Episode 406: Ursula Rides Again!
After meeting Tai, Kari, Matt, TK, Sara, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, Davis, Amy, Yolei, Ken, and Cody after so long, the Digimon has hit it off with them better than Sora would have thought he would. Mimi came up with an idea about having a couples tag battle starting with TK and Kari against Lucas and Dawn. Then it was Matt and Mimi against Ken and Yolei, and finally, it was Tai and Sara against Sora and Kairi. So now they had arrived in Daybreak Town for Dawn to earn her fifth and final Ribbon to enter the Grand Festival.
Since they were so close to Sunyshore City, Sora exchanged Heatran, Latios, Infernape, and Empoleon for Gastrodon, Hippowdon, Garchomp, and Toxicroak. Sora decided to have some training down for the upcoming Gym battle when he is approached by a young man. He has a red afro and grey eyes. He has a black choker around his neck and wore a yellow t-shirt with a high collar and grey baggy trousers. He also wore sandals.
"Those are very impressive Pokémon you have," the young man said.
"Thanks. They do some nice work," Sora turned to him.
"Say, aren't you Sora? That Pokémon League Champion everyone has been talking about?" The young man asked.
"Yeah," Sora replied.
"I thought so. I heard about you from Lucian and Aaron. I'm Flint," he introduced himself.
"Flint? As the Elite Four's Flint?" Sora asked. "You train Fire Type Pokémon."
"That's right," Flint said. "Are you training for the Daybreak Pokémon Contest?"
"No, I'm training for my Gym Battle. My girlfriend, our friends, and I are supporting a friend," Sora said.
"I thought you were a challenger for the Gym. I could tell just by looking at your Ground Types," Flint said. "And they looked well trained."
"Thanks," Sora said.
Over to Kairi and Angel, she was finishing making some Poffins for her Pokémon. She notices a young man sitting on a bench. He is a young blue-eyed man, who has spiky blonde hair. He wears a black T-shirt over his collared blue jacket, which has yellow details and black sleeves. He also wore black pants, and grey shoes, which have volt markings on the soles. He also has a chain around his left hip. She noticed how down he is looking and approached him.
"Excuse me," Kairi said. He looked right at her. "Are you okay?"
"Eevee?" Angel asked.
"Just sitting here," the young man said.
"I didn't mean to pry, but I just noticed how you looked so down," Kairi said.
"Well, since you noticed I'm feeling down. It's just no trainer is challenging nowadays," the young man said.
"What do you mean?" Kairi asked.
"Well, being a Gym isn't as thrilling as it used to be," the young man said. Kairi got wide-eyed when she heard him say that.
"You're a Gym Leader?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah, I'm the Gym Leader Volkner. Any chance are you a challenger?" Volkner asked.
"No, but my boyfriend is. In fact we're on our way to Sunyshore City to ask you for a Gym battle," Kairi said
"And I'm going to guess you're his personal cheerleader. I'm not accepting any challenges at the moment," Volkner said.
"Why not?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Like I said, the no one's a real challenge anymore. All the battles are too easy," Volkner said.
"Well, you might find that my boyfriend is a challenging trainer. If you watch him battle, you might change your mind," Kairi said.
"Okay, I'll hold you up for that. And your name is?" Volkner asked.
"Kairi," Kairi replied. "And this is Angel."
"Eevee," Angel said. Volkner smiled kindly.
"It's nice to meet you, Angel," Volkner said.
Kairi led Volkner outside. Ventus, Terra, Aqua, and Meowth were stepping outside to retieve Sora as the Digimon, Lucas and Dawn were getting to know Tai, Kari, and the others. Just then, Sora is approached by a trainer with a big hat.
"Hey, you Sora?" The trainer asked. "Yeah," Sora said.
"Good, because I have been looking for a challenge, and I just found one. And don't think that hanging around Flint of the Elite Four is going to help you none!" The trainer said.
"Didn't need it before," Sora said.
"How do you wanna do it?" Sora asked.
"Let's make it a four-on-four match!" The trainer suggested.
"I'm okay with that," Sora said.
"I like you attitude, Sora," Flint said. It was drawing the attention to a battle starting. Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Lucas, Dawn, Meowth, the Digimon Tai, Kari, their friends, Kairi, Angel, and Volkner has stepped out. Flint turned to Volkner.
"Hey, Volkner, I was wondering where you were all this time," Flint said.
"I didn't know you were looking for me, Flint," Volkner said. Kairi looked between the two.
"You two know each other?" Kairi asked.
"We both go way back," Volkner said.
"So, who is this?" Flint asked.
"I'm Kairi," Kairi introduced herself. "And this is Angel."
"Vee," Angel said.
"This is a healthy looking Eevee you got there," Flint said.
"Thanks," Kairi said. "Is something going on?" Kairi asked.
"A battle is just getting started and you're just in time," Flint said. She spotted Sora.
"Which on'es your boyfriend?" Volkner asked.
"The guy with the spiky hair," Kairi said. Volkner looked right at Sora and he eyed his Pikachu.
"His Pikachu reminds me of my younger days," Volkner said. The trainer made the first move, by taking out a Dusk Ball and threw it.
