A tent. Weiss awoke from her cot the following morning to be reminded of that her and her team were in debt and had to start out from tents. Thankfully, they got all got their own tents. She loved Ruby like a sister, but she wanted her own place. What Team RWBY had discovered was this world had a game-like system allowing them access to a virtual inventory of sorts, even storing their money, keeping track of the date and time, and managing their equipment. Not that Weiss or the rest of the team complained. What Weiss did complain about was the cost of the tent.
"10,000 Bells for a tent. At least I don't have pay that…but 49,800 for a house. It better have some damn luxury in it." Weiss muttered.
The only reason Weiss did not openly complain was because of the people being rather sympathetic and understanding. The starter kit each member of Team RWBY got came with a small table, a lantern, the Tool Ring which meant easy access to their main tools, a shovel, an axe, a fishing rod, watering can, a slingshot, a basic umbrella in their color, a smartphone, citizenship documents, and a radio. They had been explained their uses. The four would be thankful that Kaiser, at the least, did not have them start off like he had, to he had the Nooks give RWBY standard quality gear. Sure, the durability was limited but it was much better than what he started with long ago. In addition, he shared his DIY Recipes to fight them a better fighting chance and gave them some of his old Mini DIY Workbenches. Weiss promised herself to pay him back for his kindness.
She got out of the tent with a yawn as her teammates all got out.
"Man, look at that sky. To think this is a place without Grimm…" Yang said relaxed.
"Yang, we're living in debt." Weiss whined as her stomach growled.
"Welcome to being poor." Blake said as Ruby shot out a balloon that carried a present with her slingshot.
"I got something!" Ruby said catching the box.
She tore it open to reveal 1,000 Bells much to the surprise of the others.
"At least, we can get some food." Ruby said wistful as the Bells vanished into her inventory. "So, what's the plan?"
"I'm going to chop some trees to gather some wood." Yang said producing her axe.
"Fishing, we need breakfast." Blake said getting her rod.
"I'll see if I can find some work." Weiss remarked.
"Then I can help…"
They all turned to see Robbie, the squirrely and sneaky one.
"Ladies, I have a job offer for you. Seeing you're from Remnant, I assume you can fight." Robbie said.
"Damn straight." Yang touted.
"One problem, our weapons need dust." Weiss remarked.
"That's not an issue at all. This world does have dust…" Robbie said producing a dust crystal. "Of a finer quality. So, if you need it, I can provide you ammo. Keep it secret from Kaiser, for now."
"Ok, what's the job?" Yang asked.
"I just need you to act as my entourage. I'm going out to sea to make a deal and I could use some muscle. Even if you're all kinda lacking in it." Robbie said as Yang pouted. "Pay's 3,000 Bells each."
They all agreed and found themselves on Robbie's boat leaving the island to a tiny islet a few miles away. Robbie stopped the boat before revealing a golden axe.
"Just in case." Robbie said as a yacht arrived.
On it was a familiar face.
"Roman?!" Ruby said shocking.
"If it isn't Red." Roman said as the yacht came up. "Nice to see you slumming it up in two universes."
"Two?" Ruby asked in confusion.
"Don't think about it too hard." Roman said as workers wheeled out the crates. "Robbie, the materials from XanTech you requested to sell for us among other things."
"Ah yeah, Romes. By the way, that place opened up yet?" Robbie asked.
"Yeah, it did. XanTech has found that little island off Vistage does host a gateway to a dungeon full of monsters and valuable raw materials. XanTech did take a cut of materials found, but we've set up a system for traveling from floor to floor." Roman said giving Robbie a folder and a capsule.
"Perfect. Yeah, Kaiser will be a bit mad of the underhanded deal and I'll have to pay him for it, but I'm going to make a mint." Robbie said excitedly.
"Oh, and one last thing. XanTech wishes to give RWBY here a gift, an act of mercy." Roman said as a crate was put in front of the team. "You may be able to get out of those tents. Of course, all the company ask in return is for you to take part in exploring that dungeon."
"Roman, I forgive you for being a criminal." Ruby said flatly. "Because you've made my day."
