Chapter 145: Alvarez Empire Arc: During Hushed Times

"You've hit your limit." Wall stated, seeing Laxus kneel on one knee and heaving for breath. "Your Magical Barrier Particles contamination has reach critical levels. You've been completely incapacitated. Even breathing should be difficult. But even if you could move, lightning has no effect on me. This is what they call 'checkmate' in chess. Here, I'll finish you now. Be grateful." he lifted his barrel for the finishing blow. "I'm going to wipe out all your pain and agony, along with your body. Charging prohibited ether-nano-based armament. Magic fusion generator at critical output. Kill System online. Activating Etherion. Say goodbye. What is this?" he was shocked when Laxus drew a circular enchantment array around them. "And enchantment? He drew this magic circle in the middle of our fight?"

"Learned this from Freed himself." Laxus got to his feet. "Anyone inside this enchantment..."

"Sorry to burst your bubble." Wall bragged. "Have you forgotten? Enchantments are nothing to me. Magical Barrier Particle Canceler." he nullified the enchantment circle.

"I owe you thanks, Freed." Laxus got back into the fight. "There aren't many mages that can break your enchantments. Pretty much the ones who can are those who can completely neutralize Magical Barrier Particles; which is basically like medicine to me."

"Crap." Wall cursed, realizing his mistake.

"I hate to bare my fangs at the guy who saved my life," Laxus charged forward to end the fight. "But you also took out my pals."

"Lightning doesn't hurt me." Wall laughed. "You're powerless. Powerless, indeed."

"I ain't about to give up my life just like that." Laxus landed a lightning-powered punch at Wall's stomach.

"What is this dark red lightning?" Wall was stunned when Laxus' lightning-charged punch changed attribute.

"Megaton Red Lightning!" Laxus ended his fight, taking out Wall.

In the Fairy Tail Guildhall...

"Warren, what's the situation at each battlefield?" Mavis asked.

"No activity from Zeref's division to the west." Warren reported. "Things are at a deadlock to the north. I think the situation will improve once Gajeel's group get there."

"What about the east, where the Wizard Saints are?" Max pressed.

"I'm not exactly sure what happened, but one of the Twelve there is gone and the other two are headed this way." Warren replied.

"What about Ulyo's group to the south?" Makarov inquired.

"One of the Twelve there fell off my radar." Warren answered. "Someone might've defeated them."

"We could really use your wisdom right about now, Shodai." Makarov turned to Mavis for advice.

"Please give me some time." Mavis requested.

Outside Hargeon...

"Gray." Lyon prompted and the two ice mages locked their opponents in ice.

"Water Slicer!" Juvia let loose her water blades at her opponents.

"Juvia, behind you!" Lyon warned, seeing two soldiers about to jump Juvia from behind.

"Droplet Spear!" Ulyo's triple-shot attack blasted the two soldiers off and Meredy's purple magic blast took them out.

"Good to see you two again." the Maguilty Sense announced her arrival. "Crime Sorcière is joining the battle."

"If you're here, then Jellal..." Ulyo blinked. "I see; he joined up with Erza then. And here's hoping Kagura doesn't kill him on sight."

With Dimaria, Sherria, Wendy and Carla...

"Right now, I'm the only person in the world." Dimaria walked towards the three girls who were locked in time. "In a world all of my own. There's a wish that everyone has at least once in their lives; if I could only stop time. But the 'Âge Seal' magic can stop time." she paused in front of Wendy. "Understand what that means? It's the ultimate magic. Nothing can beat it. After all, none of you can do a thing in this world. Killing all of you at once would be so easy, but where's the fun in that? When time goes back to normal, one of your pals will be dead for some reason. So, who should I choose? It's gotta be you who kicked me in the face." she sneered at Wendy. "This is goodbye." she grinned and raised her sword, ready to cut off Wendy's head.

"Sherria!" Wendy shouted, jumping to dodge the blade.

"Leading Sky Arrow!"

"Trailing Sky Arrow!" the two wind users landed their magically-charged kicks at Dimaria.

"Time has been distorted." Ultear stepped into the fight. "This world is is rift in time and space. You think you're the only one in this world? You aren't. This is my world, too. This is a prison of time. Crime Sorcière has come to punish you for your misdeeds."

"Are you the one who unlocked my flow of time?" Dimaria demanded.

"Not at all." Ultear corrected. "Time is still stopped. I am a dweller of this rift of time. In other words, I only exist within this domain of locked time. Although, I don't exist within normal time, I'm here now because you stopped that flow of time."

"How dare you defile my world..." Dimaria growled.

"If she was the only one who could move when time stopped, then the fight really would've ended in an instant." Carla now realized what Dimaria meant.

"What does this all mean, Ultear?" Wendy asked the time mage.

"Her magic stops time." Ultear confirmed. "But, for some reason, I can exist like this when time is stopped. And I used my power to let all of you move, too. It's not so bad, being in a rift of time."

"Get out!" Dimaria roared, turning to attack Ultear.

"I'm only conceptual,so I can't fight alongside you." Ultear stated, Dimaria's blade slashing harmlessly through her as proof. "You can only move while I hold time in place."

"This is my world!" Dimaria fired her outraged energy blasts at the two wind users. "I won't let anyone interfere."

"Sky Dragon Wing Attack!"

"Sky God Boreas!"

"I'll show you why I can control time, and the power of the Twelve." Dimaria growled and activated the God Soul Takeover, the energy surge sent both girls flying back. "Take Over: God Soul."

"The power of a God?" Ultear whispered.

"Hear unto me." Chronos droned, merged with Dimaria's body. "I am Chronos, the God of Time. I am a God of the ancient Mildians, Dimaria is of their progeny. Together, we have taken this singular form."

"If you really are a God, then I guess it's a good thing I'm a God Slayer." Sherria retorted.

Chronos simply pointed a finger and Carla's precognition ability foresaw the attack was directed at Wendy.

"Wendy!" Carla pushed Wendy out of harm's way, taking the attack that shot through her waist.

"Carla, say something!" Wendy pleaded, the gravely injured white Exceed collapsed to the ground.

"You have desecrated my realm." Chronos declared. "As corpses, you shall atone."

"She's 'still' alive." Ultear spoke. "I ejected her from the time rift. In other words, time has stopped for her. I barely got her out in time, though. Once time starts again, she'll... you have to win this fight and cast a full-powered healing spell at the exact moment time starts again. I can only keep you inside the time rift for a little longer." she added, her body had started breaking apart. "Defeat her quickly. Are you prepared to use the power of the future?" she asked the two winder users, taken aback by their sheer determination. "The power you stand to gain in the future." she brought out her crystal ball. "You'll need to use all of it now. That's the only way you'll be able to beat her. But, once you use this special art, you'll never be able to use magic again. That is the power of the future: the Third Origin."
