Helping Hand
Marnie sat at her desk, humming to herself as she was writing something in her journal. "Mmm…" Marnie stretched her arms and got up. "Aaah…"
As she got up, she accidentally knocked her pen off of her desk. "Oops." She said as the pen rolled underneath her bed. "Aaah… bollocks." She muttered as she knelt down, seeing the pen was in the middle of the floor. She grinned and started reaching toward it, but found that she was unable to get it.
"Oh come on… nnngh… I'm almost there…!" She said. "Rrrgh, curse these chibified arms!" She complained as she folded her arms, rubbing her chin in thought as she looked down at her metal arm. "…Ah!" She pounded her metal fist into her palm.
She reached down, her metal arm closing in. "Almost there… come on… got it!" She grinned as she rolled it out as she picked up the pen with her left arm and then reattached her metal arm. She let out a giggle and then walked out of her room with a hum.
Chess
"Hey Xehanort! I got the newest edition of this chess series!" Eraqus exclaimed with a grin.
"Heh, alright… let's get to playing." He said as Eraqus set the chess board down as they set the pieces up.
"Alright, let's see here…"
"Hold on." Xehanort spoke up. "Why are your pieces leaving one giant space in the middle?"
"Cause apparently, they split up." Eraqus explained. "Let's see… I move these pieces here…"
"It should be simple. You just lie on your back and-" Nora pressed a button, sending Weiss flying. "WAAAAAAAAAH!"
"Where did that tube come from?" Xehanort wondered.
"I dunno." Eraqus shrugged. "Let's see… then these guys go this way and-"
"Then I bring this new guy to attack your smaller group!" Xehanort moved his piece to his.
"Huh?! Where did he come from?!" Eraqus yelled.
"He's using Oscar as a shield!"
"But… Grimm aren't all that smart."
"Give him back!" Ren aimed his weapons at him.
"…No."
"Whoa whoa whoa, can you do that?!" Eraqus said, watching the piece take his piece away. "Kidnapping in chess?!"
"You better hurry, they're getting away." Xehanort grinned as Eraqus tried to get his pieces moving, but black chess pieces popped up all over the place.
"Agh, stupid Grimm!" Eraqus growled.
"Aaaand he's gone!" Xehanort said. "You're down one player."
"Yeah well, I still have my other team to worry about." Eraqus said. "Besides, it's not like those three are moping around."
"I'm just saying what nobody else wants to. We're way in over our heads, Ruby is barely more than a kid, I'm just an orphan from the middle of nowhere-"
"Ren, I am-"
"YOU cheated your way into Beacon!"
"…Why do I feel like I jinxed myself?" Eraqus sweatdropped. "Anyway, my other team is moving around Atlas undetected-"
"AAAAAAAH!"
"Read the sign, Bill. READ THE SIGN!"
"Mosey their way up to the control room-"
"And then they get ambushed by the Ace-Ops!" Xehanort said, pushing his pieces forward.
"Clever!" Eraqus smirked. "But… I have the Winter Maiden! Penny can wipe the floor with-" He witnessed Ace Ops pieces pinning her down. "Huh?! Well… shoot."
"Ah yes, because that's totally gonna work out well." Eraqus rolled his eyes with a smirk. "How are you gonna get out of this?"
"Uh… oh! I know! I'll use this powerhouse to bust them out of there and help out!"
"HrrrrrrrrrraaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Nora screamed, swinging her hammer at the door to blow it to bits. "That was pretty awesome…" She sand and then collapsed.
"What?! What do you mean she collapsed?!" Eraqus said.
"Hmm, it seems like whatever you did scarred her… and her aura's gone too."
"Okay… tell me. How well is my Oscar piece doing in captivity?"
"…By the looks of it, my Hazel piece is beating the crap out of him. …Oh, and now my Salem piece is torturing him."
Eraqus jawdropped. "Oh come on! One of my men is getting the tar beaten out of him at your side of the board?! What kind of game is this?!"
"You bought it." Xehanort said. "This is quite the game. Heh, looks to be quite in my favor!"
"Oh, you wish! I'm just getting started." Eraqus said. "I'll take my Penny piece… and bring Maria and Pietro with her…"
"Ah! I wouldn't go that far. Cinder, Emerald and Neo!" Xehanort pushed his pieces over to them.
"Pffft, I have the Winter Maiden."
"Get AWAY from her, you bi-" Neo's ship slammed into Maria's mech. "AAAAH!"
"Worry about your other fighter." Xehanort said.
"Oh, I'm not too worried…" Eraqus said, watching Cinder and Penny fight until eventually, Penny KO's Cinder. "Ha! There goes your loser Cinder piece. She became worthless after volume 5!"
