Episode 419: Iris and Axew
Not too long after leaving Professor Juniper's lab in Nuvema Town, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, and Meowth made a stop to find some of the local Pokémon living in the Unova region. Sora and Kairi came across two Pidove.
"So, which one do you want, Kairi?" Sora asked. She looked at the Pidove on the right.
"That one. She looks like a promising one," Kairi said.
"That leaves me that one. Boy or girl, Kairi?" Sora asked.
"That one's a boy," Kairi replied. Sora and Kairi looked right at Pikachu and Angel.
"Go!" Sora and Kairi both said. Pikachu and Angel both nodded. Pikachu and Angel stood before the two Pidove.
"Okay, Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered.
"Angel! Use Headbutt!" Kairi ordered.
Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt as Angel runs towards the female Pidove. The male got hit by Thunderbolt as the female avoids her. Both Pidive flapped their wings.
"They're both using Gust!" Ventus said.
"Pikachu! Thunderbolt again!" Sora ordered.
"Angel! use Swift!" Kairi ordered.
Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt as Angel unleashed Swift. Both Pidove got struck by the attacks from the Pokémon couple. The male Pidove came down fast at Pikachu.
"Dodge and use your own Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu avoids the male Pidove and darts right into him. The female does the same thing right at Angel.
"You use Quick Attack, too!" Kairi ordered. Angel charges right at the female Pidove. She alnds a hit ith Quick Attack and overpowered the female Pidove. "Sora, how about we combine our efforts!"
"I like the way you think, Kairi!" Sora said. "Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!"
"Angel! use Swift!" Kairi ordered. Pikachu and Angel combined their attacks together and they both were struck by the Thunderbolt and Swift. Both Pidove were down and out. Sora and Kairi each took out a Pokéball and threw it at the selected Pidove. The Pokéballs wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéballs to confirm the catch.
"Our first catch in Unova," Sora said.
"And what cute Pokémon we just caught," Kairi said.
"Pidove are very common here in Unova, so there must be some other Pokémon that are just as common as well," Terra said.
The group decided to keep their eyes open for them. Unaware, the Oshawott from before has been following them.
A little while later, a Patrat was running around. Patrat ran into the path of Kairi and right towards Angel.
"Angel! Use Headbutt!" Kairi ordered. Angel lands a Headbutt onto the attacking Patrat. The Patrat's body momentarily becomes surrounded by a light red aura, raising its attack powers. When Patrat was about to attack, the light red aura flashes around its body once again. "That's Work Up! Angel! Use Iron Tail!" Angel swung her tail and struck Patrat hard. The scout Pokémon fell to the ground as Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Patrat flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles again and again. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. "I got myself a Patrat."
"Good catch, Kairi," Ventus said.
"Thank you, Ven," Kairi said.
The group came across a sand pit. And in it are a group of Sandile. One of the Sandile is wearing a pair of sunglasses. The Sandile came out and came at them with a Bite.
"Pikachu's Electric Type attacks won't do a thing, so Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu swings his tail at the attacking Sandile. "Now, use Quick Attack!" Pikachu dashed right at Sandile and lands a hit. "One more Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings his tail and lands a hit onto Sandile. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at the weakened Sandile and it flows inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "Now, I got myself a Sandile."
"How about we keep going? We might run into some more Unova Pokémon if we go down further," Ventus said.
"I hope we make a stop soon, because I could use a break," Meowth said.
"Okay, we'll do that when we find a good spot to relax at," Sora said. "So, let's go." The group pressed on forward to the nearest town. They made a stop to catch themselves a break when they heard some rustling in some bushes nearby.
"What was that?" Aqua asked.
They saw something out of the ordinary. They didn't know what was what.
"Is it some kind of Pokémon?" Ventus asked.
"I don't know, maybe I can try to scare it out by throwing a rock.
"Ow!" A girl's voice cried.
"Ow?" The group all asked. The girl from beofre burts out of the bushes.
"HEY! WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" The girl exclaimed angrily.
"Sorry about that. We thought you were something else," Sora apologized.
"Oh, really. And what did you think I was? A Pokémon? Huh? Do you think I look like one?" The girl asked.
"Hey, take it easy, I just made an honest mistake!" Sora said.
