Coin Runners Deluxe Rematch: Boom Boom vs. Pom Pom
(A/N: This episode is dedicated to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Happy 4th anniversary.)
It's a beautiful day for a battle at Battle Stadium where Boom Boom and Pom Pom are enjoying the sights of the stadium. He said, "I can't believe we're in Battle Stadium from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and I love the statues of Mario and Bowser."
"Me too," Pom Pom replied, "You know, this year marks four years of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and remember our very first Coin Runners match we did back in episode 183?"
"Yeah! That match was amazing and I won by a single coin."
"I know, buddy. It was a very close battle indeed. Say, do you want to have a rematch right here at Battle Stadium to honor this occasion?"
"Sure! Let's do it right here... RIGHT NOW!"
With that, the crowd erupted in cheers as they heard Boom Boom's call.
Pom Pom smiled and said, "Great! To the Pipe Frame!"
Boom Boom and Pom Pom ran to their Pipe Frame as they prepare for the rematch.
When they got there, Boom Boom said, "Well buddy, this is it. Our first rematch and this time, it will be even better than our first match."
"I know, Boom Boom," Pom Pom replied as they entered their karts, "I can't wait for this battle and the crowd is ready for action. Now then, who'll be the referee?"
"That will be me," I said as I entered the stadium with a smile.
Everyone saw me as they cheered for my appearance.
"Hey guys," I said to them, "What are you doing here?"
"We're going to have a rematch, breath20k," Boom Boom replied with a smile, "And we need a referee for this amazing showdown."
I looked at him and said, "Well, you came to the right person because this year marks four years of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and this stadium is perfect for this battle. So, are you ready to have some fun collecting coins?"
"You bet!" Pom Pom and Boom Boom replied with a smile.
"Great! Now you know how the game works, right?"
"Of course we know the rules, breath20k, " Boom Boom said, "Let's do this."
"Very well, then. Now before we begin, I have a very special surprise for the both of you. Because this is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's fourth anniversary, we're going to put four minutes on the clock for this special occasion! Scoreboard, would you like to do the honors?"
The scoreboard agreed with me as the screen shows the coin count for both players along with the four-minute timer. With that, the battle is all set.
I smiled at them and said, "Okay! Now that everything is all set, we can start the match! Boom Boom and Pom Pom... ARE YOU READY?"
"Ready," Boom Boom and Pom Pom replied at the same time.
"All right, then! The battle will begin at the green light! Good luck to the both of you and have fun. So without further ado..."
I took out the signal light, came to them and then, I made the official announcement.
"LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!"
With the words shouted, I pressed the green button as Boom Boom and Pom Pom turned their attention at the lights with the first one shining red. It all comes down to this: The start of the rematch.

1...
Boom Boom and Pom Pom smiled at each other, waited for the right moment and then...
It is time.
GO!
With the light turned green, Boom Boom and Pom Pom took off at the same time as they collected their first coin in the process. With that, the rematch is now officially underway.
"And we are underway, ladies and gentlemen," I said to the crowd, "Boom Boom and Pom Pom have collected their first coin as we begin this rematch here at Battle Stadium. They had their very first match 53 episodes ago but now, they're back again to honor four years of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This is going to be an awesome game, folks!"
Boom Boom and Pom Pom are enjoying the excitement as they collect coins while using items to take them away.
After two minutes of battling, I said, "We're halfway through this rematch and the score is tied at 10 at this moment. Looks like these two players know how to play this game very well! Right, guys?"
The crowd agreed with me as they cheered for them very loudly.
It was a battle for them as Boom Boom and Pom Pom kept on going. Coins, items, you name it."
Just then, the Final Lap fanfare was heard all across the stadium as the timer shows the final minute of the battle. Everyone is gearing up for the final part as the battle raged on.
After another thirty seconds, the timer changed to yellow. I looked at it and said, "Thirty seconds left!"
Boom Boom and Pom Pom kept on fighting as more coins came in to the stadium with only a few seconds left.
"Twenty seconds! Get ready for the final countdown, guys!"
The crowd agreed as they joined me in the final countdown with the timer flashing red. It all comes down to this, the final ten seconds.
"10..."
"9..."
"8..."
"7..."
"6..."
"5..."
"4..."
"3..."
"2..."
"1..."
BUZZ!
The final buzzer went off as the timer finally hits zero, signaling the end of the match. I heard that sound and then...
It's official.
"FINISH!"
With the word shouted, the crowd erupted in big cheers as Boom Boom and Pom Pom finished the match with a lot of coins.
I came to them and said, "That was an amazing battle, guys!"
"Thanks, breath20k," Boom Boom and Pom Pom replied with a smile.
"You did an amazing job and for that, I congratulate the both of you for a great match. Now before we announce the results, is there anything you would like to say to honor four years of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?"
"Yeah," Boom Boom said with a smile, "I would like to say that this game is all about racing and battling and no matter what happens in the race, just have fun and enjoy. I would like to thank the entire Mario Kart 8 Deluxe staff for making this game possible and of course, my thanks go to you, the fans. We hope you'll enjoy the racing action with Mario and his friends for another year. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I salute you on your fourth birthday. Race on!"
The crowd cheered for Boom Boom as he delivered his speech.
I agreed with him and said, "You said it, Boom Boom. Four years and still racing. Happy anniversary, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Well guys, this is it! The coins have been counted and on this scoreboard is the final results. Both of you did a great job in this match and no matter what happens here win or lose, you'll have fun. Ready?"
"You bet," Boom Boom and Pom Pom replied at the same time.
"All right, then! Here we go! Drum roll, please."
With that, the drum roll began as Boom Boom and Pom Pom turned their attention at the giant scoreboard. I looked at the board and said, "After an exciting battle, the final score of this game's Coin Runners on a very special fourth anniversary of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is..."
Boom Boom and Pom Pom held on to each other as the scoreboard adds up the number of coins collected. The entire stadium is waiting patiently as the drum roll grew louder. It all comes down to this: The final results.
After a few seconds of waiting, the scoreboard has made its decision. Everyone looked at the board, took a deep breath and then...
BANG!
The final score has been revealed to them. I smiled at the results and then, I made the announcement.
"Thirty to twenty-nine! That means... POM POM IS THE WINNER!"
It's official. Pom Pom has won the game by a single coin as the scoreboard shows that Pom Pom scored thirty coins while Boom Boom has twenty-nine. Pom Pom jumped for joy as the entire stadium cheered for her victory.
"Good game, Pom Pom," Boom Boom said with a smile.
"Same to you, Boom Boom," Pom Pom replied as they shook hands for good sportsmanship, "I'm so happy that I won this match and after all, we did a great job today. Say, do you want to play some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?"
"You bet, Pom Pom!" Boom Boom agreed with a smile.
"Count me in," I added, "I love a friendly competition and after all, it is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's fourth birthday."
"All right, then! To Bowser's Castle."
And so, the three of us ran to Bowser's Castle for a great game of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
