Episode 424: The Bloom Is On Axew!
A couple of days had passed since Sora has added Darumaka to his team. Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Iris, Cilan, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and Axew were passing through the forest, keeping their eyes open for any wild Pokémon in the area. Kairi spotted a wild Audino. Kairi made it her mission to catch Audino and make her her own Pokémon. Kairi too out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Purrloin!" Kairi called out. Purrloin came out to battle the Audino. Cilan was shaking with fear around Purrlon. The Audino came at Purrloin and gave her Double Slap right on the face. "Purrlion! Use Scratch!" Purrloin scratches Audino right across the face. "Use Fury Swipes!" Purrloin swipes her claws at Audino, landing four swipes on her face. "That was great! Now, use One more Scratch!" Purrloin scratches Audino on the face. Audino fell on her back as Kairi got a Pokéball ready and threw it. Audino flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Audino with her. She chose to send Audino to Professor Oak's lab.
"Good catch, Kairi," Sora said.
"Thanks, Sora," Kairi said.
Rustling is heard from the bushes when an Axew that seems to be a tad bigger than the one Iris has came right out form the nearby shrubs.
"An Axew!" Iris said.
"And it's bigger than your Axew, Iris," Ventus said.
"Axew," Iris's Axew came out of her hair and went to greet the bigger Axew. He smiels and attempts to have a handshake, The wild Axew gave the smaller Axew a scare. Iris's Axew ran back to Iris and hid in her hair.
"Hey, you can't do that to my Axew!" Iris said.
"Leave it to my, Iris," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball. "You're going in, Darumaka!" Darumaka came on out to batttle.
"You realize Fire Type moves won't do much damage on Dragon Types like Axew, don't you?" Cilan asked.
"I know. This is Darumaka's chance to rise up," Sora said. "Darumaka! Tackle!" Darumaka ran towards the wild Axew and lands a hit. The wild Axew came at Darumaka with Bite.
"It's using Bite!" Cilan said.
"Dodge and use Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Darumaka avoids the wild Axew's Bite. "Now, use Fire Punch!" Darumaka lands a Fire Punch onto the wild Axew. It unleashed Dragon Rage right at Darumaka. "Dodge!" Darumaka jumps to avoid Dragon Rage. All the time he spent stealing from with the other two has paid off. "Tackle, one more time!" Darumaka lands a Tackle onto the wild Axew. The wild Axew unleashed Dragon Rage and lands a hit. The wild Axew comes right at Darumaka with Scratch.
"Now, he's using Scratch!" Kairi said.
"Now, use Flamethrower, and turn up the heat!" Sora ordered. Darumaka unleashed Flamethrower and it engulfs the wild Axew in the flames. The wild Axew fell to the ground, beaten. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it. The Pokéball wobbles and around. Stars swirls around to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep his new Axew. He chose to send his Axew to Professor Oak's lab. "It looks like I got my own Axew."
"I must say, it was such a spicy treat," Cilan said. "Turning a Type disadvantage into a successful capture."
"Thanks," Sora said. He looked right at his Darumaka. "You were great, Darumaka. You did even better than I thought you would. Helping out Darmanitan has done wonders for you."
"Daru, Darumaka, Daru," Darumaka said.
"How about we take a break?" Sora suggested.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
Iris had a favor she wanted to ask Cilan for.
"Say, Cilan, I have a huge favor to ask you, if that's okay," Iris said.
"Of course, Iris. You shouldn't hesitate to ask," Cilan said.
"I was wondering if you would have a battle with me; your Pansage against my Axew," Iris challenged. "But I ask you if you would go a tad easy on him."
"Alright, Iris. I accept your challenge," Cilan said.
"Thanks a lot, Cilan," Iris said.
"Hey, why him and not Sora?" Ventus asked. "And what do you mean go easy on Axew?"
"Well, because Sora's Pikachu is too strong an opponent for Axew, and Cilan is willing to agree with my terms," Iris said.
"I can understand, Iris," Sora said. "And you don't have to battle me if you don't want. And you're right, Pikachu IS too strong for Axew."
"Especially with Volt Tackle, and that's a powerful move," Kairi said.
"The more reason why I can't have Axew battle Pikachu, at least until Axew is used to battle," Iris said.
