Midvale-2009

Kara and Nyxly toured the town at night and noticed the younger versions of Alex, Kara, and Kenny. "What year is this?" Kara asked confused.

"Two-thousand nine," Nyxly said to her.

"Kenny was killed a few years before this," Kara pointed out.

"This a version of events where you actually gave a shit about Kenny and the rule of law. The three of you got Sheriff Ronald Collins arrested for drug trafficking before Kenny's murder," Nyxly said.

"What's the point?" Kara asked.

"You'll see," Nyxly smiled.

The two ghosted their way inside a diner and watched their conversation. "With its small-town charm and non-existent crime, Midvale is quickly becoming a top place to live in the country. Well, that's certainly bullshit," younger Alex said as she read a newspaper.

"Face it, Alex. Once you left, this town has been been on the upswing," younger Kara smirked.

"Oh, snap, burn!" Kenny said obnoxiously.

"Tone it down, will ya?" Kara scolded him.

"Drinks are ready. I'll be right back," Kenny said exiting the scene.

"So...why are you putting off your trip to Europe?" Kara asked knowingly.

"And you haven't told mom you decided not to go to MU," Alex pointed out.

"I've decided to go to Midvale college with Kenny. We may even share a dorm together," Kara said putting priorities in order.

"So, you're not going to tell him that you're giving up your hopes and dreams to be with him?" Alex assumed.

"He's on a need-to-know basis," Kara explained.

Kenny came back with three ice cream sundaes for them. Kara tasted hers and realized there was no alcohol in it. "Kenny, what the fuck? Where's the vodka?"

"Kara, we're underage," Kenny reminded her.

Kara gave him a blank look of annoyance and frustration. She then noticed a meteorite about to hit the town. "You know what? I've assessed the situation and I'm leaving," Kara said getting up.

"Wait...what?" Kenny asked confused.

"Are you about to use your powers? You promised you would stop doing that once I left," Alex scolded.

"Your naivety amuses me," Kara grinned.

"It's more than that, Kara. You're also responsible for all the propaganda about this town. Dozens of teens and adults are dead under suspicious circumstances. Every other week, you put a metahuman six feet under," Alex said. "You're also putting Kenny in danger. What happens if Kenny gets himself killed?"

"I'll shout, 'You bastard, you killed Kenny!'," Kara chuckled.

"That's sick," Alex scolded.

"I think it's kind of funny," Kenny said morbidly.

"Look, I'll stop using my powers...after I investigate a meteorite crash at the baseball field," Kara said. "I'm just going to fly over there and check it out."

"No, you're not going to fly. I'm driving," Alex relented.

"Okay, but after I drink this down," Kara said and then proceeded to slowly drink it.

"Come on," Alex said taking them both outside.

Older Kara and Nyxly watched as they all headed out. "You use your powers as leverage to get Alex to go along with your schemes," Nyxly noted.

"Well, duh," Kara said obviously.

"In this reality, Kenny is your boyfriend. You'll be taking him to the prom," Nyxly said.

"I wish I gave a shit," Kara rolled her eyes.

"I don't think you fully appreciate the gift I am bestowing on you. This isn't just a vision. If you wish, I can make this your new reality," Nyxly enticed.

"And why the fuck would I trade Mon-El and my kids for Kenny?" Kara wondered.

"Your family doesn't fulfill you. That is why you have fallen into this depression. Perhaps, Kenny can give you the happiness you desire, that you deserve," Nyxly said.

"Alright, I'll bite," Kara agreed. "But first, I need a drink."

Kara materialized into the real world and was noticed by the waiter. "Tell me you can get me a White Russian," she said to the waiter. He merely nodded. There was a long awkward silence. "Get me one, stat!" Kara snapped.

"Yes, ma'am," the waiter said running off.

"Tick-tock," Kara said pointing to her watch.

At the baseball field, the Vindicator cruiser materialized. Brainiac 5 and Nura exited the ship and looked around. "You sure this is a good idea?" Nura asked apprehensively.

"It is critical you know more about Supergirl's past history," Brainiac 5 said. "And the human tradition of prom."

Nura sensed the cold air. "Well, I guess climate change was real," she remarked.

"Indeed, by the end of the century, it will be an environmental catastrophe," Brainiac 5 predicted.

"Speak for yourself, I like the tropical weather," Nura said unconcernedly.

Young Alex, Kara, and Kenny came upon them and their ship. "Did you two just come out of that spaceship?" Kara asked and then scanned them both with her X-ray vision.

"Yes," Brainiac 5 replied.

