A/N: This story comes from the combined influence of mashmaiden and glenncoco4. They wrote some of the dialogue and hopefully I did the idea justice and didn't steal their idea. Takes place after the episode where Deeks and Kensi are sleeping on the couch and he's using her butt/thigh as a pillow.
This one's a little all over the place as far as genre.
"I cannot believe you haven't seen "The Thing," Kensi said, shaking her head as she flipped through channels on her TV. Deeks pulled his legs up on the couch, frowning as she settled on one and ominous, vaguely 80's style music started playing.
"You know I'm not really a fan of horror," he reminded her.
"But this is a classic. And it has to be the original, not the one that came out a few years ago. The guy in that is a little iffy." She sounded so disappointed in him for not knowing about one of her favorites.
Instead of replying, he yawned hugely and rubbed at his eyes.
"Ooh, it looks like somebody could use some more "booty" sleep," she said, glancing at him expectantly. Deeks squinted at her.
"Is this leading into some cleverly disguised joke about my appearance?" he asked, anticipating yet another joke about his hair.
"No, I'm talking about "booty" sleep." She emphasized "booty" and he just shook his head, wondering why she was saying it so weird. In the past five or so you years, he'd come to understand a great many things about Kensi Marie Blye, but she still stumped him every now and then. "Oh come on! Booty sleep…you fell asleep on my ass the other night."
It suddenly dawned on him what she was talking about, but he just shrugged.
"Did I?"
"I can't believe you forgot," Kensi said.
"Mm, I guess it just wasn't that memorable," he said nonchalantly and her mouth dropped open. Shaking her head, she got her feet and began pacing furiously in front of the TV. He felt his lips twitching and fought to hold back a smirk.
"Not memorable? Do you know how hard I work to get this"–she gestured to her butt and Deeks happily followed the movement–"to look this good? And all you can say is that using it as a pillow wasn't memorable?"
He rubbed his chin, considering her butt, which was still conveniently on display.
"Maybe I need a repeat performance, just to double check," he suggested, flicking his eyes up to Kensi's, his voice dropping a pitch. Her eyes widened slightly, and she froze for a second, all the irritation leaving her body as suddenly as it had come.
"Oh. Well, I guess that can be arranged," she muttered, sitting back down. Deeks watched her, waiting for her to make the first move. After a moment, she laid down, pulling a pillow beneath her head and curling her legs up. He glanced at her butt, tightly encased in denim and swallowed harshly. "Just lay down," she snapped and he slowly sank down, lowering his head to her thigh, then shifting until it was cushioned on her butt like last time.
Only now there wasn't the barrier of a pillow between his head and her enticing curves. His breath caught in his throat as he cautiously slid his palm over her knees and settled on the curve of her hip. Kensi made a choked sound, but didn't move or stop him.
He glanced up at her and found her watching him, eyes wide and filled with anticipation. Holding her gaze, he carefully pressed a kiss to the side of her hip. Even though there was a layer of denim in between, he could still feel the heat emanating from her skin.
Kensi made another sound in the back of her throat, her eyes closing briefly. She reached out slowly and ran the backs of her fingers down his cheek.
Without warning, she sat up, dislodging Deeks' head. Not looking at him, she said in a quiet voice,
"I think we should watch the movie now."
Deeks nodded, not sure what to say and shifted over the other side of the couch. He sighed internally. It always seemed like they took one step forward and twenty back.
They didn't speak for the rest of the night, but in the morning they woke up again, somehow cuddled together in the middle of the couch.
A/N: I should specify that I haven't seen either versions of "The Thing".
