World 118: The Answer

Once again the Creator left them a choice: join him or return to the earth with no memories of the life that came before. This time there were only three to answer him. "Choose me." And this time one of them did. "I knew you would come around, Aurora." This time Crescent Aurora seemingly accepted all He had to offer. They had little left after all. Their cards were wiped away due to the ultimate World Legacy monster: World Gears Demiurgy(6500/LINK 3) [Extra Zone 1]. Due to the continuous trap of World Legacy Collapse it would also continuously gain more strength with each turn, by banishing either World Legacy monsters from the graveyard or on the field like the World Ark(7/2500/500) [Zone 1]. She still controlled her own Mekk Knight Spectrum Supreme(3000/LINK 3) [Extra Zone 2], which would at least intercept one attack. "No. I am not joining you, Creator. I am telling you to focus your anger on me." The choice was really only between Dharma and Charles. And she did not want to see either of them lose each other. "Leave them, and defeat me. They can help you more than I would ever want to."

"Crescent no!" Charles and Dharm were left shocked by Aurora's proposal of the godly duelist. They knew why she did it, because the two of them as a team could do more damage than she by herself. "Ho. So that is your choice. It saddens me to hear it.. I would have liked to keep you." The Creator knew it too, yet he would be bound His own word. "But if I cannot, then the rest matter little to me as well." A binding he easily broke. "I attack you, Charles Adami!" The World Legacy Ark and World Gears Demiurgy discharged their energy through a tempest of waves.. and the waves surrounded the cyberse duelist and the last cyberse monster. "What!"' Spectrum Supreme died in a matter of seconds.. But Charles would not. "A delayed skill?" Due a skill activating at the last second to soften the impact of the Legacy Ark, a kill the Creator had never seen before.

The Dragon Flying Once More, Skill Card
Select 1 dragon-monster in the Graveyard with the same Attribute as a monster on your field, add it to your hand.

"So a god can lie as well huh?" Dharma glared at the Creator. Before the attack connected she activated her skill to add the Fairy Dragon Mahaama back to her hand. "It's a good thing I kept this secret from you though. Isn't it? Plus Mahaama can respond to damage done to any player. Not just me. And it can heal the damage as well!" While it felt tempting to reflect the battle damage back to Him, she knew he would just heal it with his annoying throne again. Instead her Fairy Dragon(5/0/2500) [Zone 1] gave Dharma the same amount of damage back to her. "Sorry that I could not give the lifepoints to you tho. But I didn't want what happened to Hydra happen to anyone else." Dharma sighed. At least Mahaama's defense would hold the World Ark back as well. "I am just glad that you did not have pay for my naivety, miss Blanche."

"Echo has the power to grant wishes, but she will only grant you that one. My miracles would have lasted you an eternity!" The Creator moved to the second main phase and banished the World Legacy World Chalice again to add one World Legacy card (World Legacy Bestowal) from the deck to his hand. Then he ended his turn, upon which everything returned to Charles.

-TURN 09-

"If that is true, than it would not have mattered which one of us you attacked. Yet you chose me.." Charles drew his next card. With four cards in his hand, he could cause a lot of trouble for his opponent and he would have wanted to prevent that. "Are you suggesting I fear you, Charles? You expended half of your extra deck for your extra link strategy. How can you possibly top that?" The Creator laughed to pretend like none of it mattered. "Maybe I can still surprise you, Creator. When I started this duel I knew I might not get a second turn, let alone a third. But I had faith in my friends that they could pull us all through. And I still have one sequence ready to go. The pieces to start it are already here."

