Opening File: Sticks the Badger

Accordingly, Sticks ended up in the wilderness at an early age where she lived alone for a long time, the isolation leading to the development of her quirky personality. Sticks is energetic, free-spirited, and primal. She has sharp animal instincts, is a fearsome combatant, a tenacious hunter, and will enter a feral frenzy when she is angry. Because of her isolated life, Sticks has become off-kilted, obtuse, mental and just plain nutty, and she thinks others are living in an alternate world different from the normal one, something that unnerves friends and enemies alike. While Sticks recognizes that she is a kook, she does not like having herself and her ideas written off as crazy by default (as she often turns out to be right).

In spite of her background, Sticks is intelligent, especially when in her right element, though her manner of speaking comes off as strange to other people as she speaks in a primitive dialect she taught herself. Also, there is a definite method in much of her madness, and her hair-brained ideas can sometimes be strokes of brilliance that lead to solutions that no one else could have thought of. Due to living in the jungle, Sticks has no concept of formal behavior, a fact she is aware of and worries will embarrass her in fancy situations. She is also disgusted by anything cute, adorable and fuzzy.

While not quite a tomboy, Sticks is far from feminine and has no understanding of this concept. Sticks usually considers technology her enemy because it 'can't be trusted.' Regardless of her standpoints however, she is willing to compromise her principles for the right reasons. Sticks' social skills need plenty of work.

She always speaks her mind, even if it comes across as socially uncalibrated, and her wildness sometimes gets her into trouble during social situations. Sticks is not the most trusting individual and is full of outrageous suspicions and paranoia (though her instinctive skepticism often turns out to be quite accurate). She is very superstitious and senses danger and conspiracies everywhere, which leaves her in a state of constant stress. She also exhibits personality traits based on various conspiracy theorist stereotypes, in that she suspects the government of being behind a lot of shady activities, including mind-controlling the public, and often thinks about toppling it.

As such, she has equipment prepared for even the oddest situations. Sticks is also one who believes in speaking the truth, and cannot stand the real stories being withheld. Despite her dislike of lies, however, she is not a snitch. While the concepts of sharing, compassion, and friendship are foreign to her, Sticks has a good heart and a genuine desire to get closer to people she considers friends.

Perhaps most noticeably, she is unwilling to rat out her friends, even when they do something she does not disagree with, although she expects them to come clean in the end. However, her loyalty also means that she feels very hurt when her friends do not trust her enough her when she needs them to.

Have you ever reached a point where you just think that life has a funny way making you question the choices you've made? Well that's what I'm experiencing right now, along with a ton of other stuff none of it pleasant.

For years I fought, worked hard, and sacrificed to make a better world that's why I joined Satyra a better world for everyone not just Faunus and Mobian but everyone especially my girls.

At least that's the way it was supposed to be, because remember when I said life has a funny of way of making you questioning? Well what I forgot to mention is that life has got the most sadistic twisted sense of humor.

Case in point I'm chained and gagged with my own daughters standing over me.

Nyx snapped her fingers and the wall behind her burned away in a blaze of purple fire. When it was cleared away, Tambry saw another woman in a cage like her, chained up and gagged as well. "…Mom?"

It was indeed Lana Kane.

Nearby Pericles who had been keeping watch on Lana flew over to his mistress and landed on her shoulder.

"Oh, so you remember her." Nyx said as she stood up and approached the other cage twirling her knife in between her fingers while looking down at the captive Lana, with Pericles wearing a dark smile while perched on his mistress shoulder. "I'll admit to feeling a bit torn here after all on one hand your abandonment ultimately cost my weak mortal self her freedom. But on the other since everything can be traced back to you than that means I have to thank you, because if you hadn't dumped me and Tam's here in this town I might not have become the fabulous Lady of Chaos I am today."

One now holding a the knife, the other my youngest now somehow turned into this and apparently somehow no longer human, with that twisted bastard avian on her shoulder, having given her sister the knife telling her to take the chance to avenge while making her hate clear.

Nyx tapped the knife against her cheek with a dark smile forming. "However it occurs to me that it just wouldn't be fair or appropriate if I'm the one to kill you. After all lack the extent of hatred and resentment my weaker self had for you, so it'd be more like settling a debt with someone you barely know."

