A darkened shot of the Hellas Basin Schnee tech lab appears with a very faint and almost transparent figure of Penny, Weiss and Winter appear in the base standing there and walking towards the screen while their designs change from Vol. 1 to current. Then show's the image of of Penny's old robot body, one of Winters old dolls and a portrait of the Schnee family before the three destroy them)

We honor the JINGOS (oh oh oh)

And the beast we unleash

To indulge in our desires

We are in the JUNGLE (oh oh oh)

With our claws – a killing spree

With our fangs – Can you keep up with me? (Ohh)

(The next images are of Deus, Ironwood and Sky, before changing to Penny and team RWBY standing in front of Rasputin, and then to a shadow shot of what looks like a Knight in robes, a girl in a dress and a giant worm. It then transitions to Penny, Winter, and Weiss's eyes switching rapidly and looking at the screen.)

I will lock on love

I will lock on love

(Bullets fly before the final shot is of Penny, Weiss and Winter standing with their backs to the camera as they stood in the melting snow of the Hellas Basin, before the image burned away.)

-Council Meeting room, Atlas-

Everyone was in the meeting room of the Atlas Council. Robyn and the Happy Huntresses, Winter, Pietro, Penny, The Ace Ops, the Council, and Teams JNPR, ARSN and RWBY. Sky and the Iron Lords were there too, but they mainly stayed clear of the main groups as to not show bias in the event arguing broke out. The topic of today's discussion? Today was the day of Amity Tower's launch. And they were going over plans.

"Okay, today's the day Amity Tower launches. We need to make sure it's secure and no one sabotages it prior to launch." Ironwood stated seriously.

"My scouts are still working around the clock, so that shouldn't be an issue." Sky told him. "The real issue is getting Amity up into space. Dust loses propulsion the farther it gets from the surface, so we'll need something else." He added.

"Normally I'd suggest using an oversoul, but we already poured enough of our resources into creating the one holding Atlas up." Autumn said. That's when an idea came to Penny.

"Wait a minute, what if we were to use the same fuel Sky's aircraft use?" She proposed. This made Ruby perk up.

"That's right! That type of fuel is oxygen in liquid form, and if what I've learned is right, it can burn in a vacuum no problem!" She said.

"That could work enough to get it past the atmosphere, but we'd still need one last piece to get it into space." The general nodded.

"I believe we can help with that." Winter and Weiss said.

"What do you two have in mind?" Deus asked.

"Rasputin's Terramind Cells. They have to create anything, but when destroyed they can cause enough of a concussive blast to level a country if large enough." Winter said.

"It's what powers the Warsat's planetary cannons. So if we use a smaller one, it should work fine." Weiss added.

"That's assuming Big Red's willing to let us have some of his Cells." Robyn chimed in.

"True…" Foxxianna chimed in.

"I'll ask him, don't worry." Penny smiled. With that out of the way, Clover cleared his throat.

"I hate to rain on everyone's parade but unfortunately we got a really big problem on our hands when this is done." He told them.

"That being?" Yang asked the good luck charm.

"We investigated the mines after hearing the secret message Wolfgang left in his will. One by one we looked and didn't find anything." Harriet said.

"We were honestly about to give up. That was at least until…" Marrow said before trailing off.

"We found something that we thought had been lost since before the Great War." Vine continued.

"What?" Ruby asked.

"Siva." Elm replied.

"What? What on Remnant is Siva?" Jaune questioned, not recalling ever seeing it mentioned in history books.

"A plague… that destroyed the original Iron Lords." Deus said gravely.

"Siva was a nanotechnology that had the ability to create things out of raw matter, and could be given any directives and have it complete those directives quickly, even after having spent years of being dormant." Pietro told them. "It was a miracle of science like Rasputin and could help us colonize other worlds… in theory at least." He added.

"It sounds like it might also be unstable." Ren noted.

"It was." Deus nodded. "Ladies Jolder, Felwinter, and Efrideet, as well as Lords Radagast, Saladin and Typhon all met their ends at the hands of Siva during the precipice of the Great War." Deus said before grimacing. "Under Rasputin's orders."