"Oh, the irony…poor stupid Red." Roman thought before clearing his throat.
"Anyway, we've leaving." Roman said waving goodbye. "See ya, Robbie."
Roman's yacht left as Robbie was ecstatic. He returned to the island paying Team RWBY along the way before going to Kaiser's office.
"Oh Kaiser!" Robbie said only to see he interrupted what was a romantic breakfast between Kaiser and Isabelle. "Oh…"
"Robbie, you better have a damn good reason for interrupting us. I was enjoying Isabelle's waffles." Kaiser said eyeing him.
"And I was in the middle of his bone-shape pancakes." Isabelle said before letting a cute belch.
"You two are just adorable." Ruby swooned.
"Remember that little island nearby? Mirage Islet. Well, call a town hall because I just made a massive discovery!" Robbie said slapping out the folder on his desk. "And yes, I will have a 200,000 Bells waiting for you by lunch. Just have the townfolk all gather at lunch at the Moonlit Café, I'll cover everyone's lunch."
"Ok, what the hell did you do?" Isabelle snapped worriedly. "You clearly did something!"
Isabelle was one not to swear most of the time, so this was unusual. Kaiser glared at him, but let it go for now. Team RWBY returned to their tents with their crate as they opened it. First thing inside a piece of paper explaining what was in it with basic instructions. Weiss dropped the paper and hauled her things out of the tent before punching the tent into the ground before, pulling the unladylike gesture of, spitting on it.
"Was that really needed?" Blake said.
"If I was a lesser person, I would have urinated on it." Weiss said before calmly folding the tent. "But I am not."
"It also came with clothes." Yang said.
Weiss hurriedly got her things out of their tents before taking them down Then she used the capsules to open up their capsule homes. The four half spherical homes appeared like white domes with each one sporting their emblems on the door. Each walked into their new home. The homes were rather sparse. They had a kitchen, a basic kitchen table, a few chairs, a bathroom, a living room, a small laundry room, a bedroom. Weiss dare not complain about the lack of a TV, she had an actual bed and a place to charge her phone. They came back out to the crate to look through the rest of the stuff. Toiletries, some clothes, their own laptops, and 20,000 Bells for them each.
"So, whoever packed this got us all bikinis?" Blake said taking hers up. "And they had to be all string?"
"Forget that, look at this shampoo! It's just like the ones I had to buy back home." Yang said excitedly.
They all took their items into their homes before going on for the way. Weiss strolled in right into Nook's Cranny and sold the tent and the cot.
"I now have my own residence without the need of you, so I'll just be paying off the money for the tent." Weiss said before smugly putting 10,000 on the counter. "I'll see you on the rest of your money later."
"Well, Miss Schnee. What happened?" Tom said as Timmy and Tommy looked on.
"Robbie freaking delivered." Weiss said putting her umbrella on the exchange. "Now I'd like to sell my old umbrella to buy a new one. The Hydrangea umbrella please."
"With the old one exchange, that'll be 592 Bells." Timmy said stunned as Weiss happily paid for it. "I'm surprised Robbie helped you out. He rarely does unless he ends up gaining from him. Be careful, he may call in a favor."
"Don't care. The house I live in has a soft bed, electricity, and built-in Wi-Fi. If the man wants something from me, I'll give it to him." Weiss said glowing. "Now I can really enjoy the day. Maybe I'll go swimming in my new bikini."
Tommy had a grin on his face as she left. The others would come by to sell their tents and cots while paying off the early bill. Sure, they still had the down payment to pay, but it got the Nooks curious.
-With Ruby-
She had changed out of clothes to something a bit more suitable for the warm weather. A red striped tank top, white shorts, a pair of sandals, and a sedge hat. She was out with her net to capture a few bugs. She did want something for her Bug Cage, and she hoped she would have enough time today for fishing to add to a Fish Tank.
"I miss Zwei…" She said feeling a bit saddened.
-With Weiss and Blake-
Weiss lay in the water in her new swimsuit just soaking in the sea savoring the slice of paradise she was in. She would never admit it out loud but she was not really missing Remnant. Or her mother and father all too much at all. No Grimm, a home of her own, and a community of laid-back people in a tight knit community. What more could a girl ask for? She turned to see Tommy watching her from the shore.
