Orca

Shachi spat blood onto the ground and glared up at the bulky waste of spaces surrounding him. Being picked on was not fun, especially when he knew he was - supposedly - bait for the rest of his crew. Well, specifically Law, because Law was the only Heart Pirate anyone who wasn't a Heart Pirate ever seemed to care about.

Every single one of them was at least twice his size. He was outnumbered and both sides knew it.

"Where's your hero now, when you need them the most?" one jeered, and Shachi made sure the next spit sprayed that one's boot with blood. "I don't see them."

Hero? What hero?

Shachi wondered if there was a case of mistaken identity going on here, because he'd never met these goons before, he certainly didn't need - or want - a hero, and anyone calling Law a hero had never met his captain.

"Hero?" he mocked, straightening his back and looking the speaker straight in the eye. "You think I'm some damsel in distress that needs a hero to come sweep me off my feet?"

"Tough words for a brat who ran to Mumma last time we came around," the goon retorted.

Definitely a case of mistaken identity. Still, at least that was less insulting then being accused of needing a hero to save him.

He grinned. His shachi grin, Penguin called it. The others didn't get the joke, but that was what happened when every island had a different name for the apex predator in North Blue. Orca, he'd heard Law call them. For some reason, neither he nor Penguin had ever considered teaching their nakama Swallow Island's name for them.

He wondered what they'd say if they knew what he was named for.

"Ran to Mumma?" he quoted, shifting his weight oh so slightly. "My Mumma died fifteen years ago."

The ripple that ran through the group was palpable. The realisation that they'd got the wrong guy.

The realisation that their assumption of predator and prey was completely the wrong way around.

They tried to run.

Well, Shachi had a namesake to live up to, didn't he?

None of them made it more than ten paces.

Another tumblr prompt, this time "Where's your hero now when you need them the most? I don't see them." Only a short little thing, but it's an idea I might revisit at a later date because I maybe kinda love orca, and Shachi being named for them has potential.
