He doesn't know if it's an illusion, but Lin Ye feels that whenever Messiah opens her mouth to speak, he would always become speechless at whatever she says.
This feeling reminded him of when he first went to college. They had organized a debate for freshmen and Lin Ye who had signed himself up was originally ambitious and wanted to show himself off on the new stage.
But when it was finally his turn, his opponent turned out to be a pretty girl and his words got caught up in his throat resulting in his defeat. Rendering his preparations useless.
In the end, it led to the disastrous defeat of his team, and he became the worst performer in the debate. The experience that night frustrated him and made him learn.
Just play the game and don't try.
But in retrospect, the girl who made him speechless just by looking at him wasn't just because she was pretty.
It wasn't because he didn't know how to interact with the opposite gender.
And it wasn't because he hated females either.
He was just bad at socializing in general.
But you can't blame him. He was always alone and had no friends when he was young, except for a girl in his neighbourhood. But even then, it was only because he was always sick and had to constantly stay at home.
Lin Ye scratched his head to pull himself back from his thoughts. He then looks at Messiah.
"You told me before that if the maple tree on the top of the holy mountain withered, you can leave Kalan."
"Yes." Messiah nods, "What's the matter?"
Lin Ye rubbed his chin, "Is it possible to wither it intentionally?"
Messiah shows a smile
"Yes." Messiah looks up at the ceiling, "But it would come at the cost of Karlan's Catastrophe immunity."
Lin Ye is a little surprised, "Seriously? Then I can't cut it then."
"I don't think you'll do that."
Lin Ye sighs.
If only he can just abduct Messiah, it would be great. As long as he is with Messiah by his side, who would dare to mess with him. See what happens if that silly wolf down below speaks badly to him?!
Maybe...
Lin Ye says silently to Messiah, "Lappland. Do you remember her?"
"Hmm. What's wrong?"
"She troubled you a lot a few days ago. You can go down and teach her a lesson later." Lin Ye says, "I don't really care much but please don t kill her. Just socking her hard on the face is good enough."
"Achoo!"
Lappland who had just arrived downstairs sneezed loudly. She rubbed her red nose, and muttered to herself in slight confusion,
"Why do I always feel like someone is talking bad about me behind my back?"
The things about Lappland being used as a stress reliever, were, of course, used to lighten up the atmosphere.
After that, Messiah led the topic of their talk to Maple. She turned around to look at the blade placed on Lin Ye's blade and smiled.
"Seems like you've found out about some of its unique abilities."
Maple's abilities were also something Lin Ye wanted to ask Messiah a long time ago.
"Are there any more skills that Maple has?"
"What do you think?"
"How would I know? You were the one who made it."
"But it's yours now." Messiah stood up from his bed and unsheathed Maple.
The sword made a crisp, ringing sound as it exited out of the sheathing. Its blade shimmered brilliantly under the sun. Then she looks at the amulet near Lin Ye waist.
"Are these the powers of a Sarkaz?"
"Yes, it is. Sanctuary and Creed Field,"
"The Sarkaz has some very good powers." Messiah exclaimed, "They're a strong race."
Messiah gave the blade back to him.
Lin Ye coughed twice, "Aren't Sarkaz demons? And since you are a god. God praising devils, is that not weird to you?"
"God and Devil are not natural enemies. At least I and the Sarkaz are not like that. Their real enemies are themselves."
Lin Ye knows that, he knew of the civil war that happened years ago.
Lin Ye clenched his fist hard. If that war did not happen, Liz would've had a better life.
Is killing that fun?
Messiah apparently sees what he was thinking.
"Let's talk about the sword." In order to prevent sidetracking themselves, Messiah changes the topic back to Maple.
Lin Ye what she was doing and smiled at her.
"Maple seems to be able to absorb, uh, other powers? And then release it twice as strong?"
"It might be better to say nature than power. For example, there is some of it in it now. It's still immune to spells and others form." Messiah points Maple to Lin Ye, "This is part of the nature of that Sarkaz. You absorbed it and increased it, and finally..."
"... Sanctuary will become stronger.", Lin Ye still remembers the scene last night. He stabbed Maple that had absorbed Sanctuary into the ground and after that, the people within the entirety of the SilverAsh's residence could not use their Arts anymore.
This rendered Mephisto's casters useless and directly abolished Mephisto's sorcerer team.
He can't help to sigh, "Isn't this too powerful?"
Messiah laughs and asks, "What do you mean? The power of Sarkaz?"
"Of course...Wait, is this your strength?",
Lin Ye feels like he just asked something stupid again,
"Yes, this is my talent."
"Talent?" Lin Ye looked at Maple," Then, why did you gave me this?"
"It's useless to me now." Messiah shook her head. "Because I no longer need to fight for my life anymore, I extracted some of my strength and made this blade from it."
