We started back at school today, all of us except Emmett were horribly tense. Alice seems distraught at the possibility of us leaving and she and Jasper have made it clear that they will fight my corner against Carlisle and Esme, should they try to separate me from Bella and make us leave Forks. I am genuinely humbled by their kindness and solidarity, I have certainly never done anything to earn it, though very much intend to prove myself worthy of it.

Emmett says he thinks Bella is nice and she 'doesn't seem like a blabbermouth'. He doesn't want to move because he likes his room here and said that he 'thought something like this would happen'. How on Earth that could possibly be true is a mystery, as is what he meant by 'something like this'. Did he know he was going to cause a domino effect resulting in this kind of exposure? Surely that is impossible. As ever Emmett is a cheerful enigma.

Rosalie was uncommonly quiet, her thoughts stewing over what Carlisle and Esme would say about yesterday, we are waiting for them to meet with us this evening after they arrive home.

At lunchtime Bella looked angrily at me across the cafeteria, she was scribbling something and kept looking up and glaring at me intermittently. She didn't let her plaster cast deter her efforts and was intently focused on whatever she was working on.

After about fifteen awkward minutes of this my family left to go to afternoon classes. I stayed back a while, unsure what to do. Bella was obviously enraged and I felt I needed to try to diffuse the situation somehow, but had no idea what to do.

She made the decision for me when she stood up, grasping the paper she had scribbled on and clumsily marched over to my table. I looked up at her quite terrified of the stream of vitriol she was surely going to spout at me but she said nothing and instead thrust the crumpled paper towards me.

I looked at it and burst out laughing. The few students left in the cafeteria all turned to look at me incredulously and Bella's jaw dropped in amazement.

"Bella" I wheezed out between snorts. I was laughing so hard I could barely speak at all. "What is this?!"

"It's you, you big fucking dingus!" She said, half angry and half giggling herself. "I told you I'd draw you for revenge if you ever made me angry enough and you've gone and done it now!"

"Me?!"

"Yup! I hope you're sorry you ever provoked me! Look what you made me do! It's hideous!"

"It really is!" I managed, grinning at her, still shaking with laughter.

"C'mon you dope. We'll be late for class." She said and grabbed my hand, pulling me up.

I clutched the ugliest portrait ever to have been drawn and tried to get myself together, still giggling quite uncontrollably.

"Edward" she said quietly, blushing a bright pink.

"Huh?" I looked at her and she was gazing at me the same way she had in the kitchen on New Year's Eve. My chest swelled and I tingled all over from the warmth of her touch.

"I really like your laugh." She whispered shyly and gave my hand a little squeeze.

And I smiled, looking at the woman I love more than I ever thought possible, and knew everything was going to be ok, no matter what, because Bella Swan had made me laugh for the first time in as long as I could remember.

A/N: There is a picture of Bella's portrait of Edward on my Deviant Art page. Just search for LogLadyJ, it's in the featured gallery.