"Mmm… I wish we knew a little more about her. It's not like we have a flashback story, right?" Xehanort shrugged.
"Well… apparently…" Eraqus held the instruction manual. "There's a backstory to Cinder in the manual!"
"Huh?!" Xehanort took the manual. "Slave… evil stepmother and step sisters, enslaved in a hotel, tormented her with a collar… some guy named Rhodes trained her secretly… several years later, she snapped and… OKAY HOLD ON A SECOND. WHY are we getting her backstory now and not like… I dunno, the third volume of this chess set?"
"Beats me!" Eraqus shrugged. "Anyway… oh, it looks like Penny is falling to her death… why?"
"Didn't you know? My Arthur Watts piece is working with Ironwood and he hacked Penny. She's currently falling as we speak."
"Ah… whatever, I still my Pietro and Maria pieces. They'll be back and-" He saw them disappear. "Where'd they go? WHERE DID THEY GO?! What happened to them?!"
"Okay… that's unexpected."
"Rrrgh… lousy…" He grumbled. "…Oh, now I see your whale piece decided to make his grand debut. I was wondering when he'd come into… hang on." Eraqus looked at the box. "HER?! This big thing is a girl?! …Could've fooled me."
"Huh, would you look at that. It looks like my Winter and Ace-Ops pieces arrested your Yang, Ren and Jaune pieces and are taking them to the whale."
"Oh… and it looks like your Hound piece is going to my other team." Eraqus said. "And apparently, Penny is with them."
"Heh, if it clobbered your smaller team… then I'm pretty sure your bigger team won't stand a chance." Xehanort smirked. "You're toast."
"That's… enough." Ruby said in a low voice before using her Silver Eyes on the Hound.
"You were saying?" Eraqus smirked.
"Hmm, I doubt you did too much damage on him." Xehanort said, picking his piece back up and smirked back.
"Take… the girl… take… THE GIRL!"
"…What is going on right now." Eraqus said, looking a bit rattled as he tried to move his Ruby piece back as Xehanort smirked and moved the Hound piece. Come on dude, think! He thought and then glanced at his Whitley and Willow piece. Oh hello…
"TAKE. THE. GIRL. TAKE! THE! GIIIIRL! TAKE. THE. GIRL!" The Hound lunged at RWB, but Whitley and Willow dropped a statue on top of it.
"WHAT." Xehanort said.
"What do you know, my Whitley and Willow pieces were good for something." Eraqus grinned.
"I honestly doubt it did too much damage." Xehanort said. "He's gonna get out of the rubble and you will… fade away. What? My strongest player gets taken out just like that?"
"…Huh, neat!"
"Mmm, at least I still have my Salem piece. She's still my star player… and look at that, she has your players in a bind… wait, when did my Emerald piece switch?"
"Everything… I've lost. Every… PERSON I've lost… is because of you!"
"And who is it that I've taken from you, girl?"
"Summer Rose… my mom!"
"Hmph… her again."
"What will you do?" Xehanort smirked. "Can't really do much, can't they?"
"No… but I have a feeling your Hazel is gonna do something incredible." Eraqus said.
"No more Gretchens, boy."
"Aaaand he punches Salem's lights out!" Eraqus exclaimed.
"Not so fast. It's gonna take more than a betraying punch to take her down." Xehanort said, watching the two pieces fight, then noticed Eraqus moving his Oscar piece. "And where are you taking him?"
"Oh… might as well provide some back up. Just in case." Eraqus said.
"He's weak. He won't do much-"
Boom!
"-Damage."
"Ohohoho! So that's what he was hiding all this time!" Eraqus grinned.
"…So you mean to tell me… my Salem piece gets taken out for the rest of the game? At least the traitor went with her." Xehanort folded his arms, then glanced at his Cinder and Watts pieces. "…Now what are those two pieces doing?"
"I dunno… probably having a civilized chat or something."
"YOU pushed ahead and YOU lost it when all you had to do was your job! You think you're entitled to everything just because you suffered but suffering isn't enough! You can't just be strong, you have to be SMART. You can't just be deserving, you have to be WORTHY. But all that you have EVER been… IS A BLOODY MIGRAINE!"
"Mmmph…" Xehanort folded his arms. "So my Hound gets taken out early, Salem gets taken out early… so all that's left is… oh, you gotta be kidding me…" He stared at Ironwood. "THIS is the main antagonist of this game? Then what was the point of bringing a different Grimm and Salem into this!"
"Bad story telling?" Eraqus shrugged.
"Hmph. Well, he better impress me because I'm not so sure he's going to win this."
"Well hey, look at the bright side, at least my teams are together again! …And Qrow and Robyn are on the move. About time they got out of jail."