"So, who the fuck are you?" Kara demanded.

"I am Barney and this is my associate, Nura. We are from the future," Brainiac 5 said nonchalantly.

"Why are you dressed like that?" Kenny asked referring to their vindicator uniforms.

"These are formal Vindicator uniforms," Nura explained.

"We need to get the fuck out of here," Alex said spooked.

"Wait...why? They're from the future. Do you have any idea how much money we could make on the stock market?" Kara asked her.

"You need to stop drawing attention to yourself. You endanger everyone around you," Alex scolded.

"And I'm okay with that," Kara said unconcernedly.

"And what about you, Kenny? Are you okay with that?" Alex asked.

"Sure, this is awesome," Kenny said brightly.

"And what about me?" Alex pointed out.

"I didn't ask you to come back here from Stanford," Kara rolled her eyes.

"To be fair, they don't seem hostile," Kenny said.

"Kenny, they're wearing military uniforms. You have no idea what powers they may have," Alex told him off.

Kara led the group over to Brainiac 5 and Nura. "I'm Kara Zor-El, this is Kenny, and this is Alex," Kara introduced.

"We know who you are," Brainiac 5 replied.

"So...how can I help you?" Kara asked condescendingly.

"We're here to witness prom," Brainiac 5 said seriously.

"Is that...all?" Kara asked incredulously. "You went through time and space to witness prom in this God-forsaken town?" Kara asked incredulously.

"Yes," Brainiac 5 replied.

"Well, okay then," Kara said unconvinced. "The police are on their way, FYI."

Brainiac 5 glanced at the ship and cloaked it. "Nice," Kara said impressed. "You should stay with us."

"Mom will never let a boy stay the night," Alex said of Brainiac 5.

"He can stay the night with me," Kenny said enthusiastically.

"I know that wasn't supposed to sound sexual, but...," Kara scolded him.

In space, a Kree battleship went into orbit around Earth. Its commander, Ronin, was blue-skinned, bald, and had a deep baritone voice. He wore ceremonial black armor and black make-up under his eyes. At his side were two Female Furies loaned to him by Darkseid: Barda and Grail. A Kree minion came forth to give his report. "There are actually two Kryptonians on this planet, a male and a female."

"I promised Darkseid I would retrieve the Kryptonian for him. Only then will he destroy Xandar for me," Ronin reminded them all.

"Sire, the male is too much for us," the minion said pathetically.

"Grail, retrieve the female for me. I will deal with the male, personally," Ronin ordered.

"It will be my honor," Grail said eagerly.

"It will be your doom," Barda said knowingly. "If you fail again, you will be facing Darkseid without his prize," she reminded Ronin.

"I am a daughter of Darkseid, just like you," Grail pointed out.

"But I know Earth," Barda argued.

"Ronin has already decreed...," Grail shot back.

"Do not speak for me," Ronin shut her down. Ronin then towered above Barda as he got close to her. "You will not fail."

"Have I ever?" Barda questioned.

As soon as he entered Kenny's room, Brainiac 5 connected finger cables into his computer and began downloading the entire Internet. "I've never met an alien aside from Kara. Do you always dress this way?" Kenny asked.

"In the future, everyone wears uniforms to go to work," Brainiac 5 said as he multi-tasked.

Kenny's mom then entered the room suddenly. "Mom, I can explain!" Kenny said as to why there was a man in his bedroom. However, upon looking around, he realized Brainiac 5 was gone.

"Explain where you were," his tiger mom demanded.

"I was at a study session with Kara," Kenny excused himself.

"You spend too much time with that white girl. You read books, study, do homework," Kenny's mom ordered.

"I will," Kenny promised.

"No dinner until you are done," Kenny's mom told him and then left the room.

Older Kara and Nyxly watched the scene from the side of the room undetected by either Brainiac 5 or Kenny. "Superb guilt trip taking me here to see Kenny's family," Kara complimented.

"You could have saved him," Nyxly said to her.

"Coulda, woulda, shoulda," Kara said callously. "But then I would have become someone so naive as to allow an alien she just met into her own house."

"You value your maturity and experience over Kenny's life?" Nyxly questioned.

"Well, when you say it like that, it makes me sound like a bitch," Kara said peeved.

Younger Kara watched Nura like a hawk as she made her bed in the same upstairs room at her house. "So, what's a Naltorian doing on Earth? Did Naltor blow up, too?" Kara asked insensitively.

