Episode 413: Sinnoh Pokémon League Unleashed!
A few weeks has passed since the Grand Festival. It didn't take long for Kairi's name to spread all over the Sinnoh region. Pumpkinmon, Gotsumon, and The FanBeemonall got autographs from Kairi and they went back home in the Digital World since the war was over and Myotismon is no longer posing a threat to anyone. Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Lucas, Dawn, Cattleya, Pikachu, Eevee, Azurill, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon amde their way towards Lily of the Valley Island to get to the tournament.
On the way over, the group all came across a young man with red hair tied into a ponytail, with a yellow stripe. He has red eyes. He wore a red T-shirt with a black design, black baggy shorts and black shoes with red outlines.
"Hey dudes! Where are you all heading?" The young man asked.
"We're on our way to Lily of the Valley Island," Ventus said.
"Lily of the Velley Island? That's where the SInnoh Pokémon League is being held. Are any of you dudes entering?" The young man asked.
"He is," Riku said, pointing to Sora.
"Cool. The name's Buck by the way," Buck introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you, Buck. I'm Sora. This is my girlfriend Kairi along with my cousin Ventus, Ven for short," Sora introduced.
"Nice to meet you," Kairi said. "This little cutie here is Angel."
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Hi!" Ventus greeted.
"My name is Cattleya, I'm Ventus's mother," Cattleya said.
"The name's Riku, and this is my girlfriend Naminé," Riku introduced himself.
"It's nice to meet you," Naminé said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Azurill," Azurill chirped.
""m Terra."
"And I'm Aqua."
"I'm Lucas."
"And my name's Dawn."
"I'm Meowth," Meowth said. Buck looked right at Meowth.
"Hey, a talking Meowth! Cool!" Buck excaimed.
"You're not the first one to say that," Sora said.
"So, Buck, what brings you here?" Cattleya asked.
"Just on my way for some treasure hunting. There are loads of stuff to get to," Buck said. "Anyway, I got to get to it! And good luck in the Sinnoh Pokémon League, dude!"
"And good luck in your treasure hunt!" Sora said.
With that settled, the group continued on their way to Lily of the Valley Island. A few days later, the group made a stop as Sora has been training his team for the tournament. As they were training, they come across Kenny.
"Hey you guys!" Kenny greeted. EVeryone all turned to see Kenny.
"Hey there, Kenny," Sora greeted. "Sorry about the Grand Festival." Kenny shook it off.
"Don't worry about that. Just gotta work hard for the next one," Kenny said.
"What brings you here, Kenny?" Riku asked.
"Two things. One I was wondering if I could have that battle we never got to finish? And it concerns Dawn," Kenny said. Dawn was wondering what Kenny has in mind.
"What?" Dawn asked.
"I think we save it for after I battle Sora," Kenny said.
"Sure," Dawn said. Kenny directs his attention on Sora.
"So, how about it? Since there aren't any more evil Digimon here to attack, I thought we could have the battle we never finished," Kenny said.
"Sure thing, Kenny. I do owe you that battle. So, same as last time?" Sora asked.
"I was thinking of one of your other Pokémon. Which ones do you have with you?" Kenny asked.
"I got a Torterra, an Infernape, an Emopleon, a Lucario, and a CInderace," Sora said.
"Great! You can use one of those!" Kenny said. Both of Kenny and Sora got into position for their battle. Sora thought hard who to use in battle and decided to go with Lucario. Sora and Kenny both took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Empoleon!" Kenny called out.
"Go! Lucario!" Sora called out.
Both of Lucario and Empoleon both emerged from their Pokéballs.
"Empoleon! Metal Claw!" Kenny ordered.
"Lucario! Double Team!" Sora ordered. Lucario made several images of himself. Empoleon swipes at the image.
"Lucario! Aura Sphere!" Sora ordered. Lucario formed Aura Sphere and hurls it right at the emperor Pokémon. Empoleon took a heavy hit. "Now, use Bone Club!" Lucario came at Empoleon with Bone Club. Lucario lands a hit.
"Empoleon! Flash Cannon! Fire at all of them until you find the original!" Kenny ordered. Empoleon unleashed Flash Cannon right the images of Lucario and he gets hit, making the remaining duplicates vanish. "Great! Now, use Hydro Cannon!" Empoleon fires Hydro Cannon right at the aura Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Force Palm!" Sora ordered. Lucario avoids Hydro Cannon and comes at Empoleon with Force Palm, landing a hit. "Again!" Lucario does so again with Force Palm again and again. "Now, Bone Club!" Lucario swings at Empoleon with Bone CLub. Empoleon fell to the ground, beaten. Kenny was awestruck and impressed at the same time.
