A/N: Random little drabble thing.

"What the hell happened to you?" Sam asked as Deeks walked into the mission, a bloodied towel held against his lower face. There was more blood splattered down his shirt. Kensi had one hand resting on his back, obvious concern on her face.

"Did you insult Kensi's cooking again?" Callen guessed. Kensi made a disgusted sound and said,

"No." Her tone was acerbic as she helped Deeks into his chair. Deeks gestured for her to continue and she explained, "Deeks got punched while we were interviewing people along the beach."

"Because you flirted with a witness just a little too much," Sam finished with a knowing nod.

"No!" Deeks said hotly, his words a little slurred and distorted. "It was a complete misunderstanding and not my fault at all."

He lifted the towel, revealing his swollen and blood stained lower lip. Callen whistled, looking impressed.

"Deeks is right, it wasn't his fault," Kensi confirmed.

"Fine, then what happened?"

"I was speaking with a young woman, in a very appropriate, gentlemanly way," Deeks began, giving them all a sanctimonious look. "She was very helpful and I told her to call me if she thought of anything else. When I gave her my card, this guy started shouting, tackled me and started punching me in the face."

"Turns out he was the woman's boyfriend and thought Deeks was hitting on her," Kensi finished.

"Unbelievable. You can't even go out in public without causing a scene."

"I did not cause a scene, Sam." Deeks pressed the towel back to his lip. "The guy who tackled me–while shouting about how he was sick of his girlfriend picking up hot surfers–made a scene."

"That proves it, Deeks, you're just too attractive for your own good," Callen teased.

"Yeah, he doesn't need more compliments, his head is already big enough as it is," Kensi told him.

"Hey, I got punched today. You're supposed to be nice to me," Deeks complained.

"At least this time you didn't get pepper sprayed," Callen pointed out helpfully.