"I was a diplomatic trainee when I got embroiled in a Human/Mimic war. After the war, I realized my talents were more valued on Earth than on Naltor. On Earth, no one cares about my family history. No one judges you for it," Nura explained.

"What's so controversial about your family?" Kara asked.

"A thousand years ago which would be roughly this time, one of my ancestors was a transwoman. My elders, teachers, and peers made sure I never forgot it," Nura said bitterly.

"Are you here to correct that mistake?" Kara asked.

"If I did, I wouldn't be a war hero and a Vindicator. Sometimes, bad things end up being beneficial in the long run. No, I'm not here to change the choices people make. I'm just here to understand those choices," Nura said

"I get it," Kara nodded.

"My ancestor proved that Dreamer powers could be inherited by males. It was revolutionary. I think the matriarchy is more resentful of that than the fact that she was trans," Nura said.

"So, what can you do?" Kara asked curiously.

"I can conjure bubbles, cables, and beams of energy while also seeing the future in my dreams," Nura said. "I am the most powerful Naltorian in our history."

"Oh, really? Show me," Kara challenged.

Nura created an energy bubble on her hand and then slowly increased its size until Kara could fit inside it. Alex suddenly came in and noticed what was happening. "What the fuck is this?" she demanded.

"Showing off," Kara said obviously as Nura's bubble disappeared.

"Neither of you can be doing that shit tomorrow," Alex scolded. "After prom, we part ways," she said to Nura.

"Damn, could you try to be any less friendly," Kara said unimpressed.

"We'll be gone as soon as prom is over," Nura assured her.

"Thank you...get some sleep," Alex said flustered, and then left the room. Alex gave Nura one last look and then exited.

"I think she likes you," Kara said to Nura.

"Is that why she's treating me like shit?" Nura figured.

"Yep. And I don't blame her. You look great with your blond hair and blue eyes," Kara said adoringly. "And you have this adorable foreign accent."

"If you want, we can speak Kryptonian. My universal translator can help me understand," Nura suggested.

The two of them talked long into the night speaking in Kryptonian about everything Kara had gone through the last few years. As they talked, older Kara and Nyxly watched them. "Had Kenny lived, events would have gone differently. Alex would have come out that year and then started dating her best friend, Vicki," Nyxly said.

"You know, it's weird hearing Kryptonian after all these years. It's almost like it's my second language instead of my first," Kara said.

"You really don't give a shit about what you've done to fuck people over, do you?" Nyxly chided.

"I don't dwell on the past," Kara said dismissively.

"But you can change the past with my help," Nyxly reminded her.

"Let's just see where this goes," Kara said uncommitted.

The next morning, Nura woke with a start. "Holy shit!" she exclaimed.

"Nura, your dress," Kara said as she dropped it on her bed. Alex also came into the room with her.

"Is it go time?" Nura wondered.

"Yeah, let's go," Alex ordered.

At Midvale Highl, Brainiac 5 began downloading files from every computer in the computer lab. "No one should bother you so long as the lights are off," Kenny said helpfully.

"I appreciate your concern," Brainiac 5 said dismissively.

"You must go on so many cool adventures in the future," Kenny said enviously.

"So cool, man," Brainiac 5 agreed.

"It's what I'd like to do. To go around with Kara helping people. She and I are staying local for college to get better at it," Kenny said as Brainiac 5 disassembled computers and printers. "In fact, we're going to have our very own base."

"A base?" Brainiac 5 questioned.

"Yeah, like her cousin's Fortress of Solitude. Kara says her base will be bigger and better," Kenny said. "I'm a bit of an architect, so I have the plans all laid out. I really hope she likes it."

"Of course, she will. There's nothing women like more than physics well applied," Brainiac 5 assured him.

"With Kara, I feel like I can do anything," Kenny said.

"I recommend being your own man, not an appendage," Brainiac 5 advised.

"Well, I got to get going to class. You going to be okay in here?" Kenny asked.

"I'll be fine," Brainiac 5 said as he continued to reassemble computer parts with several cables extending from his fingertips.

"Well, okay then," Kenny said as he left.

Alex, Kara, and Nura went over to the Midvale natural history museum to check out some rocks. As it happened, they ran into Lex Luthor in his mid-twenties, still bald and wearing a suit. "Enjoying the museum, ladies?" he smiled at them.

"A lot more than the students that almost got crushed by a loose column last week," Alex mocked.

"Oh, it's you," Lex realized frowning. "That has nothing to do with Luthor Corp. A subsidiary construction company was at fault for that."

"Already bored," Alex said dismissively.

