Carlisle has begun his memoirs in earnest. Poor, poor Esme. He has her in his office at all hours and keeps barking "Take this down!" before going into a long, rambling recount of some scene from his life, many of which seem to be of no consequence.

The entire family has quickly developed a Pavlovian reaction to the words "Take this down", causing Esme to quietly groan and slump dejected, abandoning whatever she was doing and dutifully joining Carlisle in his office. The rest of us scatter until the coast is clear, none of us wanting to get roped into dictation duties or to incur Esme's wrath.

The tension in the house is palpable to all but Carlisle who seems delighted with the whole venture.

Esme can only put up with this for so long, she will inevitably snap. Poor thing.

A/N: Please leave a review! Thanks so much to my wonderful beta wh1teow1, please show some love and read Moirai, a reimagining of Twilight for the new decade! What do you think of my Carlisle? He's a terrible bore I'm afraid, but kind underneath it all.