Iris and Cilan got ready for their battle as Pansage and Axew stood on opposite sides of their opponents.
"Axew!" Axew said.
"You're rearing to go, aren't you?" Iris ased.
"AXE!" Axew said.
"Then, let's the show on the road!" Iris said.
"As you wish. Pansage, let's serve up just what the asked for," Cilan said.
"Pansage!" Pansage said.
"Alright, Axew! Use Scratch!" Iris ordered. Axew comes at Axew with Scratch.
"Pansage, use Bullet Seed; gently," Cilan ordered. Pansage shot out a single seed, and it was just let out in the sfest way as possible, and it struck Axew on the head. Pansage only let out soft Bullet Seeds, and Axew was still hurting. Iris watched with dsmay.
"Oh no! Axew!" Iris gasped.
"That didn't take much," Meowth said.
"Are you okay, Axew?" Iris asked.
"Axew," Axew cried.
"I apologize if we overdid it," Cilan apologized.
"Remember, just do your best, because we're in training," Iris said.
"You mean this isn't a real battle?" Ventus asked.
"Of course not. Iris insisted on this. Its purpose was to help Axew get used to battling, nothing too difficult. So, I promised to use my moves softly. No more than twenty percent power," Cilan said.
"The best way to start is by taking one little baby step at a time," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"At least someone here gets it," Iris said.
"Hey, I just had a thought. This is the first time that we're watching Iris and Cilan battle each other," Ventus said.
"You're right, Ven. It is," Aqua agreed.
"Cilan isn't afraid to adjust his power, so it should be alright," Terra said.
"Thank you for the sentiment, Terra. Shall we continue, Iris?" Cilan asked.
"You think you keep going?" Iris asked.
"Axew!" Axew said.
"You're so strong!" Iris said.
"Go for it, Axew!" Sora called out.
"Yes, we shall! Axew! Use Scratch again!" Iris ordered.
"Again?" Ventus asked.
"Block it, please," Cilan said. Pansage waited for Axew to come, and held him by his horn. Axew kept on swinging.
"Come on, Cilan, get serious!" Iris exclaimed.
"I am being serious. First, you stop your opponent's movements, and then attack from a distance. Pansage! Solar Beam!" Pansage charges up for Solar Beam.
"Oh no!" Axew gasped,
"Iris, doesn't Axew know any other moves?" Terra asked.
"Yeah, but they wouldn't do any good," Iris said.
"What do you mean they won't do any good?" Aqua asked.
"You might want to look out," Sora said.
"Huh?" Iris asked. Pansage unleashed a soft Solar Beam, which is more of a Solar Stream, since it didn't really do much and Axew was brought down no matter how softer it was. "Axew, are you okay?"
"This is not going to end well, no matter how well it turns out," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Okay, Axew, I wasn't going to use this move, but we don't have much choice. Use Dragon Rage!" Iris ordered. Axew began to build up energy for Dragon Rage. Everyone was in awe for Axew had a move like Dragon Rage. It resulted in an explosion. Axew stood in a crater, marveling at the destruction he caused, but everyone were still alive. Sora's hair was in an afro.
"What a move," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said. Iris chuckkled ervously.
"Oopsie, messed it up," Iris said. She sighed as he hung her head. "Messed it up once again."
"Again?" Sora asked.
"Pika?" Pikachu asked.
Elsewhere in an old building, Trudly and Folly met up with Miror B and the Team Shadow Peons.
"Glad you decided to join up? How did recon go?" Miror B asked.
"Smoothly, sir," Folly replied.
"Team Plasma doesn't suspect that we have entered here," Trudly said.
"Good." Miror B said. "HQ is making contact with us and they want us to make contact right away." Miror B does exactly that as Mateus has answered.
"What news do you have?" Mateus asked.
"Team Plasma are blind to our prescence, Master Mateus, sir," Miror B said.
"Wonderful. We don't want to alert them just yet. But there is a reason that I'm making contact with you now," Mateus said. "Your assignment will take place in the Desert Resort."
"The Desert Resort?" Miror B asked.