"He's eyeing me up." Weiss thought. "Well, I can't blame him too much. He's just watching."
Another thought came to mind however, an idea to use the net while swimming to catch fish. She at least wanted to make some money and have something to eat if she felt like seafood. Blake was on land trying her luck at fishing making a modest success. She had caught a Koi earlier in a nearby pond and decided to keep that one in a Fish Tank in her home. She called it Ada.
"Ok, it's been nothing but clownfish, come on. Let's see…" Blake said reeling her in.
She got a bikini top. Weiss's bikini top. Tommy fell over with blood coming down his nose, and Weiss had to swim back and snatch her top back.
"Weiss, I…" *SLAP*
Weiss slapped her with a Red Snapper before storming off blushing bright red. Tommy got up and promptly gave Blake 100 Bells as thanks. Blake took the money, but not before slapping Tommy with the fish.
"Worth it." He said with a grin despite the fishy bruise on his face.
-With Yang-
Yang was in the midst of breaking rocks with an axe. She wanted to gather raw materials for crafting, and she was hoping to get enough for an air conditioner.
"What's up, girl?" Zoey said coming up.
"Hey, Zoey. Isn't it kinda weird to be on an island with few humans on it?" She asked her.
"Not really. This world isn't majority anthro and little humans. It's more even, but there are people like me…like Kaiser who opted to move away from those mostly human cities to these places. Kaiser did it to find his fortune, and me and his friends just followed after him. You'll find you'll like life here." Zoey said earnestly.
"That sounds nice, but…how do I ask about it…" Yang said trying to find the words. "So, let's a human and an anthro…"
"Then it's a hybrid. They basically look like your friend with the cat ears." Zoey said as Yang breathed a sigh of relief. "Or are you curious about a certain villager?"
Yang blushed at that. It's not that she did, but she was more just wanting to know how the intimacy between the two sides goes. But now poor Yang's thoughts turned lewd, and her cheeks reddened. Zoey happily skipped away. Yang decided to hit the bar, she needed a strawberry sunrise.
[Later at Lunch]
With everyone gathered at the café having lunch on Robbie's dime (nobody went crazy out of concern), Robbie made his grand announcement. Kaiser got up and had some choice words.
"So, you been dealing with this XanTech company? Let them about the islet to study it without checking in with me, first! Robbie, what the h-" Kaiser said.
"Did I mention XanTech has payment for you?" Robbie said pushing a crate in front of him. "On behalf of the company."
Kaiser opened it to see sacks of Bells. SO MUCH BELLS. Kaiser looked up at Robbie.
"Ok, so Mirage Islet has a system of dungeons with raw materials and monsters within. You already got the means for a bridge to the isle. That's all fine, but how are the townsfolk going to defend ourselves?" Kaiser said using his 'System' collect all those Bells.
"Weapons!" Robbie said revealing he had a cache of them for sale. "I got FusionFall Era weapons, weapons from Smash, weapons from that GTA universe. XanTech's made me their dealer for this isle. And I can provide."
"Robbie selling guns? Well…shit." Alex said as Alexa shook her hand.
"Ok, ok, we can deal with this. But you need a license to get a firearm. No ifs, ands, or buts." Isabelle affirmed. "And there will a tax of 20 Bells every 3 months. Flat rate."
"And I want an Adventurer's Guild formed before anyone goes in there. Understood, Robbie? I want this legalized as much as possible." Kaiser affirmed. "2 Million Bells isn't going to have me stop from reining you in in, Robbie."
"Yes sir." Robbie said.
(A/N: Yes, that Roman is the same Roman that Velvet mentioned in the GTA story. Let's just say XanTech's influence is multi-dimensional. As for the Animal Crossing series, it'll be a bit looser than the GTA one. The game is meant to relax after all. The Nookling seems to have a crush on Weiss…should it be explored? Speaking of relationships, I want to see what you think. Who in Team RWBY would you pair off with an anthro? Let me know because I'm not doing WR or BB as I want to keep the sisterhood dynamic.)
