"Shades," Lucius said jokingly as Adriana came into his office wearing sunglasses. She shut the door behind her and then took them off.

"Drug dealer swung a pipe at my head," she told Lucius and he noticed the small cut on her eyebrow and the swelling beneath it. "Being the only vigilante in town right now has it's perks."

"The only vigilante right now?" Lucius asked. "So you think there may be a chance the city will accept the Batman again?"

"Well, they're going to have to," Adriana asked. "I can't do all of this by myself."

Lucius nodded. "You look tired."

"I am," she said and sat down. "I'm going to have to put makeup over this cut. Bruce is going to be pissed. Probably will go after the guy..but he's in custody now."

Lucius nodded in agreement.

"Have you spoken to Bruce today?" Adriana asked.

"I haven't spoken to Bruce in weeks," Lucius said. "Other than in passing and only when it's necessary for business subjects."

Adriana sighed. "He has to get over this...You two are friends."

"What Bruce knows is that, his worst enemy is under monitoring and supervision of my choosing," Lucius explained. "Bruce is the one who locked him underground alone. Bruce is the one who gave me the money to have him relocated and isolated in a prison I would design with guards and regular surveillance. And now all he knows is that I have evaded his questions about where the Joker is and what is going on with him...which by the way, everything is set up in the Dominican Republic. I should be able to schedule the flight in about 7 days. But Bruce..he is going off of what the knows. He would not care about it at all if the Joker hadn't forced you to work for him. He hates him for it."

Adriana nodded, hiding the sadness...only 7 more days.

"And I'm beginning to suspect he hates him even more for another reason," Lucius said.

"What reason is that?" Adriana asked.

"Have you considered..." Lucius began to ask carefully. "That somehow Bruce has found out that..well...that the Joker is Arsenio's father?"

Adriana sat up quickly in her chair.

"What?" she asked, hearing panic in her voice. "No! Now way...there's no way he could know about that at all. Why would you think he knows?"

"Something's changed in him," Lucius said. "I can't think of anything else."

"But how would he even find out?" Adriana asked, feeling afraid. "No one knows! Neither of us told him. Dr. Kapoor...he knows but...oh no-"

"I don't think Dr. Kapoor would do such a thing," Lucius said. "It would expose the fact that he is basically the main one harboring the Joker in the medical facility. He genuinely wants to help the Joker and telling Bruce anything about him would be useless."

"So, who then?" Adriana asked.

"Who else knows?" Lucius asked.

"Well...Damien," Adriana sighed. "Maybe he and Bruce crossed paths...maybe Damien mentioned it."

Adriana held her stomach, feeling nervous and sick.

"Maybe this is why Bruce has been acting so weird lately..." Adriana said. "He looks at me like he feels bad for me..and he almost never initiates sex anymore. I mean we have sex but it's like...I don't know...something's changed, you're right. I can't...I can't take this, Lucius. The thought of Bruce knowing and saying nothing. Maybe that's why he looks so sick..and skinny...he's lost his appetite because-"

"We don't know for sure that he knows anything," Lucius said. "I'm only suspicious."

"I have to ask Damien," Adriana said.

"Yes, you could do that," Lucius said.

"I will," Adriana told him. "Right now. I'll go and find him."

"Are you sure he's the only other person who knows?" Lucius asked.

Adriana tried to think, even though she was unbelievably nervous and shaken.

"Well..the team," she said. "The Joker's team... a few of them knew. But as far as I know, every one of them is dead now..except one."

"Who?"

"His name is Brake...well, Wyatt. And he's in prison.

"Strip club in the middle of the day," Adriana said, in Savannah's standing behind where Damien was tossing bills at a girl on the pole.

"Heyyy," one of the girls recognized Adriana even though she was wearing sunglasses and waved. Adriana smiled back.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in," Damien said. "Are you going to give us a dance?"

"I need to talk to you now," Adriana said.

"Ahh," Damien said optimistically.

He followed her over to an empty area with couches.

"What is it sweet cheeks?" he asked. "You finally tired of Wayne? Why are you wearing those sunglasses? Did he hit you again?"

"No," Adriana answered and blocked Damien's hand as he tried to remove them.

"Damn," he said and held his forearm. "What are you? A combat fighter now?"

"I need to ask you something serious," Adriana told him.

"You want me back?" he asked. "You know, I'm rich too. Thanks to Wayne."

"Yes," Adriana said. "We paid you good money to keep your mouth shut."

"And I have," he said.

"Even to Bruce?" Adriana asked.

"Wait..." Damien began to laugh. "Pretty boy doesn't know? All this time-"

"Did you say anything to him or not?"

"No!" Damien laughed. "Damn. That was risk. Getting me into your lawyer's offices and sign that agreement when I could have said what secret I was keeping. You must have nearly shit yourself, hoping I wouldn't mention that I know who your kid's father is."

"Keep your voice down," Adriana said. "So you haven't mentioned it to Bruce?"

"I haven't seen your husband since I signed those papers," Damien said. "You know, I didn't go looking for your secrets. I just have ambition."

