Inuyasha's words echo back at her.
"You told him yet?"
The overwhelm takes her by surprise. Her tension evaporates in the space of a second, vision unfocused and fixated as her hands press to her chest. Her breath is shallow, too hard and quick.
There's a light squeeze on her waist.
"Miko?"
"One minute," she gasps. Tears abruptly surge, and all she can picture is the youkai mourning the loss of her mate.
"What is wrong?"
She looks away, doesn't respond.
"No, Kagome." Without warning, he sweeps her up, ignoring her protests, and carries her to her bed. "Tell me."