"Was he… using it as bait?" Oscar questioned with a gulp.

"Unclear. But we need to address it after Amity Tower launches." Fey stated.

"Right…" Wolfgang sighed.

(Later)

-Amity Launch Site-

"Everything ready?" Harriet called as she, Penny and Ruby zipped around the launch site and Amity to double check everything that needed to be in place.

"Everything looks good so far!" Ruby called back as she kept zipping around.

"Alright everyone, let's get inside the control bunker. We won't want to be around when this thing launches." Clover said as everyone rushed into the bunker.

"Alright, everyone's here. Let's begin." Ironwood said, turning to Pietro. "Everything ready for the first stage of the launch?"

"Yes sir, all systems are ready." The man said.

"Then begin phase one: fire and gravity dust propulsion." The general instructed.

"Affirmative." Pietro replied as he put in the command for the Dust to activate, sending the soon-to-be satellite flying upwards. It started off slow and kept climbing, the Dust getting weaker and weaker with every meter, until it gave out exactly fifteen hundred meters from the stratosphere. "Beginning second stage oxygen burn." He added as the oxygen exploded, causing Amity to be launched to and through the stratosphere, with the inertia giving out exactly fifty meters from space.

"Alright Winter, Weiss, Penny, you're up." Ironwood said. The three girls nodded as they clicked their communicators.

"Right." The three replied. They then began talking to Rasputin. "Alright Rasputin, light it up." Weiss said. The Terramind responded in its distorted voice before an orange mini explosion occurred in the middle of the hover section of the former arena, the force of which sent it past the stratosphere and into space, suspending it in anti gravity.

"It's done!" Pietro exclaimed with a smile, causing everyone to cheer.

"Now we can warn everyone about Salem!" Ruby said in relief.

"Right… Man, this is gonna be a tough one…" Wolfgang sighed. Seconds later everyone's global communication chips in their drones were brought back online.

As soon as this occurred, Blake received a call from Menagerie. "Blake? Blake, can you hear me?" Ghira said as the call came through.

"Clear as day." The cat faunus replied with a smile, happy to hear her dad's voice.

"Good. When I saw that global communications came back up, I just had to call you. Kali is here with me, too." The panther faunus said.

"Thank god you're both okay." Blake sighed.

"We are, but Menagerie has had a very rough month." Kali said. "The Worm God who slumbered here, Ur the Ever Hunger. He's awakened and has started making his way north."

"He nearly destroyed Lua Kuwana in the process." Ghira added.

"What?!" Blake shouted in shock, getting everyone's attention.

"Well that explains why Lobo's here, he must be trying to get ready for his master's arrival." Autumn said.

"Us killing Xol must have been what attracted him." Ruby nodded.

"Solve one issue, get an undetermined number of more issues in return." Pyrrha sighed.

"Yeah…" The Silver eyed girl nodded.

(Later)

-Faustus, Grove of Ulan Tan-

Ruby ran with Crescent Rose deployed as she chased a Devoured Phalanx across Faustus. The Nomad has been helping her track down high level Enthralled and Grimm to charge Thorn's hunger, and zero in on a potential exotic upgrade for Crescent Rose's sniper function.

The Phalanx turned around and started shooting at her, and the girl quickly used her semblance to split apart and appear behind it, shooting it in the back with a fire Dust round and causing it to explode.

This then caused Little Rose to pick up a new trail. This time deep underground.

"Hey, I've got something. Over there." The drone chirped, highlighting an area of interest. The girl kept running until she found a blight being guarded by an Enthralled figure wielding a Shield. It was and Enthralled Nigel, The Knight of Akka!

'What the-! He's supposed to be dead!' Ruby thought in shock. The Enthralled figure glared at her before it approached her.

"Quick! Use your Super!" Little Rose told her. The Enthralled Knight turned to her as it approached, and got ready to fight.

