Episode 396: The Dark Heart of Love and Friendship
Last time, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon run into three Pokémon trainers with Pokémon that represented the elements of fire, lightning, and ice, unaware that they were hired by Mercurymon, Ranamon, and Devimon to lure them into a trap.
After winning the battles, the trainers have pointed them in the direction of Sunyshore City, only to be caught in a trap. Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, and Azurill were spared from the pull of Sakkakumon, but Sora, Kairi, Riku, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon weren't so lucky.
After arriving inside, and unaware of what it really is, they try to figure out where they are, only to have Meowth be pushed right in. And there, Meowth has met the Horse Deva, Indramon. Indramon begins to plant the seeds of doubt into Meowth, until Sora, Kairi, Riku, Pikachu, Eevee, Angel, and the Digimon has shown up, and snapped Meowth out of it. Guilmon Warp Digivolved to WarGrowlmon and destroyed him. Their victory was short-lived when they get separated from one another. Sora, Pikachu, Meowth, Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, and Gomamon ends up in one area as Kairi, Angel, Patamon, Gatomon, Veemon, Wormmon, Hawkmon, and Armadillomon ended up in another, and leaving Riku, Eevee, Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon, Lopmon, Gaomon, and Lalamon in another.
Riku woke up in an area that looks like a forest, as Sora has woke up in an area that looks like a volcanic waste land. Kairi has ended up in a meadow by a lake. Riku looked around to see if anyone else was with him. Eevee, Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon, Lopmon, Gaomon, and Lalamon were with him.
"You guys okay?" Riku asked.
"Vee," Eevee said.
"I think I still have my hear," Terriermon said.
"But how did we get here?" Lopmon asked.
"But where is here?" Renamon asked.
"And where are Sora, Kairi, and the others?" Gaomon asked.
"I'm sure we can find them just by looking for them," Guilmon said.
"Guilmon's right. We're never going to get anywhere just by standing around," Riku said.
"Eevee!" Eevee said.
Outside, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua all stand outside, looking at the large Digimon. They saw one of its orbs goes dark.
"What just happened?" Ventus asked.
"I'm not sure. I don't if it's good or bad," Terra said.
"But do you think they're okay up there?" Aqua asked.
"They have to be. We can only hope for it," Naminé said.
"Naminé's right. Riku risked everything to help Lusamine, the same can be said for Sora and Kairi. We have to have faith in them," Aqua said.
Just then, Lucas, Dawn, along with Agunimon, Lobomon, Beetlemon, Kumamon, Kazemon, and Loweemon all show up.
"Naminé, Ven, Terra, Aqua!" Dawn said. They all went towards them.
"Dawn, Lucas!" Ven said.
"What are you doing here?" Agunimon asked.
"And where are Sora, Kairi, Riku, Agumon, and the others?" Loweemon asked.
"They're up there," Ventus said, pointing up to Sakkakumon. Lucas, Dawn, and the Warrior Digimon all saw the large green Digimon.
"It cannot be!" Agunimon gasped.
"You know what that is?" Dawn asked.
"It's Sakkakumon. The Beast Warrior of Steel," Lobomon said.
"You mean that thing is a Digimon?" Ventus asked.
"It is. Sakkakumon is a dangerous Digimon to boot," Beetlemon said.
"Sora, Kairi, Riku, and all the others are in danger if they're in that thing," Kazemon said.
"We got to get up there somehow and help them," Ventus said.
"No, Ven. We'll take care of this. You'll have to stay here and wait for them to come out," Lobomon said.
"That's what we'll do," Terra said.
"Agunimon Slide Evolution... BurningGreymon!" Kazemon grabs Kumamon as BurningGreymon grabs Lobomon, and Beeltemon grabs Loweemon and started to head right up to Sakkakumon.
Over to Sora, Pikachu, Meowth, Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, and Gomamon, they wonder around the flaming wasteland and sweats up a storm.
"Ooh, it's hotter in here than a Charizard's Flamethrower in here," Meowth said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu agreed.
