Pokemon: Friends to the End
Chapter 130: Gateway to Ruin!
In a Forest...
Ash and his friends encounter a section of Mt. Coronet that was a muggy marshland.
"Man, does it feel super muggy here."Ash commented.
"Pika."Pikachu said.
"This is no ordinary forest."Brock admitted. "It's also a marshland."
"Do you hear that?"Dawn asked.
The heroes come across a river with a strong current as well as blue Shellos.
"It's a river."Ash replied.
"Whoa, look at those Shellos."Denise complemented.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"But aren't Shellos supposed to be pink like Zoey's Shellos?"Dawn asked.
"Let me see."Denise insisted.
Denise took out her Pokédex to scan the East Sea Shellos.
"Shellos the Sea Slug Pokemon."Denise's Pokédex buzzed. "A mysterious purple fluid oozes out of its soft body when Shellos is strongly squeezed. Two kinds of Shellos, pink and blue, have been confirmed."
"So those Shellos are the other kind."Ash suggested.
"Pika pika!"Pikachu warned.
The heroes see a pink Shellos trapped in the river's current.
"Look at that pink Shellos!"Dawn gasped in shock.
"It's going to get washed away!"Ash complemented.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup chirped.
Prinplup jumped into the river try to rescue Shellos, catching it just before the current takes it away.
Denise notice a long tree branch causing her to get an idea.
"Quick!"Denise insisted. "Let's use this branch to pull both to safety."
"One, two, three!"Brock counted.
The group used the long tree branch to pull both Shellos and Prinplup to the shore safely.
Brock gently placed Shellos on the floor.
"There you go."Brock said.
"Now Shellos are you okay?"Dawn asked.
"Shellos."Shellos answered and smiled at Prinplup. "Shell shellos."
"Prinplup."Prinplup answered proudly.
Nurse Joy arrived, relieved to see Shellos safe and thanks the group for saving it.
"Thank goodness."Nurse Joy remarked. "You've all saved Shellos, right?"
"Right."Ash, Dawn and Denise answered in unison.
Brock began his usual flirting with Nurse Joy.
"Who would've thought I see the beautiful Nurse Joy out here."Brock flirted. "Look into my eyes. I am overwhelmed with tears of joy as well as the marshland in this area."
Brock got interrupted by Croagunk's Poison Jab causing the breeder to quiver in pain.
"No...this doesn't help either."Brock groaned.
Brock collapsed on the ground and Croagunk dragged him away.
Ash and Dawn chuckled nervously while Denise simply shook her head.
"Sorry about that, Nurse Joy."Denise apologised. "Brock has a 'thing' for girls."
"Really?"Nurse Joy giggled and then bent down to look at Shellos. "Well now, this is strange."
"Strange, what do you mean?"Ash asked.
"You see, pink and blue Shellos live on oppositesides of Mt. Coronet, so you never see them together."Nurse Joy explained. "But since we're on the eastern side of the mountain, there should only be blueShellos here. An unusual situation to be sure."
"But how come Shellos are different colours on either side of the mountain?"Denise asked.
"Well you see, long ago the Shellos got separated around the same time Mt. Coronet was beginning to form. It's said they evolved to their current shape and colour to adapt to their new environment."Nurse Joy exclaimed. "But lately there've been a lot of pinkShellos that have gotten lost on thisside of the mountain."
"Gotten lost?"Dawn said.
"Do you have any idea why?"Brock questioned.
"Oh, if I only knew."Nurse Joy sighed as she stroked the back of the pink Shellos. "So for now, let's just take it back to the Pokemon Center."
At the Pokemon Center...
Nurse Joy checked Shellos and saw it had no injures.
"Here you go."Nurse Joy said with a smile. "Shellos wasn't hurt a bit."
"Shellos, we're glad that your okay."Dawn commented kindly.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Shell shellos."Shellos giggled sweetly.
"Nurse Joy, we'll take Shellos back to its buddies on the Western Side of the Mountain."Ash insisted.
"That would be wonderland."Nurse Joy remarked with a grateful smile. "I'm certain you'll find them easily. Just head to the marshlands there."
"You can count on us."Brock assured.