Ruby nodded and activated her super, freezing him first and then started hacking and slashing at him as quickly as possible, shattering his shield and then started shooting him repeatedly in the face until it and the blight disappeared, allowing them to go deeper underground to the next location.

"Ugh… Great. Now I feel like I'm being watched." The girl grunted as she kept pushing forward. Sure enough…

"There is… no… light… here." The voice of Xol boomed all around her. The structure below them was absolutely covered in Viral structures, radiolarian rivers and other such parts.

"No way… Is Xol… Still alive?" Ruby gasped as they jumped from platform to platform to get deeper underground.

"I don't think so… At least, I don't think he's alive traditionally." Little Rose said as he looked around.

As they continued on, they soon ran across some more Enthralled as well as some blights that were locking down the area.

Ruby decided to end this quickly and then used her silver eyes, destroying them in a literal flash. Though as they continued down, the two then reached the bottom where a final Enthralled was waiting: an Enthralled Vernal, Raven's former lieutenant.

"Okay, what the hell is with the Enthralled dead people?!" The cloaked sniper couldn't help but question, finding the concept utterly ridiculous.

The figure rushed her and to her credit was keeping Ruby on her toes, unable to use her semblance due to the confined space and unable to use her silver eyes because she wasn't able to concentrate. So she was stuck with just using her weapon.

"You… shall… drift." Xol spoke again. Ruby growled slightly as she kicked the figure away and fired three shots at it.

"You… Shall… Drown… in the Deep." Xol spoke as Vernal ran towards her, blade arms stretched out at her sides, but Ruby dodged. She then hooked her midsection with the inside of Crescent Rose's blade, before using gravity dust to hurl herself forward, slicing the figure in half… and for the pieces of a sniper rifle to be left behind.

"Huh?" Ruby muttered as she examined the pieces. Almost immediately, she felt something… Alive, about them.

"We should get these to Nomad." Little Rose said.

(Later)

-Annex, Atlas Academy-

Nomad had been working on Crescent Rose for hours, trying to use the pieces Ruby found to upgrade it. And he was finally finished. Additionally he also finished repairing her Thorn enough to where they could now start entering phase two of its reconstruction: feeding it power to regain its abilities.

"I knew your scythe's upgrade would make it tougher, but damn does it look even cooler!" He exclaimed with a grin as he held the newly evolved Crescent Rose out to Ruby. True to his word, it looked very different.

It now seemed to be covered in the same energy as the Enthralled on the inside of the blade an inside its gun form. But it also had armor plating that looked exactly like Xol's all over it. It was painted in the original colors of Crescent Rose.

"And Thorn?" The girl asked.

"It still needs one more thing: for its bullets to feed on the auras of twenty Huntsmen in the Crucible, Iron Banner, Gambit or Gambit Prime, and the energy of three Primevals." The man said. He explained.

"Oh joy…" Ruby sighed flatly as her shoulders slumped slightly.

"Hey, I warned ya." Nomad shrugged. "And be careful, I've seen some pretty strong willed people go crazy after shooting these things twice." The man added.

"Right." The silver eyed girl nodded as she gave her Thorn a wary look. It was jagged and sharp, it's handle wrapped in red leather cloth strips with a claw at the end. Two blood red orbs were on the end and tip of its long triangle shaped barrel, and its chamber looked like it was a cylinder of teeth rows, which glowed grey.

Nomad then took out a glass of water and polished Crescent Rose. "I christen the: The Whisper of the Worm!" He said with a chuckle. "Seriously though. I suggest taking these to Gambit Prime. You can test the new upgrade and get the objectives cleared in just one go. And then you can take the armor motes to the Haul to do the Nine's Reckoning test." He suggested. "Three nevermores, one bullet."

"Now that's a good plan." Ruby grinned as she left to do just that.

(The next day)

-Old Vale Ruins, VDZ-

Team RWBY was currently on the Derelict awaiting the Nomad to drop them down to the location of their battle against a random team of Huntsmen from Mistral.