"Go! Liepard!" The trainer shouted. The Duskball had unleashed a quadrupedal mammalian Pokémon that resembles various felines, namely a leopard, a leopard cat, and a black panther. Its body is long, slender, and lithe, with powerfully built muscles. Its coat is mainly purple with small yellow rosettes speckling its back. Its undercoat, including its legs, chest, underbelly, and much of its face, are yellow. It has vivid pink "eyeshadow" around its slanted green eyes. Two long yellow whiskers protrude from either side of its face. Like Purrloin, its tail is somewhat hook shaped. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Liepard, the Cruel Pokémon
The evolved form of Purloin
Type: Dark
Don't be fooled by its gorgeous fur and elegant figure. This is a moody and vicious Pokémon. This stealthy Pokémon sneaks up behind prey without making any sound at all.
"And since it's a Dark Type, I know which one I'm using," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Toxicroak!" Toxicroak came on out to battle.
"Liepard! Night Slash!" The trainer ordered. Liepard came at Toxicroak with its paws emitting a dark aura.
"Dodge and use Brick Break!" Sora ordered. Toxicroak dodges and lands a hit with Brick Break. "Now, use Poison Jab!" Toxicroak moved in to deliever Poison Jab.
"Dodge and use Iron Tail!" The trainer ordered. Liepard avoids Poison Jab and landed a hit with Iron Tail. "Now, use Night Slash!" Liepard slashes at the toxic mouth Pokémon with another Night Slash.
"Toxicroak! Use Revenge!" Sora ordered. Toxicroak lands a strong hit with his Revenge, earning a knockout. He calls back Liepard and took out a regular Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn now, Blitzle!" The trainer called out. The Pokémon is a small quadruped equine Pokémon that resembles a young zebra. It has a mainly black coat covered in white stripes and a particularly spiky mane with a single lightning bolt-shaped cluster of hair sticking out between its small ears. Its tail is rather short for a hooved mammal. It has yellow and blue eyes and a very large black nose on its snout. Its small ears have blue insides. Sora took out his Pokédex again to scan it.
Blitzle, the Electrified Pokémon
Type: Electric
Its mane shines when it discharges electricity. They use the frequency and rhythm of these flashes to communicate. When thunderclouds cover the sky, it will appear.
Sora calls back his Toxicroak and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Hippowdon!" Sora called out, letting out his Hippowdon. Hippowdon has let out a mighty bellow upon entry.
"Blitzle! Use Flame Charge!" The trainer ordered. Blitzle charges towards the heavyweight Pokémon. It lands a hit with Hippowdon.
"Hippowdon! Use Sand Tomb!" Sora ordered. Hippowdon releases sand out of the holes on his back and digs into the ground. Bliztel became trapped within it.
"Dodge it, Blitzle!" The trainer ordered. Blitzle avoids Hippowdon's Sand Tomb just by jumping. "Now, use Double Kick!" Blitzle lands a powerful Dpuble Kick onto the hippo-like Pokémon. With that a successful hit, Blitzle started to evolve. Blitzle has transformed into a large equine Pokémon that resembles a zebra. It has a black coat with white lightning bolt-shaped stripes on its moderately fat body, a white spiky tail with a star-shaped tip, and somewhat a plump rump and thighs. Its small ears are blue inside, like Blitzle. Instead of one lightning bolt-shaped appendages on its head, it now carries two, and has a spikier mane that runs all the way down its back. Sora took out his Pokédex again and scanned the newly evolved Pokémon.
Zebstrika, the Thunderbolt Pokémon
The evolved form of Blitzle
Type: Electric
This ill-tempered Pokémon is dangerous because when it's angry, it shoots lightning from its mane in all directions. They have lightning-like movements. When Zebstrika run at full speed, the sound of thunder reverberates.
"Zebstrika, huh?" Sora asked.
"Zebstrika! Flame Charge!" The trainer ordered. Zebstrika ran towards Hippowdon with another Flame Charge and lands a hit onto Hippowdon. "Flame Charge again!" Zebstrika darts right into Hippowdon and goes down. Sora calls back Hippowdon.
"Get some rest, Hippowdon, you did your best," Sora said. The trainer calls Zebstrika back and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn, Phantump!" The trainer called out. Out of the Pokéball came a ghostly Pokémon that resembles a haunted tree stump. It has a large cylindrical head made of wood, with small twisted branches with tiny green leaves growing from either side. It has large, circular black eyes with red pupils and a tiny round mouth. Its body is a black wisp with two tiny stubby arms. It has a shadowy black wisp curling from the top of its small wooden head. Sora took out his Pokédex again.
Phantump, the Stump Pokémon
Type: Ghost/Grass
These Pokémon are created when spirits possess rotten tree stumps. They prefer to live in abandoned forests. According to old tales, these Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died while lost in the forest.
"Creepy," Sora said. Sora looked right at Pikachu.
"You're up, Pikachu!" Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said. Pikachu stepped in to battle.
"Phantump! Use Shadow Ball!" The trainer ordered. Phantump forms a ball of shadows and threw it at the mouse Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu avoids Phantump's Shadow Ball and lands a hit with Iron Tail. Phantump has been taken down.The trainer calls back his Phantump and took out a regular Pokéball and held it close. Volkner was impressed by Sora's battling skills. The trainer threw the Pokéball hard.
"Go! Excadrill!" The trainer called out. Out came a chubby bipedal mole-like Pokémon with dark brown fur. It has short legs, a plump, swollen belly with three red stripes on it, surfboard-shaped arms with three-fingered hands, and a hump on its back where its head meets its shoulders. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Excadrill, the Subterrene Pokémon
The evolved form of Drilbur
Type: Ground/Steel
Known as the Drill King, this Pokémon can tunnel through the terrain at speeds of over 90 mph. It's not uncommon for tunnels that appear to have formed naturally to actually be a result of Excadrill's rampant digging.