"Okay… I guess I'll move James and the Ace-Ops over here and- oh, Winter just punched Marrow and is now dragging him away."
"Wow, even your own chess pieces hate you." Eraqus teased. "…Why is that even a thing though…" He wondered as they saw the chess board glowing. "Ah! This must be the final phase of the game."
"Alright… looks like Emerald and JNR are fighting Ironwood… Winter joins him… wait, he gets taken out just like THAT?!" Xehanort said.
"And it looks like Marrow stopped his own team, giving Qrow and Robyn an easy victory." Eraqus grinned. "Ooooh, I am loving this game!"
"Rrrgh… my whole team is falling apart! Can I get another Hound?"
"Sorry, they only came with one piece."
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!"
"…Hold on. Who's this guy? Who's Ambrosius?" Eraqus wondered as they glanced at the Penny piece where it split into two. "Huh?! What's going on?"
"Who even designed this game?" Xehanort sweatdropped.
"Do hugs make you feel this warm?"
"Yes."
"Woooooow!"
"Okay, Penny's human now… portals are everywhere… and now we're in the final final phase…"
"Why are the Ace-Ops, Ironwood, Watts, Winter, Robyn and Qrow in tiny corners?!" Xehanort said. "I was having a huge lead in this game!" He glanced at his Cinder and Neo pieces. "You two better do something good or so help me…" He pushed them forward.
"Oh please, like they'd do anything good against- hang on, why is Ren, Emerald and Oscar not here with me? Oh well, they'll still stand a cha-" He watched Yang fall into the abyss. "…Uh… what?"
"YANG!"
Xehanort smirked. "Oh, now we're evening the odds." He said, watching Ruby and Neo clash, then Weiss and Cinder clashing while also seeing Qrow, Harriet, Winter and Ironwood clashing at their respective corners.
"Mmm… come on, Penny! You just became human for five minutes. Don't disappoint me!" Eraqus said, moving Penny in. "Come on, no whammies!" He exclaimed and then as the fight went on, he noticed Vine blowing up. "Uh… your Vine blew up."
"Huh?! How did… okay, what happened?" Xehanort raised an eyebrow.
"And down goes Neo." Eraqus smirked. "…And… Ruby… what?"
"You should have never threatened me." Cinder said and then smirked at Ruby. "And you… should have never been born."
"…Did I just witness friendly fire in a chess game?" Xehanort raised an eyebrow.
"Not so fast!" Eraqus said. "Penny and Blake comes to the rescue! Blake grabs Ruby aaaaaand… they fall to their deaths…" He sweatdropped. "Come on, Jaune! Weiss! Penny! You're my only hope against Cind-… WAIT, WHERE'S NORA?!"
"I wonder how well these three will do against Cinder. Seems like an even fight."
"Come on, Penny! You're the Winter Maiden! You just turned human for ten minutes! NO WHAMMIES! YOU GOT-"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"
Eraqus jawdropped and looked up at Xehanort who looked just as stunned. Both of them looked at each other, then back down at the game, and then back at each other. "WHAT WAS THE POINT OF TURNING HER HUMAN?!" Both of them yelled.
"Agh! This whole game is a trainwreck! First it started off so good in my favor, then you had some wins, but no… it starts falling apart the moment the Hound gets killed, then Salem goes down…" Xehanort pinched the bridge of his nose. "Welp… this couldn't get dumber, can it?"
"Apparently it can… because Winter is coming in and fighting Cinder." Eraqus said, watching the two clash… then they noticed a small explosion as Weiss fell into the abyss and Winter was too late to catch her. "Oh come on!" He complained as they watched Cinder fly away while Winter goes a different path… and Jaune falls into the void as well.
"…Did I just win out of pure BS, because I'm pretty sure I just won out of pure BS." Xehanort said.
Eraqus sighed. "Welp, that was dumb." He said and glanced at a piece reforming. "Oh, joy, Salem's back." He grumbled and glanced at Watts. "…Why is your Watts piece on fire?"
"Honestly… I'm not sure what's going on anymore." Xehanort said. "So uh… good game?"
"…How's about we start a new game? I've got a better one than this." Eraqus said, tossing the volume 8 chess board in the trash and pulling out a new one.
"What is it… Super… RWBY Sisters: The Chess Game?" Xehanort asked.
"I've heard a lot of people adore this game! You wanna play?"
"Sure, it might even be better than the last game."
Eraqus grinned, pulling out the top of the box. "Let's play!"
I was gonna do four skits, but the chess skit went on longer than I thought (Thank you for suggesting the skit idea, Jacob.) so I went "Ya know, I wouldn't mind if I did two skits this time... this chapter's getting kinda long."