Nyx dramatically gestured and called out. "Tambry Kane come on down."

Suddenly Tambry was lifted with purple energy and went zooming over to Nyx and stopped before her and Lana.

Nyx dropped her knife into the shocked Tambry's hands. "Go ahead. Take our revenge out on the woman who bore and abandoned us. You know you want to."

"Wha-what?!" Tambry gaped.

"You know her; you know what she's done to us." Nyx's long hair twirled around Tambry. "How many nights did you spend cursing her, especially on birthdays she couldn't be bothered to come to or even send a lousy gift? How much did it really anger you enough that you swore the moment you saw you'd tell her take her 'saving the world' cause and shove it up her…well, since I am the little sister I think I'll let you recall what you said. So tell me, big sis…"

Nyx leaned and whispered into Tambry's ear. "How much do you want to avenge us?"

Yeaaaah, if this isn't a situation that makes you look back at your life and question how it came to this, than nothing is.

Mitimotu
Right After the Golden Castle Crises

Princess Lanaluakalani was so relieved to be back home and her business with Billiam over and done with. Right now she wanted nothing more to lie down in bed and relax.

Or at least that was the plan before she met her parents in the main study, both of them looking very unhappy. "Mother, Father, is something wrong?"

"As a matter of fact there is." Lana's father said, glaring darkly at her. "Just when exactly did you plan on telling us about our grandchildren."

Lana froze. "Wh-wh-wh-what?! Grandchildren?! What are you-"

"Don't lie to us, young lady!" Lana's mother shouted, effectively shutting Lana up. "Anymore that is! You have had two daughters, born out of wedlock of all things and instead of bringing them here you left them in some backwater town in America!"

Lana could barely think in the realization her parents had discovered her deepest secret. "H-How?"

"We received this information along with evidence of your involvement with Satyra and that Billiam fool in procuring the idol from us. In exchange he was going to set you up with a false identity so you could run and hide in America." Lana's father explained harshly. "Only it didn't go that way, did it? He double crossed you when he suspected you were going to double cross him and the Satyra abandoned you for your affair."

This was not good.

"I knew we had raised a fool but I never would have believed how much a fool you truly are." Lana's father said harshly. "You endanger our island, spit on our traditions, lie to our faces about your children whom were born out of an affair and conspire with terrorists."

"They're not terrorists! They're freedom fighters!" Lana tried defending.

"Freedom fighters don't commit attacks on people who have done nothing to warrant for the sake of pushing their agenda." Lana's mother retorted. "The Satyra do not care for equality as much as superiority."

"Yeah…Well, at least they showed me I could be more than the pretty princess you two wanted." Lana said, trying to deflect the blame from herself. "All you care you about is this stupid island and your archaic traditions! You sent me to boarding school when I was five!"

"Yes, we did because you wanted to go out see the world and we showed you." The Chief retorted. "To show you that royalty is not above the lives of the people and because we hoped that an outside education would bring our island and the outside world closer together for sake of harmony and growth between us. You knew what you were getting into and you knew what was expected of you."

"I was a child! I didn't know any better!" Lana retorted.

"Really? The constant letters, visits on the holidays, our own little lessons to keep you knowledgeable of your home, was not enough?" The Chief shook his head. "You are not just a fool but in complete denial of your foolishness."

"And what makes you say that, O Great Chief?" Lana asked sarcastically.

"Has it occurred to you that the reason Satyra welcomed you was so that they could have an agent in the royalty of Mitimotu, allowing them access to complete restricted information about our economy so they could use it to turn our island into a recruiting ground?" The Chief asked harshly.

That shut Lana up for a second. "They…They didn't know who I was at the beginning."

"Did they?" Lana's mother asked.

"No!" Lana was sure of it.

"Fool!" The Chief barked. "You were played from the beginning and you cannot admit it!"

"They came to me when I rescued a pair of Faunus kids being harassed by some punks in Empire City outside an art gallery that was their front. They got interested in me." Lana argued.

"Harassing or scouting?" The Chief retorted. "Satrya commonly recruits by looking for sympathizers. It is well known they even bribe humans to commit acts against Faunus and Mobians to galvanize their message."