"A Ground Type and a Steel Type. I have just the one with the two Types to counter that!" Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Gastrodon!" Gastrodon came on out to battle.
"Excadrill! Use Metal Claw" The trainer ordered. Excadrill comes towards the east sea slug Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Muddy Water!" Sora ordered. Gastrodon dodges and fires Muddy Water at the subterrene Pokémon. "Now, use Mud Bomb!"
"Dig!" The trainer ordered.
Excadrill jumps into the air and puts its arms up by its head, forming its body into a drill. It then rotates its body quickly and drills underground.
"Gastrodon! Use your Earthquake!" Sora ordered. The trainer winced as Gastrodon shook the ground. It forces Excadrill out. "Water Pulse!" Gastrodon unleashed Water Pulse and lands a heavy blow onto the subterrene Pokémon, earning a knockout.
Everyone applauded for Sora as he won the battle. Volkner was impressed.
"You weren't kidding, Kairi. Your boyfriend is even better than you said he is," Volkner said.
"Just as I told you," Kairi said. The two trainers shook hands as he congratulated Sora.
"Good job, Sora. You're more skillful than I thought you were," the trainer said.
"Back at you," Sora said.
The trainer took his leave as Volkner walked up to Sora.
"Hey," Volkner said. Sora turned to the Sunyshore Gym Leader.
"Hey there. What's up?" Sora asked.
"I was just watching your battle, and I was impressed. So, I was wondering how you would fare against me and my Electric Types," Volkner said. Sora looked right at him wide-eyed.
"Wait a minute! You and your Electric Types?" Sora asked.
"Yes. I'm Volkner the Sunyshore City Gym Leader. So how about it?" Volkner asked.
"I think it's me who's supposed to challenge you. But I would like to battle you in a Gym battle," Sora said.
"And I accept. Do what you did in that battle and you'll do fine," Volkner said.
With that settled, Volkner and Flint left for Sunyshore City to prepare for the Gym battle. Sora looked over to Kairi and he went up to her.
"I have a feeling you had something to do with it," Sora said. Kairi grinned innocently.
"I couldn't know what you mean," Kairi said. Sora giggled as Kairi hugged him close. He hugs her back.
A little bit later, Dawn has decided to get some more practice ready before the upcoming Contest the next day.
"Alright! Ready for some more training?" Dawn asked. Her Pokémon responded happily.
"You're going to do great, Dawn," Aqua said.
"I know I am. This is a Contest I can't afford to lose," Dawn said. She spotted Ursula along with a Plusle and Minun. She froze in place, looking at them. "Oh no." The group all looked at her. "Oh no! No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!"
"Not this again," Lucas said. Ursula turns around and spotted the group. She spotted Sora with them.
"Sora!" Ursula said in a loving tone. She approached him. "I haven't seen you since the Chocovine Contest! And I have been thinking about you so much!"
"That's great, I'm flattered," Sora said nervously. Amy leaned towards Terra and Aqua.
"Who's she?" Amy asked.
"That would be Ursula. She's a Pokémon Coordinator same same as Dawn and Kairi. We met her a few times, and she has a thing for Sora, despite his relationship with Kairi," Aqua said.
"A love triangle, huh?" Amy asked.
"Except, Sora isn't going to leave Kairi for anyone," Terra said.
"I want you to know that I will be dedicating my next Contest win for you, Sora," Ursula said, lovingly.
"I think you're nice, but the thing is, and I think I'll be repeating myself, I already have a girlfriend," Sora said.
"But I doubt she would be any good for you," Ursula said. She looked right at Kairi. "So, Kairi, how many Ribbons did you win so far?"
"I have all five of mine," Kairi said.
"What?! You won five already?!" Ursula exclaimed. She looked right at Dawn. "So, Dawn, you competing in the Daybreak Town Contest?"
"I sure am. I have been training hard for this," Dawn said.
"And how many Ribbons do you have?" Ursula asked.
"Just four," Dawn replied.
"Well, isn't that a coincidence?" Ursula asked.
"Duh, it's going to be me! We have been practicing hard for tomorrow," Dawn said. Piplup, Cyndaquil and Mamoswine agreed with her.
"Yeah, yeah, you've been practing hard, fine. But your best won't nearly be enough to beat us. So meet the two ace Pokémon that I will be using for my fifth Contest win. Meet Plusle and Minun!" Ursula said. Dawn froze again.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!" Dawn cried.
"What are you going on about?" Sora asked.
"It's a long story," Lucas said.
"How rude! If you keep that up, you'll hurt their feelings," Ursula said.
"Sorry," Dawn apologized.
"I know, as a special treat, I'll personally show you a taste of Plusle and Minun's performance. Now, pay attention and you will feel major happiness and joy," Ursula said. And that was their cue to emit electricity on their wrists. "Plusle and Minun, jump!" Plusle and Minun jumped in the air, making Dawn scream. Plusle and Minun did a dance near Dawn, making her shiver. Lucas remembered what happened before and he pulled her close to him.
"I gotcha, Dawn!" Lucas said, holding her close. She blushed heavily. "That was close. You okay?"
"Yeah. Thanks," Dawn said. The of them blushed.