"Then let's get going."Denise chuckled.
Torchic smiled. "Torchic."
"Well well...another lost Shellos I see."
The four heroes turned around after hearing the familiar voice.
"Whoa, Mr Looker."Ash said in surprise.
"Hello, nice to see you again."Looker responded.
"Oh my, do you know each other?"Nurse Joy asked.
"Sure do!"Brock, Dawn, Denise and Ash answered in unison.
"Yes, well."Looker agreed quickly. "I'm in a hurry! So I'll see you later!"
Looker rushed out of the Pokemon Center causing the group to become confused.
"That was weird."Denise stated with a hint of suspicion.
"So why don't we get on our way too?"Brock suggested.
"Okay."Ash, Dawn and Denise responded together.
Prinplup looked at Shellos.
"Prinplup prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Shellos shellos."Shellos said with a happy expression.
Outside...
Prinplup was leading his companions the way back to Shellos' home while holding the little pink pokemon on his head.
"Prinplup is sure in a good mood."Dawn complemented.
"It's because Prinplup and Shellos have really hit it off."Ash replied.
"Pika."Pikachu said.
"Another beautiful friendship."Denise remarked.
"Tor torchic."Torchic tweeted.
Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise notice several caves around the area.
"Look at all these holes in the mountain."Brock said, "I wonder if they're all caves."
"If they are, there sure are a lot of 'em."
The heroes notice Prinplup and Shellos were both peering into a hole in the mountain.
"Careful Prinplup, it could be dangerous!"Dawn warned.
"Prinplup."Prinplup assured.
Prinplup and Shellos peek into one and despite Dawn's warning causing both of them to fall down into it.
The heroes gasped and ran to where the two pokemom fell into.
"Prinplup!"Dawn shouted.
"Shellos!"Ash called out.
"Guys, don't-"Denise started.
Suddenly the ground gave way causing Ash, Dawn and Brock to fall down the deep pit.
Denise and Torchic closed their eyes when they heard their companions land with a thud before carefully looking down.
"Is everyone alright?"Ash asked.
"Pikachu."Pikachu answered.
Brock looked at Prinplup and Shellos.
"Prinplup, Shellos, were either of you hurt?"Brock asked.
"Prinplup."Prinplup answered and shook his head.
"Shellos."Shellos responded.
"Guys!"Denise called out worriedly from above. "Are all of you okay?!"
"Yeah!"Ash shouted. "We're fine, Denise!"
"But I don't think we can climb ourselves out of this!"Dawn admitted.
Denise noticed there was another hole in the mountain nearby.
"There's another entrance up here!"Denise stated. "I'll go in and meet up with all of you!"
"Got it!"Ash answered with a smile.
"Just be carful, Denise!"Dawn added.
Denise nodded before she looked at Torchic.
"Let's go, Torchic."Denise instructed.
Torchic nodded. "Torchic."
Denise and Torchic began walking to the second hole ahead that had a slide down path.
Torchic jumped into Denise's arms as her trainer took a deep breath.
"Here's goes nothing."Denise mumbled.
Denise carefully slid down into the cave from the second hole and saw it was a bit dark inside.
"Torchic."Torchic whimpered nervously.
"Yes, Torchic."Denise agreed. "It is spooky. But we have to walk through here to join up with the others."
Denise began walking in the cave with Torchic safely in her arms.
As the duo continued exploring, Denise and Torchic notice something shiny attached in one of the walls of the cave.
"What's that?"Denise asked.
Denise walked forward to pick the object with her free hand and saw it was a elliptical-shaped stone that was grey in appearance, but looked somewhat like a moon rock.
"Whoa!"Denise said in awe. "It's a Moon Stone!"
Meanwhile...
Shellos was leading the way as Ash, Dawn and Brock spotted footprints and light up ahead.
"It's light out there!"Ash exclaimed.
"I bet that must be the exit!"Dawn remarked.
The heroes head into the entrance, only to find Team Galactic.
"Whose there?!"Charon demanded.
"Team Galactic!"Ash gasped.
"Pika!"Pikachu growled angrily.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup snapped.
Saturn becomes annoyed at the children getting in their way yet again.