"Widget Kid special summons one Cyberse from my hand!" It all began innocently enough, with the normal summoned space trooper kid(3/1500/900) [Zone 3] and his lasergun. One zap to the field then created another cyberse: the special summoned Garbage Collector(2/100/1900) [Zone 4]. "Garbage Collector returns a cyberse to my hand and special summons another cyberse with the same level from my deck!" Widget Kid dove into the junk bot's bin, which then got semi-recycled into the cyber-beast Flame Bufferlo(3/1400/200) [Zone 3]. "And I link summon Cyberse Witch!" Now that he found his two cyberse link materials, he could begin to allude to his great master plan. The Cyberse Witch(800/LINK 2) {Downleft/Down} [Extra Zone 2] supported his ritual monsters after all. In addition he could now discard Widget Kid to draw two new cards: a result of using Flame Bufferlo as a link material. "And when I link summon a monster, I can special summon Parallel Exceed from my hand! And when I summon a monster to the Witch's linked zone, I can banish a spell from the graveyard to add a ritual spell and a ritual monster from the deck to my hand!"

"I can see the future you are trying to craft right now, Charles Adami. But when a monster is summoned from the extra deck, the Demiurgy special summons one World Legacy monster from my deck!" The Creator announced and the World Legacy World Crown appeared on his field(6/500/2500) [Zone 2] in defense mode. "When a monster summoned from the extra deck activates its effect, the Crown will negate it!" At the same time as a black and white armored dragonlike cyberse(8/2000/2000) [Zone 3] popped down on Charles' field, his Parallel Exceed. But due to the effect of the Crown, he could not use that to trigger the Witch' own effect right away. "Hmph.. Still, when Parallel Exceed is summoned, I can summon another Parallel Exceed from my deck. But each Parallel Exceed summoned by one of its own effects loses half his levels and stats." The Exceed cyberse literally split itself in half: shrinking down to summon a smaller duplicate version(4/1000/1000) [Zone 4] of itself(4/1000/1000).

"I am amazed you managed to say Parallel that many times in a row. Is that a new cyberse?" Dharma snickered. "It's one of my own design yeah. I created it to help my XYZ-summons. But right now, I will have to give it a more direct function.. as a sacrifice!" Charles revealed a spell card. "I activate Cynet Crosswipe! I can tribute one cyberse to destroy one card my opponent controls!" The spell converted one Parallel Exceed into a flat 2dimensional barrier which swept through the World Crown and deleted it on the spot. "Now when I control a cyberse, which I clearly do, I can special summon Backup Secretary from my hand! And I can also return one monster linked with my link monster to special summon Backup Operator! I will use her to trigger the Cyberse Witch instead!" The two visored support ladies of the cybernet swooped in, the short and violet-haired Backup Secretary(3/1200/800) [Zone 5] and the long magenta-haired Backup Operator(3/1200/800) [Zone 4]. The latter forced Parallel Exceed back into the hand and assisted the Cyberse Witch. She banished the Cynet Backdoor spell and, produced the ritual card pair: Cynet Ritual and... "Ritual summon! Paladin of the Storm Dragon!" .. the golden knight riding his cybernetic white stormdragon(4/1900/900) [Zone 2]. The Cynet Ritual spell sacrificed the Parallel Exceed in his hand to special summon the ritual monster.

"So you avoided my first trap. Well played, mister Adami." The Creator clapped slowly. "You have not seen anything yet! After Cyberse Witch uses her first effect, she can also special summon one cyberse from my graveyard!" The witch's glowing wand turned towards the ground and recreated the Micro Coder(1/0/0) [Zone 5]. "Storm Dragon sacrifices itself and special summons another highlevel cyberse from my deck! I choose Code Exporter!" The light cyberdragon and rider flew off into the great beyond, leaving behind a trail of stardust which allowed a different dragon-like cyberse to fly down: the mechanical green-winged Exporter(5/500/2300) [Zone 2]. "Then I will use my Backups to XYZ-summon Cyberse Reminder!" The Secretary and Operator possessed the proper level, so they could attach themselves to the cyberse card with the black border. The pile-driving robot Cyberse Reminder(R3/1800/900) [Zone 4]. "Cyberse Reminder? Not Firewall Exceed Dragon?" The Creator for once betrayed a hint of surprise. The Parallel Exceed summons led him to anticipate an entirely different XYZ-monster before, but that expectation clearly did not match reality.