"If we're going to find Kairi and Riku, then we got to look around," Sora said.
"But we should be careful, because there could be Digimon in here we might end up running into in here," Gabumon said.
"Just like that Indramon," Gomamon said.
"Let's hope that we don't," Palmon said.
"We better keep going before we do run into a Digimon in here," Tentomon suggested.
Just then, cat-like Digimon appeared before Sora's group and attempted to lunge at them. The group moved out of its path.
"What's the gag?" Meowth asked. Sora took out his Digidex to see what they were dealing with.
"Okay, this Digimon is Lynxmon. A beast Digimon whose body is made of fire. An Armor level Digimon. He attacks with Thermal Mane, Wild Nail Rush, and Wild Nail Claws," Sora said.
"Thermal Mane!" Lynxmon shouted, firing flames. Explosions occurs around them. Lynxmon comes at them again. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Empoleon!" Sora called out, letting Empoleon out. "Hydro Pump!" Empoleon fires Hydro Pump and it struck Lynxmon. Gabumon started to Digivolve.
"Gabumon Digivolve to... Garurumon!" Lynxmon glares right at Garurumon and came right at him.
"Wild Nail Claw!" Lynxmon shouted with his claws out.
"Howling Blaster!" Garurumon shouted, firing his attack at Lynxmon, destroying him. "That takes care of him."
"But who will take care of you?" A new voice echoed. They all looked around.
"Who's there?" Sora asked.
Sora soon got his answer when a green centaur-like Chinese dragon Digimon with long arms with large forearms. He has antlers with a bonji on them, long, grey hair and a long mustache. He wore a purple vest and leather tassets with fur lining.
"I repeat, who will take care of you?" The dragon Digimon asked. Sora took his Digidex once again.
"Majiramon, the Dragon Deva. Ultimate level," Sora said.
"Yes, I am Majiramon," Majiramon said.
"What do you want?" Agumon asked.
"I have not come to fight. I came here to merely to talk," Majiramon said.
"About what?" Sora asked.
"About what you love and value above all else," Majiramon said. Sora was confused by how Majiramon responded.
"The things I love and value?" Sora asked.
Over to Riku, Eevee, Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon, Lopmon, Gaomon, and Lalamon, they kept walking through the forest when they suddenly heard something. Eevee's ears perked up.
"You're hear something, Eevee?" Riku asked.
"Vee," Eevee said.
Wingdramon comes flying in. Riku, Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon, Lopmon, Gaomon, and Lalamon ducked out of the way as he passes over them.
"Wingdramon!" Lalamon exclaimed.
"Look what I came across," Wingdramon said, laughing. "The human named Riku. I have you right where I want you."
"What do you want?" Riku asked.
"To get rid of you, here and now!" Wingdramon said. "Blaze Sonic Breath!" Wingdramon scorching breath from his mouth. Riku, Eevee, Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon, Lopmon, Gaomon, and Lalamon jumped out of the way. The Digimon started to Digivolve.
"Guilmon Warp Digivolve to... WarGrowlmon!"
"Terriermon Warp Digivolve to... Rapidmon!"
"Renamon Warp Digivolve to.. "Taomon!"
"Lopmon Warp Digivolve to... "Antylamon!"
"Gaomon Warp Digivolve to... MachGaogamon!"
"Lalamon Warp Digivolve to... Lilamon!" Riku took out his five Pokéballs and threw them.
"Incineroar, Urshifu, Toxicroak, Lucario, and Luxray!" Riku called out. Stars swirls around Luxray upon entry. "Eevee! Swift! Toxicroak! Sludge Wave! Lucario! Aura Sphere! Luxray! Charge Beam!" Eevee, Luxray, Lucario, and Toxicroak all attacked the dragon Digimon.
Over to Kairi, Angel, Veemon, Patamon, Gatomon, Hawkmon, Armadillomon, and Wormmon were wondering by the lake and she looked around for Sora, Riku, and the other Digimon.
"Sora! Riku! Where are you?!" Kairi called out.
