January 10

Inuyasha had gone out to get something from Miroku this afternoon so I was home with Moroha. She was asleep for a while but when she woke up I fed and changed her and then read her a story. I know she doesn't understand yet, but I think it's good to start reading to her while she's young.

By the time I was done with the story, I started to wonder where Inuyasha was. He had been gone an awfully long time and I was hoping he was okay.

"Oh well, daddy will be home soon," I said to Moroha. I tickled her foot and she giggled. "You like that, huh? You're such a cutie, Moroha." I tickled her again and spent the next few minutes playing with her and cuddling with her until Inuyasha came home. "You're finally home," I said happily. "What took you so long?"

"There were demons in the village," he replied as he put his tetsusaiga in its stand.

"Really? What kind of demons?"

"Some weird crow demon." He sat down next to us. "Came out of nowhere. It was pretty vicious. It took a lot to take it down."

I kissed him. "I'm glad you're okay. We missed you."

"I missed you too," he said before kissing me back. I handed Moroha to him and he hugged her and kissed her. There was a big smile on her face, she had missed her daddy a lot. "My sweet little girl."

She closed her eyes and started to drift off to sleep. I gently ran my fingers across her soft, rosy cheek. "Nothing like falling asleep in daddy's arms."

Inuyasha kissed her again then he put his other arm over my shoulders. "I'm glad you two were home safely and didn't need to see everything that went down."

"Even if we were, I know you'd protect us."

"Of course I would. I promised I'd protect you with my life and I always will, Moroha too. Both of you are the most important things in the world to me and I would do anything for you."

"Same here, Yasha. I love you more than anything."

His lips found mine for a passionate kiss then we both looked down at Moroha who was now fast asleep.

"I keep thinking about how I never knew my father and how I always kind of wondered what it would be like if I had grown up with him."

"Really?"

"After we saw his spirit in the inu yokai temple, it made me wish even more that I had gotten to know him at least a little bit. I spent so much time being angry at him for not being around but now that we have Moroha, I can't be anymore."

"Why's that?" I said sympathetically.

"I know what it's like now to have a wife and child that I would do anything to protect. Even if it meant laying down my life for you I would and I would do it a thousand times over."

"Yasha." I hugged him a little bit closer. "I couldn't be more grateful to have you as my husband. That really means a lot to me."

"But even still, I want to be there for Moroha. I don't want her to grow up without me with no memories of me, questioning what life would have been like otherwise or whether I ever really loved her. I want to be there for every special moment for her and to teach her everything she needs to know."

"That's what any parents would want. We don't know what the future holds but we can do everything we can to be there for her and make sure she has the best childhood we could possibly give her."

"That's what I want for her. I want our little girl to know me and know how much I care about her. I promise I'll do everything I can to be around for her."

"And I know she'll be so grateful and will love you with everything she can." I kissed him again. "You're an amazing father, Yasha."

The smile I love so much spread across his face. "Only because you're a wonderful mother, Kagome. I couldn't do it without you."