"No. I did not even prepare that one, Creator. But you know what this one can do too, right? Add one Cynet spell back to my hand!" Charles detached Flame Bufferlo from the Reminder and reclaimed the continuous Cynet Codec spell. "I activate Cynet Codec again and link summon! Code Talker!" The next two link materials, which had to be cyberse, were the Micro Coder and the Code Exporter. The summon of the base Code Talker knight(1800/LINK 2) {Up/Down} [Zone 5] triggered three effects in a row; the dematerialized Code Exporter added Latency from the graveyard to the hand again, Micro Coder added a lowlevel cyberse (Cyberse Converter) from the deck to the hand, while Cynet Codec added another cyberse (Cyberse Synchron) from the deck to the hand with the same DARK attribute as Code Talker. Adding the Latency cyberse also let Charles special summon that hourglass robot(1/0/0) [Zone 3] back to his field. "The Synchron? A tuner? I never really noticed how many cards you made for yourself." Crescent exclaimed.

"And I made fusions too, Crescent. I link summon Proxy F Magician!" Charles used two effects monsters as the next pair of link materials; Cyberse Witch and Latency. This created a fiery cybermage(1400/LINK 2) {Downleft/Downright} [Extra Zone 2] in crimson armor, helmet and cape. Using Latency as a link material would also draw him another card. "Proxy F Magician can start up one fusion between two of my monsters! And when a monster is fusion summoned to her link marker, she also special summons one monster from my hand! So I fusion summon Diplexer Chimera!" Since Cyberse Quantum Dragon demanded a specific material, Charles did not add it to his extra deck either. Instead Proxy F Magician crafted the winged cyberbeast(5/2000/800) [Zone 3] with Code Talker and Cyberse Reminder as the fusion materials. "And I will special summon Cyberse Synchron and Cyberse Converter! So I can synchro summon Cyberse Integrator, who returns one cyberse tuner to the field!" Via the Proxy F route, Cyberse Synchron(1/100/100) [Zone 5] arrived on the field, and since all of his monsters were cyberse, the twin cannon drone Cyberse Converter(2/1000/1000) [Zone 4] could also special summon itself. It and and the tuner synchronized into one bigger and more armed drone carrier: the Cyberse Integrator(3/1000/1000) [Zone 5]. "Integrator special summons its tuner back to the field!" The claws reached into the grave and snagged the Cyberse Synchron [Zone 1] as it were a simple toy.

"Almost there.." Two cards still waited in the extra deck. "I link summon Decode Talker Heatsoul!" One who would give him even more cards to play around with. The materials were two or more cyberse with different attributes: the FIRE based Proxy F Magician and the LIGHT based Cyberse Integrator. Creating his own Fiery Code Talker would let him add one FIRE monster from the deck to his hand: the Degrade Buster. Sending Integrator to the graveyard would also let him draw one card again. "I banish one monster to special summon Degrade Buster! And each turn this card can banish one monster if it is stronger than him!" Of course he aimed the Buster(7/2500/2500)[Zone 5]'s grenades at the World Gears monster. "Ha. You have finally pushed me to the brink, Charles Adami! Now you will witness the final power! I activate the Throne's Armor!"

Throne of the World: Armor Form, Skill Card
Target 1 Link summoned monster you control. It gains the following effect:
If this card would be removed from the field by an opponent's card (as a result of battle or card effect), you can banish that card instead.
You can use this card a number of times equal to the targeted link monster's link rating.

"So you had that kind of power in store all along, didn't you? I could have guessed." The Degrader busted itself instead, destroyed by the grenade being reflected back towards it by the throne suddenly turning into a spiked barrier around Demiurgy and The Creator. "But you played right into my hand, Creator! Heatsoul takes a thousand of my lifepoints and draws one card as well!" Charles managed to draw a spell, which would keep him going for a little longer.

