Jasper was relieved that he was reunited with his beloved Maya. It seemed that they would be able to fight together for Good in the final battle. Even if one died, the other could live what remained of their life knowing that they'd be reunited in Heaven. Ideally they'd both survive and live out their lives together. But they couldn't understand why certain people were pulled back to Hell, and certain others weren't. One such example was John Murphy. Jasper asked Murphy about this.
.
Jasper: How is it you're still here, but Clarke, Bellamy, and Octavia are in Hell?
Murphy: Do I look like I make the rules? Maybe they did bad things in past lives. Or maybe committing genocide really threw off the whole curve. And ofcourse Octavia burned down her garden so that her people would have to go to war. I admit I did some bad things.
Jasper: Like killing a child?
Murphy: That was self-defense. She killed Wells, and was okay with me being lynched. And technically she did kill herself.
Jasper: Yeah, maybe you're right. I just feel a little bad for them.
Murphy: Maybe I do too. But as far as I can tell there's nothing we can do for them. Nothing except fight one last battle to free their souls.
Jasper: Yeah, you, me, Maya, Wells, Emerson. You tried to kill Wells once.
Murphy: And I apologized to him.
Jasper: My point is, can you set aside these past differences for the final battle?
Murphy: If Emerson can, I can. It's funny, we all fought each other for survival, and we all eventually died anyway.
Jasper: Do you really think this will be the war to end all wars?
Murphy: The history books are full of wars that would suppossedly end all wars.
Jasper: But I mean, we win, and the world will be at peace.
Murphy: It was at peace once, until it occured to people to start killing each other. It occured to them once, it will occur to them again. Maybe the world will at least have a break from war. Maybe those of us who survive the final battle won't see a return to war in our lifetimes. We can hope anyway.
Jasper: Yeah, we can hope.
