Chapter 261

December 2024

The secretaries of state for all 50 states officially confirmed that president Odonnell won the electoral votes of each state. This unfortunately made Patricia Turner's followers more vocal, more aggressive. They clung to whatever insane conspiracy story justified this belief. Turner still refused to concede, instead she told her followers to "Fight like hell." In this month there was another confrontation. The state assembly for Virginia had passed a law earlier in the year to remove all confederate statues from state land. Many of these statues were sold to private groups and individuals. But the far right hated this move, they wanted to revere the people who'd fought to keep african americans enslaved. Thus they planned to protest as these statues were removed. There were counter protestors, the police tried to keep the two groups seperate. But one SBA member took a rifle and fired upon the counter protestors, killing three and wounding at least six others. That night president Odonnell held a press conference. He said he could not comment on the specifics of an ongoing criminal investigation, but he took this opportunity to denounce hate and extremism. He urged all americans to not take the law into their own hands, to not fall into hatred or violence. Patricia Turner defended the protestors, claiming they were merely defending their heritage against communists. The fact that they were revering those who had fought against America seemed lost on SBA members, they still claimed that confederate monuments were part of their american heritage. This sadly was not the only violent protest.
.
A police officer was being charged with the murder of a suspected alien refugee. Once again the president urged calm, that they should leave it to the courts to decide the officer's guilt or innocence. But the SBA came to protest in support of the cop. They claimed that anyone who said he was guilty was automatically a cop hater. They soon attacked those who supported the deceased refugee.
.
Three teenage girls were arrested for allegedly raping and murdering a young girl. The evidence against them was circumstansial at best, some felt that they were being railroaded for being gay. This once again brought protestors who supported the defendants, and those willing to believe the worst about three young lesbians. SBA members seemed to be willing to hate LGBT people, and attacked those who supported these girls.
.
The violence seemed to only increase as January 6th approached. On this day Congress was scheduled to officially count the electoral votes and officially declare that president Odonnell would remain president for another four years. But the SBA still refused to concede. They urged their followers to come to D.C. on January 6th and "Fight like hell." The D.C. National Guard was on full alert. The possibility of the vote going smoothly was getting more and more remote with each passing hour.