"Well, of all the people to wonder in here off the street."Saturn scoffed. "It had to be you trouble makers."
Without any warning, Ash, Dawn and Brock were surrounded by Galactic Grunts with grey staffs in their hands.
Then Team Galactic tied the group up, so that they don't get in their way until their mission was complete.
"Until we finished our mission you sit quietly and stay out of our way."Saturn ordered.
"Ah, the famous children."Charon sneered.
"Ignore them and get back to work now."Saturn ordered.
"Fine, fine."Charon said simply and walked away.
Saturn noticed that Denise wasn't with the group.
"Where's the other one?"Saturn questioned.
"What other one?"Dawn asked with a frown.
"That second girl who's also your twin."Saturn replied. "Where is she?"
"Hate to tell you, but we don't know!"Ash snapped.
"And besides, we'd never tell you anyway!"Brock added.
Saturn simply smirked and closed his eyes.
"It doesn't matter."Saturn responded. "Sooner or later, she'll wonder in here as well."
Meanwhile...
Denise and Torchic continued their walk to find their other companions.
"It feels like there is no end to this tunnel, Torchic."Denise said. "I just hope we are not lost."
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
The trainer and her fire type pokemon then notice a image design on the creation trio and ancient writing on it.
The image was a shadow pokemon looking down at Earth menacingly with Arceus, Dialga and Palkia facing it.
Denise brought her attention on the ancient writing near the image.
"During the beginning of the world, the creator of the entire Pokemon world, Arceus created two powerful Pokemon to help make the planet perfect."Denise read as she read the ancient writing. "Two of them, Dialga and Palkia, represented space and time while the third member of this trio, Giratina, represented antimatter. However, when the planet was finished being created, Giratina's violent nature of trying to destroy all of human and Pokemon kind forced Arceus to banish it to a world far away from our own, the Distortion World. Since then, Giratina's name has been long forgotten by most, but not all. Those who still remember the Distortion World's ruler fear that one day it will return and bring darkness and chaos to out entire planet."
Denise lower down her voice a little as she read the last parts of the ancient writing.
"The legend of Giratina has been all but forgotten but to a few...the legend told of a world on the other side of ours. This world."Denise said. "Why does this world exist? Why is Giratina here all alone?"
Denise was completely silent after reading the ancient writing.
Torchic looked at his trainer.
"Torchic?"Torchic asked.
Denise snapped out of her state and looked at her Fire type.
"I'm fine, Torchic."Denise assured before frowning slightly. "It's just...that Pokemon...Giratina."
Denise saw a light coming from a nearby tunnel and assumed it was an exit.
"There's a light!"Denise said with a smile. "I think we just found a way out!"
"Torchic!"Torchic tweeted happily.
Denise and Torchic ran over to the light and shielded their eyes a bit when they reached it.
When she opened their eyes, Denise saw Ash, Dawn, Brock, Pikachu, Prinplup and Shellos tied up and imprisoned by Team Galactic.
"Ash!"Denise exclaimed in shock. "Dawn! Brock!"
Her friends and Team Galactic heard Denise and looked at her.
"Denise!"Ash remarked.
"Pika!"Pikachu said with a smile
"Thank goodness, you're here!"Dawn said in relief.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup added.
Saturn frowned at Denise.
"Hmph, I was starting to wonder where you were."Saturn scoffed.
"Who is she?"Charon asked.
"Just another troublemaking child."Saturn answered.
"You creeps let my sister and friends go right now!"Denise demanded angrily.
"Torchic torchic!"Torchic said with a glare.
"Your in no position to make demands, here."Saturn said before me smirked. "However, if you can defeat in a battle, I'll let you release them."
"Fine by me!"Denise stated as she pulled out two pokeballs. "But you'd better keep your word!"
"Of course."Saturn replied as he got two Pokeballs as well.
"Good luck, Denise!"Ash encouraged.
"Show them what your made of!"Dawn cheered.
"We're counting on you!"Brock added.
Denise nodded before glaring determinedly at her foe.
"Kirlia and Noctowl, come on out!" Denise ordered.
Denise threw her pokeballs and her chosen pokemon appeared in the area.
