Just so we're clear, this is a FEM HARRY story. Sorry about the confusion!
In retrospect, Aaron really should have foreseen Lucario being pissed enough that he would accidentally attack Ash because of their aura signature.
Fortunately Rusty's Lucario (Aster named her Reinforce, after much deliberation) had been acting as the kid's babysitter and was thus able to stop his old Lucario from hurting them. He still gave Ash a good scare.
"You do not attack the children!" she shouted, before giving her counterpart a firm slap.
That seemed to knock some sense into Lucario...either that or the hit to the head he took from where his skull impacted onto the crystal.
Several hours and one concussion later...
Lucario's face twitched.
"You waited several years before retrieving me. Why?"
"One, I had forgotten the fact that I was more or less reincarnated due to an agreement with Arceus and a being that's currently under probation. Two, I was busy training the kids so that they are at least semi-competent as Aura Guardians. Three...because when I finally remembered you, I knew you were going to be pissed and I knew I'd need back-up before you were ready to actually hear me out," said Aaron.
"Don't forget that Reinforce likes to use you as target practice during her mating seasons!" chirped Aster from where she was sitting on the bed.
Aaron winced at that. Rusty, for whatever reason, usually had Reinforce keep him out of trouble. For that reason, she had a habit of bossing him around and didn't fully listen to him because she was generally cleaning up after him.
At this point she was Delia's bodyguard/helper.
Aster looked at the much calmer Lucario with a serious expression.
"Which reminds me, you need a name now too!"
"A...name?" said Lucario confused. Aaron hid a smile at his daughter's enthusiasm.
"Yeah, just calling you Lucario all the time would get confusing, especially if there is more than one of you around. Having a name makes it easier for people to identify which one they're talking about."
Aaron gave up and chuckled at the scene. Lucario was actually pretty good with kids, but most trainers didn't bother to name their Pokémon. Besides, how often did you see a Lucario in the Kanto region?
Aster suddenly had a wide grin on her face.
"Charlemagne! That's what your name should be."
"Charlemagne?" repeated Aaron, with some amusement.
"I would go with Arthurian names, but it ended with the knights revolting against their king. Charlemagne was a good and pious king who died from natural causes rather than killed in battle," said Aster.
"So I guess that means we can just call him 'Charlie'," joked Aaron. Charlemagne was a bit of a mouthful.
Aster nodded enthusiastically. Lucario...or rather Charlie...made a note to look up this king later.
Once the confusion was cleared up...and Charlie had forgiven Aaron for not explaining properly what he was about to do...the family went back to Pallet town. Aaron and Charlie would disappear for a few months, partly to get reacquainted but mostly because Aaron had something special planned for his daughter's birthday and the subsequent beginning of her journey.
Aster loved her brother, but the siblings had agreed it was better to journey apart for now. That way they could prove sufficiently challenging to each other later.
Aster fully planned to journey with him in Johto though.
Aster looked at the pokéball eagerly. Her dad had gone to another region to make sure she had something unique and hard to predict for her gym challenge.
She threw the ball. Familiar light came out, followed by a very unusual Pokémon.
"Tyrunt!" it roared.
Aster squealed.
"I love it! I was wondering where my Jaw fossil disappeared to!"
The newly resurrected Pokémon looked at his new trainer. It gladly accepted the bribe of poffins.
"That is so cool!" said Ash gushing. Then he sulked a bit. "It sucks I have to wait a little over three months for my first Pokémon."
"Would it help if I told you that there are companies that can resurrect the fossil you have, for a price most trainers can afford? In Kanto no less?" said Aaron smiling.
Ash perked up at that. He had a few fossils himself, but he wasn't an avid collector like his sister.
"Besides, I've been making a few trips and I've managed to collect something for when you start your journey," said Aaron.
"Really?" said Ash.
Aaron nodded.
"One of them will be a surprise, but I've managed to not only secure a Pokémon flute, but also a black and white flute. They decrease and increase the number of Pokémon you encounter respectively. It was rather hard to collect the materials to get those."
Ash hugged his uncle Aaron. He had suffered through flute lessons after learning there really were instruments that trainers could use on their journey. The items were far more effective when the one using them knew how to actually play though, and this way he'd never have to worry about a Snorlax blocking his path.
"Hey, maybe now you can get all those Pokémon you and your friends agreed to trade," said Ash. Aster brightened at that.
She had joined a chat group (with Delia and Aaron's permission) for prospective trainers who wanted certain Pokémon not in their region. To that end they agreed to trade if one of their group caught said Pokémon that they didn't want to keep for themselves.
Aster had a list of Pokémon, and what the other trainers would agree to trade for them, within reason. Most of the time gender and abilities didn't matter, but there were a few oddballs.
Ash would rather catch them himself once he visited that region, but he could openly admit there were a few he'd love to have sooner rather than later.
Pikachu being on the very top of that list.
"Which reminds me...Mom said you could have this," said Daisy.
It was a bike. It was a bit beat up and not exactly the most current model, but it was still in good condition and had all the parts working.
It was also very firmly a girl's bike, as it was decorated in Jigglypuff and was a bright pink.
Aster loved it. She had begged her mom for a bike, but they simply couldn't afford one. At least that's what she told the kids. In reality she had talked over with Daisy and Gary's mother and she had agreed to let Aster have it since she was too big for it and Daisy had outgrown it. And Gary's pride refused to have him riding anything pink.