A little bit later, Dawn was still holding onto Lucas. He could tell she was shaken up about what seeing Plusle and Minun before.
"You sure you're okay, Dawn?" Lucas asked.
"Yes I am," Dawn said.
"Just making sure," Lucas said. "Sorry for asking again."
"No, I'm sorry to cling to you like this," Dawn said.
"Something tells me this happened before," Ken said.
"Yeah, what's up?" Terra asked.
"It was weird when you were freaked when you saw them," Sora said.
"Maybe, it was when we weren't with her, so she tried to catch Plusle and Minun before and couldn't," Ventus said.
"No, Ven, it wasn't like that," Dawn said.
"What happened?" Kairi asked.
"You want me to tell them or should I let you?" Lucas asked.
"I'll tell them," Dawn said. She took a big breath as she let out a heavy sigh. "It all started back in kindergarten. Kenny, Leona, and I were given the job as Pokémon caretakers."
"Pokémon caretakers?" Agumon asked.
"Our class had a Plusle and Minun. As Pokémon caretakers, it was our job to give them their Pokémon food, make sure they always had fresh water, and cleaned their playpen, everyday. One day, I was chasing after Plusle and Minun, trying to get them under control. Leona and Kenny told me that they didn't like it one bit, but as usual, I said, no need to worry, but they gave me quite a shock, and my hair shot straight up and my hair was sparkling like a diamond," Dawn said.
"Sparkling like a diamond?" TK asked.
"Yeah. They looked like diamond dandruff, so that's what they called me from that day on," Dawn said.
"And that's the origin of Dee Dee," Sora pointed out.
"You guessed right, Sora. Before long, that's what everyone in my class started to call me; everyone except for Lucas," Dawn said. "Because I loved them, I don't understand why they would do something so awful to me like that."
"It's nothing to be ashamed of, Dawn. You remember Lillie, right?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, what about her?" Dawn asked.
"Well, she used to be afraid to touch Pokémon because of an incident of an Ultra Beast when one of them tried to take her into their world," Sora said.
"Seriously?" Dawn asked.
"It's true," Kairi said. "Sora and I couldn't believe it ourselves. But hearing from your story, it sounds like you did something to set them off. Pokémon don't do those things unless they're provoked." Dawn looked right at her.
"I would have to agree. The reason they zapped you was because you were chasing after them in the first place," Izzy said.
"It was my fault. I never thought of that before," Dawn said.
"It was a big deal back then, but it's not now," Ventus said.
"He's right. We can help you out, Dawn," Aqua said.
"Besides, Kairi has a Plusle and Minun, so she'll be able to help you conquer them," Ventus said.
"That's right," Kairi said, taking out her Pokémon Box and she exchanged Purugly and Vespiquen for Plusle and Minun. Unknown to anyone, Ursula was listening on their talk.
"That story sure was cute. Thanks a lot, Dee Dee," Ursula laughed.
A little later, Dawn was shiviering in fright at the sight of Kairi's Plusle and Minun, but Kairi has assured her that nothing will happen to her. Dawn did try to pet them, but back up against the wall every time. It took just about a few hours, but Kairi was far from giving up. Dawn had to give it all she had, so she finally to conquer her fears of Plusle and Minun. THe two of them loved Dawn as much as they loved Kairi.
On the very next day, it was time for the Daybreak Contest and it was Dawn's chance to earn her fifth Contest Ribbon.
"The cheers and excitment is about to begin! It can only mean one thing! It's time to get ready for the Daybreak Town Pokémon Contest! The waiting is finally over, and you will soon see it was all worth it! Ladies and gentlemen, as you all know we are coming to you live from Daybreak Town! The town of the morning light! It's been a while since we had a double performance, so sit back and enjoy the magnificent skills and our Pokémon tag teams as they wow you with torrents of talents! And remember, double performances means double the drama and double the dazzle! And just take a look at winning Pokémon Contest Coordinator will recieve! The beautiful and prestigious Daybreak Ribbon!" Marian announced, holding up the Contest Ribbon. "It is my distinct honor to introduce you to our panel of judges! First, our head judge, Mr. Contesta!"
"Thank you. And hello. I am certain today's performances will thrill us all!" Contesta announced.
"The president of our Pokémon Fan Club, Mr. Suziko!" Marian announced.
Double performaces are remarkable!" Suziko said.
"And finally, Hearthome City's Gym Leader, Fantina!" Marian announced.
"Merci for having me here. I am looking forward in seeing how well our Coordinators shall impress us today!" Fantina said.
"Please allow me to introduce myself! I am your humble host Marian!" Marian announced as the crowd cheered. Lucas stood in the back with Dawn.
"You know, you could be sitting with Sora, Kairi, and everyone else," Dawn said.
"I know, but I wanna be here," Lucas said.
"Thanks, Lucas," Dawn said, blushing.
"You came a long way since you got started, but I know you're going to win it. I know it," Lucas said.
"Thanks," Dawn said. She places Piplup's Pokéball in a Ball Capsule and placed a Star Seal. Plusle and Minun jumped on Dawn's arms and she looked right at them. "Oh hello."
"That's not what she was supposed to say! She was supposed to scream," Ursula said. Lucas turned around and glared at her.
"Ursula, can't you control these two?" Lucas asked.
"Excuse me?" Ursula asked.
"I know what you're trying to do. You've been trying to upstage Dawn and you're trying to steal Sora from Kairi, but all I can say is enough is enough!" Lucas stated. Ursual didn't like his tone.
