The words slip out of her, simple and honest.

"I love him." Something powerful wells up inside of her, and she slaps a hand over her mouth, tears prickling as amber eyes slide to hers. She nods, trying to speak. "So much."

It's freeing to say it.

Silence stretches between them, neither looking away. She can see thoughts churning behind his irises, a myriad of emotions reflected on an otherwise blank face, and for a moment, she worries.

Inuyasha's unusually quiet, somber. But before she can break into panic, a fanged smile cracks.

"Inuyasha?"

He chuckles. "About damn time, Kagome."