Lin Ye opens his mouth. He is very surprised because he didn't expect Maple to be Messiah's initial strength. He originally thought it was just a weapon that Messiah casually made.
If Messiah didn't say that, he really wouldn't have known. He suddenly feels that Maple in his hand is now heavier.
"Then this is too valuable." Lin Ye said, "You gave it to me just like this. Is that alright?"
Messiah looks at Lin Ye and smiles, "There is no good or bad thing. The fruit that falls can no longer be near its tree again."
Lin Ye feels that Messiah's metaphor is weird, but he is relieved to see that the Messiah does not mind him holding on to the blade. After all, he has already felt the power of Maple and was reluctant to let go of it.
Then he remembers something.
"That's right." Lin Ye asks Messiah, "You said last time that this blade still needs solar power to be used."
"Huh?" Messiah looks at Lin Ye in surprise, "This blade does need to be charged. Or rather. It needs to absorb nature to exert its true power." Messiah says, "But you have to pay attention, the blade needs to absorb a lot to function properly."
Lin Ye became a little surprised, "That is to say, it needs to continuously absorb nature to exert its true power?"
"Yes."
Lin Ye is speechless. He feels that this is a running theme with him. Every new ability that he gets, there would always be a big drawback following it.
The Wave Leaping Strike can only last for less than a minute, and it will be gone after that minute. This time he finally got a divine weapon, but he was also told that this invincible-sounding blade needs to keep its battery in check?
Lin Ye can't help but make complaints.
"Also."
Lin Ye noticed that Messiah's tone suddenly became much more serious. So he put aside his random thoughts and focused his attention on her.
"As long as you can use Maple well, you can deal with most enemies. But only most of them. Not all."
"I know."
"You don't know." Messiah reminded him.
"This world is bigger than you think. A lot bigger.", Messiah says softly, "There are still many places you haven't understood yet, or even heard of. Much worse, there is still something hidden in there that even we dare not approach."
"Even for you?" Lin Ye asks, "Is it another god?"
Messiah sighs,
"Don't think that Gods are the most powerful beings. The world is in order. Order is the strongest and Gods cannot disobey the order of the world. We also need to abide by the rules of the world. Nothing is invincible. There are some... Forget it, I'll just remind you of one thing, you must remember."
Lin Ye feels that Messiah is serious and nods solemnly.
"Don't get close to the people of the deep sea."
"...People of the deep sea?" Messiah's words made Lin Ye think of Skadi. She is known as the deep sea hunter after all. He can't help but ask, "What's wrong with them?"
"Don't ask so much. If you don't want to be torn to pieces inexplicably, don't come close to them." Messiah says, "The sea has a longer history than the land."
"Okay." Lin Ye nods, "I won't get close. After all, I am also a person who is afraid of death and aware that I am not that strong. I know that even with Maple, I am still weak. I won't deny that"
"Although I admit that there is no problem with your statement." Messiah shakes her head and says, "But I don't like it."
".. How so?" Lin Ye is a little confused now. "What do you mean?"
"I told you to stay away from those monsters, but I don't want to make you timid either.", Messiah pats Lin Ye on the shoulder, she says seriously,
"Know that you are the holy man of Karlan, my man, and you should be more confident in yourself. If someone or something wants to hurt you.", Messiah says lightly, "Just use this blade to give them a free one-way ticket to hell."
{Rhodes Island' Psychologist}
At Rhodes Island, in a room off-limits to most staff, Kal'tsit turns on the communication terminal in the room and adjusts the audio.
Then, she spoke into a microphone, "Can you hear me?"
Her voice was like a stone thrown into calm water. Like ripples on the water surface. After dispersing, there was no response.
But Kal'sit was not impatient. She waits.
After a long time, a flat female voice resounded in the research room, "Yes."
"I see. Well, the delay isn't too bad, and the signal is acceptable enough. Have you arrived at the target location? Did you find anything?"
"No."
Kal'tsit sat back on her chair,
"Then check the situation first and be careful. It may be very dangerous on your side."
Skadi did not respond. Only the sound of crashing waves and light footsteps was heard. These sounds let Kal'sit know that Skadi has not lost contact. In this case, it would be best if they did not lose contact with each other so Kal'tsit asked a question.
Skadi didn't like to respond until Kal'tsit asks about something else.
"How is your job in the counselling room?"
Skadi was silent for a while, before finally responding
"Why ask?"
"Curious," Kal'tsit folds her arms, "To be honest, I'm surprised you would join that kind of place."
"Hmm."
"What's the reason?" Kal'tsit asked.
Skadi didn't answer.
"Is it because of Lin Ye? You don't seem to reject him."
Skadi didn't answer.
"Although I may be nosy, I still want to remind you not to let Dr. Lin Ye know too much about you..."Kal'tsit said slowly, "It won't end well for him."
Skadi didn't answer. Only static can be heard.
No sound was at the other end of the line now.
The communications channel abruptly cut off.
Silence reigned.