Charles' LP: 300

"I activate Link Back! I will move Heatsoul to a zone he points too, and send a number of cards from my deck to the graveyard that equals his link rating!" With the three markers of the burning Code Knight[Zone 3], Charles could send three of his cards (Cross Debug, Rebuildeer, Spool Code). "You know what comes next. A link that goed beyond your own. Crescent, you have made this step as well.. But this is my own card now, this is Firewall Dragon Darkfluid!" Heatsoul, Diplexer Chimera and Cyberse Synchron opened up a link circuit greater than any that came before and link summoned the last card in the extra deck. "Firewall?" Dharma marveled at the new form of Charles' iconic cyberse: the black and white cyberdragon Darkfluid(3000/LINK 5) {Left/Downleft/Up/Right/Downright} [Extra Zone 2]. "Firewall gains one counter for each extra deck type in my graveyard! And he gains twenty-five hundred attackpoints for each of those counters!" The spirits of Storm Paladin, Cyberse Reminder, Cyberse Integrator and Diplexer Chimera all entered the Firewall Dragon through the ring on its back and lit up its(13000 atk) five hollow diamond-shaped wings. "Firewall! Attack World Legacy World Ark!"

"Ho! The card that vanquished Mister Static. Certainly your greatest ace in the hole! But my creations surpass yours! I reactivate World Legacy Collapse!" The Creator turned his own World Ark into a power source for the greater Legacy, banishing the monster on the field to add its 2500 attackpoints to the Theurlogical World Gears(9000 atk). "Then I will attack it instead, Creator!" DarkFluid finished charging its energy blast and released it as a wave of green energy. "You cannot attack Demiurgy!" The Creator retaliated with his Armor Throne again, using the second of three markers to negate Darkfluid's strike and destroy it instead. "I can and I will, again and again! Firewall Darkfluid negates one monsters effect, even during the damage step, by using up one of its counters!" Charles forced his link monster(10500 atk) to withstand the spikes of the throne armor. "I have seen that skill too many times now! Your story is getting old!"

Creator's LP: 4000

"Now, if Darkfluid negates an affect between its attack declaration and the end of that attack, he can make another attack!" Firewall Dragon Darkfluid gained its second wind, though its now divinely white energy blast would have less of an impact. "You will lead yourself to your own downfall, Charles Adami! You are choosing death itself by denying me!" The Creator activated the effect of the Throne one last time, cancelling his Demiurgy's destruction while still taking the battle damage. Firewall Dragon Darkfluid(8000 atk) in turn negated that effect with the use of its second counter. "My throne may be spent, but so is your monster!" The Theurlogical Gears now possessed the most attackpower.

Creator's LP: 2500

"Except it is not, Creator!" Charles declared a third attack anyway, and the Darkfluid dragon unleashed a bright stream of blue light. "Because I can banish Cross Debug from my graveyard when my link monster attacks an opponents link monster! Cross Debug then adds the attackpoints of one other link monster in my graveyard and gives them to my attacker!" He would cross the power of the Heatsoul Decode Talker with the Firewall Dragon(10300 atk), mixing their elements into one bigger blast of red and blue. This attack finally did what the previous could not: reach the Theurlogical World Gears and dismantle them. "You dare. You dare to break my ultimate legacy, with a card whose legacy only speaks to a handful of souls! Who are you, who do you think you are? You are the not the one who is going to end me!" The Creator took it well.

Creator's LP: 1200

"This is not your story anymore, Creator. You cannot expect us to just play by your script!" Charles placed two trap cards down on his field and ended the turn. The attackpoints of Firewall(8000 atk) reverted back to normal, as normal as they could be at least.

-TURN 10-

"You are wrong! Wrong! This IS my story! I am the writer and what I say goes! This is the part where you will fall, one by one!" The Creator immediately transformed his Throne again to form the Lance, hoping to take control of Firewall Dragon Darkfluid. "Not this time, Creator!" Charles responded with the Cynet Refresh trap card in his graveyard, which he banished to make his link monster effect-immune for the rest of the turn. "I have seen that skill too many times now! Your story is getting old!" He said with a deliberate tone of mockery. "I activate World Legacy Bestowal! I banish seven World Legacy cards from my graveyard and add one cyberse monster from the deck to my hand!" The Creator activated his trap card by banishing the World Key, Shield, Crown and Armor monsters along with the Monstrosity, Key and Trap Globe spell/trap cards. And he added a monster called 'Avida'. "You do not know what you are saying, Charles Adami! You are nothing!"

