It's raining when she wakes.
Kagome opens her eyes, eyes bleary and still clouded with sleep. The sound of droplets hitting the ground outside filters in through her open window, the surprise storm rumbling in the distance.
An arm holds her close.
It's not yet light, and he's not awake, but the rain is inviting, and she carefully untangles herself from him.
He stirs. "Kagome?"
She smiles down at his face as she crawls over him. "I'll be right back."
Nodding drowsily, he tilts his chin, warm lips pressing to hers before he settles back to sleep.
Her heart catches.