"Well, you have a long way to go if you go around mixing people up for Pokémon. Right, Axew?" Iris asked, holding out a piece of fruit. Her Axew came out and happily ate the fruit.
"Why is your Axew hiding in your hair?" Ventus asked.
"Axew likes it in there. He's been like that ever sice he first hatched. Axew is just a few weeks old," the girl said.
"That makes loads of sense. Your hair must make Axew feel safe," Terra said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said. Iris spots Pikachu with them.
"Oh my gosh, a Pikachu!" The girl exclaimed, grabbing Pikachu and hugging him. "You can't find anything this cute and adorable here in Unova! Who does this little cutie belong to?!" The girl asked.
"That will be me. And you may want to let Pikachu go now or else-" Sora was cut off when Pikachu shocked her, "-that will happen."
"A zap from a Pikachu's Thunderbolt is even more tingly than I thought," the girl said. The girl got back up and sat down to talk. "Sorry for doing that to your Pikachu. It's just this is my first time that I have ever seen a Pikachu." She looked at Angel and Meowth. "The same for Eevee and a Meowth."
"And I have the feeling that we're going to be pretty popular here quick," Meowth said. The girl jumped.
"Wow! Not only a rare Pokémon, but it can talk!" The girl exclaimed.
"It's no trick, he sure can talk," Sora said. "Anyway, sorry about throwing that rock. My aim was a little off. My name's Sora, and this is my girlfriend Kairi along with my cousin Ventus. We call him Ven." The girl blinked twice.
"Hold on. He's your cousin? I thought he was your little brother," the girl said.
"We get that a lot," Sora said.
"It's nice to meet you. This Eevee is Angel," Kairi introduced.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"My name is Aqua."
"And I'm Terra."
"I'm Iris. Since you three have such rare Pokémon, I would like to know where you came from," Iris said.
"We're all from Kanto. Kairi and I are from Pallet Town, while Ven, Terra, and Aqua are from Porta Vista," Sora explained.
"That explains a lot. Since you would like to know, I came from the Village of Dragons. It's pretty far in Unova, not too far from Opelucid City," Iris said.
"And the Village of Dragons is where you got your Axew," Sora pointed out.
"That's right. I've been on the road for the last few days; that's how long I had Axew. What brings you here in Unova?" Iris asked.
"Well, if you have to know, Kairi is competing in Pokémon Contests while Sora is going to be taking on the Gym Leaders here," Terra said.
"And after winning four Leagues in a row," Ventus said. Iris's eyes almost popped out.
"Wait! You won four Pokémon Leagues?! No way!" Iris said.
"It's true. Kairi and I have been on the road for a long time. We traveled all through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. We caught some Pokémon you wouldn't have seen before," Sora said. "Ven, Aqua, and Terra tagged along since Sinnoh."
"And I thought you were such a little kid," Iris said.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sora asked.
"Take it easy, Sora," Kairi said.
"And since you mentioned a Pokémon Contest, there is one being held in Striaton City. And that's where the first Gym is also held," Iris said.
"Well, that helps us out. Thanks a lot, Iris," Sora said. The group were about to take off when Iris caught up with them.
"Hold on, all of you! You're going to need my help getting there!" Iris said. "You all look like you could be lost without me!"
"We made it through the other regions just fine," Sora said.
"So you say. But I can show you some shortcuts in some areas," Iris said.
"Look if you want to come along, you should just say so," Sora said. Iris looked right at him.
"Really?" Iris asked.
"Yeah. I think it's an excuse to get to know us, but I can accept that excuse," Sora said. Iris smiled as she accepted the invitation. As the group proceeded on, they came across a small group of Deerling.
"A group of Deerling," Iris said.
"You wanna have a go, Kairi?" Sora asked his girlfriend.
"Gladly," Kairi said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Come on out, Pidove!" Her Pidove came on out to battle. "Gust!" Pidove flew and flapped a gust of wind. One of the Deerling charged at the Pidove as the others has retreated. Deerling came running towards Pidove. "Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Pidove dove down at Deerling and lands a hit. "Now, use Gust one more time!" Pidove flapped her wings and the Gust caught Deerling in the wind. Deerling has been taken down. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it. Deerling flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi went to claim her new Pokémon. What did you think?"
"Nice," Sora said. Iris was impressed by how well Kairi has handled her Pidove.