"Eevee!" Angel added.
"Kairi and seems more worried about Sora and Pikachu than Riku," Patamon said.
"Well, after everything those two have been through since the beginning, so who can blame her?" Gatomon asked.
"I just hope for the best that we don't run into anyone like Indramon," Hawkmon said.
"Don't jinx it, Hawkmon," Armadillomon said.
Back to Sora, Pikachu, Meowth, Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, and Gomamon, Sora wanted to know what Majiramon meant by his future.
"Tell me! What did you mean about what I love and value?" Sora asked.
"What is that you desire more than anything in the world?" Majiramon asked. Sora didn't answer him, but Majiramon grinned. "I see. I see, it's not about what, but who you love more than anything. The love you have is on that girl. Kairi, isn't it?" Sora was stunned to hear the Dragon Deva talk about Kairi.
"How did you-" Sora was cut off.
"It is a known factor, Sora. You love Kairi more than life itself. But what would your life be like if she hadn't come into your life?" Majiramon asked.
"What do you mean by that?!" Sora asked.
"Sora, don't listen to a word he's saying!" Agumon told Sora.
"Pika, Pika!" Pikachu said.
"What my life be like if she didn't come in it? That's crazy! I would be totally lost without her!" Sora said.
"Will you?" Majiramon asked. Majiramon begins to show an illusion of Sora and Pikachu going on through the world. What got to him is that Kairi wasn't there for him at all.
"Kairi? Where's Kairi?" Sora asked.
"You never met her in this version of reality. She doesn't exist in your life," Majiramon said. Sora could only watch as the other Sora was being just like Paul. Pushing his Pokémon and releasing them if they didn't meet his standards. He saw his other self abandon an injured Charmander in the forest.
"You're a useless waste of a Pokémon! I'm going to go and find a Charmander that can actually get the job done!" The illusion Sora said.
"No! That's not me! That isn't me!" Sora cried.
"Oh, but it is. You would become just like your rival. You would have no friends to call your own. The Sora you would have been," Majiramon said.
"He's wrong, Sora!" Biyomon said.
"You're not like that!" Gabumon said.
"But what if he's right. What if I would be no different than Paul," Sora said. Majiramon grinned as his doubts was beginning to consume him.
"You're not that Sora, Sora! You got Ven! He looks up to you! And you have Kairi! She exists in your life!" Gomamon said.
"That's right! You have your friends and family!" Palmon added. Sora perked right up.
"You're right. I have my family!" Sora said.
"Family? Oh yes. The family which happens to be your aunt, uncle, cousin, and mother," Majiramon said. Sora looked right at him. "But wait, then what about your father? The one you claimed you never knew? I can imagine the sadness and loneliness she has gone through," Majiramon said. Meowth realized that Majiramon was doing the same thing as Indramon was trying to do.
Over to Riku's group, Wingdramon was doing a number onto the Digimon and Pokémon. Wingdramon started laughing.
"You guys aren't so challenging!" Wingdramon taunted.
"Then, how come Sora beat you?" Riku asked.
"Vee!" Eevee said.
"We shall see," Wingdramon said. "Blaze Sonic Breath!" He fires his attack and it struck the Digimon hard. Just then, Groundramon has arrived.
"You promised me to have some fun with them, too!" Groundramon said.
"Sorry, little brother. But we could go the extra mile! Blaze Sonic Breath!" Wingdramon shouted.
"Scrap Claw!" Groundramon shouted.
Windramon struck WarGrowlmon, Rapidmon, and Taomon as Groundramon struck Antylamon, MachGaogamon, and Lilamon.
"Now, let's kick it up a notch!" Wingdramon said.
"About time!" Groundramon said.
Both the dragon-like Digimon started to Digivolve, much to Riku's surprise.
"Wingdramon Digivolve to-" Wingdramon transformed right into a bipedal dragon Digimon, wearing white armor and wore a green cape. He carries a large gold sword in his clawed hands. "Slayerdramon!"