"Yes. There is a meteorite known as the Meteonite. We have taken some precautions of taking our steps after our failed attempt to acquire a Dream Mist from Musharna, but our goal remained the same. Many millennia ago, this meteorite fell through the planet's atmosphere, broke apart. The largest piece is said to be found in the Unova region. Even the tiniest piece of the Meteonite can unleashed an enormous amount of energy. Even though we lost some of our agents failed since their mission went south in Striaton City, our scientists were able to analyze the energy, and thanks to them, we were able to locate an enormus energy flow in the Unova region. It is giving off an identical energy flow. We must obtain the Meteonite, and harnish its energy, this will be the key to Team Shadow's plans for world conquest," Mateus said.
"You can count on us, sir," Miror B said.
"I know you shall. Proceed to the rendevous point at once," Mateus ordered.
"Sir!" Miror B, Trudly, Folly, and the Team Shadow Peons all said, bowing their heads.
Mateus broke contact as he chuckled.
"This is going smoothly than I can ever hope," Mateus said. He stood up and he enters the back and entered some sort of chamber. He switches into what looks like golden armor with purple and rose-colored robes that have four portions: two connected on each side, and a raised collar and extended striped "shoulders". His head is adorned with tiny colored jewels. He has four long golden purple-tipped spikes atop his head. Black and white stripes trace his ribs on his chestplate, and demonic looking faces embellish his waist and back. His gauntlets sport extended claws. The Emperor wears purple makeup and a purple and gold crown depicting a serpent. His boots have stiletto heels. He wears a transparent quartz-colored belt around his waist. "The time to come out of the shadows is near. Even though I am the one who founded Team Shadow, but I still remained in the shadows, biding my time after many centuries of my defeat."
(Flashback)
We go back to many centuries, Mateus sat in a throne surrounded by many soldiers. Sir Aaron and his Lucario foguth back against the evil soldiers.
"I once ruled the most feared empire the world has ever known; Palamecia. That is until that fool, Sir Aaron has defeated me, and my empire," Mateus narrated. "That fool believed that using his power of aura would defeat me, but he has only weakened me temporarily."
"It's over, Emperor! You have lost! Your empire has been destroyed!" Sir Aaron declared.
"You may have won the war, sir knight, but I shall rise to power again," Mateus said. He laughed evilly. "Unfortunately you will not live to see it."
"What do you mean?" Sir Aaron asked.
"Come now, even you should see it through my aura. Unlike you, I can live for many centuries! I am immortal!" Mateus said. "And I will return!"
"And when you do, someone like me will be waiting, to take you down!" Sir Aaron said.
"And by then, my empire shall rise back to power from the ashes, just like the phoenix!" Mateus proclaimed. He vanished, but his laughter is heard.
Time marches on as Mateus has stayed the same with the passing of the years. Many of his people were growing old and dying until he was the only one left.
"Good to my word, I have hid in the shodows and waited for the right opportunity to strike. Many centuries has passed, so I began to rebuild my empire by founding Team Shadow. But I was not without opposition. Team Rocket has launched their attack, but like before, Team Shadow hid in the shadows and waited for our moment to destroy them. Giovanni's madness in striking the deal with Ganondorf and his Brotherhood of Darkness was the source of his downfall. And it was then, I have learned of Sora Ketchum, the blood decedent of the knight who has defeated me was the one who has done it. Team Magma and Team Aqua also had their share of encounters with him, according to our agents, as well as has Team Galactic. All thier plans were doomed to failure. Young Sora was an unexpected element." He looked up Sora on the screen. "I will not make the same mistake as I have all those centuries ago."

He switches back to his modern clothing as he exits his office. He sat down his desk.
"There is a handful of threats against Team Shadow, but Sora Ketchum is the most major threat," Mateus said.
Back in Unova, Iris and Axew sat alone on a log.
"Oh, Dragon Rage still isn't working right. It's frustrating!" Iris said.
"Don't let it get you down, Iris," Kairi said. Iris turned to see her. She wasn't alone. Sora, CIlan, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, and Meowth were pretty concerned.
"Instead of calling it a Dragon Rage, you could call it a Dragon Sneeze!" Meowth joked.
"Meowth!" Sora and Kairi scolded.
"IT'S NOT A SNEEZE, SEE?!" Iris yelled. "And in case you haven't noticed, I am very upset about this!"
