Chapter 164: Alvarez Empire Arc: Emotion

"Stop it." Zeref sneered at the whimpering Larcade. "I have no children. I have no family. You're nothing more than a demon born from my writings. Be gone from my sight." he glared, finishing off Larcade with a blast from his open palm.

"You took out your own friend..." Natsu growled.

"He's not my friend, nor is he my child." Zeref corrected.

"Yeah, I get it now." Natsu remarked, slamming an enraged flaming punch on Zeref. "A parent who doesn't care about their own kid is no parent at all."

On the streets of Magnolia...

Mavis knelt on the ground, feeling the effects of the 'Ars Magia' spell. This is the spell that melts the earth and vaporizes the blood of living beings. She realized. The ancient forbidden spell: 'Ars Magia'. "Can everyone hear me?" she used telepathy to send out her warning to the rest of the Fairy Tail Guild members. "This is an emergency. Convert all your magic power into defensive energy. Magnolia is about to be..."

"Her telepathy..." Happy noted, Mavis' message was suddenly cut off.

"I don't know what's going on, but this is bad." Gray winced.

Who could possibly have this much magic power? Mavis wondered, coughing out blood. That August mage? She spotting August in the distance. It stopped? She blinked when August stopped his spell, his body crumbling into pieces in the aftermath. He lacked the magic power to sustain 'Ars Magia'? It's all thanks to Gildarts. I have to hurry. She took off to Gray's direction.

"Shodai!" Gray caught up with Mavis.

"Is it just you?" Lucy asked.

"I'm so glad you found me." Mavis was relieved. "The others are fighting in the southern part of the town. I doubt many enemy soldiers remain."

"So, why did you call us here?" Gray inquired.

"This." Mavis brought out the Book of Zeref she had snitched. "Zeref captured me at one point. I took this when I escaped."

"The Book of E.N.D." Lucy gasped.

"It's Natsu's..." Happy trailed.

"So you did know, after all." Mavis remarked and handed the book to Lucy. "Natsu will surely defeat Zeref. And then, I will eliminate Zeref. Only one thing will be able to save Natsu then: the strength of his friends, you. Please, don't let anyone near the Guildhall until everything is over."

In the Fairy Tail Guildhall...

"I tried hard, too, you know." Zeref admitted. "I worked so hard to obtain happiness. But this body kills anyone it cares for. I was forbidden; forbidden to have family, forbidden to be happy. I was forbidden to have anything."

"You know that's not how families work." Natsu stormed up to Zeref. "It ain't about being allowed or not. Happiness is yours to make. That's what family's all about. If you insist that you don't have a family, then the tiny bond you do have left end here and now, nii-chan."

"I'm surprised." Zeref slapped Natsu's hand away. "I didn't even know our bond was still intact."

"Chalk it up to compassion." Natsu powered up.

"Indeed, Natsu." Zeref agreed. "No, E.N.D."

On the streets of Magnolia...

"I found it." Mavis hurried to the Guildhall after leaving the Book of E.N.D in Lucy's hands. "A way to defeat Zeref. This is our last-ditch bet."

Elsewhere...

Erza and Wendy ran face-to-face with the human form of Acnologia.

"Jellal?" Erza gaped when the blue-haired mage shielded them from Acnologia's attack with a hexagonal barrier.

"Heavenly Body magic." Jellal instantly went into attack mode. "Pleiades! Jiu Leixing!" he blasted Acnologia with his next attack after the black dragon dodged his first assault. "May the seven stars bring judgment upon you." he readied the 'Grand Chariot' spell. "Grand Chariot! He's..." he gaped as Acnologia swallowed the magic.

"Eating the spell?" even Erza was shocked.

"What magic type is he?" Wendy wondered.

"Magic type?" Acnologia echoed. "I have no magic type. I am the ultimate dragon. The dragon of demise and devourer of all sorcery. I am the arcane dragon, Acnologia." he morphed into his dragon form.

"It's up to me..." Wendy realized. "I'm a Dragon Slayer, it's up to me to..." she powered up Dragon Force and shot towards Acnologia.

"No, Wendy!" Erza barked.

Just then, Christina rammed into Acnologia before the black dragon could released his attack on Wendy.

"Erza, Wendy." Ichiya opened the magic bomber's door. "Get on, quickly. We're going to use this ship to distract him and draw him away from Magnolia. There's no time. Hurry. If we can lead Acnologia to a certain spot, we can actually beat him." he stated, as Christina took off. "Isn't that right?" he turned to face Anna.