Lana was stumped at that. "I…I…"

"And this is not the main subject of this discussion. The subject is our GRANDDAUGHTERS!" Lana's mother shouted. "You had no right to hide this from us!"

"I didn't want them dragged into the politics of this island." Lana argued.

"You mean you didn't want us finding out about your affair." The Chief corrected. "Do not presume you can convince us your decision was benign."

"If they had been brought back they'd have been orchestrated for being bastards born out of wedlock." Lana tried anyway.

"Bastards or not, they are still our granddaughters and we would not have forced them to bear the punishment of being born. You hid them away and you have not even visited them in how long?" The Chieftess asked. "Between your public duties as Princess and your double life as a Huntress and an agent of terrorists, not once you visited them or contacted them."

"I was afraid of my messages being intercepted." Lana answered.

"And yet the guardians you paid to look after them have apparently a history of neglecting both of them!" The Chief threw a folder on the table. "They took the money you sent them from your offshore account and left the children to their own devices!"

Lana's eyes widened as she looked over the papers. "What are these?"

"Police reports from the town you left them in. The eldest, Tambry made a few calls to the police about her and her sister being neglected, starved and emotionally abused but every time the police came she retracted her statement." The Chief answered. "Social Services refused to look into the matter after the second call since Tambry kept retracting her statements."

Lana looked over the report, shocked by what she was reading. "No, they promised me…I checked in with them every payment."

"But not the daughters." The Queen said coldly. "Your father is right, you are a fool. You were always a little too vain for my comfort but this just confirms your ignorance. How could you possibly believe this was ever a good idea?"

"I was…I was doing what was right." Lana slapped the papers on the table.

"For yourself!" The Queen grabbed hold of Lana's hand and her hand glowed. "Why did you abandon your daughters?!"

"BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF BEING A MOTHER AND BECAUSE I WANTED TO GET ONE OVER ON THE IDIOT MAN WHO KNOCKED ME UP TWICE!" Lana suddenly shouted before her eyes widened and she pulled her hand out of her mother's and covered her mouth. "You…You used your Semblance on me?!"

Lana's mother was not only the Queen of Mitimotu but had received Huntress training and her Semblance allowed to compel anyone she touched to tell the truth no matter how hard they would try to resist.

"You left me very little choice." The Queen said, her face showing absolute disgust now. "Now I see how pathetic you truly are."

"You shipped me to boarding school when I was five!" Lana shouted, still refusing to accept blame for her own actions.

"But we welcomed you home all the same. We loved you all the same and you wanted to know how best to get the French off our lands and accepted the chance to go to America to learn and study." The Chief said darkly.

"Only because I thought you would come with me! How was I to know you couldn't leave or that you wouldn't choose your duties over me?!" Lana was becoming hysterical now.

"Wrong. We never chose anything over you. Our role as chief and queen means we look after the entire island, not just you. You wanted to go to America and so we gave you what you wanted but you still needed an education." The Queen turned away from Lana. "You chose your ambitions and your allies in Satyra over your daughters, to say nothing of the people who were kidnapped by that gold maniac whom you helped endanger! You are as much the neglectful monster you paint us to be but there is one difference between us."

"And that is?" Lana asked spitefully.

"The difference is we are willing to work to fix what you broke and it will start by you going to get your daughters and bringing them home. We will not allow them to spend another day in ignorance of who they truly are and who their family is." The Chief ordered. "And to make sure you do not turn and run our most trusted huntress will be going with you."

"You're sending someone to keep an eye on me?!" Lana gasped.

"You have proven to be most untrustworthy, Lana." The Queen said. "As soon as we see our granddaughters you are banished from Mitimotu."

"What?!"

"I fail to see why you would be so upset about this. You intentionally planned to leave and set up a new identity in America. We are allowing that." The Chief said. "Your disgraceful actions make it impossible for you to stay on this island."

"So you are sending me away just like that?!" Lana clenched her fists. "How is that different from what I have done?!"