"Wow, that was amazing!" Iris said.
"Thank you, Iris," Kairi said.
"So, how are your skills, Sora?" Iris asked.
Before Sora could reply, a Lillipup came running out.
"You're about to see, Iris," Sora said, looking at his partner. Pikachu nodded and went out to battle Lillipup. The wild Lillipup started to run towards Pikachu with Tackle. "Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Piakchu avoids Lillipup's Tackle and lands a Quick Attack on the puppy Pokémon. "Now, use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt and it lands a shock onto Lillipup. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. Lillipup flows inside as the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "Does that answer your question?" Sora went to take his newest Pokéball.
"That's just a little Lillipup. Only a little kid would feel proud of cathing a Pokémon like that," Iris teased. "The same can be for a Deerling."
"So, Iris, you wanna have a battle against me?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, I wanna see how good you are," Iris said. Sora took out a Pokéball and opened it up.
"Okay. And I'm going with Sandile!" Sora said, calling out his Sandile. Iris took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Great! And I'm going with Deino!" Iris called out.
"Ladies first," Sora said.
"Deino! Use Focus Energy and then, Tackle!" Iris ordered. Deino ran towards Sandile with Tackle.
"Sandile! Use Dig!" Sora ordered. Sandile dug into the earth to avoid Deino's Tackle. Sandile came out and lands a hit onto Deino.
"Deino! use Dragon Breath!" Iris ordered. Deino unleashed Dragon Breath. Dodge and use Bite!" Sandile avoids Deino's Dragon Breath and bit on Deino's leg. "Deino! Use Dragon Rage!" Deino unleashed Dragon Rage.
"Dig!" Sora ordered. Sandile dug in the ground, and then popped out again and lands a hit.
"Tackle!" Iris ordered. Deino tackled right into Sandile.
"Rage!" Sora ordered. Sandile's body starts to glow red and rams into Deino.
"Dragon Rage!" Iris ordered. Deino unleashed Dragon Rage and lands a hit onto Sandile. Sandile was getting angrier.
"Rage again!" Sora ordered. Sandile ran towards Deino and lands a strong hit.
"When attacked after using Rage, the attack power of Sandile goes up. Sora must have known this," Terra said.
"Now, use Bite again!" Sora ordered. Sandile lands a Bite onto Deino, finishing it off.
"No way! I lost!" Iris cried. She calls back Deino. "Get some rest, Deino. You deserve it." She puffed up her cheeks. "Okay, I can admit, you're better than I thought. But I can bet you wouldn't beat the Gym Leader there."
"Sora can take on anything that anyone throws at him," Ventus said.
"That's telling her, Ven!" Meowth said.
"So, you say," Iris said.
The group continued on. Oshawott continued to follow the group.
Meanwhile, Team Shadow has learned of Sora's venture into the Unova region.
"How long ago has be and Kairi departed for Unova?" Mateus asked.
"They arrived in Unova earlier today. We have opportives in Unova as well. They are keeping a close watch on Team Plasma as we speak," Ein said.
"Good. Keep a watchful eye on them. We cannot have any interference from any other sources," Mateus said.
"Of course, sir. As you wish," Ein said.
Back in Unova, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Iris, Pikachu, Angel, and Meowth came across a Purrloin and a Scraggy. The Scraggy was doing some headbutts as Purrloin was sharpening its claws againt two different trees.
"Which one you want?" Sora asked.
"I'll take Purrloin," Kairi said.
"Okay," Sora said. Sora and Kairi took out a Pokéball each and threw it. "You're going in Pidove!"
"Go! Deerling!" Kairi called out.
Sora's Pidove and Kairi's Deerling came out to battle against Scraggy and Purrloin. Scraggy starts up with a Headbutt towards Pidove as Purrloin came charging towards Deerling with Scratch.
"Deerling! use Tackle!" Kairi ordered. Deerling charged towards Purrloin with Tackls and lands a hit. "Now, use Double Kick!" Deerling lands a couple of kicks onto Purrloin.
"Pidove! Use Gust!" Sora ordered. Pidove flapped his wings and sends the shedding Pokémon fying in the air. Scraggy came back down as Sora got a Pokéball out and threw it. Scraggy flows inside and it wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around it to confirm the catch. "And Scraggy makes four."