"I heard a rumor that someone with super-powers was responsible for putting the column back into place saving me an awful lot of money in insurance claims," Lex said.

"The fact is, there's nothing special about this town and that includes you, Lex," Alex told him off.

"A pleasure as always, Miss Danvers," Lex smiled condescendingly and then eyed Kara and Nura. "Enjoy your visit," he said and then walked off.

Older Kara and Nyxly watched the scene from afar. "If you had kept Kenny alive, Lex Luthor wouldn't have been killed by his clone. He would have remained a shady but still decent businessman. He would have eventually inherited Luthor Corp. and made his own way as the Man of Tomorrow," Nyxly said.

Kara walked up to a frozen image of Lex. "Wouldn't you do anything to keep him alive?" Nyxly asked her. "To save all of the victims of his clone? Victims like Kal-El?"

Kara wiped away a tear. "You know, you're making a really good pitch. Keep it coming."

Brainiac 5 exited the computer lab after he was done tearing it apart and then eyed the snack machine. He casually smacked the window shattering it and then took whatever snack he wanted. "I saw that," the drama teacher said.

"I can't explain," Brainiac 5 replied.

"You're going to join the Glee club or I will write you up," the drama teacher threatened.

"Well, okay then," Brainiac 5 agreed.

Later that day, Brainiac 5 tried out for the baseball team. He easily hit a home run to the amazement of the coach and players. "Barney, what the hell?" Kenny asked upon finding him.

"What up, my dude?" Brainiac 5 asked walking up to him.

"I've been searching everywhere for you. Where have you been?" Kenny asked. "I thought we were keeping a low profile."

"Key events sidelined that goal. I left the computer lab in search of sustenance and immediately got conscripted by a Glee club teacher but then I got drafted by the math league and the baseball team who is desperately in need of a switch-hit," Brainiac 5 explained.

"Wow, that is a lot of exposure," Kenny said alarmed.

"And given my status, a risky venture but necessary so as to avoid unwanted attention or detention. Tell me, are you familiar with the emotion of stress? Because you seem to be exhibiting it now," Brainiac 5 asked.

"I am feeling it now," Kenny admitted.

"I have been struggling with the emotion. You see, I don't feel anything," Brainiac 5 said.

"That's great and all but if Alex sees you, she's going to flip," Kenny said anxiously.

"Allow me to tell you a little secret I've learned over the years. Alex is irrelevant to the equation," Brainiac 5 told him.

"Damn, that's cold," Kenny said stunned.

"You will also feel the same freedom once you realize this truth as well," Brainiac 5 advised. "But I shall leave with you once I hit another line drive," he said as went back to the plate.

Alex drove an SUV around town with Kara and Nura in the back. "So...did Mr. Luthor ask about me?" Kara asked hopefully.

"No, your secret remains safe from that arrogant backstabbing corporate suit," Alex said.

"Keep your eyes on the road," Nura advised as Alex nearly hit a tanker truck.

"Holy shit!" Alex realized.

"How did you do that?" Alex asked amazed.

"I can see the future when the plot demands it," Nura explained. "FYI, that truck doesn't have a driver."

"That truck is full of fuel," Alex said alarmed, and then drove after it. "We'll never catch up to that truck."

"Maybe you should go above the speed limit," Kara mocked. "You know what? I got this."

"Kara, no!" Alex shouted at her.

Kara ignored her and flew over to the truck. She opened the door and got in. Nura also got out, sprung energy cables onto the truck, and then pulled herself over. Kara slammed on the brakes without result. In the distance was an oblivious school bus with its driver working on the engine. "Well...shit," Kara realized.

Nura sprung out cables through both windows that attached to nearby trees. The cables took hold of the trees and stretched as they tried to slow the truck down. The trees eventually snapped creating a line of destroyed trees. "Well, I tried," Nura shrugged.

Kara blasted the tires with frost breath, stopping the truck. "You know, I wish there was something a little more exciting than runaway trucks in this town. Just something to spice things up," Kara said to Nura.

Brainiac 5 then dropped in, still in his baseball uniform. "Looks like you have been having fun," Nura noted. Brainiac 5 looked up at the sky and noticed a ship using a cloaking device with his eyes. "There's a ship here."

The ship then retreated away once they realized they had been discovered. "They're gone now," Brainiac 5 reported.

At the house, Kara and Alex got into an argument. "I'm telling mom," Alex threatened.

"So, what was I supposed to do? Let all those school kids die?" Kara asked.

"Maybe," Alex frowned.

"That's fucked up. You're fucked up," Kara accused.

