(The Lady on the List and The Woman in White)
Thank you for reviewing my story. I appreciate it.
A/N: remember this story is AU.
I don't own Bones.
Ooooooooooooooooo
Booth let Brennan choose the date they would be married and he was surprised when she chose October 21st.
"October 21st? Why October 21st? Puzzled, Booth looked up from the notebook Brennan was using to plan the wedding and stared at her.
"I remember you telling me that October 21, 1980 was the best day of your life. It was your one perfect day with your father." Brennan smiled. "I want that day to be the best day of your life for other reasons too. Not just a day your father remembered he had a son."
His throat tight, Booth nodded his head. Waiting to overcome his emotions before saying anything, Booth grasped her hand and kissed it. "Thanks . . . thank you, but Bones when I said that was the best day of my life I meant as a child. I've had a lot of best days since then. The day we met, the day we started a relationship, the day Christine was born . . . My best days keep getting better and better."
"I understand, but that day is still significant enough that you remember it and I want to make that day even more memorable." She had thought about her wedding day and she had thought about Booth's past and she wanted their wedding day to make October 21st a happier day. "Even though you said it was the best day of your life . . . in your childhood, it is a day that brings you sadness, not happiness. I want to make that day a happy day for you. I hope I am explaining myself better than I think I am."
Leaning over and kissing her, Booth knew that he was lucky to have someone like Brennan in his life. "I understand and . . . well, thank you. It's a good day to get married."
Pleased, Brennan returned his kiss and returned her attention to her notebook. "Angela wants to help me with the wedding plans."
"What, no . . . no, this is our wedding and we don't need help from anyone." Booth wanted to nip that in the bud. "I mean, it's nice that she wants to help, but come on, we can do this. We don't need help." He knew she was uncertain. "At least think about it before you say yes to her . . . okay?"
"I will think about it." She wasn't sure why Booth wanted to keep Angela out of the wedding preparations, but it was his day as well as hers and perhaps he just wanted to make sure it fit his idea of what a wedding should be.
He knew she didn't understand, but Booth didn't know how to explain how he felt about the situation. It was their day and he wanted it to be planned by them to make it a perfect day. "That's all I ask."
Oooooooooooooooooooooo
Brennan did think about it and in the end, she knew that Booth was right. She hated for people to tell her what to do. The wedding was personal and to have someone else in control of their wedding made no sense. She knew it was disappointing to Angela because her best friend had several ideas that she thought would make the wedding perfect, but Brennan felt like that would change the wedding.
"But Honey, a wedding has a lot of components and you might need help." Angela was still hopeful that she could plan part of the wedding. Her wedding had been sudden and it hadn't been the fairy tale wedding she had dreamed of as a young girl, but she thought Brennan could have those things. "I mean, there's the caterer, the music, the reception, the wedding itself, flowers, the cake . . ."
"Angela, I know you mean well, but Booth and I have our own ideas about those things and we don't want any help." A little irritated, Brennan felt like her friend was pressuring her over something that wasn't her business. "I would like you to be my 'matron of honor' though."
Surprised, Angela hurried around Brennan's desk and pulled her up into a hug. "Oh Honey, I'd be honored. I can whip up a bachelorette party for you that will make you blush when you think about it in the future."
Wary, Brennan stared at her friend for a moment and knew she didn't want a party. "No, I don't want a bachelorette party. I'm much too busy getting ready for the wedding and working here."
"You're kidding." Stunned, Angela stared at Brennan and tried to gather her thoughts. "Honey, it's traditional. In this country anyway. It's your last blowout as a single person before you tie the knot."
Amused, Brennan sat back down and leaned on her desk. "I don't need a blowout Angela and I've been living in a monogamous relationship with Booth for a few years now. I don't require or want a bachelorette party. I have better things to do with my time."
Disappointed, Angela walked back around the desk and sat down. "Is it because Booth doesn't want you to have one? He can be so prudish. Just ignore him."
"Booth and I haven't talked about a bachelorette party, Angela and if we did and I wanted one, it wouldn't matter what Booth wanted." Tired of the conversation, Brennan turned to face her PC. "I have told you I don't want one. I have given you my reasons and now I must return to work."
Dismissed, Angela knew it wouldn't do any good to argue with her friend. If there was any hope in salvaging this thing, she'd have to enlist help from their friends. She just wasn't sure who to get to help her. Most people didn't like to push Brennan into anything since she had a tendency to push back. Brennan was very independent.
Oooooooooooooooo
Brennan had decided upon a church wedding and that surprised Booth. He had thought she would want a civil ceremony, since she didn't believe in God.
"I don't care where we get married, Booth." Brennan was peeling an orange for Christine for dessert while Booth prepped some vegetables for a salad for them. "The venue is not important to me."