"Hey, it was a joke," Meowth said.
"It wasn't funny! We were only here to make Iris feel better and you made fun of her!" Sora said.
"Doesn't Axew know any other moves?" Kairi asked.
"No, just Scratch and Dragon Rage; and that's it. Dragon Rage should be as powerful as the Pokémon using it. Every time Axew uses it, it ends up exploding," Iris said. Axew jumps off with Pikachu and Angel going with him. "So you see, I thought if we took it slow, and learn as we go along." Axew climbs up to a nearby tree and grabs a coupe of apples. He placed each one on each tusk, and climbs back down. "But then I realized, it's a long, long road to evolve into a Haxorus." Axew came back to Iris and presenting them to Iris. She takes one and takes a bite. "It's delicious!" She pets Axew on the head.
"Those tusks came in handy," Cilan said.
"Thank you, Axew," Iris said.
"That kind of praise makes Axew happy. No wonder he's off to get more fruit," Cilan said.
"Be sure that you don't go too far away," Iris told Axew.
"I have to say, I was impressed by that Dragon Rage. And I saw what you meant by no good, but you'll get it right after some proper training," Sora said.
"Yeah, just by the looks of that explosion, it's easy to see Axew's potential is huge," Cilan said.
"You think so? Thank you, guys!" Iris said.
"How about you battle either me or Kairi," Sora suggested.
"You know, it's wirth a try. It certainly looks like Axew's up for it," Cilan said. "And a battle with either Sora or Kairi will have the feel of the real thing."
"No way. I don't want to lose!" Iris said, taking another bite of the apple.
"Why not? You didn't have that kind of problem battling Sora with your Deino," Ventus said.
"Well, that was before I knew what I was getting myself into, I mean, before I knew he's a Pokémon League Champion, winning the Pokémon Leagues in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh," Iris said. "And after seeing Kairi in the Striaton City Pokémon Contest, I knew Axew wouldn't fare so well with Angel," Iris said.
"That makes sense," Terra said.
"But you'll never be in a real Pokémon battle with that kind of attitude," Ventus said.
"Maybe so," Iris said.
"Also, you never told us how you got Axew. You already know about me and Pikachu," Sora said.
"I would like to hear that as well," Cilan said. Iris looked down to the ground, and then up to the sky.
"He was a gift," Iris said.
"A gift?" Kairi asked.
"From who?" Cilan asked.
"I got Axew from an elder," Iris said.
"An elder?" Ventus asked.
"Right. An elder of the Village of Dragons; my hometown. It's a village where they specialize in raising Dragon Type Pokémon," Iris said.
(Flashback)
Iris was sitting on her knees before an elder. The streets of the Village of Dragons has Axew, Deino, Fraxure, and Zwelious going around. A basket with a top is sitting next to the elder.
"Iris, the moment of your great trail has finally come to pass," the elder spoke.
"Yes, elder," Iris replied. She reomves the top.
"And so, I'm giving you this Axew for you to train," the elder said. The baby Axew looked right at Iris, and she looked back at him. "You and Axew will journey together."
"Yes, ma'am," Iris said, taking Axew in her arms.
"Raising Axew into a magnificent Haxorus, will lead to your own growth. The truth is, this little Axew has emerged from its egg just a few short days ago. If you get to know Axew's heart, you'll raise it to be strong. And the path you take Axew will be your choice," the elder said.
"Right," Iris replied.
"As you go, know that the true meaning of becoming an adult is to raise a Pokémon by learning its heart; becoming one with it. Do not ever forget what I have told you," the elder said.
(Flashback ends)
"And that's our story. Not long after that, I met up with all of you," Iris said.
"That's quite a story, Iris," Kairi said.
"And I can understand why you wanted didnt want Axew to battle me. Axew's not old enough to battle me and Kairi; not yet, anyway," Sora said.
"It must be very important to you, Iris," Kairi said.
"More than you think. I want Axew to be the strongest Haxorus as he could be. I have to work on it and fast," Iris said. "Right, Axew?" No answer came. "Axew?"
"Where did those three go?" Iris asked.
"I hope they haven't gone too far," Aqua said.
"With Team Plasma on the loose, we can't take any chances," Terra said.