"Not bad, Sora. I can see why you're a Pokémon League Champion. ou earned that rep," Kenny said. Sora smiled.
"Thanks, Kenny. I was glad I was able to impress you," Sora said, shaking Kenny's hand. Kenny sets his attention on Dawn.
"And here's the second reason for looking for you, Dawn," Kenny said. Dawn became curious about what he had to say.
"What?" Dawn asked.
"I was thinking of the two of us going on tour in Pokémon Contests! So, how about it? Wanna give it a shot?" Kenny asked. Dawn was surprised Kenny would consider her to join him. Kenny blushed. "The reason is, there's something I want to say to you, Dawn." He took a deep breath as he blushed. "The truth is, I had a crush on you since kindergarten, and I want us both to go on tour as a couple. The thing is, I'm in love with you, Dawn. So, hhow about it?" Dawn was shocked to hear Kenny had a crush on her, but she sighed heavily.
"I'm flattered, Kenny, but the thing is, I don't have any feelings for you," Dawn said, She took Lucas by the hand. "My feelings are for Lucas." Kenny was shocked to hear Dawn has been having feelings for Lucas and not him.
"OKay. But how about we put it to the test," Kenny said. Everyone looked at him confused.
"Put what to the test?" Lucas asked.
"A test to see which one of us deserves the right to being Dawn's boyfriend. We'll have a three-on-three battle," Kenny said.
"A battle?" Lucas asked.
"Right. We'll have it first thing tomorrow," Kenny said.
The challenge was made. It didn't look like Lucas could get out of it even if he wanted to, so he had to bare it anyway he could. He had to figure out on which one of his Pokémon he would use. Lucas decided to use his Gliscor, Torterra, and Staraptor. Over to Kenny, he decided to use his Empoleon, Breloom, and Machoke. On the very next day, Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Dawn, Cattleya, Pikachu, Eevee, Azurill, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon have gathered for Lucas and Kenny's battle.
"How about it, Kenny? You ready?" Lucas asked.
"Ready as you are, Lucas!" Kenny said, ttaking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Machoke!" Kenny called out. His Machoke came out and flexed its muscles. Lucas took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Staraptor!" Lucas called out. Staraptor came on out.
"Machoke! Use Close Combat!" Kenny ordered. Machoke charged right at STaraptor with Close Combat.
"Staraptor! Use Aerial Ace!" Lucas ordered. Staraptor darts right at Machoke with Aerial Ace. Machoke took such heavy damage. "Now, use Wing Attack!' Staraptor came at Machoke and lands a hit with Wing Attack, earning a knockout. Lucas calls back Machoke and takes out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Breloom!" Kenny called out. Kenny calls back Staraptor and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Gliscor!" Kenny called out. Gliscor came on out to battle. "Gliscor! Use X-Scissor! Lucas ordered. Gliscor came at Breloom with X-Scissor.
"Breloom! Mach Punch!" Kenny ordered. Breloom heads right towards Gliscor and both lands a heavy hit. "Use Stun Spore!"
"Dodge and use Fire Fang!" Lucas ordered. Gliscor avoided Breloom's Stun Spore and heads right towards the mushroom Pokémon with Fire Fang.
"
Dodge and use Energy Ball!" Kenny ordered. Breloom avooided Fire Fang and unleashed Energy Ball, striking Gliscor.
"Hyper Beam!" Lucas ordered.
"Energy Ball and make it your strongest one!" Kenny ordered. Breloom starts to build up Energy Ball as strong as it can go. Breloom unleashed Enrgy Ball as soon as Gliscor has unleashed Hyper Beam. An explosion occurs between them and it resulted in a double knockout. Kenny and Lucas call back their fallen Pokémon and took out one more Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Empoleon!"
"Go! Torterra!" Lucas called out.
Torterra and Empoleon both came out to battle each other.
"Empoleon! Use Metal Claw!" Kenny ordered.
"Torterra! Use Crucnh!" Lucas ordered. Empoleon came at Empoleon with Crunch. "Now, use Leaf Storm!" Torterra unleashed Leaf Storm onto the emperor Pokémon.
"Flash Cannon!" Kenny ordered.
"Solar Beam!" Lucas ordered. Torterra builds up energy and fires Solar Beam right at Empoleon Both collided with each other, resulting in an explosion.
"Use Drill Peck!" Lucas ordered.