"Kirlia!"Kirlia said with a curtesy.
"Noctowl!"Noctowl chirped.
"Toxicroak, Golbat, get them!"Saturn ordered and threw out his pokeballs.
Toxicroak and Golbat appeared and glared at their opponents.
"Toxicroak!"
Golbat hissed menacingly at Kirlia and Noctowl.
"Alright then, Kirlia use Ice Punch on Toxicroak!"Denise ordered. "Noctowl use Aerial Ace on Golbat!"
Kirlia and Noctowl charged at their opponents with their attacks.
"Toxicroak, dodge and use Dark Pulse!"Saturn ordered. "Golbat use Screech!"
Golbat used Screech and stopped Noctowl in his tracks.
Toxicroak avoided Kirlia before blasting her into a wall with Dark Pulse.
"Kirlia!"Denise gasped. "Noctowl!"
Kirlia stood back up and glared while Noctowl shook his head and regained his concentration.
"I'm glad you two are okay."Denise said in relief. "Now then, Noctowl, grab Kirlia and fly up!"
Noctowl grabbed Kirlia with his feet and flew towards their opponents.
"Whatever you're planning, it won't help!"Saturn stated. "Toxicroak, Sludge Bomb now!"
Toxicroak fired Sludge Bomb at Kirlia and Noctowl.
"Kirlia use Psychic and fire that Sludge Bomb at Golbat!"Denise ordered.
Kirlia used Psychic to stop the Sludge Bomb and redirect it at Golbat, scoring a direct hit.
"Nice move!"Dawn complemented.
"How did she do that?!"Charon asked in shock.
"You little meddler!"Saturn growled. "Golbat use Toxic!"
Golbat fired a purple stream of liquid at it's opponents.
"Dodge it, Noctowl!"Denise ordered.
Noctowl flew down and avoided Golbat's attack.
But then, Toxicroak appeared in front of Noctowl and Kirlia, much to their surprise.
"Oh no!"Denise shouted in shock.
"Toxicroak use Poison Jab!"Saturn ordered.
Toxicroak impaled Kirlia and Noctowl with his spiked knuckles and sent them crashing onto the ground.
Both of Denise's Pokemon started showing signs of being poisoned.
"They've been poisoned!"Brock warned.
"This isn't looking good for Denise!"Ash stated worriedly.
"Pika!"Pikachu said with a frown
"Kirlia, Noctowl, you need to get up!"Denise begged. "Please!"
Both Kirlia and Noctowl struggled to stand up from the floor.
"Just give up."Saturn said with an evil smile. "You can't win."
Denise gritted her teeth in anger and looked at her two pokemon.
"Come on, you two!"Denise encouraged. "Our friends are counting on us! We have to win this battle! I know you two can win!"
"Torchic!"Torchic protested. "Torchic!"
Kirlia and Noctowl were encouraged by Denise's words and managed to get up, despite the poison effects.
"Yes!"Denise remarked. "Time to finish this! Kirlia, use Magical Leaf on the ground!"
Kirlia fired Magical Leaf at Toxicroak's feet and blinded it and Golbat's vision.
Noctowl appeared in front of Toxicroak and Golbat.
"Naive mistake!"Saturn sneered. "Toxicroak, Rock Smash! Golbat use Poison Fang!"
"Use Reflect!"Denise ordered.
Noctowl blocked his opponent's attacks with Reflect.
"Use Rock Smash and Poison Fang repeatedly!"Saturn ordered.
"And block every one of them with Reflect!"Denise ordered with a smirk.
Toxicroak and Golbat tried hitting Noctowl, but the Owl Pokemon blocked his foes' every single attack.
"Enough of this!"Saturn snapped with a glare. "Toxicroak, Dark Pulse! Golbat, Air Cutter!"
However, Toxicroak and Golbat were unable to move because the mirrors from Noctowl's reflect had them completely trapped.
"What?!"Saturn questioned in shock.
"That's awesome!"Ash said with a smile. "Toxicroak and Golbat can't move now!"
"What a great way to use Reflect!"Brock remarked.
"Wrap it up, Denise!"Dawn insisted.
"Prinplup!"Prinplup chirped.
