The wedding is getting close, only a month away. Zoro and Sanji are both very excited about it. Of course they were a little nervous about it. This is marriage and neither have perfect examples of it, not as children, but now they have Franky and Robin as examples. Though it's a little late, they are still good examples. Even though they aren't perfect examples, they are perfect for each other. Just like how Sanji and Zoro are perfect for each other.
With the wedding only a month away they needed to discuss things, they needed to finalize the menu. Discuss the actual date of the wedding, with the date accepted and venue reserved for them they need to write and send the invitations. They all knew that is going to take a long time but they got help. Kaya and Law volunteered to help. It wasn't shocking that the sweet and wonderful Kaya wanted to help, she's known them for years. Kaya has known them longer than Robin has known them. Zoro has known Kaya longer than the blonde so it's nice to see her helping. Of course she she was going to join them in planning this wedding, it's a very big deal for the group. Zoro and Sanji are getting married to each other. It's nice to get Laws help but some, Nami and Sanji couldn't help but wonder why he's helping. His reasoning couldn't be so he could spent more time with Luffy since the monkey boy is playing with Megumi and Law is with the rest of the adults. Now the man wasn't formally invited but they all knew he's going to be there as luffy's plus one.
Another thing they needed to think about, though it might be late, is who is the best man and bridesmaid? There is a debate going on but even Sanji and Zoro don't know. At the rate they are going they might have to draw straws. But that is the last resort, if noone is chosen by the middle of April. Nami wants to be Zoro's bridesmaid, she's been open with what she wants, Robin has been silently wishing for it. Frank and Usopp have been competing on who wants to be Sanji's best man.
Sanji has noticed that Zoro's mood and decision making when it comes to the wedding has increased dramatically since when they started, he knew it had something to do with mama and the others. Zoro also talked about inviting Tisha and Honey, also some from the supermarket, he even included inviting Ruby and Mary. That included Ruby's whole family. They didn't want Megumi to be alone and bored. This is going to be a celebration so it should be fun.
"So this is going to be the venue?" Nami asks them to make sure this is the place they want to get married.
"Yes," Zoro answers, he and Sanji already decided on it. They both love the size, the bright white walls with the silver ascents. The white paired greatly with the flowers and the tablecloth, which matched the china they picked out. They chose white plates with matching flowers, with a tiger and fox. Of course only the couple knew what the plates looked like.
"Just making sure." Nami answers, looking down at her clip board with the checklist on it. She marks that down as done. "Alright and the date is May first right?"
"Yup, that was one of the only dates left opened." Sanji answers.
"What were the other ones?" Usopp asks on the other side of the table, all gathered at Robin and Franky's again because they have the space for so many people doing so many different things. Usopp was assigned to prove read everything making sure there weren't any mistakes.
Sanji looks over at Zoro to see if he would answer, but he didn't seem like he is going to. "There were some in the middle of May and the end."
"But those were really small openings." Zoro jumps in.
"Yeah, like we only had an hour for both the reception and ceremony. We didn't want a short and rushed wedding. If not in May then there were a lot of openings in September, November and December."
"Didn't want a winter wedding?" Frank asks.
"Nothing wrong with that, but we didn't want Megumi to be out too long in a dress in winter." Zoro adds, "plus she would have started a new year of school then. I would have liked for her to focus on that." They all nod. Can't argue with the parents if that their decision, not that they minded, they already knew that the wedding was close. They were already rushing to get things planned, so it didn't matter now.
"Sanji you talked to your friend about catering the wedding right?" Nami looks up from her clipboard to look at the chef.
"Yes, he agreed. Zeff also decided to help."
"But-" Nami starts frowning after hearing that. Sanji puts his hand up to stop her.
"I know but the grumpy old man insisted that he have part in the catering. I tried my best but couldn't win." Sanji tells her. They argued about it very loudly, ultimately Zeff won saying he could turn his own daughter against him. Sanji didn't believe him but he watched the man take his phone out and talk to Zoro, asking him to put Megumi on. He talked to her, about what he doesn't know as he couldn't hear but when he got home Megumi was mad at him and wouldn't talk to him or look at him. She ignored him the whole time, even Zoro had no idea what happened. He spent his time sending multiple calls and hundreds of text to the old man pleading to talk to Megumi, but that didn't work. It took Zoro , who strictly talked to him to end whatever it was. With that Zoro, on Sanji's behalf, made a deal with the old man. After that was settled Zoro took his phone and gave it to Megumi who talked to her grandpa, Zoro watched. When the call ended Megumi went back to talking to Sanji. It was like the old man brainwashed her. The next time he saw the old man, he had a smug grin and said his bond with Megumi is indestructible. He decided after that not to challenge the man, never again.
Zoro looked down as he felt his phone vibrate. He got his phone as Sanji explained to the others what happened between him and Zeff. On the screen it said Jackson, the private investigator. Zoro left the room to somewhere more private for the call. "Hello." Zoro answers more cheerfully, with a smile too.
His smile didn't last long when he heard the tone Jackson took. "What?" he says, his breath leaving him as he heard the news. He couldn't believe it, he didn't want to. "Thanks for telling me." Zoro says feeling a little numb. "I will. Until then. Bye." Zoro says ending the call. He dropped his hand to his side. With the call done he finally let his emotions go.
Sanji smiled as he walked closer to Zoro standing there. His smile fading as he heard Zoro sniffle and move his hand to his face. That call must have been bad so he rush to Zoro, reaching forward, hand on the other man's shoulder, spinning him around. The blonde's face frowns getting a look at Zoro's tears. "What happened?" the blonde asks his fiancé worried.
"Sensei passed away." Zoro says in between sobs.
"But I thought he was getting better?" Sanji questions, not able to believe it.
"I thought so too, I was going to bring Megumi over after school for her to finally meet him, He said he was looking forward to it." Zoro tells him. Sanji brings him into a hug, letting Zoro cry in his shoulder. Zoro held the blonde close as he cried. He needed that.
He was hoping sensei could come to the wedding, if not at least Zoro could tell him or show picture. Maybe Sanji could come with him to meet the man.
Guess that won't be happening.