Nomad tossed one of his coins to his free hand before rolling a few more between his fingers. "Alright Mavericks, ready to see what you're fighting today?" He asked before holding up a coin with the symbol for the Viral. "Viral on the field!" He said as the teams got ready. "If you disable the self destruction function on a Viral Hydra before it blows, it can make a great shelter. True story."

"Now if only we could do that for their guns…" Ruby sighed. 'So much information, forever out of reach…' She lamented internally.

"Transmat firing!" Nomad said as they were sent down. "Look alive, sister! Hostiles brought out the

big guns!" He told them. "Hostiles incoming at the burrow!"

Team RWBY rushed over to the burrow and found it crawling with Viral. Mainly Goblins and Fanatics led by a couple Minotaurs.

"Take them out whole-sale!" Ruby barked as she brought Whisper of the Worm out and started firing at their cores. Blake and Weiss started shooting, but Yang glanced at her little sister's new gun and paused.

"Uh, why does Crescent Rose look like that?" She asked.

"It's a new upgrade." Ruby told her. Weiss meanwhile seemed to feel left out as she used her glyphs to launch Blake into a Minotaur to kill it and collect the motes.

"I feel like I'm the only one without an upgrade…" She said before she remembered the data fragments she'd been finding all over the Hellas Basin. "Maybe that weapon my great Aunt Elsie was creating could be part of it." She wondered to herself as the girls deposited all their motes.

"You just dropped an Enthralled Ogre on your fellow Huntsmen! You're horrible people, ha ha! I love it!" Nomad laughed as their invasion portal opened. "Portal's up! Go say 'hello'!" He said.

"That's my cue!" Ruby grinned as she dashed into the portal.

"This is what the Enthralled feel! Revel in this!" Nomad exclaimed.

Ruby ran towards the four huntsmen as they tried to beat the Ogre that they dropped on them. Taking out Thorn, the Silver eyed girl lined up a shot and hit two of them three times in the chest, and then the other two in the head. Taking them out and prompting their drones to try and revive them. The previous two now had very little aura and what little they had was depleting.

"That's two!" Nomad said. "You got ten seconds left! Take out those huntsmen!" He prompted.

Smirking, Ruby brought out her scythe and blitzed forward and managed to take one more out but her time ran out before She could take out the fourth. That caused her to pout a little since she thought she was fast enough.

'Oh well. I've got more opportunities.' She shrugged as she went to help her team. However she soon felt Thorn get heavier with every kill she made, and as the aura it fed on seeped in, she felt like she had a pit bury itself deep in her stomach.

She hoped that this wouldn't come back to haunt her. This pattern continued until they summoned their primeval, and every time the invasion portal came up, Ruby invaded. Wracking up the twenty kills she needed to charge Thorn. But just like before, every successful invasion with the Weapon of Sorrow slowly made the pit in her stomach grow bigger and bigger. Wearing her down as she switched to using Crescent Rose to deal with the Primeval.

'I should've thought this through a bit more…' She thought, the pit weighing down on her. Propping herself up with her scythe, the huntress thought back to what Maria told her about how the silver eyes were used to purify darkness. Closing her eyes she tried to concentrate on keeping her will strong, and the pit in her stomach slowly started to fade, for now at least.

Sighing, she took out Thorn as Weiss and Yang froze the primeval in place with Stasis. "One down." She said as she unloaded the cylinder in head shots to the Enthralled Centurion, taking it out quickly… before falling to her knees. "Ngh… Fuck! What was-... Oh. The gun." She cursed before sighing. Nomad had said that sane people have gone nuts from firing Thorn twice.

"Are you okay, Ruby?" Yang asked, running up to her sister.

"Yeah… How are you able to handle your arm's upgrade? It's the same as Thorn, but you aren't feeling drained." The girl asked.

"It's probably because I have a stronger aura." Her sister said as Little Rose boosted her aura to help her feel better. "Come on, we're almost done."

(Later)

-Annex-

"Wooo! You girls were on fire out there today." Nomad said as he finished working on Thorn. "Here ya go sister. I made sure to put a suppression line in its frame to help ease that pull its got." He told Ruby as he handed the weapon back to her.