"So, what's your point?" Ursula asked.
"My point is you need to back the hell off! And quit trying to get Sora to break up with Kairi, because the day Grimer and Trubbish are smelling like a bed of flowers, it's not going to happen!" Lucas said. "Also, in my own opinion, Sora would never be caught dead with a snob like you!" Lucas said.
"How dare you talk to me like that!" Ursula said. She huffed.
"And now, it's time for our first performance! It's Brianna!" Marian announced, as a female Coordinator came out, in a harem outfit. She uses her telepathic powers to lift two Pokéballs in the air and unleashed two new Pokémon from Pokéballs sealed in Ball Capsules with a blue and lime green music note on each of them. One of them a small quadrupedal tapir-like Pokémon. It has a round pink body with purple flower designs on its back. It has tiny stubby limbs. It floats around without touching the ground and has a small trunk-like snout. The circular opening on its trunk emits purple dream mist. Its eyes are ovular and red with small black lashes. The other one is a round-bodied Pokémon that resembles a tapir. It has a long snout, round ovular eyes with red pupils (only seen when it is awake), small pink dots below its eyes and an ovular opening between its eyes that emits a thick plume of dream mist while it sleeps. The upper half of its body is pastel light pink, and its lower half is violet. It has stubby arms and legs with pink tips.
"Now, who are those Pokémon?" Sora asked, taking out his Pokédex.
Munna, the Dream Eater Pokémon
Type: Psychic
It eats dreams and releases mist. The mist is pink when it's eating a good dream, and black when it's eating a nightmare. Late at night, it appears beside people's pillows. As it feeds on dreams, the patterns on its body give off a faint glow.
Musharna, the Drowsing Pokémon
The evolved form of Munna
Type: Psychic
When dark mists emanate from its body, don't get too near. If you do, your nightmares will become reality. It drowses and dreams all the time. It's best to leave it be if it's just woken up, as it's a terrible grump when freshly roused from sleep.
Brianna begins to play her flute as pink mist emits from the both of Munna and Musharna. Musharna starts off with building power into its body and unleashed it in a form of a pinkish violet beam. Munna then, unleashed Psybeam and it collides with Stored Power.
"Brianna's Munna and Musharna wows us all with a use of Stored Power and Psybeam!" Marian announced.
"The use of Munna and Musharna's powers is one of the most wonderful I have ever seen!" Contesta said.
"Munna and Musharna are both remarkable!' Suziko said.
"I have seen the true beauty of Psychic Type Pokémon here!" Fantina said.
"And now, it's time for our next contestant!" Marian announced. The Contest went on as the performances as two Pokémon from each Coordinator has given off their talents. "And now, it's time for our next contestant! Dawn!" Dawn came out with her two Pokéballs in hand. Both are with Ball Capsules and has Star Seals.
"Piplup, Buneary! Spotlight!" Dawn called out. Buneary and Piplup came out with pink and blue stars erupting from the Pokéballs.
"Great! Piplup and Buneary gave off a wonderful and lively entrance to the crowd!" Marian announced.
"Now, Piplup! Bubble Beam!" Dawn ordered. Piplup starts things up by firing Bubble Beam all over the stage. "And Buneary! Ice Beam!" Buneary fires Ice Beam and froze the bubbles and they float up in the air.
"Amazing! Buneary's Ice Beam has frozen Piplup's Bubble Beam in the frozen bubbles are floating around here like balloons!" Marian announced.
"Way to go, Dawn!" Kairi cheered.
"Let's see what else she's got," Tai said.
"Buneary! Use Bounce!" Dawn ordered. Buneary uses Bounce to jump on the frozen bubbles like trampolines. This has the crowd going wild. "Piplup, Buneary, good job! Keep it up!"
"Talk about fancy footwork! Not only has Buneary's Bounce and Piplup's Bubble Beam in an unusual combination moves, it has me going do-re-mi!" Marian announced.
"Way to go, Dawn!" Lucas cheered for his crush.
"Alright, Buneary! Let's go!" Dawn cheered. Buneary spins around and pops all the bubbles one by one. "Now, Piplup, use Peck!" Piplup did the same thing, and both their spins gave off a dazzling sparkle. The crowd was captivated. "You two were awesome! I have never seen such amazing teamwork like you just showed!"
"I simply could not take my eyes off of Piplup and Buneary's performance! What a tag team!" Contesta said.
"Piplup and Buneary are both remarkable!" Suziko added.
"And who would have expected them to play such a tune? It was so much fun!" Fantina said.
"Let's keep moving with even more fun! Next entrant! Ursula!" Marian announced. And Ursula has made her entrance on stage.
"And here comes today's main attraction," Ursula said, holding out a Pokéball with a Floral Seal in a Ball Capsule. "Okay, Gabite! Now, let's go!" And Gabite has made her entry with pink flower petals all around. Ursula has taken out another Pokéball with a Heart Seal. "And Jigglypuff! You too!" A heart has come out and then takes the form of Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff jumps onto Gabite's claw while doing a spin.
"Gabite's speed and Jigglypuff's round body makes quite a team! We should be seeing quite a performance!" Marian announced. Jigglypuff stops spinning around and does a pose.
"Jigglypuff! Use Rollout!" Ursula ordered. Jiggly rolls into a ball and rolls onto Gabite's shoulders. Gabite then tosses Jiggly up.
