Props: To KineticHeart, previously known as HedgehogWriter07, for reaching out and kicking this back off for the moment. I seriously cannot convey in words how awesome it is that after all this time, you've been thinking about this little dormant project. To be honest… it makes me feel really appreciated. Thank you to the millionth power for that.
Oh, also, this'll be going on for a little longer than I anticipated! Maybe… a month or so? You have Reaver17 to thank for the bountiful list of ships I'll be going off!
"GUYS!" shouted Sarah, who'd just busted through the door of the black box studio. "I… I-I'm SO SO SO sorry I haven't spoken to you guys in so long! Gosh, SO much has happened, and I… I… I missed you guys so much."
For a few seconds, Rachel and Elektor just sorta stared at her.
Rachel, holding her cell phone in anticipation of the deposit of her next paycheck, felt about ready to cry.
Elektor, holding his camera and switching its settings from Marriage Proposal Mode to Filming a Talk Show mode, considered pinching himself to confirm he was really seeing all this.
The same budget lights, the ones that had been used to film several of Rachel's high school projects and only one actual Thoughts of the Unknown episode, covered the three in their, well, budget light.
After a few seconds, Rachel was the one to respond.
"…Thank you so much," was the first thing she could think to say. "For keeping us in mind, you know?"
"Things have changed so, so drastically for all three of us," said Elektor with an equal amount of wonder in his voice. "Not even counting whatever the humans have been dealing with for the past year. But… right now… it feels like nothing's changed at all. We're just filming another episode."
"I get where you're coming from," said Rachel. "But… that almost makes it feel kinda different to me because… this, right now, feels like a relief. As if in this studio, we're safe from everything new and scary. All we really knew a year and a half ago was that we were friends making a talk show."
"Yeah, I can see that, too," Elektor agreed. "Regardless, though, Sarah… you've got nothing to apologize for. In fact, we have you to thank."
"Aww, don't mention it," Sarah blushed a bit. "I missed you guys a ton, too."
A beat went by. One long enough to make you wonder if maybe, the trio didn't want time to advance.
"Well," Elektor interjected, acknowledging that time would pass no matter what. "We have a surprise episode to film. Let's get to it."
"Coming to you live from my old high school, a year and a half later…" said Rachel, to the rolling camera. "Welcome back to Thoughts of the Unknown!"
She stood in front of two red armchairs, one looking essentially untouched, and the other looking the complete opposite. As if someone had ripped some huge gashes into it.
"Today, we're taking a look at Tangle and Jewel," she continued. "Based off preliminary research, it seems like these two are really close friends, and Jewel serves as the mild-mannered and pacifist contrast to Tangle's energy and adventurousness. Based off the fact alone that they're so close and get along so well, a romantic relationship could work seriously well. They also balance each other out quite well. I guess it would really come down to which ways they swing, and even if they did swing that way, if there was romantic chemistry between them. In short, there's potential. But let's get our star guest for the evening out here to give her take. She's the one we have to thank for this episode even happening… It's Sarah!"
Both Rachel and Elektor gave Sarah solid applause as she humbly came within the camera's view and took her seat on the more tattered of the two chairs. Rachel took the cleaner seat for herself.
"So we've run into a classic pair of best friends, huh?" asked Rachel. "Sarah, what do you think?"
"I've heard a bit about these two," Sarah replied. "Jewel being very timid, quiet, and peace-loving, while Tangle is more loud and, dare I say, reckless. Actually, I do think this ship would work wonderfully. Tangle could help Jewel to come out of her shell and be a bit more confident, while jewel could help Tangle to hold back just a little bit and not rush into every situation with fists flying. Though them being total opposites, it could also lead to fighting more often… at least argument-wise… I still think I'm in favor of this one being possible, in my book."
"So it seems like this ship could be a go!" Rachel concluded, standing up. "It wouldn't be anything out of a fairytale, but it's certainly possible!"
She centered herself in front of the camera.
"So… it's been a hot minute, yeah?" she asked. "And I'm excited to say that the fun isn't leaving as soon as it returned! Next time on the Tangled Saga, we pair our long-tailed adventurer with someone who just may be able to match her energy: Sticks! We discuss Tangle's chemistry with Sticks next time on Thoughts of the Unknown!"
Author's note: Fun fact, this is the first piece of work I've ever written on an iPad!
Also, the deadline for opinions (or your OC, their love interest if they have one, and their opinion on next week's ship if you haven't yet gotten in on the fun and would like to!) is midnight next Friday (in this case, midnight on Friday the 14th). This deadline helps make writing a little easier, as it can be done throughout the day. And yes, I'm going to try to stick to the Friday schedule!