"Now if only I had something to counter the effect it had on me…" The silver eyed girl sighed.

"Wish I could help, but sadly, you're on your own." The ageless man shrugged.

"I'll figure something out." The girl shrugged. "We also got the armor from the Reckoning… That Emissary said that the nine want us to visit them? How do we do that?" She asked. Nomad was silent for a moment before shaking his head.

"Go into the haul." The man told them. "They'll be waiting for you there." He added with a sigh.

"Okay…" Yang said before the girls left the man alone.

(Elsewhere)

Team RWBY, JNPR, and ARSN all jumped into the vortex that connected the Haul to the Derelict, and seconds later in a flash of blue, they found themselves in a blue and black void, standing in water, yet they weren't wet. And the Emissary was in front of them.

"We stand at the precipice of history. What you do here will change the cosmic balance forever." The Emissary told them. "You have made allies of dangerous beings. Gods and god pretenders. How long before your company involves you in something you can't come back from?" She continued.

"What do you mean?" Yang asked.

"Your Enthrallen King and Maiden companions are good examples of this." The Emissary replied. "Those I serve have quite a bit to learn from you. You are all their greatest curiosity, the agents on which all fates converge."

'What?' The girls thought in confusion.

"What?" Teams ARSN and JNPR voiced aloud.

"The Dredgen presents a special prize to the Nine. He is an anomaly. An elemental balance. A grand experiment." The Emissary stated in reply. "We remember his trial." She added before they all experienced a vision.

(Flashback)

-Derelict, Deep Space-

On the Derelict, Nomad was playing cards with a man in a gas mask and a cloak. "It's about time someone taught you respect, Little man." The masked man said in a deep country bumpkin sounding voice.

"Ha! You mean someone like you?" Nomad laughed. "I know you all keep tabs on me." He added nonchalantly.

"Yeah. You been strayin'." The other man stated. "You don't even use his name no more." He added as he threw a card down.

Nomad scratched the side of his head as he reclined back in his seat. "Well, that's why I'm still breathin', brother." He replied. "Gambit's a chance at salvation." He added with conviction, throwing down a card. "Take it." He continued. The other man was still for a moment before abruptly standing from his seat and drawing a duplicate of Thorn, identifying him as a Shadow of Yor. Nomad raised his hands defensively.

"You were always so scared that Shin would get cha." The Shadow said. "Well, sorry old friend." He continued, pointing his gun at him. Nomad then pointed over his shoulder to his left hand before a mote of dark appeared inside it. He then pointed behind the man as the small pyramid disappeared.

"Behind you." The former dredgen said. Seconds later a large Enthralled Alpha Beowulf appeared and swatted the man over a railing. Nomad laughed as the Beowulf then turned its attention to him. "Whoa boy, easy now." He said nervously before it was blasted away. Moments later, the man got up from his chair as the Emissary appeared before him.

"Dredgen." She spoke.

"Nah, not anymore. It's Nomad now." The man replied.

"You have proven yourself worthy. Accept this gift from the Nine." The woman said, much to Nomad's confusion.

"A gift?" He inquired before his ship shook. "What gift?" He asked again with a suspicious look. Outside the ship, the Haul was now anchored securely to it.

(Flashback End)

Everyone shook their heads as the vision ended. "There are two others who have transcended their design. The first: an hourglass counting down with infinite patience. And the second: An old forgotten blade sharpened anew." The Emissary told them.

"Who do we know that fits both of those descriptions?" Blake wondered.

"Hourglass could fit me and Ozpin, but I'm not too sure." Wolfgang told her.

"That blade one could mean Sky." Sun noted.

"Or maybe Sienna's new assistant Moon, maybe?" Yang suggested.

"And now, there's the Dredgen." The Emissary continued. "Visit us again. We wish for you to understand what we understand. But only if you remain worthy." She concluded.

"Of course." Ruby said in a respectful tone.