"The difference is you are a full grown woman unlike your daughters who needed the love and care you refused to give them!" The Queen barked. "You know and understand nothing of being a mother because you did not want to be one and thought only of yourself! Well, just as you refused to be a mother to them I refuse to be a mother to you anymore in light of all you have done! Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore. We will look after your daughters now, you can live in whatever apartment you want in America and if you ever come back here after you bring our granddaughters home I will order for your execution!"

Lana's eyes widened at what her mother said and in an act of pure hysteria she pulled out her gun…

WHACK!

Only for it to be whacked out of her hand by a boomerang.

"Nice try!"

The boomerang flew back into the hands of its owner, a badger Mobian who has hanging near the window.

The Chief and Queen glared harshly at their daughter who just realized what she had done. "I…I…"

"Clearly you never learned how to process your emotions." The Queen said coldly. "I have seen the reports as well. Insulting other women you fear to be more beautiful than you, reacting poorly to simple jokes and teasing. You tore a man's hands off simply for making a joke."

"He made fun of my bodily image!" Lana retorted.

"And that's how you respond to such juvenile teasing? What are you, six?" The Chief scoffed. "Acting out violently over simple teasing and insults we raised you to be above such petty behavior. That's the kind of imagery Satyra looks for, Faunus unable to control their tempers and provokes them by bribing humans into partaking in such provocation."

"In other words, you gave them anything and everything they could have wanted and more." The Queen was too ashamed to look at her daughter anymore. "Guards, Sticks. See to it Lana is locked in her room and take away her phone and computer. We have to track down her boyfriend and let him know about his daughters."

"Wait, you can't tell him!" Lana shouted as she taken away.

Xxx

Then they managed to track down the girls' father.

"Mad me? Nooooo of course not, what could have given you that crazy idea!? I mean really Lana it's not like I've found out that I've been a father for years without knowing or that you've been lying to me for years!"

Lana protested weakly. "Well technically I didn't so much as lie, as I didn't just tell you about certain things."

Archer retorted back. "Well technically that's what they call lying by omission! And apparently it wasn't just me was it your highness, since mommy and daddy aren't happy with their little princess slash Satyra Agent are they?"

Lana began to get steamed and retorted back. "Look I was just trying to protect and give them better life."

"Oh and look how well that turned out! I mean really great job there! In fact let's review shall we? The crappy guardians that just took your money, the older kid having to raise the little kid herself, the disappearance of the younger daughter, the older one landing in the hospital home when her foster home was burned to the ground." Archer recalled what he had been told and had learned.

Lana in tears roared back. "ALRIGHT ALREADY I GET IT! Do you think I'm blind, do you really think I don't realize how much I've fucked up and hurt my daughters!?"

"I don't really know now, do I?! It's not like you ever thought to tell me!"

"Hey, you are a man-child in love with his own dick! You think I wanted the kids around that?!" Lana retorted.

"No, you never wanted them around at all. Funny how you claim to act all mature, Lana but deep down you're as conceited as my own mother!"

Lana gasped. "I am not!"

"Really? You sent them away like my mother did me, you lied to them about their father like my mother did me and you were acting as double agent that was absent from their entire lives like my mother did me until Woodhouse took me away!" Archer shouted.

"So what, if I had told you then you would turn into a responsible adult who thinks of others instead of himself and how great he thinks he is?" Lana argued back.

"Well, you never gave me the chance did you? What is it you said when I asked you to marry me?" Archer said, pretending to be deep in thought.

"Archer, don't-"

"Oh right, you'd rather lose the goddamn baby. Your exact words, Lana!" Archer shouted again. "Only you lost them much later and I didn't have to be present for it!"

"I didn't lose them!" Lana denied.

"So what does one daughter going missing with the guardians barely making an effort to find her before they get killed in a fire and leaves the elder daughter without a home count as?" Archer retorted. "Just face it, you didn't want to be a mother at all, did you?"

"If that was true why'd I go through the joy of childbirth in the first place?" Lana asked rhetorically.

"Oh, because you wanted to get one up on me without ever knowing which is exactly what my own mother did which proves my point!" Archer shouted.

"Well…You asked for it!" Lana shouted, unable to admit Archer was right. "You were just overly in love with yourself and such a pretentious ass someone had to take you down a peg! I didn't believe in abortion anyways so I couldn't back out and it wasn't like I'd expect you to get your act together if I told you in the first place!"