Grateful that Brennan was willing to do a church wedding, Booth realized he was a lucky man to have someone in his life who cared so much about him. He never thought he'd find anyone to share his life with and he was happy that he had been proved wrong. "Great, I'll call Father Harrow and make sure he's available to do the service."
"That's fine." Brennan knew that Booth liked his priest and if he could be married in his church it would make the ceremony more special. "Let me know if he declines for whatever reason. I'll need to find a priest and a church soon as possible since most weddings are booked months in advance."
"I will." The salad finished, he carried the bowl over to the table and returned to the counter to retrieve plates, forks and dressing. "Pops will be happy. He wanted to see us in a church wedding, but I told him that you might not want that."
Her child satisfied with her orange slices, Brennan wiped the child's face with a napkin, lifted her out of the highchair and placed her on her lap. "I talked to Russ about the wedding and he said he may not be able to attend. Hayley's health hasn't been good lately and he doesn't want to stress the child by traveling out of state to a wedding . . . I will miss him, but we cannot move the wedding to North Carolina to accommodate him."
"No . . . um, no we can't." Booth sat down, reached across the table and patted her hand. "We'll have someone record the wedding and send a copy to Russ."
"Alright." Brennan had hoped her brother would be at her wedding, but the fact that her father had already said he'd be there was all that mattered. Russ had his own families and responsibilities so she didn't really expect much from her brother. He had been a constant disappointment to her and she didn't expect anything to change now.
Oooooooooooooooo
The church was beautiful, bright flowers at the end of the pews, smartly dressed witnesses sitting in the pews waiting for the bride to walk down the aisle, the nervous groom standing in front of the priest, the groom's son standing next to him prepared to do the duties of the best man.
Carolyn sat on the groom's side of the church and dabbed at her eyes with an embroidered handkerchief. She loved Booth like a little brother and she was so proud to see him finally get married. She'd witnessed the slow dance between Booth and Brennan for many years and she had been so happy for them when they had moved in together and had become a couple.
The pair seemed to be so happy even when their jobs brought danger to them. Booth and Brennan protected each other and were loyal to a fault and Carolyn knew that was their strength. In the past, a life time ago or so it seemed, she had been married and she had thought she had found someone to live her life with, but David had been just as obstinate as she was and their marriage had failed. Caroline saw something different with Booth and his partner. They were like two sides of a coin, different but together they were strong and unbreakable. She was certain this marriage would last a lifetime and that made the happy tears flow again.
Max slowly walked his daughter down the aisle and he knew that his life had come along way in the last nine years. He had made a huge mistake when Temperance was 15 years old. By running away with his wife and leaving his children behind, he had thought he was saving them, but in the end his children had suffered. His daughter was special, he had known she was special, but he had thought his son would take care of her and finish raising her. It was years before he found out his Temperance had been taken by the State of Illinois and put in a foster home. His son had walked away from his sister and his responsibilities and Temperance had suffered both physically and mentally. Too late to do anything about it, he had found out that his daughter had been abused while in foster care and only her strength and independence saved her. She had raised herself and she had grown into a strong, self-reliant woman.
His daughter had every right not to trust him when he had come back into her life and it had taken years for her to allow him to become part of her family. Now he was giving her away to a fine man who loved her very much and he was grateful he had lived to see this day. Max vowed to make sure he would always be there for her and he would never do anything to make her feel she couldn't trust him. He loved his daughter and because of her forgiveness he had a family again. He would never fail her or her family.
His eyes misty from unshed tears, Hank watched his grandson get married and he knew that he had completed his job. When he had found out the boy and his brother were being abused by Edwin, he had taken them from his son and vowed to be the father they needed. His grandsons had been brutally abused and had suffered mentally from that abuse. Their ability to trust anyone had been damaged and Hank had worked from that day forward to prove that love was real and trust could be found with those they loved if they just gave people a chance to prove it.
Hank had seen his grandson Seeley fail many times when it came to love and it had worried him that the boy might never find that special someone to live his life with. It had worried him until he had met Temperance Brennan and he had known that she was the one his boy was looking for. It had taken Seeley a long time to see that for himself and Hank had despaired that his grandson would never see his soul mate was there. He had prayed that he would open his eyes and see the one he could share his life with standing next to him.
Temperance had also had her trust issues and she too fought the fact that there was someone in her life that she could trust and love. Hank had worried that even if his grandson was open to having a relationship with his partner, she might not be open to a relationship. He had prayed many prayers silently asking that God give the couple a nudge towards each other and he must have heard because here his grandson was, getting married to the woman he loved and needed in his life. Temperance was strong and compassionate and she loved her partner, Seeley Booth. For that reason, Hank would always love Temperance Brennan and he would be forever grateful that such a fine human being was now in his family.

Let me know what you think of my story. Thank you.
This is the last chapter of 'Silent Fear'. It was only supposed to be two chapters long but as usual I never seem to know when to stop. I hope you enjoyed it.