"Those future heroes can handle it," Alex pointed out.

"They're on vacation. They can't be relied upon," Kara said obviously.

"Has it ever occurred to you that your powers are a negative feedback loop? Strength invites challenge," Alex argued.

"It has. I just don't give a shit," Kara rolled her eyes.

"You endanger mom's job with these antics of yours," Alex said. "So, tell me, Kara, how would you fix that?"

"I don't know. Rob a bank," Kara said not taking her seriously.

"I've been to college. I know the real world," Alex said arrogantly.

"Go ahead and tell mom. See if I give a shit but before you do, you should consider what I know about your European trip mom doesn't know about. Let's just say, it has very little to do with tourism," Kara mocked.

"Don't you dare! What Vicki and I have is special," Alex said horrified.

"Sounds like I have a ridiculous amount of leverage against you," Kara said smugly.

"You bitch," Alex spat.

"Yeah, you don't get to preach to me about recklessness," Kara mocked.

"You know what? I'll give up the European trip if it means keeping an eye on you," Alex said sacrificially.

"Wait...what?" Kara thought she misheard.

"You heard me. Mom is all I have left, and I'll be damned if you put her life or career in jeopardy," Alex said.

Kara gave her mock applause. "You're such a saint, preventing a superhero from saving kids."

"Maybe if you had more life experience, you would understand," Alex said.

"Bitch, you're only one year older than me in real-time, but I've been to dozens of solar systems. I graduated from your poor excuse of an education when I was four. The Earth's smartest human is no more a challenge to me than its smartest termite," Kara taunted.

"If you're so mature, why haven't you told Kenny about MU?" Alex asked.

"Never confuse apathy with inability," Kara said obviously.

"You're a total psychopath," Alex accused.

"You know what? I don't have to take this. I'm going to leave," Kara said walking out of the garage.

On the Vindicator cruiser, Brainiac 5 and Nura looked over the data they had collected on the cloaked ship. "How did you account for baseballs hitting the ship?" Nura asked curiously.

"I had it moved before baseball practice," Brainiac 5 said dismissively. "Our attacker is a surveillance Kree ship. We must tread carefully or else Earth will face a Kree invasion force."

"Let them come. We can kick their ass," Nura said confidently.

"If this planet is destroyed in this timeline, we have no future. I will never come to Earth and you will be stuck on Naltor," Brainiac 5 pointed out.

"Well...shit," Nura realized.

"Get some sleep. Maybe you'll dream something useful," Brainiac 5 ordered.

Older Kara phased into the real world and went to a hotel bar. "Vodka martini, shaken, not stirred," she ordered.

"Coming right up," the bartender said.

Kara took a sip and smiled. "This is the good shit."

"You're welcome," the bartender smiled. "So, you out of town?"

"I actually used to live here when I was a teen. Now, I'm a big-shot journalist in Metropolis," Kara smiled at him.

"Great," the bartender humored her. "I am an amateur photographer. Want to go to my darkroom?

"Too strong," Kara told him off.

"Sorry," the bartender said sheepishly.

"If you had the chance to change your past to fix everything that went wrong, would you do it?" Kara asked conversationally.

"When you mess with the space/time continuum, things get fucked up every time. People are constantly coming in here telling me how fucked up their lives are. But, they fail to realize that is how you grow as a person," the bartender said.

"I'm kind of a big deal. If I change my past one way or another, some people live and some people die," Kara told him.

"What I tell all my patrons is that what they're experiencing right now is in the past. The present is them drunk as fuck in their hotel room. So, this conversation we're having right now is actually in the past. You're not here to make the choice but to understand the choice," the bartender said.

"I'm going to need a little more time understanding why I need another vodka martini," Kara smiled.

Young Kara and Kenny walked through the woods to have a little chat. "You know I have powers like my cousin, but you're probably not aware that I'm also a genius. My mental ability is roughly four to five times that of humans. The only thing more intelligent than me is a super-computer," Kara said.

"Wow, so why do you always get Cs," Kenny asked confused.

"I simply don't apply myself. I could get a perfect SAT score and go anywhere I want. I applied to MU for the hell of it and got in," Kara said.

"So, why are you going with me to Midvale College?" Kenny asked confused.

"Because when you have all this power and intelligence, the only thing that's empty is companionship. I don't want to be alone," Kara told him.

"Well, that puts a heavy responsibility on me," Kenny realized.

"How's that?" Kara asked.

"I'm depriving the world of a super-smart superhero that will save lives and make life better for everyone," Kenny said.

