Chapter 285

.

General Gardner had devoted his whole life to the american military. As a child he had watched the various "Star Trek" shows, and felt a certain kinship with the klingons. Gardner had never imagined that there was a world where the klingons were real, although they seemed to be based on any number of real world military dictatorships. Yet now, here he and his beloved Wynter, were stuck in Hell, with several klingons. These klingons had refused to fight for Evil in the final battle, as had Gardner and Wynter. Now, these two went to a klingon restaurant, the here Kayliss the unforgettable himself talk. For a military man, there were certainly worse ways to sit and await the outcome of the final battle. This restaurant was also full of other soldiers, some of whom had fought against Gardner in America's second civil war. More than a few old enemies were now eating together, their old wars seemed to make no sense anymore. They'd fought for worlds that no longer existed. All they could do now was await the end, together.

.

Kayliss: There was a terrible storm that came to our world. We all fled to the shelters, all except one man. He was as strong and stubborn as anyone I'd ever known. He refused to take shelter, claimed he could frighten the storm into leaving him alone. This man died from the storm, died for nothing. Fortune favors the brave, not the foolish. There is honor in dying for one's family, or people, or for a cause that one truley believes in. But there is no honor in dying for nothing. My friends, I know you are all warriors, you are not afraid to fight and die for an honorable cause. But you have chosen to not serve pure Evil, you just refused to put your own selfish desires ahead of doing what is right. In that sense, you are all courageous warriors, and I would be proud to call any of you klingons.