Adriana glared at him, the glasses hiding her hatred.

"I knew once I got fired from the force, I would find the Joker," Damien said. "I would bring him in and become a household name. I questioned as many of his henchmen as I could find. You know one of them covered for you...ahh what was his name. Wyatt? Told me you were Asian to throw me off. The other one was more helpful. Gave me many locations of where the Joker stored things. I found the mask, and the rest is history."

"Mask?" Adriana asked.

"Costume mask," Damien said. "Of a court jester. You remember it don't you? There was a masquerade ball. One of my men saw you leaving the ball with a man in the exact same mask. I put the pieces together."

Adriana blinked and looked away.

"Still can't believe you did that," Damien said, raising his eyebrows, looking like he was imagining something ghastly in a horrifying daydream. "Letting the Joker bust it open."

Adriana crossed her arms, uncomfortable.

"But you know," Damien said, quickly snapping out of his imagination. "I still love you and I'd gladly take you back. The kid has to stay with Wayne though, no way am I taking the spawn of Satan. What happened? Did Wayne find out and file for divorce?"

"No," Adriana said firmly, resisting the urge to hit him and show him just how much of a fighter she was. "So you spoke to Wyatt."

"Yep," Damien said. "I guess that's where you're headed next?"

Adriana ignored his question and walked away.

"Always here when you're ready to come back, beautiful!" he shouted as she left.

Visiting hours were over but the prison staff was unbelievably obliging and helful to a wealthy, famous woman, famous for being married to a billionaire and who could afford a suitable bribe. The visitation room was completely empty and Adriana walked over to a table in the middle of the room behind a guard. Another guard led Wyatt, also called Brake into the room.

Wyatt looked at Adriana shocked. He couldn't believe that she was here. She was wearing dark sunglasses but immediately recognized her. The guard led him to the table where they both sat. The guards stood over him quietly.

"Would you mind giving us the room?" Adriana asked them.

"Ma'am.." one of the guard said. "This is a violent criminal, we can't-"

"Five grand more for you both," Adriana told them. They looked at each other and then agreed to leave, praying that nothing would happen to Mrs. Bruce Wayne under their watch.

"Wow," Brake said once the guards were gone. "Didn't think I'd see you ever again."

"Sorry I haven't been to visit.." Adriana said.

"No worries, ma," he told her. "It's not a good look, you coming here."

"I know," Adriana said. "How have you been?"

"Alive, can't complain," he said. "How bout you? You good?"

"Life's complicated, but I guess I can't complain much," Adriana said.

"What's up?" he asked and leaned forward. "You need something from me?"

"I'm afraid so...I just need to ask you something," Adriana said.

"What is it?" he asked kindly.

"Did you..happen to mention to anyone.." Adriana looked around, making sure they were still alone. "That I was...what I did with..I mean that I was involved with-"

"No," Brake said.

"Okay," Adriana sighed.

"Someone find out?" Brake asked.

"Possibly...my husband," Adriana told him.

"Damn.." Brake said. "You're married to Wayne right? Think I saw that in the news."

"Yes," Adriana said.

"You really came up. At least one of us made it out with a good life, " Brake said. "I didn't tell him. There was a dude here asking about you thought."

"Did he have dark hair? Grey eyes?" Adriana asked.

"Yes," Brake said. "I didn't tell him enough to know anything. He asked me about...you know who, being with a chick. I told him that it was true because he said he could get time off my sentence. But I never told him it was you. I lied and told him you were oriental."

"I know," Adriana nodded. "Thanks for keeping it quiet. He did still find out though..another way."

"Maybe he's the one that spoke to your man," Brake said.

"He says he didn't...he has no reason to lie," Adriana said. "He's always been a fucking liar though."

"Sorry about your man finding out," Brake said. "Or possibly finding out?"

"Yeah," Adriana shrugged.

"It's no big deal," Brake said. "Even if he does, he can buy that fake cop off..get him to keep quiet."

"I already have," Adriana said vaguely.

"So what's the worry?" Brake asked.

"It's complicated," Adriana said and looked down at her hands. "I have a son."

Brake smiled. "Damn, for real? Wow."

"Yes," Adriana said and pulled out her phone and showed him a picture.

"Oh..." Brake said and understood once he looked at the baby. He had seen the Joker countless times without makeup and had worked closely with him longer than anyone. He could see the resemblance. "He looks like his dad, but at the same time he's real cute. Confusing. Sorry-"

"I'm not offended. My husband knows my son isn't his, but he's adopted him as his own," Adriana said. "It's just so complicated if he knows..there's a lot I can't tell you but..I just don't know what to do if he knows."

"Ask him," Brake said and handed the phone back.

"I...just can't," Adriana said.

"Wish I had more advice for you, ma," Brake said. "Don't really know what to tell you."

"It's okay," Adriana said and put her phone away.

"They said he died," Brake said. "Jumped off a bridge."

Adriana nodded.

"You believe that?" Brake asked and Adriana didn't answer. "Yeah, me either. Hope he's well."