"It's not you making the decision to not do shit. It's me making the decision to not do shit," Kara told him.

"Well, okay then," Kenny smiled and then gave her a kiss.

Brainiac 5 and Nura were hanging out in downtown Midvale when Nura got a sudden vision. "We're going to be attacked soon," she said nonchalantly.

"It is what it is," Brainiac 5 said unconcernedly.

"I'm going to a jewelry store," Nura said walking off. She entered the store and eyed all the gems and diamonds. "I will trade you this ring for cash," Nura said referring to her Vindicator ring.

"Let's give it a look, shall we," the store owner said as he looked over the ring.

"That's Californium 252, not gold," Nura told him.

"I see...," the clerk said unconvinced.

"So, it should be somewhere close to 100 million dollars, I think," Nura assumed.

"Let me call corporate," the clerk said.

Nura spent a good hour going back and forth before they finally told her no to her conditions. Nura exited the jewelry store pissed off. "We had a deal, fucker!" Nura shouted as she exited. A woman with black hair wearing a black jacket and pants was eating an apple just outside the store. "What happened?"

"This guy backed out on a deal on me," Nura explained. "If there is one thing I hate, it's a man without integrity. Nura Nall, people call me Dreamer."

"You have the bearing of a woman with honor," Barda noted.

"Well, I wouldn't say that. People say that about me all the time. It's not something I would say about myself," Nura said with false modesty.

The two smiled at each other until Nura got a flash-vision of Barda's intentions. Nura gave her a good kick to the gut and then ran off towards Brainiac 5. Barda quickly recovered and threw ropes around Nura's feet dropping her. Barda leaped to attack her only to get kicked away. Nura quickly got out of the ropes around her ankles. On the ground, the two alien females punched and kicked at each other. Barda got the upper hand and raised her staff above her head for a killer swing.

"This wasn't the plan," she admitted and then swung down.

Brainiac 5 suddenly punched Barda off of Nura and wrapped her up with cables extending from his hands. Barda screamed in rage as she snapped the cables around her arms and smacked Brainiac 5 a good distance away. She then ran after Nura throwing a knife at her leg. Nura fell to the ground and immediately took the knife out of her leg. Barda got on top of Nura placing her legs on her shoulders to pin her to the ground.

"Fool, no one can outrun a Fury," Barda told her.

"I don't need to outrun you," Nura said as she hit Barda with an energy blast. Barda flew off of Nura and fell into a fountain. Nura regrouped with Brainiac 5 near the fountain. Barda emerged from the water pissed off.

"You've got to be kidding me," Nura shook her head.

Barda extended a sword blade from her staff and sliced at them both. Nura created a shield around herself to deflect the hits. Barda sliced off Brainiac 5's arms and then sliced him in half at the waist. Nura blasted Barda to the chest stunning her. At this point, Barda felt she needed to retreat. Brainiac 5 quickly reconnected his torso and then his arms. He unholstered a pistol that reassembled into a rifle. Taking careful aim, he fired on Barda shocking her.

"Writhe, bitch," Nura smiled amused.

Suddenly, Midvale police officers were on the spot in full force. Brainiac 5 dropped his rifle and put his hands up. Nura did as well. "So...is this going to change the future?" Nura asked as a few hundred Midvale residents gawked at them.

"Maybe," Brainiac 5 replied.

Author's Notes: CW Brainiac 5 does have some funny lines but he's still DAF. It amuses me that they hint at Nia's mother and Eliza but can't put them on screen due to casting reasons. At this point, CW Brainiac 5 is a parody of his comic counterpart. Young Alex is obnoxious and giving Kara the Jonathon Kent lecture. Finally, young Kara put young Alex in her place. It amuses me that despite Crisis, young Alex is still oblivious to her own sexuality. Kara can easily stop a moving truck by ramming it as she did in Season 1x01. None of this matters anyway as Kara and Alex have their pre-Crisis memories and not their post-Crisis memories. As for needing Kara's DNA, just get a forensics team to scan her apartment. When the entire plot reveals around incompetence compounding incompetence, you lose viewers.

So, Midvale Season 3 was one of my favorite episodes of this show and the writers just retconned it away. That actually pisses me off. Shows shouldn't be about retconning all events to create happy endings but to show character growth. Kenny's death was a wake-up call to Alex and Kara during their teenage years. It was the event that spurred my Midvale fic and now CW has taken a giant dump on it. Rest assured, things will be as they should be by the end of the next episode. Nura replaced Nia as a bridge to the previous episode.