"Deerling! One more Tackle!" Kairi ordered. Deerling lands a Tackle onto Purrloin and was knocked out. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it. Purrloin flows inside, and it wobbles around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. "Same with me."
"Wow, two Dark Types in the first try," Iris said.
NIght came as the group as Kairi was preparing dinner for everyone as Iris was climbing up the trees. The smell has reached her nostrils. Sora got to know Pidove, Sandile, Lillipup, and Scraggy. Sora looked right at Sandile, wearing a pair of sunglasses.
"Those are pretty styling shades, Sandile," Sora said.
"Sandile," Sandile said.
"Meals on!" Kairi announced. Iris came down from the tree she was on as she joins in the group. The meal was a a special soup. Iris had a taste and she instantly loved it.
"This is tasty!" Iris said.
"Kairi's the best there is," Sora said.
"Sora, stop," Kairi said.
"How exactly did you learn to make this?" Iris asked.
"When I was younger, it was my grandma who taught me," Kairi said.
"And not your parents?" Iris asked.
"My parents weren't around when I was little. At first, I thought they were dead until we met up with them in Johto. I was upset to see them at first, but they explained their reasons why they disappeared from my life," Kairi said.
"Why would they do that?" Iris asked.
"It was because of a man named Jakira. He was a longtime enemy of Kairi's parents, and they feared that he would go after her, so they faked their deaths in order to protect her. Parents would do anything to protect their kids," Terra said.
"Now that Jakira is gone, Kairi has nothing to be worried about," Sora said. Kairi knew he was right.
"I would like to know how the two of you met," Iris said.
"I first met Kairi when I started on my very first journey. I was trying to make my very first catch when I found a Pidgey in a cage, set up by Pokémon Hunters," Sora explained.
"Pokémon Hunters?" Iris asked.
"They're people who poaches Pokémon and they sell them on the black market. They're very horrible people," Aqua said.
"Getting back to the story at hand, the two hunters were trying to steal Pikachu, but I couldn't let that happen. Pikachu and I accidentally stumbled on their camp and that's where we met Kairi," Sora said.
"I was out on a nature walk when I spotted a Caterpie in a cage, and I rescued her. Those hunters found me and they took me back to their camp and said they were going to kill me when they were done. I would have been dead if Sora hasn't come to my aid," Kairi said. Sora took Kairi by the hand and blushed.
"Ever since then, Kairi and I were traveling together," Sora said.
"So, where does Ven, Terra, and Aqua fit in?" Iris asked.
"We met them when Sora and Kairi first came to Porta Vista. It was our first time meeting Sora since Ven has left to spend Christmas with Sora and his mom," Terra said.
"They also had nine other travel companions with them. They all came from the Alola region," Aqua said.
"Alola? You mean those islands? I always wanted to see those," Iris said.
"We thought it was a nice place when we first visited. Nicer than we thought. Before Porta Vista, we met them when we were heading to Celadon CIty for my fourth Gym battle in Kanto. I met up with a trainer named Riku who has an Eevee as a partner. I battled him and I lost. We met Riku several times after that," Sora said.
"Is Riku from Alola, too?" Iris asked.
"He is. He went to a school on Pokémon before we met," Sora said.
"The eleven of us traveled all over Kanto and we met some people and Pokémon. The first Pokémon I have ever head was a Togepi, before he evolved into a Togetic," Kairi said.
"Sora won eight Gym Badges and entered the Indogo Plateau," Ventus said.
"Indigo Plateau?" Iris asked.
"That's where the Kanto Pokémon League is always held. Sora took on the challenges and won the championship. We all traveled down in the Johto region and we did the same thing. Kairi started to catch her own Pokémon a well," Sora said.
"Sora won eight Johto Gym Badges and he won the Johto Pokémon League" Ventus said.
"So, what about your other friends? WHat happened to them?" Iris asked.
"Well, eight of them went back home in Alola to establish Gyms of their own since Professor Kukui was seting up a Pokémon League in Alola," Kairi said.
"Alola doesn't have a Pokémon League?" Iris asked.
"It didn't used to, but now it does," Sora said.
"Also, who's Professor Kukui?" Iris asked.
"He's a Pokémon researcher in Alola. He gives trainers starter Pokémon, which happens to be a Rowlet, a Grass Type, a Litten, a Fire Type, and a Popplio, a Water Type," Sora said.