"And Bagite gracefull directs Jigglypuff's Rollout with its shoulders!" Marian announced.
"Alright, Gabite! Iron Tail!" Ursula ordered. Jigglypuff rolls down Gabite's back and sends it flying with Iron Tail. "Now, Gabite, time to use Stone Edge!" Gabite unleashed Stone Edge right at the balloon Pokémon. "Jigglypuff! Use Hyper Voice!" Jigglypuff unleashed Hyper Voice and it shatters the stones, creating sparkles.
"A bold performance reminiscent in the battle round, and yet so beautiful!" Marian announced.
"Jigglypuff! Use Gyro Ball!" Ursua spins around into Gry Ball and heads right towards Gabite. "Gabite! Use Sand Tomb!" Gabite uses Sand Tomb and Gyro Ball collides with the sand, making more sparkles.
"Unbelieveable! A calsh between Gyro Ball and Sand Tomb has created a brilliant glow!" Marian announced.
"Time to finish this up! Gabite! Dragon Claw!" Ursula ordered. Gabite readies Dragon Claw and Jigglypuff, still using Gyro Ball, places itself on her claw.
"My! Gabite caught Jigglypuff on top of its Dragon Claw!" Marian announced. The crowd starts cheering. "And theier performance comes full circle, the same pose they started with!" Ursula walked up to her two Pokémon.
"Gabite, Jigglypuff, thank you," Ursula said.
"Gabite and Jigglypuff's performance were perfectly in synch! It was truly brilliant!" Contesta said.
"And not to mention remarkable, too!" Suziko added.
"I was so in awe in the way their combination moves has demonstrated their talent and poise," Fantina said.
"And that puts an end to our first round! Our next job is to see who will move on in round 2! So be patient while the results are caculated!" Marian announced.
"You did a great job, Dawn," Lucas said.
"Thank you, Lucas," Dawn said. "That's so kind of you. And thanks for standing up to Ursula for me."
"Well, someone has to put her in her place. And it's up to you to keep her there," Lucas said.
"Our long wait is finally over! It's time to find out who's going on to round 2! Our judges has decided that the eight talented Coordinators competing in Round 2 are..." Marian announced as the computer has made the selection, "... up on our screen!" Dawn, Ursula, and Brianna has made it to the second round of the contest.
"Looks like we both made it to the second round again. Just be sure that you don't lose before facing me," Ursula said.
"I plan on walking away with that Ribbon," Dawn said.
The first battle of the second round is baout to begin. First was Ursua and her opponent is Brianna. Brianna has a Sylveon and a small, rodent-like Pokémon. Most of its round, pudgy body is a vibrant orange color, and it has a cream-colored belly. It has a very long, black, wire-like tail and spiny, black whiskers on its reddish-orange cheek patches. It has small oval ears that are black on the outside with cream-colored insides. It has small, black eyes, a tiny black nose, and small, sharp incisor teeth. Its feet and paws are short and stubby, with tiny digits. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned it.
Dedenne, the Antenna Pokémon
Type: Electric/Fairy
Its whiskers serve as antennas. By sending and receiving electrical waves, it can communicate with others over vast distances. It uses its tail to absorb electricity from power plants or from outlets in houses, and then it fires the electricity from its whiskers.
"A Dedenne," Sora said.
"The Double Performances have seen here in this Contest has been thrilling! Now, on our second challenge, we our Pokémon Double battles! To my right it's Ursula, and to my left, it's Brianna! With five minutes on the clock! Begin!" Marian announced. The clock runs.
"Dedenne! Use Super Fang!" Sylveon! Use Fairy Wind!" Brianna ordered. Svilveon unleashed Fiary Wind and Dedenne's teeth are mixing with it and then comes at Plusle and Minun with a Super Fang and Fairy Wind combo.
"Plusle! Minun! Use Spark!" Ursula ordered. Plusle and Minun unleashed Spark right and the same time and they collide with Dedenne with a firework display. Brianna loses a quarter of her points. "Sorry to bring you bad news, but this just a warm-up!"
"Dedenne! Electro Web! Sylveon! Use Moonblast!" Brianna ordered. Dedenne unleashed Electroweb as Sylveon unleashed Moonblast and they collided into a mixture of pink and yellow.
"Helping Hand!" Ursula ordered. Plusle and Minun has combined their Heloing Hand onto each other. "Now, use Spark!" Plusle and Minun jumped right in for Spark and they cut right through the Elctroweb and Moonblast combo and landed a heavy hit. This earned a double knockout.
"Both of Dedenne and Sylveon are both unable to battle! Ursula is moving right on!" Marian announced. There were some other battles that raged on. Coordinators with a Slakoth and a Shroomish went against a Coordinator with a Lickilicki and a Weavile, and then a Coordinator with a Togetic and an Ivysaur went against a Stantler and a Magcargo. Dawn has gone against a Coordinator with a Houndoom and a Mightyena. Dawn has won over that Coordinator. Ursula and Dawn has won over the other two Coordinators, and now it was the battle against Ursula at last. "Our battles in the semi-finals are now complete! We're now moving on to the final stage! And it's Dawn and Ursula!" The crowd cheered for the battle to start. "Now, it's the moment you've all been waiting for! The Daybreak Town Contest final round! To my right, Ursula, to my left, Dawn! Five minutes on the clock! Begin now!" The clock starts running. Dawn took out two of her Pokéballs in Ball Capsules with yellow EleSeals
"Mamoswine and Cyndaquil! It's time! Spotlight!" Dawn called out. Mamoswine and Cyndaquil both came out with sparks raining down. Cyndaquil's back starts burning hotly upon entry. Ursula took out two of her Pokéballs in Ball Capsules with pink Floral Seals.