"I've heard that from others too, Creator . Even your taunts are not original." Charles did not know why he would try to use a monster effect now when Firewall could still negate two more effects. He discovered the reason when the Creator actually summoned his monster. "When there are eight or more link monsters on the field and in the graveyard, Avida the Rebuilder of Worlds can be special summoned. Then it returns all monsters to the deck, alive or dead! This is the newly-born god! The heroes, with a power surpassing all human understanding obtained after countless merciless battles, hoped to restore the world to the way it was before the wars started. But god could also choose to destroy that world for their folly and sins! And that will be my choice now!" Avida: a white/gold Mekk Knight(11/3500/3500) [Zone 3] wrapped up spiked weaponry and blue flames, unleashed a restoration program on the entire field, graveyard and banished zone; shuffling all monsters into the extra deck. "!?" Charles could not stop it, not even with Firewall Dragon Darkfluid. The effect of Avida prevented any other cards from chaining to it. "You could have made the world a better place, now you will all be forgotten! Avida, direct attack!"

"You should have rebooted my spells too, Creator! I activate Scapegoat!" Charles would take a certain level of satisfaction from knowing that he'd managed to thwart the allmighty with the simplest trick. "The goats!?" Four goat tokens(1/0/0) [Zones 1,2,3 & 4] were created by his quickplay spell and summoned to the field in defense mode. Avida could only kill one, and the Creator could not summon any other monsters during the turn in which Avida appeared. "We're at the brink of a new existence. Why do you cling to your old world so much?" He could only proceed with the inconceivable. He had to pass his turn. One trap card appeared behind Avida, and His silence took over.

-TURN 11-

"Because all my old stuff is there. And my friends. That's the only reason I need, no matter how simple you may think it is!" Dharma already know how to make the tokens useful. She could use them as normal monster link materials for her Defender of the Labyrinth(1400/LINK 2) {Downleft/Downright} [Extra Zone 1], who strengthened normal monsters and weakened effect monsters. "I could not have said it better myself! I activate Cynet Regression!" Since she'd managed to link summon a monster, Charles' Cynet trap would destroy one card on the field and draw a new card for her.

"A lowly trap dares to touch the mighty Rebuilder of Worlds! Unacceptable!" The Creator was too stunned to even speak. But not too stunned to activate his quickplay spell, World Legacy Clash. It banished Avida for one turn, while the Defender(0 atk) lost attackpoints equal to Avida's attackpower. "Geez. I know you like your stories, but we all have our own favorite stories that we do not want to forget either. Like the story of the dragons who became knights! I activate Legend of Heart! I sacrifice one warrior monster and pay two thousand lifepoints to special summon the Legendary Knight forms of the Atlantian Dragons!" The Defender would be the warrior, the Fang of Critias would be the dragon in the graveyard... and so would the Claw of Hermos be. "Hermos? Since when did you use that card?" Charles gasped. "I didn't. Hydra did. The Claw of Hermos was the card he set." Dharma revealed. Demiurgy destroyed the Legendary Dragon spell two turns ago, but now Legend of Heart banished it all the same to transform the great-clawed red dragon into a blonde knight(8/2800/1800) [Zone 4] in brilliant red armor. The Critias spell became his own knight: a dark haired swordsman(8/2800/1800) [Zone 3] in bright blue armor

Dharma's LP: 3500

"And before you ask, boss. Yes this was a whole thing in the championships too. My mom tried to rebrand me as Vitruvic's big rival, since he held the Eye of Timaeus card. Pity I never got near him though. But Hydra was nice enough to prepare me his card. When these knights appear, they banish two face-up spell or trap cards!" Critias and Hermos crossed blades and shot a bolt of holy lightning into the air. The thunder came back down to shatter the continuous World Legacy Collapse trap card. "Now! Critias, Hermos! Get him!" Two direct attacks were in order. "Raaagh! You cannot end my legacy with a hollow legend like that! My story is the only one that will endure!" Of course hid behind his Throne again, activating the Chalice form to raise his lifepoints to 8000 before the two knights dropped him down by 5600 points. "Hey your story sounds pretty neat too. But do you even remember why it started? You made everyone forget about you, even the people that knew you. Right? So Ib, Auram and the like.. the real people they used to be wont be there to appreciate your story either. And you did not even give them a chance to be." Dharma placed a trap card down and ended her turn.