"Oh, you mean like Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott," Iris said.
"That's right," Sora said. Oshawott suddeenly appeared, sitting on Sora's lap.
"Oshawott," Oshawott said.
"Huh?" Sora asked, looking at the sea otter Pokémon on his lap.
"Hey, where did you come from?" Sora asked.
"Osha," Oshawott said.
"Hey, didn't see this Oshawott in Professor Juniper's lab earlier?" Terra asked.
"Were you following us the whole time?" Sora asked. Oshawott nodded.
"Osha, Psha, Oshawott, wott, Oshawott, Osha, Osha," Oshawott said.
"What's Oshawott saying, Meowth?" Ventus asked.
"Oshawott is saying that he didn't get picjed by that stuck-up human, so he wanted Sora here to be his trainer, so he followed usout here," Meowth translated.
"You left without letting Professor Juniper knowing?" Sora asked. Oshawott looked down to the ground. "She must be worried sick about you. I'll have to make contact with her. But it's probably late, so I'll do it tomorrow," Sora said.
On the very next morning, Professor Juniper had arrived to her lab.
"Have any of you found Oshawott yet?" Professor Juniper asked.
"No, professor. We looked everywhere, and we couldn't find it," the staff member said. Just then, her phone rings and she answers it to see Sora on the screen.
"Sora, good to hear from you so soon. I trust your travels are going smoothly," Professor Juniper said.
"Quite smoothly. Kairi and I had caught oursleves some Unova Pokémon, but that's not why I'm calling," Sora said.
"Oh? Then what?" Professor Juniper asked.
"Well, the thing is, we ran into an Oshawott just last night, so we thought we better wait until today to inform you," Sora said. He shows Oshawott to Professor Juniper, waving at her sheepishly.
"Oh, so there you are, Oshawott. No wonder my staff members couldn't find you," Professor Juniper said. Sora moved his wrist back to his face. "I'm sorry if Oshawott has been causing some trouble for you."
"It's alright. We just thought we let you know we found him," Sora said.
"You did the right thing by contacting me," Professor Juniper said.
"Also, I have an idea on why Oshawott was following us. I think he just wanted to be with me," Sora said.
"I can understand. I was wondering if you would like to be Oshawott's trainer. Oshawott obviously likes you if he was follwoing you," Professor Juniper said.
"Is that really okay?" Sora asked.
"Of course. In your curreent location, I cannot send Oshawott's Pokéball over to you unless you head for the nearest place with a Pokéball teleporter," Professor Juniper said.
"That's a huge help," Sora said. "I'll let you know as soon as we get there."
"Thank you, you are such a sweetie, Sora. Goodbye for now," Professor Juniper said, breaking contact.
Arrving to the Pokémon Center, Sora has made contact with Professor Juniper and it has arrived safely.
"I got Oshawott's Pokéball, professor," Sora said.
"I'm glad to hear that. I know Oshawott will be in very good hands with you, Sora," Professor Juniper said.
"I'll take good care of Oshawott, professor," Sora promised. With that said, Oshawott's information shows up on Sora's Pokémon Box and sees his icon. He turned to the sea otter Pokémon with a smile. "Welcome to the team, Oshawott."
"Oshawott! Osha, Osha, Oshawaott!" Oshawott said, jumping into Sora's arms, huggin his new trainer.
"Looks like Professor Juniper's right. Oshawaott does like Sora," Ventus said.
"Well, Oshawott is very cute!" Kairi cooed. Oshawott bushed at having to being called cute. Sora and Kairi went to pick up their other Pokémon from Nurse Jooy. The Nurse Joys in Unova all had Audino has their helpers instead of a Chansey or a Blissey. Kairi has prepared some Pokémon food for Oshawott, and he wolfed it down pretty fast.
"Look at Oshawott eat," Meowth said.
"He's eating like a Munchlax," Ventus said.
"Oshawot must have been pretty hungry if he came all tis way this to see me," Sora said.
"Here, eat as much as you want," Kairi said.
"Wott," Oshawott said.
The journey in Unova has officially begun. Iris joins up with our friends as Sora and Kairi has caught some of the local Pokémon living in Unova. Who knows what other advantures they will have ahead of them. Just you wait and see.