"Plusle, Minun! Let's go!" Ursula called out. Both of Plusle and Minun has both emrged from their Pokéballs with flower petals going around.
"Mamoswine! Ice Shard!" Dawn ordered. Mamoswine makes a shard of ice. "Now, Cyndaquil!" Cyndaquil sends the Ice shard straight up to the air.
"Cyndaquil's flames makes the Ice Shard shine a striking crimson! What a combination! Perfect for this double performance!" Marian announced.
"Mamoswine! Go for it!" Dawn called out. Mamoswine jumps right into the air, much to Ursula's surprise.
"Huh? With that huge body?!" Ursula exclaimed. Mamoswine swallows Ice Shard. The fur on Mamoswine's body created icicle spikes. Ursula has lost a small sum of points.
"Not bad," Ursula said.
"Alright Cyndaquil! It's your turn! Swift! Let's go!" Dawn ordered. Cyndaquil uleashed Swift right at Mamoswine. And they all go around Mamoswine.
"And the stars from that swift are circling Mamoswine!" Marian announced. Ursula has lost some more points. With the stars going around Mamoswine. Cyndaquil jumps on the icicle on Mamoswine's forehead and burns fiercely.
"Mamoswine! Take Down!" Dawn ordered. Mamoswine charges towards Plusle and Minun with Cyndaquil riding along Mamoswine.
"Mamoswine is charging towards Cyndaquil with Cyndaquil on its back!" Marian announced. "Cyndaquil's flames contrasts beautiflly with that ice!"
"Go for it, Dawn!" Sora said.
"Plusle and Minun!Get ready to jump!" Ursula called out. Plusle and Minun jumps and avoids Mamoswine's Take Down.
"And with a leap, Plusle and Minun avoid Take Down!" Marian announced. Dawn has lost some of her points. Mamoswine stops charging and the ice, stars, and flames vanish as Cyndaquil jumps off.
"Plusle and Minun! Use Encore!" Ursula ordered. Plusle and Minun raises their hands and a white orb of energy appears between them. Plusle and Minun then fires the orb at Cyndaquil and Mamoswine. When the orb landed a hit, both of their bodies sparkles white. Dawn has lost some more points.
"Perfect," Ursula said.
"What was that move just now?" Hawkmon asked.
"That was a move called Encore. It's a move that prevents the opposing Pokémon from using moves except for the last ones that are used. Moves like Transform, Mimic, Sketch, Mirror Move or another use of Encore are exceptions," Izzy said.
"Shall we steal the show?" Ursula asked.
"Mamoswine! Ice Shard! Cyndaquil! Use Flame Wheel!" Dawn ordered. Instead of Ice Shard and Flame Wheel, Mamoswine used Take Down and Cyndaquil has used Swift, much to the dismay of Dawn, Mamswine, and Cyndaquil. "Are they using the same moves as last time?!"
"That should be obvious, Dee Dee. Your Pokémon can repeat their last moves as long as Encore is in effect," Ursula said.
"This is bad for Dawn," Ventus said.
"Plusle and Minun! Helping Hand!" Ursula ordered. Plusle and Minun used Helping Hand on each other and increased their attack strength.
"Plusle and Minun are using Helping Hand in the face of Take Down and Swift!" Marian announced.
"Charge Beam! Go!" Ursula ordered. Plusle and Minun fired Charge Beam and both of Dawn's Pokémon has taken a heavy hit, making Dawn lose some more points.
"And finishing with an enduring pose, Plusle and Minun uses Charge Beam to execute a stunning attack!" Marian announced.
"Man, this is going to be hard for Dawn," Matt said.
"All because it's a five minute battle, Dawn is good as stuck the same moves," Sara said.
"Plusle and Minun! Spark, let's go!" Ursula ordered. Plusle and Minun are both using Spark on Cyndaquil and Mamoswine.
"Cyndaquil and Mamoswine are blocked from using new moves, and can't do a thing to stop that combined Spark attack!" Marian announced. Dawn has lost some more points.
"Mamoswine, Cyndaquil! Dodge! Dawn called out. Mamoswine and Cyndaquil ended up using Take Down and Swift again.
"I'll just keep taking as many points from Dee Dee as I can. Plusle and Minun, dodge those attacks with style!" Ursula called out. Mamoswine and Cyndaquil got hit by Plusle and Minun with style. Plusle and Minun! Spark!" Plusle and Minun has taken a bad hit and head right back at Dawn, making her hair frizzle up agaun, making her hair sparkle. Lucas was watching from the back and he was aghast from what he was seeing.
"No, not that!" Lucas gasped. Ursula took this moment to gloat at Dawn's misfortune.
"That's some hairdo! To think I got to see Daimond Dandruff in person!" Ursula gloated. Dawn flet her hair and she screamed.
"Dawn, get it together! The battle's not over yet!" Lucas called out to his crush.
