And there it is.
Kagome stares, the world slipping away as she sits in his arms, tuning out everything but him. A flimsy weightlessness envelops her, and she covers her mouth with her palm, spellbound by the darkened gold that waits.
"You know," she finally says, and her hand falls from her face. "He knows."
For the space of a breath, his gaze falls to her lips before he catches himself and refocuses. "Why would you think he does not?"
"You…he…we…"
He hums and bends, brushing the tip of her nose again. "You wear your heart on your sleeve, Miko."
A/N: Hello all! Thank you for reading. I would appreciate your input if you don't mind. Obviously, we've done something different these last few weeks in updating a single chapter at a time 3x a week. I would like to know how that's working out for your reading experience? Does the consistency of posting help? Or do you prefer how it used to be done with getting a chunk all at once.
I'm trying to decide how to move forward. If you all like it as it's going now, great! I can continue doing so (there will be some exceptions here and there with extra, but for the most part, 3x a week). If we go back to the other way, great too. Updates will be slower, but you get more at once.