Denise nodded in response.
"Alright Kirlia, finish it up with Psychic!"Denise ordered.
Kirlia lifted both of her opponents into the air before slamming them into the ground.
When the dust cleared, Toxicroak and Golbat had swirls on their eyes, meaning that Denise was the winner.
"We did it!"Denise cheered proudly. "Thanks a lot, Kirlia and Noctowl! You two are just incredible!"
"Torchic!"Torchic tweeted with a smile.
"Noctowl."Noctowl responded with a nod.
"Kirlia!"Kirlia said happily as she did a twirl.
Denise brought out two Antidotes from her bag and sprayed them on Kirlia and Noctowl, curing their poisoned states.
Denise then looked at Saturn, who returned Toxicroak and Golbat to their pokeballs.
"Alright, I won!"Denise declared with a frown. "Now let me free my friends!"
Saturn chuckled in response as he smirked evilly.
"Did you really think I would let you release your friends?"Saturn asked. "You're more foolish than I thought. We only needed to lure you out instead of searching for you in these endless tunnels."
Denise found herself ganged up by Team Galactic grunts.
Ash, Dawn and Brock gasped in shock as Denise gave Saturn a hateful glare.
"You miserable lying snake!"Denise shouted in anger.
Torchic, Kirlia and Noctowl immediately stood in front of their trainer protectively.
"Stop!"A voice shouted.
Denise, Saturn and Charon saw a Team Galactic grunt standing in front of Ash, Dawn, Brock, Pikachu, Prinplup and Shellos before releasing all of them.
"What is the meaning of this?"Charon demanded.
Then the Team Galactic grunt removed his disguise to reveal himself to be Looker.
"End of the line, Team Galactic!"Looker shouted.
"Mr Looker!"Denise and Ash said in unison.
"Who are you?"Saturn questioned.
"I'm a member of the international police!"Looker declared. "The name is Looker!"
This surprised Denise, Torchic, Kirlia and Noctowl while Ash, Brock and Dawn were shocked.
"International police?!"Brock said in shock.
"Whoa!"Dawn gasped. "Who knew?!"
"I recently received a report of a meddling outside agent spying on our work and that would be you!"Saturn retorted.
"We're always keeping a close eye on everything you do!"Looker warned.
Shellos began slithering away from the group.
"Shellos!"Dawn called out.
"You guys follow Shellos!"Denise insisted. "We'll handle these guys!"
"Capture them!"Saturn ordered.
The Team Galactic Grunts rushed forward with their staffs, but Looker and Denise easily fought them off.
Kirlia used Magical Leaf and Torchic fired Ember while Noctowl used his wings to blow gust at the Team Galactic grunts.
"Look at them go!"Ash insisted. "Looker and Dennie are awesome!"
"Sir, we got a signal!"A grunt declared.
One of the Grunts detected a signal and Charon's device confirmed that there was a large space behind the rock wall.
"It appears that there is a space behind this stone."Charon commented as he checked his device. "A signal in the ruin of some sort."
"Finally!"Saturn sneered and took out a pokeball. "Toxicroak appear now!"
Saturn sends out his Toxicroak near the rocks.
"Toxicroak!"
"Toxicroak use Rock Smash to destroy the wall."Saturn ordered.
Toxicroak used Rock Smash to destroy the rocks causing Looker and Denise to look at it.
"There must be some ruin in the other side."Looker insisted.
Denise winced I quietly as she suddenly felt her head ache in pain.
After Toxicroak did a few jabs, some old ruins were revealed.
"A spear pillar."Charon said with a smile.
"You better be correct this time."Saturn warned.
"Of course, I am."Charon replied. "It is indeed the gateway to the spear pillar."
"Good."Saturn said and looked at Team Rocket. "I'll take that key back from you now."
"Dream on, dweeb!"Jessie, Meowth and James shouted in unison.
"Do it!"Saturn ordered.
The Golbats started attacking Team Rocket before taking the case from them.
"Hey!"Jessie argued. "That's our treasure!"
"Stealing what we took is bad luck for us!"James shouted.
"What he says!"Meowth agreed.
"Now Toxicroak use Dark Pulse."Saturn ordered simply.