"Oh yeah? Well here is me taking you down one: Lana Kane you are literally the worst, most disgusting and most immature woman I have ever met. Even my mother has a bigger heart than yours." Archer pointed right at Lana. "I will be on my way soon and when I get there if you try filling the kids' with lies about me again I'll shoot until you are literally dead in this world and in any other world!"

Xxx

Then when I got there I was tortured by a talking bird.

The Pericles fluttering in front of her once again continued on as his counterparts in the trees fell silent. "Ah yes Satyra the organization you choose over your own family and dedicated your life to, all for the goal of what you claim is equality." Pericles' voice gained a darker edge. "But tell me your highness where are they now, surely for your years of sacrifice they would come aid you in your time of need." Pericles made a fake gasp of realization. "Oh yes, that's right! I remember now your persona non grata to them! And why? Because they learned about your relations with a human and giving birth to human children."

Illusion Fred suddenly roared in rage. "YOU FILTHY HUMAN LOVING TRAITOR! YOU DESERVE NOTHING BUT DEATH FOR YOUR BETRAYAL!"

He suddenly begins to swing at Lana forcing her to jump back in surprise at his sudden attack.

Lana angrily retorted. "I didn't betray anyone, the Satyra betrayed me!"

Fred growled back. "The moment you laid with a human you betrayed not only all that Satyra stood for, but your very species."

Lana angrily at first but trailed off in sorrow at the end. "Satyra stands for equality and peace for the Faunus and Mobians with humanity...or at least it was supposed to."

Fred scoffed. "Please there can be no peace with humans, and equality they never gave it to us, so all they deserve is to suffer and serve under their superiors!"

Before Lana could retort she hears a voice speaking with deep spite behind her that causes her to freeze.

"Don't act so shocked mother." She whirled around seeing Tambry glaring at her with hatred. "You knew all along what Satyra was really like, you just choose to ignore it, just like you ignored the existence of the human daughters you were ashamed of!"

Lana with tears down her face began to implore to her. "Tambry it wasn't like that-"

Only to be interrupted by the birds in the tree speaking in sync. "Wasn't it Prinzessin? But at last we've come to the next ones on the list the daughters you failed and abandoned!"

Tambry started laughing in bitter unamused tone. "Wasn't like that, don't give me that crap! It was exactly like that! You abandoned us to those bastards, forcing me to sacrifice my own childhood to do my best to protect and raise Nyx, and be the mother you couldn't be."

Tambry shook her head with tears running down her face and her voice filled with despair filling Lana with fear and concern at what she said next. "But in the end I failed to protect her."

"Protect her from what?"

She than whirled to her left at the sound of a new voice entering the scene, and saw her youngest daughter standing before with a glare deeper and filled with more hate than even her sister. "Where were you mom, when I needed you the most? Why did you leave us? You abandoned me! You failed me!"

She faded away and Lana could see the outline of a young adult with glowing purple eyes.

"Do you know what I've become?"

Lana stepped back, trembling in fear before she took off and ran.

"That's right, run! Run, Fraulein!" Pericles laughed, his voice coming from all around her as she ran in any direction. "Run and see what you have done!"

Pericles disappeared as he laughed, knowing that his work was done for the moment.

Lana was alone for some time, wandering the woods and trying to find her way back to civilization. Only to fall into a deep cavern where she would remain for days.

Xxx

And all of it leads up to this.

"Go on." Nyx encouraged Tambry to take the knife and stab their mother to death. "Show me how much you love me."

Tambry was trembling now as she stood over Lana with the knife held over her.

"Remember now, you either do it or you can just stay here with Mommy and spend time bonding with her." Nyx whispered into Tambry's ear. "I'm a busy girl so make up your mind, fast."

WHACK!

Tambry cried out as the knife was knocked out of her hand by a boomerang. Nyx scowled as she watched it fly into the hands of a badger Mobian.

"Am I late?" Sticks the Badger asked, ready to throw her boomerang again.

Nyx scoffed and then smiled as she turned and faced the Mobian.