"Groundramon Digivolve to-" Groundramon transformed into a dragon Digimon with various construction equipment. He has two tails, and a drill on each one. He has a drill on his face. "Breakdramon!" Riku grits his teeth.
"You gotta be kidding! You Digivolved to Mega level?!" Riku exclaimed.
"That's right! We had some practice! Just like you did!" Slayerdramon said.
"And now, we'll crush you like grapes," Breakdramon said. He turned to his brother. "You wanna do the honors, brother?"
"My pleasure!" Slayerdramon said, raising his sword and it emits fire. "Divine Dragon Slash!" He swings his down at the Ultimate level Digimon.
"My turn! Taser Strike!" Breakdramon shouted, all the drills operating throughout his body, striking WarGrowlmon, Rapidmon, Taomon, Antylamon, MachGaogamon, and Lilamon, making them revert back to their Rookie forms.
"Guys!" Riku gasped. He glared right at the two Digimon. He growled.
"Face it, it's over!" Slayerdramon said. "You lost the moment you challenged us."
"Why are you even siding with Myotismon? What is he giving you when you're his lap dogs?" Riku asked.
"The chance that we will rule over the humans. And the place the two of us will rule over is your precious Alola region," Slayerdramon said. Riku grits his teeth.
"We will turn your beautiful paradise into a place of our own liking. And we will crush anyone who would oppose us. Starting with you," Breakdramon said.
"I won't let you do that!" Riku said.
"And how do you plan on stopping us? Look at your friends. They're beaten. Like my brother said, you lost the moment you started to fight us," Breakdramon said.
"But we can make it easy for you. If you surrender to us, peacefully and we won't go after your friends, or your mother," Slayerdramon said. Riku was getting pissed when they threatened his mother.
"You stay away from my mom!" Riku shouted.
"She won't be able to protect herself, and you won't be able to protect her. Who will be protecting her?" Slayerdramon asked.
"We will," Gaomon said, getting up. "We won't let you near her."
"And we won't let you near the Alola region," Lopmon said.
"Because we'll stop you," Renamon said.
"And we'll stop Myotismon," Terriermon said.
"So, knock us down as much as you want," Lalamon said.
"Because we'll keep getting back up!" Guilmon said. "And we'll defeat you!" Eevee and the rest of Riku's Pokémon stood back on their feet.
"What are you trying to accomplish? Riku is alone and you have lost!" Slayerdramon said.
"We're stronger than you in every way!" Breakdramon said.
"No. We're the ones who are stronger; because we have each other!" Guilmon said.
"And together, we can defeat any evil that comes our way!" Renamon said.
"So, you are no match for us!" Gaomon said.
"WE'RE ALL STRONGER THAN THE BOTH OF YOU!" Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon, Lopmon, Gaomon, and Lalamon all said. They started to Digivolve again.
"Guilmon Double Warp Digivolve to... Gallantmon!"
"Terriermon Double Warp Digivolve to... MegaGargomon!"
"Renamon Double Warp Digivolve to... Sakuyamon!"
"Lopmon Double Warp Digivolve to... Cherubimon!"
"Gaomon Double Warp Digivolve to... MirageGaogamon!"
"Lalamon Double Warp Digivolveto... Lotosmon!"
"So, you Digivolved into Mega! You're still no match for us!" Breakdramon said.
"And we will prove it, too! Divine Dragon Slash!" Slayerdramon shouted.
"Destoryed Rush!" Breakdramon shouted.
Slayerdramon swings his sword as Breakdramon raised his shovel arms and brought them down at the six Mega level Digimon.
Gallantmon, "Royal Saber!"
MegaGargomon, "Gargo Missle!"
Sakuyamon, "Spirit Strike!"
Cherubimon, "Storm of Judgement!"
MirageGaogamon, "Full Moon Blaster!"
Lotosmon, "Seven's Fantasia!"
The attacks of the Mega level Digimon struck both Slayerdramon and Breakdramon, making them revert back to Dracomon and they go flying out of Sakkakumon. The Digimon reverts back to their Rookie forms as an eyeball appears before them.
