There is emptiness.
He disappears into the dawn, the silver of his hair the last thing she sees through the precipitation as he reaches the shrine steps.
That was him.
A strange mixture of elation and melancholy settle in, and Kagome hugs herself as her vision begins to blur.
She needs to go back. Needs to touch him, hold him…
Tell him.
Her throat constricts, everything around her dulling as his absence burns within, and she turns and heads for her shower. She flicks on the water, watches the steam swirl.
"…allowed to love him."
Heartache slowly begins to fade.
A/N: Thank you for reading and sharing all your opinions on your preferences! For now, we're going to keep with the larger drops. My biggest concern is the emotional flow of the story getting stunted - don't want that. And it seems that most of you prefer the larger chunks to keep up with what's going on more easily. So, we'll do that.