Saturn takes the Spear Key back from Team Rocket and Toxicroak uses Dark Pulse to send Team Rocket blasting off.
"Why couldn't we open their whatcha call it with that key?!"Jessie demanded.
"It's not a whatcha call it."James said.
"You see it opens the gateway to the spear pillar and you don't."Meowth stated.
"Wobbu wobbu!"Wobbuffet agreed.
"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"Team Rocket screamed and disappeared in the sky.
"Alright, take the key out of its case."Charon ordered.
"Sir!"the Team Galactic Grunt answered.
A grunt opened the case to reveal the Spear Key inside.
"Ah, the Spear Key."Charon remarked. "Open the gateway and direct us to the Spear Pillar right away."
Everyone looked at the Spear Key, but nothing happened.
"So Charon, why isn't the key responding?"Saturn questioned.
"Well, it looks like we got the wrong ruin."Charon admitted.
"What?"Saturn asked with a irritated look.
"Obviously this ruin isn't the gateway to the Spear Pillar."Charon admitted.
Saturn growled at the grunts.
"Alright, clear out!"Saturn ordered.
"Team Galactic!"Looker shouted. "Stop!"
The Golbats launched toward Looker causing Ash, Dawn and Denise notice Team Galactic making their escape.
"Quick, Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"Ash ordered.
"Prinplup use Bubble Beam!"Dawn ordered.
"Torchic use Ember again!"Denise ordered.
Pikachu, Prinplup and Torchic attempt to stop Team Galactic by using Thunderbolt, Bubble Beam and Ember, but the Golbat use Protect to make the bad guys escape.
Looker went next to the heroes.
"They got away."Looker said.
Suddenly the place began to flood due to Toxicroak's Rock Smash.
"What's going on?!"Ash demanded.
"Shellos."Shellos whimpered nervously.
"The water is flooding out!"Looker answered. "It's all because Toxicroak destroyed the rock!"
"This is bad!"Denise scowled. "Kirlia! Noctowl! Return!"
Denise returned Kirlia and Noctowl in their pokeballs.
"Now what do we do?"Dawn asked worriedly.
"Get in everybody!"Looker ordered.
Looker takes out an inflatable raft, allowing him and the four heroes to narrowly escape the cave.
Later that Evening...
Looker and the four heroes safely moved out of the flooding cave.
"Is everybody okay?"Looker asked.
"Yeah."Ash answered.
"Thank you so much for everything, Mr Looker."Brock thanked.
"I'm glad you are all at one peace."Looker commented.
"By the way, we had no idea you were an International Police officer."Dawn remarked.
"You surprised us real good when you admitted that."Denise chuckled.
"I didn't mean to surprise you."Looker replied. "I'll be heading back to headquarters now. So what are you going to do?"
"See, we all promised Shellos to take it back to its friends."Ash explained.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Pikachu."Pikachu said.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
"Well, it looks like we're already at the western side of the mountain."Looker admitted. "So you'll be able to find Shellos' home. Stay out of trouble."
"Right."Brock, Ash, Dawn and Denise answered in unison.
Looker headed back to headquarters while the heroes continued onto Shellos' home.
Brock noticed the mud water from the flash flood clogged up the tunnels Team Galactic made.
"Guys look over there."Brock said.
"Amazing."Dawn complemented. "All the tunnel exits of the mountain sides have been sealed."
"Then that means the Shellos will never wind up on the wrong side of the mountain ever again."Denise responded with a smile.
"Thank goodness."Dawn said.
"Shellos."
Ash, Brock, Dawn and Denise notice Shellos' herd showing up behind them.
"Look at that."Ash chuckled. "It's Shellos' herd."
Shellos went off of Prinplup's head to reunite with its friends.
"Now your back with your friends."Ash declared.
"Take good care."Dawn instructed.
"Make sure to always stay with them."Denise giggled.
"And don't get lose ever again."Brock added.
"Prinplup."Prinplup chirped.
"Pika."Pikachu said.
"Torchic."Torchic tweeted.
Shellos nodded. "Shellos."
The heroes said goodbye to Shellos as they continued their way towards Lilypad Town.