"I can't believe it and right in front of these people," Dawn said to herself. She looked right at Mamoswine and Cyndaquil and they saw how much they believe in her. She made this realization. "Right, it's only their attacks that are blocked, but not their spirit.They can still move." She had this idea, and hoped it'll work. "Mamoswine! Use Take Down on Cyndaquil! Cyndaquil! Use Swift on Mamoswine!" Sora, Kairi, Ursula, Cyndaquil, Mamoswine, Plusle and Minun were dumbfounded by what Dawn told them to do. Mamoswine nodded as they understood. Cyndaquil fires Seift at Mamoswine.
"They're still being blocked by Encore, but now, they're attacking each other! The look on our judges' faces tells it all!" Marian announced. The judges were giving serious looks. Dawn has lost some points.
"Well, this is sure a mess," Ursula said. Mamoswine lands a hit with Take Down, making Dawn lose some more points. Encore's effect has worn off.
"That Encore is history!" Dawn said.
"How?!" Ursula exclaimed.
"Encore can only block attacks, but not spirit. And that sprit came right from the heart!" Dawn said.
"Not bad, Dee Dee. You used the only moves you could use to break free from Encore's hold!" Ursula said. But it doesn't matter because you're almost out of time. Plusle and Minun! Use Charge Beam!" Plusle and Minun prepares to use Charge Beam right at the two Pokémon, but they both dodged, much to Ursula's frustration.
"The only way we're going to win this is with Flame Ice and no need to worry! Because the two of you can do it! Cyndaquil! Flame Wheel!" Cyndaquil uses Flame Wheel and goes right up. "Mamoswine! Ice Shard!" Mamoswine uses Ice Shard and sends it right at the ball of fire. "Do it!" Cyndaquil comes down faster like a frozen meteor once Flame Ice has taken effect. "That's a perfect Flame Ice!"
"Incredible! That Flame Wheel is actually inside the Ice Shard!, shining with a dazzling light! Truly beautiful!" Marian announced. Ursula has lost some moves. Cyndaquil turns up the heat and lands a hit.
"Plusle! Minun! Spark!" Ursula ordered.
"Smokescreen!" Dawn ordered. Cyndaquil uses Smokescreen to block Spark, and they both fell to the ground. "Mamoswine! Use Hidden Power!" Mamoswine unleashed Hidden Power and lands a hit onto Minun. "Cyndaquil! Use Swift!" Cyndaquil unleashed Swift and struck them both.
"We're not finished! Use Spark!" Ursula ordered. Just when Plusle and Minun were about to unleash Spark, the time runs out.
"And that's it! Time! And the winner of the final stage is..." Marian paused as Dawn has more points than Ursula, "Dawn!" The crowd cheered on. "Our champion has manged to pull off a stunning Daybreak Town Contest victory!" The crowd cheering continues.
"We won! We won!" Dawn cheered. Ursula picked up Plusle and Minun.
"Oh, Plusle and Minun, you two are the best," Ursula said. She glared at her opponent. "Once again, she made the time limit work for her." Sher turns around. "HMPH!"
"And now, our head judge, Mr. Contesta, will present our winner the Daybreak Town Contest Ribbon!" Marian announced.
"Congratulations, Dawn. I understand that this is your fifth Contest Ribbon, correct?" Contesta asked.
"Yes," Dawn said.
"We are looking forward in seeing you in the Grand Festival," Contesta said.
"No need to worry, because I plan on giving it everything I've got in the Grand Festival," Dawn said.
"That brings this year's exciting Daybreak Pokémon Contest to an end! And as usual, we'll be seeing you next time!" Marian announced.
After the Contest has concluded, Kairi went to congratulate her. Dawn turned with a smile.
"Hey, Kairi. Looks like we both qualify for the Grand Festival, huh?" Dawn asked.
"It sure does. It kinda reminds me of the very first Grand Festival I entered in," Kairi said.
"Yeah. I remembered seeing you using your Plusle and Minun against Soledad. I was shocked that you would use those two, no pun intended, but I was amazed you were able to beat a Coordinator as good as her," Dawn said.
"To be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to win it, but I had fun. I won it because I had Sora, my friends, my family, and my Pokémon to back me up," Kairi said.
"You were a huge inspriration on my life, Kairi. And I think I might have said this before, but I was captivated by how beautiful you are," Dawn said.
"Thanks," Kairi said. "And if we do face off in the Grand Festival, just know I won't go easy on you just because we're friends."
"i wouldn't have it any other way, Kairi," Dawn said, shaking hands. "Ad thanks for helping me conquer my fears of Plusle and Minun, yesterday."
"That's what you do for a friend. You help each other out," Kairi said. Ursula was listening to them both.
"Act all friendly like all you want, but I will mop the floor with you and win the Grand Festival," Ursula said.
Everyone all stepped outside and congratulated Dawn for her win.
"So, now that you have five Ribbons, that means, we'll see you in the Grand Festival," Yolei said.
"Are you going to be there?" Dawn asked.
"We'll be there to cheer you on," Cody said.
"The same for Kairi there. And for Sora when he enters the Sinnoh Pokémon League," Kari said.
"But before that, I'm going to need my eighth Gym Badge and enter right in," Sora said.
"Since you made the challenge first, Sora, I'll have to train for it. And I'll be looking forward in seeing you there," Lucas said.
"Likewise," Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon said their goodbyes to their friends until they meet again. Sora's next Gym battle is just around the corner and the excitement fills the air.
Orignally, I was going to have Sora's battle after the Grand Festival, but I decided that it was too soon for the Grand Festival, so I move the Gym battle ahead of schedue. So, be sure to look forward to it. Until then...