Ash looked disappointed. Aaron chuckled.
"Don't forget, you're going to be getting that flute set and I fully plan to get you something special that came out in Hoenn. Not a bike though."
That made him perk up.
Aster was sent off with a rather impressive amount of fanfare, and had to take a deep breath once she was out of sight of Pallet Town.
Mostly because this was the farthest she had ever gone without someone with her. She decided to go a bit farther before trying to catch anything. She didn't want anything like a Pidgey or a Spearow. And she wasn't a big fan of Caterpie or Weedle either.
To that end she pulled out her new (to her) bike, and after a moment's thought sent out Rex, her new partner.
"Tyrunt!"
"Want to have a race? It'll be good practice for your legs," she said, motioning to her bike.
"Sure!" he agreed.
Once she got the hang of riding, the two of them headed to Viridian at a rather decent pace. Rex seemed to thoroughly enjoy the exercise at least.
This was going to be fun. Especially since her dad had given her an egg with a wink and told her it was a test of sorts to see if she could handle becoming a full Aura Guardian.
A few months later...
To say Ash was eager for his own Pokémon journey was an understatement. He kept getting e-mails from his sister on her journey...and he had been insanely jealous while counting down the days until his own could start.
He was so eager he overslept, but he still managed to make it in time to reach Oak's lab for a Pokémon.
Ash didn't notice the look in the professor's eyes, at least not at first. He was just over the moon that he was getting a Pikachu as his starter.
The second he touched the electric mouse's fur, however, he immediately had a headache.
"Oh my head..." complained Ash.
"I agree," complained Pikachu.
The mouse promptly took his usual spot on Ash's shoulder.
"So...time travel. Wonder which Legendary is responsible this time?" said Ash tiredly. Honestly, he had seen and been through too much to be fazed by it anymore.
"I was warned by your uncle that you might remember almost everything when you got Pikachu," said Oak. "I just assumed he was joking."
Ash suddenly had a stronger headache, as two sets of memories settled...mostly his childhood. The first was the one he originally had, where he grew up alone but still in a loving home...and where he had no idea what happened to his father.
This second childhood was throwing him for a bit of a loop, because he had a sister and training as an Aura Guardian by an uncle he definitely didn't remember having before. Never mind growing up with a Lucario.
"I told you there was a strong chance he'd remember what happened," said a voice smugly.
It took Ash three seconds to place it. His current memories told him this was his uncle Aaron, but his instincts told him something slightly different.
Oak grumbled and handed over some cash.
"I'm sure you have questions Ash, and I'll try to explain as much as I can soon. Right now I'm sure your mother and the others are eager to celebrate you getting a Pokémon," said Aaron.
Sure enough, there was the same sending off party. It wasn't as big as Gary's or Aster's, but it was still pretty fun.
Once Ash was out of sight of Pallet Town, he waited for Aaron.
"So how are you alive again?" asked Ash. Because last time he checked, he was supposed to be Sir Aaron's reincarnation or something.
"Blame Arceus," said Aaron.
"Arceus?"
"Something came to our world from the outside...much like Deoxys did, but this time it wasn't a Pokémon. So he sent me to keep an eye on it and made sure it would end up in close proximity to someone he knew he could trust," said Aaron. "The fact you regained memories of the first time around was partly a side effect, but also to insure you had a head start in case this force woke up prematurely."
Ash scratched Pikachu under the chin.
"I'm not complaining," he said after thinking about it. It wouldn't be the first time he altered history. "So who or what is Aster?"
"I have no idea," admitted Aaron. "However I'm sure she's the reason your father had a proper burial this time, as opposed to disappearing without a trace. There was some sort of unknown power bolstering Rusty during his last act, and it lingered long enough for him to say his last goodbye. I believe, though I have no way to prove it at this point, that the only reason this force failed to save him is because the distance was too great and the force was still dormant."
Ash felt a twinge...it had been hard enough learning exactly what happened to his dad the first time. Knowing there was a chance he could have been saved hurt, but at least this time he didn't have to make that really awkward call explaining to his mom where her husband actually went and why he never came back.
She always suspected, but it had still hurt having it confirmed.
"Anyway, have fun on your journey. Somehow I have the feeling this force won't remain dormant for long around you and at least this time you got a sibling out of the deal. Oh, and before I forget...Charlie asked me to pass this egg to you. Apparently one of the messengers of the Lucario kingdom visited and brought this one for you to use as your qualification to full Aura Guardian. So long as you can successfully train the Pokémon inside to use Aura properly within a year, you'll be considered one of us," said Aaron.
Considering the other egg that was produced between Reinforce and Charlie was given to Aster, Ash had a pretty good idea what was inside. Knowing his luck, it would likely end up hatching into the same Riolu he saved from Hunter J.
"Still can't believe I learned how to play the Pokémon flute of all things," he grumbled good naturedly.
"Having more than one hobby won't kill you, and at least this is a useful one," deadpanned Aaron. "It's not good to train all the time and even Pokémon enjoy a bit of music. That reminds me, there's a place in Pewter that resurrects fossil Pokémon for a fee, though the price goes down considerably if you agree to let them demonstrate how it's done to interested trainers."
Ash had at least two fossils in his bag, and there was one left on his nightstand. Which meant he would have access to two fossil type Pokémon (not the standard Kanto three) any time he felt like reviving them.
Any gym leader or trainer he faced after that was going to be in for a bit of a surprise.
