Emerald Sustrai came from nothing, she lived on the backwater desert planet. She scrapped to survive. So, when she was given a chance to be more than a mere thief and become a Sith…she took it. There was one problem…that she would slowly realize as she grew up. Her Mistress, Cinder Fall, literally was the worst possible teacher. The more she learned about the Dark Side…the more she realized Cinder could barely qualify as a Sith.

The Sith philosophy calls for one to dominate the force to your will as Cinder claimed, she neglected to give the part that you have to acknowledge the force is stronger than you so the challenge to conquer it gives you the power you truly need to draw on the dark side.

Cinder could not even show her how to make a lightsaber. Even Emerald, who while was not the most educated on the desert planet, know that the lightsaber is something of utmost importance. No, she realized Cinder wanted her as a glorified housekeeper for the spaceship. Even then, it was all half-assed. Education, lessons in learning to be a sith, and even just being a housekeeper…all half-assed lessons that Emerald was forced to pick up the slack on. Over the years, she learned a bit about Cinder.

Cinder claimed to be a Palpatine. Emerald had a feeling that was a bullshit claim, but Cinder did have some skill in the force….to where one could argue she was force adept. Emerald was sure she was on.

For someone who claimed she be a Sith Lord, Cinder just did not match up to the mindset of the Sith. She was far too obsessed with using her family ties to intimidate everyone and using her…force powers which to a younger Emerald, it scared her…but to an older one just did not impress her.

"Emerald, get in here!" Cinder roared from her 'throne room'.

Emerald groaned closing the room on history she was reading to get to Cinder. What she found was a dead woman and a crying child with Cinder cackling holding the lightsaber.

"What the fuck is this shit?" Emerald said.

"Well, I was out on the dumpster you call home and I realized that you need to do the test. All these years training you, and you were too stupid to not tell me that you never made the 'sacrifice'. To truly accept the dark side, you must have the will to kill. So, I orphaned this child for you…to kill her. Spare her the misery of being like what you once were." Cinder said with a sneer. "And maybe you'll join the dark side."

The little girl in question looked completely terrified…the blood of her mother still on her face. Tears streamed down her face before Cinder kicked her into the ground.

"You're getting tears and blood on the carpet!" Cinder said angrily. "Emerald, hurry this up."

"Isn't the woman going to be missed?" Emerald asked inwardly seething with anger.

"Single parent who was made her money in the company of others….no one will miss her." Cinder remarked.

"I miss her." The girl said weakly only to be kicked by Cinder.

Emerald looked at the girl looking into her tear soaked eyes and up at Cinder.

"So, this is going to put me in the way of the Dark Side, right?" Emerald asked as Cinder asked. "Okay."

Emerald produced her lightsaber, a lime one with a black core. The young orphan looked at Emerald expecting death to come. She closed her eyes, heard a swipe of the saber, but felt nothing. Nikki was ready to join her mother in death, but she opened her eyes to see Emerald struck Cinder instead.

"Nyaah….what are you doing? How dare you turn on your master? Do you not want to join the Dark Side?" Cinder said clutching her wound as she scrambled to reach her lightsaber.

"No, I've decided to join the Light Side, and to do that…" Emerald said sternly. "I can purge myself of any link I have to the Dark Side. You."

Cinder spent her last moments realizing she created a Light Side Sith…before Emerald beheaded her. Another of the Palpatine bloodline…lost to the empty reaches of space. Emerald retracted her saber and went over to Nikki.

"Thank you…" She said looking to her mother.

"I'll help you bury her." Emerald said respectfully.

Sure, it was an unmarked grave in the desert sands with a small gravestone, but it was the most Emerald could do.

"What do you intend to do now?" Nikki said as they walked away from the grave.

"I don't really know. Killing Cinder at the least leaves me with a ship, supplies, and money…but no direction. I need training to better my abilities. And…I'm not sure how." Emerald remarked before looking at Nikki. "And you?"

"Well, I can't do what my mom does for a living to support? My mom said if I wanted to…I had to wait under puberty makes me a beautiful flower." Nikki said awkwardly. "And I don't have any family."

"I'll take you in. I was an orphan too on this dumpster of a planet. Jakku sucks and if I can do something to help someone else like me, then so be it." Emerald said taking her hand. "So, let's ditch this desert."

As Emerald took command the ship, flying away from the planet…she looked to Nikki and sensed something that shocked her. Nikki was 'strong in the Force'…like her. That got Emerald to scowl at the fact that Cinder was not only going to kill an innocent, but a Force Sensitive innocent. Not like Cinder knew Emerald was one which was ironic given Cinder claimed to be one. An idea came…

"Nikki. I'd like to make you my student. I was not trained the best, but I hope to be a better teacher than mine was. I don't think I can teach you how to be a Sith…or hell a Jedi. But I can show you how to use the force and make your own lightsaber." Emerald said as Nikki lit up.

"Can it be red?" Nikki asked.

"Sure." Emerald said ruffling her hair.

The emptiness of space never looked more hopeful.

(A/N: Ain't Cinder a stinker? Yes, I did reference the NT. I'm not the biggest SW fan, but I do respect the series greatly. This was an idea I discussed with The Hapless Ace, and I came to a bit of realization that I may have to cancel Remnant? The Sith Solution. As much I do want to continue it, I don't feel it's all that good. I will make a wrap-up finale chapter to the miniseries showing the ending at least.)

[Update Note: By the end you have read this, I've updated several chapters to fix errors and grammar: Snippets 147, 167, 169, 170, 186, and 193-195 have been re-edited. [Which covers RtSS, a few one shots, and the Isekai pilots] I apologize that I let 9 chapters stay sloppy for so long. I will continue to ensure this doesn't happen…or at least this bad.]