"Use Leaf Storm!" Lucas ordered. Torterra unleashed Leaf Storm and struck Empoleon again. "Now, use Earthquake!" Torterra uses Earthquake and it shakes the ground underneath Empoleon. Empoleon had been taken down. Lucas had won. Kenny calls back his Empoleon and he sighed sadly.
"I guess, it's decided. You're more worthy of being her boyfriend than I ever would be," Kenny said.
"Kenny, it wasn't a contest to see who's got a shot at being Dawn's boyfriend. It was a battle. Even Sora would have told you that," Lucas said. Kenny looked right at Lucas. He knew Lucas was right because Sora would have mentioned it to him. "I'm just sorry that Dawn didn't have any feelings for you."
"Don't apologize, Lucaas. It was obvious you had a thing for her from the start. Leona and I just knew. The same with Barry and pretty much everyone else in our old class. Besides, Dawn wouldn't have chosen me even if I had won."
"Don't say that, Kenny. I told you that I'm flattered. I just hope maybe you would find someone better than me," Dawn said.
"I don't know if I can find someone better than you, Dawn. I've been in love with you since we were little and I thought you would fall in love with me. I knew I was wrong, and I didn't want to believe that. And I'm not going to lie, I'm happy for you both. But there's just one thing I really wanna know," Kenny said.
"Dawn?" Dawn asked.
"Are you happy with Lucas?" Kenny asked. Dawn smiled and nodded.
"Yes. I'm happy with Lucas," Dawn replied.
"That's all I wanted to know," Kenny said. Everyone were impressed by how well and mature Kenny was taking it. He looked at Lucas. "If you make Dawn cry, I'll kick your ass!" Lucas laughed.
"You have my promise, I won't make her cry in anyway," Lucas vowed. Kenny shook Lucas's hand and took off. Dawn did feeel sorry for Kenny, but she was glad to know Kenny wanted her to be happy.
Kenny was left heartbroken, but Dawn's happiness was more important than his own feelings.
A few more weeks came and went as the group were finally arriving to Lily of the Valley Island.
"There it is. Lily of the Valley Island," Sora said.
"That's where the Sinnoh Pokémon League is going to start," Ventus said.
"I can hardly wait," Agumon said.
"Same here. I'm getting excited," Veemon said.
"Don't forget, Sora, you need to register or else you won't be able to qualify," Cattleya reminded her nephew.
"I won't forget," Sora said. When they departed from the ship, the group started to make their way to the Pokémon Center to register for the qualifying round. As soon as they arrived on the grounds, They saw some familiar faces. First, it was Conway. He adjusted his glasses.
"Well, well. Sora and Lucas. I was hoping that I would see you again. I haven't seen you since returning from the Digital World," Conway said.
"Hey Conway. We had a feeling that we would see each other here," Sora said.
"Of course. I heard about your accomplishments along the way. Congratulations are in order, Kairi. And the Digimon investation has dwindled down, so it would seem that the ones with you are the exceptions," Conway said.
"You got it exactly right," Agunimon said.
"Is he a friend?" Cattleya asked.
"Mom, this is Conway. A trainer we met in Hearthome City," Ventus said.
"A pleasure, ma'am," Conway said. "As soon as you finish registering, I suggest that you check out the resturants. It's all you can eat," Conway said.
"Did you register?" Lucas asked.
"I was on my way there when I bumped into you. I was hoping you would show up," Conway said. "I'm looking forward in seeing you in the competition." The group started to head for the Pokémon Center as they bumped into Bede, Marnie, and Peonia. The Galar trio turned and saw the group.
"Sora, Kairi!" Marnie said.
"Marnie! Long time no see!" Sora said. "Same you two!"
"I have been looking forward in seeing you, Sora," Bede said.
"You all look well," Peonia said.
"Are these three friends of yours, honey?" Cattleya asked.
"Yeah. This is Marnie. Kairi and I already met her in the Galar region. This is Bede and this is Peonia," Sora introduced. "Guys, this is my aunt," Sora said.
"Nice to meet you," Marnie said.
"Are you heading to qualify for the competition?" Bede asked.
"Yeah. Me and him are on our way there," Lucas said.
"Who are you?" Peonia asked.
"My name's Lucas and I came from Twin Leaf Town. I'm competing same as Sora and you," Lucas said.
"You better get your game on, because we plan on winning it," Peonia said.
"What she said," Bede said.
The group went off to the Pokémon Center for the competition. Sora takes out his Badges and Pokédex.
"Nurse Joy, I wanna register for the Sinnoh Pokémon League," Sora said.