Creator's LP: 2400

-TURN 12-

"They are not worthy of being remembered. They betrayed me. None of them stood besides me in the end. I started my story when we were all friends, now that story is over! Their world is over!" Avida[Zone 3] returned to the field as soon as his turn started. "Let it all disappear!" He activated the effect of the Throne in its Wand form to make it immune to other monster card effects. "Avida!" Once more his god unleashed a helix of blue flames, and sought to extinguish the life of the Legendary Knight Hermos. "You're really running out of steam, pal! Or maybe you dont even care about other legends, since you seem to have forgotten what Hermos can do! When he's attacked, he activates the effect of a monster in my graveyard!" Dharma moved her hand towards the cards on her field. "What monsters!? Avida erased them all! There is no legacy for you to utilize!" The Creator continued his attack regardless. "You know what, you're right. I was just showing off. I took attention away from the real legend in my deck.. from my Mirror Force!" Dharma revealed her trap card..

"! NO!" The Mirror Force caught the Rebuilder in its trap, reflecting the gods attack and letting It burn in Its own blue flames. "Guess your god died to a lowly trap after all. If you want you can pretend Critias activated it, since he can set traps when he's attacked." Dharma laughed out loud. The very first trap known to dueling kind, not even the Creator managed to avoid it. "You were not supposed to be this strong. You were supposed to collapse.." The Creator looked at his hand, and his deck. He was nearly out of cards now, these 'children' managed to last longer than he could have foreseen. "But I am eternal. You are not. Whatever element you throw at me, my shield will block it. Whatever damage you do to me, my chalice will heal it. I have the power of the seven legacies!"

-TURN 13-

"You should know your limits, mister Creator. We all have them." Crescent drew a new card and summoned it, the Mekk Knight Avram(4/2000/0) [Zone 5]. "Him again!? What can he possible do now?" The Creator protested. "More than he wants to. More than you want too. Avram is you, isn't it? You wanted to become one with god, just like he did. You wanted to be the hero of the world. But you are not that hero, not like this. A hero does not act for his own glory." Crescent summarily removed Avram from the field, along with the Legendary Knight Hermos. "!?" Two effects monsters of the LIGHT, they would become the Charmer of the Light, Lyna(1850/LINK 2) {Downleft/Downright} [Extra Zone 2]. "You! I did not give you that card!" The Creator cried out. "I never said I would only use your cards. I did not lie." Lyna could special summon one LIGHT monster from His graveyard: the almighty Avida deity(11/3500/3500) [Zone 5]. It truly felt amazing to behold, but she would not let its brilliance delay her. "Gah. And then what? You still do not have anything on your field besides Light monsters!"

"But I do.."Crescent turned to the one monster with a different attribute: the EARTH-type Scapegoat token. "I link summon Aussa, the Earth Charmer Aloft. Her materials are two effect monsters, one of which has to be an earth monster." Lyna and the token would be the link materials for the third of her five elemental charmers: the shorthaired and bespectacled Aussa(1850/LINK 2) {Downleft/Downright} [Extra Zone 2] in her green sweater and brown cloak. "This is the end, Creator." Crescent wasted no more time, she could not. Aussa flew into battle and released a spell of rocks down upon the defenseless Creator. "Rgh! No. No end! I say when it ends!" He activated his Chalice to raise his lifepoints back to 8000, just before Aussa weakened him again.

The Creator's LP: 6150

"But this is the end." The Legendary Knight Critias swung his blade in his face and tore off one piece of his throne. "No!"

The Creator's LP: 3350

"No! This has to keep going! I have so much more to say! So many more battles! So many more worlds! This cannot be where it stops! This cannot.." The final attack would come from his own divine creation: Avida released the flames of blue judgment.. and burned the lord on his throne.
