Chapter 240
.
Poseidon kept his word and introduced Elizabeth and the others to Ren and his crew. Ren didn't seem to have much of a crew. There was Tula, am ecomancer who could control elements to a certain degree, Ioz, a former pirate, and a monkey-bird creature named Niddler who could talk. Not a large crew, but they had fought Bloth before, and knew his strengths and weaknesses.
.
Ren: Bloth controls the 13 treasure of Rule, that's how he controls the dark water.
Han: Even Poseidon is afraid of dark water. If we touch it we die right?
Ren: Yes. But Bloth also uses it to tempt people. A princess for one, suppossedly it grants her eternal youth, but it's addictive.
Han: And Bloth hates you right?
Ren: Yes.
Han: So how do we get close enough to Bloth to stop him?
Ren: Bloth keeps his crew in line through fear. I know things, a way to hopefully get them to turn on him. But make no mistake, some will remain loyal out of fear or greed. A battle is unavoidable.
Han: I never avoided a battle if the odds were 50/50 or better. Besides, Poseidon promised to use his influence to get us out if we're sent to the Lake of fire.
Ren: Are you sure he can or will keep his word?
Han: No, but it's the best we can do.
.
Ren took his new friends with him on the Wraitin to find Bloth's ship the Maelstrom. Bloth seemed happy that his old enemies had found him, he summoned the dark water to seperate the two ships. Bloth could have wiped them all out, but he couldn't resist taunting them a bit longer. He brought his bride, Cray, to share the experience with him. Konk, a loyal lieutenant, was also invited to shere this revenge.
.
Bloth: You have at last come to die by my hand. This will be a joy I shall savor, and remember forever.
Ren: I'm suprised Jargis here is on your side. Jargis, you guarded my father for decades, you let your guard down for only a moment, and Bloth rewarded your service by feeding you to his creature.
Han: You know when I was a pirate, we ran things democratically. A captain could be deposed by a simple popular vote. He couldn't take too much treasure for themselves or murder their crew for no reason.
Ren: And Cray, are you certain that Bly will not betray you? He knows you loved me once, when I am gone, what is to stop him from murdering you in my place?
.
Bloth's crew began to think that Ren was right. Bloth controlled the 13 treasures of rule, but he couldn't keep his guard up every second. Perhaps Ren's words were simply the last straw. There was a mutiny. Only a few mutineers, but Ren and the other heroes came to fight Bloth as well. Konk saved Bloth, temporarily. Cray also attacked Bloth, but he threw her into the dark water. Ren and Bloth fought one last time, one last epic sword fight. Like most of the tyrants in Hell, Bloth knew his time was limited. Now he just wanted to kill Ren before he died. But Ren won this battle and knocked Bloth, and his precious treasures into the dark water. The dark water dissipated immediately. With Bloth dead, and the dark water seemingly destroyed, his few remaining followers surrendered. Ren encouraged the mutineers to show mercy, to begin making amends for their own sins. Han wondered if Poseidon had wanted those treasures for himself, to control dark water and expand his own power. No doubt he would view this as an acceptable alternative, and they had fulfilled their end of the bargain. Hopefully, he would tell them where to find Jacen.
