A.N. — I normally do not do trigger warnings before a work, as I feel they dilute the impact an event might have. This drabble warrants one for a very broken home. It also expands upon the last drabble. I dunno what it says about me, that this dark drabble is among the ones I feel most satisfied with in this collection so far.

134. Theodore Nott

Theo Nott envied Harry Potter sometimes. Not for his fame or fortune, but for his being orphaned.

His father had raised Theo largely alone. Indeed, the senior Nott played up his widower status in social circles. But to Theo, the man would always be mum's murderer.

The first memory Theo had was her death. He'd woken to a disturbance, crept downstairs, only to stop, horror-struck, on the shadowed staircase. Theo silently cried as his father backhanded his mother so hard, her head cracked against the fireplace mantle.

So, yeah, Theo would rather have no parents than what he had now.
