As the spell Davina used to protect and strengthen Marcel worked, the vampire rose to his feet, astonishing Katie, who looked briefly shocked as Marcel bellowed, "Here to save your man, little girl? Well, come on!"

Marcel growled as he moved to rush Katie, but she halted him with another wave of magic - in the attic, Davina also collapsed - and raised a stake over her head.

"Die, you son of a bitch!" Katie snarled angrily.

Theirry groaned out in pain, "No! Katie, don't!"

But before Katie could kill Marcel, Klaus appeared and wrenched her head to the side, killing her easily. Her magic stopped immediately, and the vampires all stopped groaning, as Klaus carelessly dropped her body to the ground.

In Lafayette cemetery, Sophie jolted as Katie's magic stopped, the locator spell for Elijah stopping along with it. The witch frowned, looking around in confusion.

"Something's wrong. Katie's magic stopped. But I can keep going," Sophie told Rebekah, who was standing beside her.

"You cant. She'll sense it," the original disagreed quickly.

"No. I can find Davina. I just need another moment," Sophie retorted, gasping as Rebekah stepped foward and grabbed the map of New Orleans and ripped it away from Sophie, disrupting the spell completely.

Sophie looked up at Rebekah, stunned an upset as the vampire snapped, "You may be willing to die to get your witch back, but Holly and the baby will die with you. Elijah will never forgive us, and rescuing him will be for nothing. It's over. We failed."

After successfully compelling Camille into giving Marcel another chance and procuring confirmation that Marcel would return Elijah to he and his family, Klaus strode happily into the plantation house to see Rebekah absently tapping keys on the piano, looking dour.

She sighed, "Well, tonight was an epic failure,"

Klaus hummed noncommittally, "On the contrary, sister. Tonight was a masterpiece.

Rebekah glared, "Are you mad? Katie died before Sophie could complete the spell!"

"Oh, I'm well aware. I killed Katie," Klaus said idly.

"Youwhat?" Rebekah demanded.

"There's no way our little suicide witch wasn't gonna try and take out Marcel with her. I saved his life, and in doing so, I now have him exactly where I want him," Klaus explained smugly.

Rebekah scoffed, "Sophie trusted you.Itrusted you! Againstallmy better instincts,"

Klaus glared in offence, "Wake up, Rebekah-- the witches are on no one's side but their own. This girl, Davina? That's all they want, and when they have her, what do you think happens then, a truce? Of course not. They will use Davina's power against all of us,"

"Even if you're right, the plan was to find Elijah, and you've failed us."

"You always did lack faith." Klaus declared. "By protecting Marcel, I've cemented his trust, so much so that he's agreed to return Elijah to us. And when the time is right, when he has told me everything I need to know about Davina, I will have her for myself,"

"I have all the faith in the world that you'll get what you want, Nik. You always do, no matter what is costs the rest of us.You disgust me," she whispered coldly, picking up her bourbon and downing it before slamming the glass down and striding from the room.

Holly sighed in frustration as her searches came up with no results, her fingers tapping away at the computer almost relentlessly. She paused her internet search and glanced over at the few large tomes she had spread out and open around her. She looked up when she sensed Klaus and smiled.

"I thought you might like to know that Elijah is returning to us," Klaus told her, blinking in slight shock at the smile he had received, and was reminded why he had been drawn to her in the first place. She was utterly gorgeous, with her emerald eyes and bright red hair.

"Congratulations. I guess being diabolical has its perks," Holly said in amusement.

"You hardly know him, and yet you miss him. What is it about my brother that always inspires such instant admiration?" Klaus asked, shocked to find himself slightly jealous at the thought.

Holly tilted her head and shrugged, "He was kind to me. I haven't had a lot of kindness these past years,"

"Perhaps you'll tell me what happened to you, love," Klaus murmured.

"Perhaps," Hattie agreed.

There are moments when I doubt my family is capable of redemption...

Klaus smiled slightly and turned to leave, but Holly's voice gives him pause. "Hey, I learned something today. I think it's a girl," she said with a smile. Klaus' paused before leaving the room.

Yet each time that I am tempted to surrender, I see it, the glimmer of goodness that allows me to believe.

Flashback

Sabine smiled,"I think it's a girl." The crystal started to swing in the other direction, and she frowned"No... wait,"

Holly frowned, "Wait, what? Please tell me I'm not having twins,"

The crystal suddenly glowed with a bright light, which caused Sabine to drop it. All of a sudden, her eyes rolled back in her head, and she began to chant in a low voice.

"Hoc est infantima malom. Nos omnia perdituel eam." Sabine muttered lowly, her head thrown back and entire body trembling.

flashback end

Holly frowned at the computer, choosing another language and sighing. Nothing. Why couldn't she translate what Sabine had said? What had she said? Whatever it had been, it most likely did not bode well.

For anyone.