"Of course," Nurse Joy said, taking his Badges and Pokédex. "It will take just a second. She goes over the data and registers Sora in it. "EVerything is in order, Sora from Pallet Town. Please make yourself at home in Trainer's Village." She hands him a card. "And here is your room key. Be sure to keep that with you at all times. You don't want to lose it."
"Thank you, Nurse Joy," Sora said, taking his Pokédex, Badges, and room key. Once Sora was done registering, the group all checked out the room and it was amazing.
"What an amazing room," Kairi said.
"I'll say it is," Terra agreed.
"Say, if you don't mind, I think we would like to sleep outside. We're pretty much used to sleeping there," Agumon said.
"Are you sure you want to do that?" Cattleya asked.
"It's okay. It has to be because we're out camping all the time," Aqua said.
"We'll be okay," Gabumon said.
"We can take care of ourselves out there," Hawkmon said. With that said, all of the Digimon all camped outside since it was roomy for the humans and Pokémon inside.
That night, the opening ceremonies has officially begun as the torch has been lit.
"And with the lighting of the torch, the Sinnoh Pokémon League has is finally underway!" The announcer announced. Sora, Lucas, Paul, Marnie, Bede, Peonia, Nando, Barry, Raymond, Bobby, Tidus, Yuffie, and several other trainers have all gathered around. "The competition shall begubn with the sudden death rounds! One win is required before moving on into the main competition! We can all wish all these trainers luck along the way!" The crowd all cheered as the tournament has started. Sora looked over to Cynthia as she sat with President Goodshow along with the SInnoh region's Eliete Four.
"Cynthia and the Elite Four. They'll be watching closely. And I plan on giving it my all in this tournament," Sora said in his thoughts.
It was now the day of the tournament. Sora exchanged Torterra, Infernape, Empoleon, and Lucario for Rillaboom, Inteleon, Heatran, and Metagross. Lucas, Barry, Bede, Peonia, Marnie, Yuffie, Raymond, Bobby, Tidus, and Paul had won their qualifying battles.
Marnie worea pink and black midriff-baring tank top with a Y with teeth on it, matching black and pink skin-tight leggings with some rips and the number 960 on them, and black and brown shoes. She also wore a single glove with the same color as her shoes and has a tattoo on her arm.
Bede wore an overly-baggy shirt that's tied up in the back with a long-sleeved white turtleneck underneath, white and pink shorts with the number 908 on the left leg, and brightly colored high-top trainers.
As Paul has finished his battle, Sora was having his next. It was perfect timing for Paul since he wanted to see him.
"Sora. I figured you would be here," Paul said.
"Same here, Paul. How are things?" Sora asked.
"Like you had to ask. I just want to say that I'm sorry for accusing you of being a phony champion," Paul apologized. Sora was surprised to hear Paul apologizing to him. But he knew it was because he was free from Myotismon's control, but he knew that wasn't Paul's fault.
"It's okay, Paul," Sora said.
"No, it's not okay. Nothing about what I did and said before Myotismon is okay. I just wanted to say thanks for snapping me out of it and bringing me back to my senses," Paul said. Sora amiled.
"You're welcome, Paul. I was watching you battle out there. You really have changed," Sora said.
"Well, I owe it to you. Because that out helped me out, I'm no longer the jerk I used to be. Also, I wanted to say Infernape has grown so much stronger. And that's all because of you, Sora. You're a whole better trainer than I can ever be. And I couldn't match up to your strength, because you're a lot stronger than I ever can be," Paul said.
"Paul, you almost had me in our full battle, but Infernape was able to pull through in the end. But I just wanted to say, good luck in the tournament," Sora said.
"You too, Sora," Paul said, shaking each other's hands. Sora was now entering the battlefield. Entering the battlefield is a young man with a white lab coat.
"And now, it is our next battle, it's Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town, the Pokémon League Champion of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn! And battling against Sora is Han from Lacunosa Town!" The announcer announced. Han grinned as he took out an Ultra Ball. Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Dawn, Cattleya, Pikachu, Angel, Eevee, Azurill, Meowth, and the Digimon all sat together in the stands. Cattleya was recording the battle for her and her husband to watch later.
"I have just the one to take him out," Han said, gripping it tightly. "A gift from Team Plasma." The referee raised both flags.
"Trainers, choose your lone Pokémon and begin!" The referee announced. Han threw his Ultra Ball.