"Vee?" Eevee asked.
"Where did that come from?" Lalamon asked.
"I don't know, but I think we can go through and find Sora and Kairi," Riku said. Not questioning it, they went on through. Another orb on Sakkakumon goes out. BurningGreymon, Lobomon, Kumamon, Kazemon, Beetlemon, and Loweemon kept trying to enter, not giving up. They eventually made it through. BurningGreymon reverted back to Agunimon.
"We're in!" Kumamon said.
"Let's split up! I'll check out this area, the rest of you, check everywhere else," Agunimon said.
"Roger," Beetlemon said.
Back to Sora, Pikachu, Meowth, Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, and Gomamon, Sora was stunned to hear the Dragon Deva talk about his mother.
"What do you mean? My mother is as cheerful as ever!" Sora said.
"Is she now? Does she break down in tears at the mere mention of your father? She must have because the pain of losing him was too great for her to bear," Majiramon said. Sora had to admit, he does remember seeing his mom crying when he was young.
(Flashback)
Three-year-old Sora came into his mother's room and he sees his mother crying on her bed.
"Mommy?" Young Sora asked. Delia turned to her son. "Why are you crying, mommy?"
(Flashback ends)
"What does that have to do with anything?!" Sora exclaimed.
"Everything. What love does is bring ruin to one's life. Love is nothing but poison. The love you shared with this girl has poisoned your heart and blinded you from the painful truth that those close to you will eventually leave you just as your father has left this world. Your friends, your family, and her. She will eventually leave you," Majiramon said, showing another illusion to him. It shows Sora and Kairi in a fight.
"You're nothing but an egotistical jerk and I hate you!" Kairi said.
"If it's all the same, I hate you, too! Breaking up with you is the best thing that's ever happened to me!" Sora said.
Kairi, "Good."
Sora, "Great."
Sora and Kairi, "FINE!"
The illusion vanished. Pikachu, Meowth, and the Digimon were shocked and appalled by the illusion they were seeing. Tears was swelling in Sora's eyes.
"NO! I DON'T WANT THAT! I DON'T WANT THAT!" Sora yelled, starting to cry.
"Sora, snap out of it! He's trying to get under your skin!" Meowth said.
"Leave me alone," Sora said, crying.
"Pika," Pikachu said. He tried to snap Sora out of it.
"Leave me alone, Pikachu!" Sora snapped at his partner. Majiramon chuckled evilly as his seeds of doubt was sprouting inside of Sora's heart.
"Sora, you don't believe that! We know you don't! Majiramon is lying! Everything he's saying is a lie!" Agumon said.
"You already know by now Kairi's not a thing like that!" Biyomon said.
"Majiramon will win if you let him!" Palmon said.
"Maybe Majiramon is right. I'm meant to have any friends, or a girlfriend," Sora said, still crying.
"Sora, do you even hear yourself! You do deserve friends and you deserve Kairi as a girlfriend!" Tentomon said.
"Tell us why do you love Kairi in the first place!" Gabumon said.
"Because Kairi is a sweet girl. She's nice and considerate. She's always thought of everyone else before anyone else," Sora said.
"Pika, Pikachu, Pika, Pika," Pikachu said. Sora turned to his partner.
"Pikachu said that's the only thing that should matter, Sora," Meowth translated.
"Pikachu, Pikachu, Pika, Pika, Pika, Pikachu, Chu, Pika, Pikachu, Pi, Pikachu, kachu, Pikachu, Pika, Pi, Pika, Pika, Pikachu, Pika, Pi," Pikachu said.
"Pikachu just said that you of all people should know better than anyone that Kairi will never break up with you, because she loves you more than anything in the whole wide world. And breaking up with you will mean she'll throw away everything you and she have been through together. And you should already know that Kairi isn't that kind of person," Meowth translated.
"Pi, Pikachu, chu, chu, Pikachu, Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"And like me, she wants to be with you forever. So don't throw away everything you done together," Meowth translated.
