The explorers took in Papyrus as he eyed each and every member of the group with curiosity and excitement. Papyrus ran up to each member of the group and excitedly shook their hands.
"Oh there are so many new and interesting people! I'm so glad to meet you all!" Said Papyrus.
"Well this guy seems like a friendly dude." Said Soos.
"Wait a minute. There are several humans among you!" Said Papyrus looking shocked.
"Did he now just noticed that?" Asked Pacifica.
"I guess so." Said Dipper with a shrug.
Papyrus had a deep look of thought on his face he produced a notepad and began to draw hearts and stick figures on it as he began speaking.
"Ok Asgore currently has six human souls and he needs seven to destroy the barrier. There are ten humans here, so I only need to capture one of them and hand them over to Undyne and the Royal Guard. That'll prove my skills to Undyne and she'll let me become a member of the Royal Guard. I'll become a hero to the Underground and be invited as a celebrity on Mettaton's show! It would be a great show and my popularity would skyrocket and I could get my own cooking show and cook my own special spaghetti and maybe create my own special food brand. Papyrus Pasta!"
Papyrus had stars in his eyes and he did a little dance. Finn and the other guardians readied their weapons for a fight, but Sans just told them to take it easy and spoke to his younger brother.
"Bro you can't capture any of these humans."
"Wait, I can't? Why not?" Asked Papyrus looking confused.
"Well for starters you're going to have to fight your way through a lot of tough customers and even if you succeed in doing that and capture one of the humans, you'll end up being hated by this group forever and they will never want to be friends with you." Said Sans.
Papyrus's eyes went wide as his jaw dropped.
"GASP! I never thought of that! That would make me a huge inconsiderate jerk! I'm such a bonehead!" Cried Papyrus.
"Ah cheer up bro, we all do dumb boneheaded things from time to time. Lucky for you, you have a cool bro like me to help you out and look out for you. Besides you didn't do any bad and you can actually help us out." Said Sans.
"Really? What do I need to do?" Asked Papyrus.
"Well you see this group here is on a quest for a powerful magical item, but they also want to take a look at the barrier and see if they can take it down. They also want to takedown Spirit, The Doctor, and the Gunslinger Lich, but to do any of that, they're going to need some really good guides and that's where you and me come in. We can lead them to where they need to go and if we help them takedown the factions the Underground will see you as a hero bro." Said Sans.
A big grin appeared on Papyrus's face as he gave a salute.
"You can count on me! I'll be the best friend and guide you'll ever see!" Said Papyrus.
"That's what I'm talking about." Said Sans.
The others relaxed as Mabel ran up to Papyrus.
"Oh thank you for agreeing not to capture any of us and for agreeing to be our guide." Said Mabel.
"You're very welcome! With the Great Papyrus leading the way nothing can go wrong!" Said Papyrus.
"Since you're helping us out I think it's only fair that we do you a favor and help you out with something. I'm making a little journal about all the people I help in the Underground and I want you to be the first person I put in it." Said Mabel.
"I would be honored! Let's see what can I have you do for me? Oh I know! I need someone to help test my fighting moves for a tournament I'm training for." Said Papyrus.
"You can count on me for help and my brother will help to." Said Mabel.
"Wait, what?" Said Dipper.
"Come on Dipper, all us humans have to lend a helping hand to the monsters." Said Mabel giving Dipper some puppy dog eyes.
"Fine, but we better not get serious hurt or something." Grumbled Dipper as he went over to Mabel and Papyrus.
"Don't you worry, there's very little chance that you'll get hurt." Said Sans.
"Let's go!" Said Papyrus as he took a heroic fighting stance.
Bones began to rise out of the ground and head towards Dipper and Mabel. The twins easily jumped over the bones or sidestepped them. Bones appeared hovering in the air before they raced at the twins, who simply ducked underneath them. Papyrus cheered Mabel and Dipper on as they dodged his attacks and the others just simply watched.
"You've done well, so far, but let's see how you handle my fable Blue Attack!" Said Papyrus as he summoned some large blue bones and sent them at Dipper and Mabel.
The twins watched as the blue bones headed towards them, unsure what to do.
"Just hold still and nothing will happen to you!" Called Papyrus.
The twins did as they were instructed and the bones harmlessly passed through them.
"Great job! Now onto my next attack!" Said Papyrus.
Dipper and Mabel let out a startled cry as their bodies became blue.
"You're blue now. That's my attack!" Said Papyrus as he sent more regular bones and blue bones at the twins.
Mabel and Dipper continued to dodge the regular bones and hold still for the blue bones to pass through them.
"Now here comes my Special Attack!" Said Papyrus.
Nothing happened. Papyrus and the others blinked their eyes in confusion and looked around the area, until they spotted a dog sitting nearby chewing on a bone.
"What the heck! That's my Special Attack!" Yelled Papyrus.
The dog continued to chew on the bone.
"Hey you stupid dog! Do you hear me! Stop munching on that bone!" Yelled Papyrus.
The dog looked up at Papyrus and then began to walk away dragging the bone away from the scene.
"Hey! What are you doing! Come back here with my Special Attack!" Yelled Papyrus.
The dog did not come back. There was an awkward silence, until Papyrus regained his composure and spoke.
"Oh well. I'll just use a really cool regular attack."
Papyrus fired more bones at the twins, which they dodged. He then fired some bones that were connected that spelled out the words 'Cool Dude' followed by the a bone riding a skateboard. Dipper and Mabel got a good laugh from these attacks as they dodged them. A few seconds later Papyrus stopped attacking.
"Whew! That was a good workout! Great job everyone!" Said Papyrus with a big grin.
"Thanks." Said Mabel.
"So what's this tournament, you're training for?" Asked Dipper.
"It's called the Sibling Showdown." Said Papyrus as he pulled out a flyer and showed it to the group.
Finn studied the flyer and became interested in the prize for a wish.
"The winner gets a wish." Said Finn.
"That's awesome! We could wish to know Crimson's identity or for the location of the organization's lair." Said Gata.
"Those are good wishes, but I have something better in mind." Said Finn.
"What's that?" Asked Gata.
"I'm going to wish for that portal inside of you to be removed." Said Finn looking intensely at Gata.
"Finn...you would really use that...wish for me?" Asked Gata a bit stunned.
"Of course I would, you're my sister Gata. I know what you've been through and I know you're afraid about the threat that portal inside you posses. Well I'm going to put an end to that." Said Finn.
"You really are a great brother." Said Gata.
"Thanks." Said Finn.
The two smiled at one another and then Jake grabbed both of them and they had a group hug. Sans and Papyrus were confused about the situation, so Dipper and Mabel filled them in. Papyrus was deeply moved by Gata's story and pulled out a handkerchief and blew into it.
"I greatly respect siblings that look out for each other. You'll have our support in the tournament." Said Sans.
"Thanks man." Said Jake.
"Oh what a joyous moment! We should take a trip to the Crystal Cave!" Said Papyrus.
"I'm down with that." Said Sans.
The group headed off to continue their quest.
To be continued.