"Go! Genesect!" Han called out. Out of the Ultra Ball is a bipedal, cybernetic insectile Pokémon. It has a purple metallic body with a wide, flat head that is saucer-shaped. It has two red eyes and a wide mouth with exposed white teeth, giving it a grinning appearance. It carries a powerful laser-firing cannon on its back. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Heatran!" The Pokéball opens and Heatran came on out. "Now to get info on that thing," Sora said, taking out his Pokédex.
Genesect, the Paleozoic Pokémon
Type: Bug/Steel
Genesect lived on the planet for more than 300 million years ago. Its armor is so incredibly hard, not even its distant relative, Kabutops could scratch its hard shell. It is said that Genesect is the most feared predator in prehistoric times.
"That thing's way too advanced to be a prehistoric Pokémon. Who is that guy?" Sora asked, putting his Pokédex away.
"What is that?" Ventus asked.
"I don't know. I never seen a Pokémon like that before," Aqua said.
"It looks like Type, so Heatran is a Fire Type, so Sora's got the advantage," Riku said.
"Genesect! Use Techno Blast!" Han ordered. Genesect fires a black and purple beam of energy from its cannon at Heatran.
"Dodge and use Magma Storm!" Sora ordered. Heatran avoided the blast, and unleashed Magma Storm, surrounding Genesect in it. "Now, use Fire Fang!" Heatran charges right at Genesect, and lands a Fire Fang attack.
"Genesect! Metal Claw!" Han ordered. Genesect comes at Heatran with Metal Claw. Genesect lands a hit with Metal Claw. "Now use Hyper Beam!" Genesect unleashed Hyper Beam and it struck Heatran.
"Heatran! Use Fire Fang while it's unable to move!" Sora ordered. Heatran moved in and delivered a Fire Fang on the spot. "Now use Body Press!" Heatran jumped and lands a hit onto Genesect.
"Use Techno Blast!" Han ordered. Genesect unleashed Techo Blast and it struck Heatran on the mark. "Metal Claw!" Genesect comes at Heatran with Metal Claw, ready to strike at him.
"Iron Head!" Sora ordered. Heatran lands a hit with Iron Head and it sends the paleozoic Pokémon on its back. "Magma Storm!" Heatran unleashed Magma Storm and struck Genesect again. "Now use Fire Fang!" Heatran lands a hit onto Genesect, causing some heavy damage. "Another Fire Fang!" Heatran moves in with another Fire Fang attack.
"Metal Claw!" Han ordered. Genesect swipes at Heatran with Metal Claw. "Now, use Hyper Beam!"
"Magma Storm! Now!" Sora ordered. Heatran unleashed another Magma Storm and lands a heavy hit onto Genesect. "Now, use Iron Head!" Heatran lands another Iron Head onto Genesect. Genesect goes down for the count, after taking all sorts of damage. The referee raises the green flag.
"Genesect is unable to battle! Heatran wins! The winner is Sora!" The referee announced.
"And Sora makes it to the main competition!" The announcer announced. Han was shocked to see Genesect had lost.
"I don't believe it! Genesect defeated by a Heatran?! Those Team Plasma fools will pay for this!" Han growled, calling Genesect back.
Once Sora's battle was over, Kairi went over to her boyfriend and kisses him, repeatedly.
"Congrats on your win, Sora," Kairi said.
"Thanks, Kairi. Your praise means the world to me," Sora said.
"Now, we'll see who you'll be up against in the main tournament tomorrow," Kairi said.
"Yeah, there's that," Sora said.
Once the qualifying rounds were over and done with, Sora and the 63 other trainers gathered around to see who will be against who.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Sixty-four lucky trainers has passed through the qualifying rounds and made it to the main competition! And now, we're going to see who shall be paired up with who!" The announcer announced as the computer has made the selection. And as it turns out, Sora will be up against Bede in the first round as Marnie will be battling Raymond, and Peonia will be battling Bobby after that. Lucas will be battling Nando as Paul, Barry, Yuffie, and Tidus will be battling against other trainers. "Now that the matches has been decided, we shall see tomorrow on who shall make it through the tournament! So be sure to come back tomorrow and see!"
The Sinnoh Pokémon League has finally begun. Sora will be battling Bede in the first round and he knew he would be up against Psychic Type Pokémon in the first round. How will Sora be able to hold his own against this foe? Just you wait and see.
Before I end it right here for now, I just wanna say that Sora will be battling Bede, Marnie, and Peonia in the three-on-three rounds as Lucas will be battling Nando and Conway. Also, Barry will advance onto the semi-finals against Sora. So, enjoy whatever's coming.