Sora knew his partner was right. He and Kairi have been through everything together. She had his back from day one and he owed everything he had accomplished to her. He would be completely nothing without her, not a trainer like Paul.
"Pika, Pika, Pikachu, Pika, Pika?" Pikachu asked.
"And wasn't it you who always made your mom happy whenever she was sad?" Meowth translated. Sora went wide-eyed when Pikachu asked him that.
(Flashback)
"Mommy?" Young Sora asked. Delia turned to her son. "Why are you crying, mommy?" Delia got off her bed and held her only son tight.
"Because, mommy is sad because you never got to meet your daddy, Sora," Delia tearfully said.
"Did daddy go somewhere?" Young Sora asked.
"Your daddy went to heaven. And he's watching us from Heaven," Delia said.
"Why did daddy go there?" Young Sora asked.
"I'll tell you when you're older, honey," Delia said. "But there's something I want you to always remember, Sora. I want you to know that I will always love your daddy forever," Delia said.
"And did daddy love you, too, mommy?" Young Sora asked.
"Yes. Your daddy loved me very much. And your daddy also loved you before you were born, Sora," Delia said.
"Would I love daddy?" Young Sora asked.
"I know you would, Sora. You and him would have been best friends," Delia said.
"I wish daddy were here because I wanna tell him I love him," young Sora said.
"And he would say he loves you, too," Delia said, hugging her son. "And I'm happy to have you as a son, Sora. You made me happier than you will ever know." He hugged his mom back.
(Flashback ends)
He was smiling at the happy memory he had with his mom. He even remembered the confession Kairi made to him.
"I love you, Sora. I've been in love with you from the day when you saved my life from those awful hunters. From the day we met. I want you to know that I love you with all my heart and soul," Kairi said in his memory.
"You're right, buddy. Kairi wouldn't just toss me aside. Kairi is just like my mom. She's been loyal to my dad even after he died. My mom never once thought of anyone replacing him. My mom was depressed about it, but that was only until I came around! And I know Kairi will be the same way with me!" Sora said. He turned to the Dragon Deva. "Nice try to break me, Majiramon, but it didn't work! Kairi is the reason for my strength. I wouldn't be the person I am today if I hadn't met her. Kairi is my strength. Kairi is my power!" Majiramon growled. "I will die before I ever betray her!"
"That's the Sora we know and love!" Biyomon said.
"It's good to have you back!" Agumon said.
"It's good to be back," Sora said.
"If death is what you want, then I shall grant your wish!" Majiramon said bringing his hands down to crush him. Agumon started to Digivolve.
"Agumon Warp Digivolve to... MetalGreymon!" He pushes Majiramon back. The Dragon Deva growled again.
"You should have stayed out of it!" Majiramon said.
"And let you win! I don't think so! I won't forgive you for what you almost did! And you're going to pay for it!" MetalGreymon said. Majiramon flew right to the sky and vanishes.
"Flaming Arrowheads!" Majiramon shouted, unleashing red arrowheads down and struck MetalGreymon. The Dragon Deva flies down to finish him off. "Get ready to be sent to Hell!" He was about to grab MetalGreymon by the throat, but he grabs him first.
"Not if I send you there first!" MetalGreymon said. He opens his chest. "Giga Storm!" MetalGreymon unleashes his attack and it struck Majiramon greatly. Majiramon screamed as he dissolves into bits of data. Once the fight was over, MetalGreymon reverts back to Agumon. "The dragon has been slayed."
"I don't know what I would have done if you haven't helped me out, guys. But thanks for reaching out to me," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu beamed.
"You gave a chance. There would still be a Team Rocket if ya hadn't come along," Meowth said.
"And none of us would have been friends," Agumon said.
"I'll forget that again," Sora promised. An eyeball portal appears and Sora, Pikachu, Meowth, Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, and Gomamon all went through.
Outside, another orb on Sakkakumon goes out. What else might happen while inside of Sakkakumon? And who will attack who next? Just you wait and see.
