Chapter 150: Alvarez Empire Arc: The Two of Us, Forever

"Levy, hang in there." Gajeel charged Bloodman again. "I'm gonna take this freak down right now."

"Your struggling is for naught." Bloodman used his mist body to avoid getting hit by the 'Iron Dragon Club' and used his 'Thorns' spell to hit Gajeel repeatedly. "Your attacks do not affect me." he added, Gajeel managed to dispel the tendrils attacking him and the Etherious Demon's next attack sent him crashing into a boulder.

"Having a cat as a partner, the nausea that all Dragon Slayers get when riding a vehicle, and finally obtaining the Dragon Force," Gajeel muttered, slamming a fist on the ground. "I always took long than the others. I felt so frustrated and pathetic and wanted to walk away from it all. But now," he stood back up. "Nothing of that matters to me anymore. Protecting the girl I fell for is all I care about now."

"No..." Levy whispered, realizing Gajeel had intended to suck in the Magical Barrier Particles Bloodman had emitted.

"He's consuming the Magical Barrier Particles." Bloodman noticed the same thing. "Magical Barrier Particles destroy Ether-nano. They cannot be combined."

"Don't do it, Gajeel!" Levy shouted.

"What?" Bloodman was taken aback when Gajeel activated his Dragon Force. "Black iron? It's steel."

"There'll be no going back!" Levy cried.

"He's utilized the trace amounts of iron found in Magical Barrier Particles to ingest the poison?" Bloodman could not believe Gajeel had this method of countering his Magical Barrier Particles. "His attacks are connecting?" he was hit by Gajeel's punches and kicks. "He converted his body to match mine just so he could make physical contact? I refuse!' he cursed, Gajeel was pummeling him with his rapid punches. "I refuse to accept that such a human exists."

"I will take Levy back to our Guild!" Gajeel swore, ending the fight with a 'Dragon Force' powered punch.

"My death will not be wasted." the dying Bloodman grabbed Gajeel with a series of energy threads and pulled him into the swirling portal. "I'm taking you with me. This is a gate to the Underworld from which there is no return."

"Stay away!" Gajeel barked, stopping Levy in her tracks. "My body's become one large clump of Magical Barrier Particles. If you touch me, you'll also end up..."

"I don't care what happens." Levy protested. "I'm going to save you. I swear it. What are you doing, Gajeel?" she demanded when Gajeel locked her on the boulder with a pair of iron cuffs.

"This is the only way..." Gajeel started.

"I'm not the same person now." Levy cried, using a leg to write 'Solid Script: Sword' and freed herself.

At the last moment, Pantherlily held Levy back.

"Levy, I really was a no-good piece of scum." Gajeel admitted. "But then, I met you. I think you helped make me a better person. And you taught me to love others. Thanks to you, I started to think about things I'd never once considered before. The future, a family, happiness. It's hilarious. The great and mighty Gajeel actually acting like a normal person. I wanted us to walk together, always. I never imagined losing the future would be this terrifying. I entrust my future to you. Live enough for me too. Lily, take Levy back to the Guild."

"I promise." Pantherlily was also weeping after the portal shut.

"Six more until all dragons are slayed." Acnologia had sensed Gajeel's disappearance.

"So, that's your objective then." Irene noted, floating in the sky.

"Begone." Acnologia warned. "I've no business with you."

"How very menacing you are." Irene landed on the ground.

"You would bar my path, knowing who I am?" Acnologia asked.

"But of course, Acnologia-sama." Irene answered.

"Perhaps, you'll entertain me a bit, then." Acnologia noted.

"Yes, quite a bit." Irene responded. "So, shall we begin?" she fired off a massive energy ball at Acnologia.

"An atmospheric enchantment..." Acnologia recognized the magic and nullified it with a swing of his arm. "You're the one who can magically augment anything at all: a High Enchanter." he retaliated with a pillar of energy underneath Irene's feet. "You're pretty strong." he was intrigued when Irene easily dodged the attack. "For someone who learned from the Black Mage. This'll be fun."

"The rumors don't do you justice, either." Irene remarked. "It's no wonder His Majesty fears you. But I'm sure that'll change once he has the Fairy Heart."

"The Black Mage hopes to surpass me?" Acnologia scoffed.

"It's possible." Irene noted.

"If you hope I'll leave the lowly humans alone after that happens, you're sorely mistaken." Acnologia smirked.

"That's an odd way of putting it." Irene stated. "I head you were once human yourself. Still, you're exactly right. I'd prefer you didn't interfere. His Majesty views this as a game, you see. So I need you to behave, so we can finish this war quickly." in an instant, she activated 'Universe One' on the entire of Fiore. "My name is Irene. I hope we meet again, Acnologia-sama."