(Later)

All the teams went back to their sleeping quarters at the Iron Temple, exhausted from the day that they had. Ruby in particular crashed on her bed in her pajamas right as Oscar and Penny came in to check on her.

"Is everything okay, Ruby?" Oscar asked as he sat next to her, Penny doing the same and bringing her best friend's head into her lap.

"Just had one long day." Ruby groaned. First I got an upgrade for Crescent Rose that turned it into something else, then I learned of how taxing using Thorn can be..."

"That's a Weapon of Sorrow though, are you sure that's a good idea?" The boy asked, concerned.

"We need everything we can get." The girl groaned. Oscar and Penny looked at each other before they stroked the girl's hair.

"Well, we're here if you need us." They told her.

(Elsewhere)

Meanwhile with Ren, Nora, Jaune and Pyrrha. The four were currently in the middle of feeling up their romantic partners in their quarters on the Atlas Academy campus. The stress made them feel oddly stimulated.

Pyrrha moaned as she felt Jaune squeeze her chest through her tightly fitting Pumpkin Pete crop top, his other hand rubbing her nether regions through the yoga pants she was wearing.

"Oh, I needed this…" The redhead moaned in pleasure as she grinded her hips against her boyfriend's hand.

Nora, meanwhile, was hotdogging Ren's member—which was still in his pants—between her yoga shorts clad ass cheeks.

"You like that, Ren?" She asked the boy whose lap she was riding.

"Oh yeah. That feels really good." The ninja sighed in content. The girl smirked as she got up and let him take off his pants before she shimmied out of her shorts, before she squeezed his dick between her cheeks again and kept grinding. "And now it's better." He groaned.

"I agree." The lightning ginger nodded with a smile as she wiggled her hips. "You wanna go inside me?" She asked.

"If you're willing." Ren replied. Nora smiled before she turned to face him and raised her hips above his member.

"We've waited long enough for this…" She declared before lowering herself onto her boyfriend's dick, both of them moaning in pleasure. Nora had torn her hymen years ago, so she had no pain waiting for her.

"Should we follow their lead?" Jaune asked Pyrrha as both took their shirts off and tossed them off to the side.

"Do you think so?" Pyrrha asked, kissing him.

"Oh yeah. We've earned it." The blond knight replied as he removed his girlfriend's Bra.

(Elsewhere)

Meanwhile on the Immortal Rage, the Eclipse Bee couple was currently sound asleep in their bed together. No hanky panky this time around because they were all exhausted from the day they just had. Sky was tired from babysitting the twins… Yeah, like we said. Tired.

Meanwhile with Autumn and Emerald they were reading the twins a bedtime story from the fairy tails of Remnant book. And in the Iron Temple, Wolfgang currently had Winter and Weiss on either side of him asleep. All three being naked as per usual.

However it was Foxxianna that raised eyebrows. The reason why, was because it looked like she was sleeping with Neptune.

It was a rather unusual sight, all things considered. The kyuubi faunus usually gave off the impression that she was a lesbian, so sleeping with Neptune was off-putting. This was a common misconception, she's actually bisexual who leans lesbian based on options.

But that's a story for another day. These guys had a party to go to tomorrow.

Dragon Emperor0: Well this just turned out pretty good. Amity's up and almost everyone on team RWBY has a dark upgrade. Except maybe Weiss, but we got something in mind for her.

ThermalsniperN7: And the gang had their first meeting with the Emissary of the Nine and learned a little something about Nomad's past. Though I don't know why they didn't question him having a space ship…

Dragon Emperor0: Probably because spaceships as a concept were already common, and the Immortal Rage is technically a spaceship anyway.

ThermalsniperN7: Eh. Fair enough, I guess. Also, Ruby now has the Whisper of the Worm integrated into Crescent Rose, and it is a beauty to behold… And now she's getting problems from Thorn… I wonder how she'll deal with that.

Dragon Emperor0: It'll probably force her to grow as a person, tougher, stronger willed I mean. Or at least become more of a strong paragon-esk figure, like Pyrrha is to a degree. Anyway guys, see you next time.