Over to Axew he was close to some more apples in the tree he was on.
"Axew, be careful while you're up there!" - Angel subtitle.
"I'll get him down!" - Pikachu subtitle. He climbs up to the tree. "Be careful, Axew." - Pikachu subttile. Axew didn't listen and reached for an apple, and felt it about to break, making Pikachu flinch. Axew took a couple of small steps and picked one. Axew then fall.
"AXEW!" - Pikachu and Angel subtitle. Axew fell in the bushes underneath and landed on the head of a sleeping Scolipede, getting stuck between the horns. It wakes up and attempts to shake Axew off. Scolipede starts to run off as Pikachu and Angel swung Iron Tail at the megapede Pokémon. The attacks bounces off as Scolipede sends the Pokémon couple flying. They both hit a tree.
"Are you okay, Angel?" - Pikachu subtitle.
"I'm fine. Thank you for asking." - Angel subtitle. Pikachu smiled. The tender moment is ruined when Scolipede comes charging at them. Axew struggles. They avoided the large Pokémon, sending the tree flying. It chases after the Pokémon couple as Axew prepares to use Dragon Rage. Axew attempts to unleash it, but it results in an explosion.
"What was that?" Iris asked.
"Either that's a smoke bomb, or it's Axew's Dragon Rage," Sora said.
"Either way, I'm going!" Iris said, swinging on a vine. The rest of the group follows Iris as Pikachu and Angel both came out.
"Pikachu!" Sora exclaimed.
"Angel!" Kairi added.
"Where's Axew?" Sora asked.
"You three were together!" Iris said.
Pikachu explaining to the group of the situation, taking the shape of Scolipede, and then Axew.
"What's Pikachu trying to say?" Terra asked.
"Pikachu is trying to tell us that a large purple Pokémon is chasing after them with Axew on top," Meowth translated.
"A big purple Pokémon?" Ventus asked. He got his answer when Scolipede emerged from the bushes, trying to shake off Axew.
"Axew!" Iris gasped.
"I'm going to guess that's the big purple Pokémon," Sora said.
"It's a Scolipede," Aqua said. The Scolipede approaches the group as they winced.
"Here she comes!" Kairi gasped.
"Run!" Sora and Ventus yelled as Scolipede gave chase. Scolipede spews a purple substance from her mouth, melting a rock.
"She just used Toxic!" Cilan gasped.
"Axew, no!" Iris called out. Scolipede spews another Toxic.
"Look out!" Ventus yelled, grabbing her. It struck the tree behind her.
"Kairi, Cilan, lets handle this Scolipede and help Axew!" Sora said.
"Indeed!" Cilan agreed.
"You can count me in!" Kairi said. They each took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Patrat!"
"Come on out, Snivy!" Sora called out.
"Pansage, let's go!" Cilan called out.
The Pokémon awaited their instructions.
"Pansage! use Bullet Seed!" Cilan ordered. Pansage unleashed Bullet Seed and shot at Scolipede's feet. Scolipede stopped, and lowered her head, and then raised it up.
"Grab it by the horns with Vine Whip!" Sora ordered. Snivy unleashed Vine Whip and grabs Scolipede. Scolipede sends Snivy flying. Sora catches her in his arms. "Okay, Snivy's Vine Whip didn't work." Sora calls Snivy back.
"Patrat! Use Bite!" Kairi ordered. Patrat jumped to land a bite, but she bats Patrat with her head. "She's too strong!" She calls Patrat back. Iris took a few steps forward.
"Stand back!" Iris said.
"You're going to use Deino against that Pokémon?" Ventus asked.
"It's not Deino. It's another Dragon Type that I have been saving up," Iris said.
"You had another one this whole time?" Aqua asked. Iris hesitated for a moment.
"Druddigon, let's go!" Iris called out. Her Druddigon came out and it was laying on its side.
"A Druddigon?" Ventus asked.
"I'm going to guess you're still in a bad mood," Iris said.
"You mean your Druddigon has a really bad attitude?" Ventus asked.
"That's one way of putting it," Iris sighed. Iris's Druddigon yawned.
"Talking about a lazy Pokémon," Ventus said.
"Please, Druddigon, you gotta help me out," Iris pleaded. Druddigon yawned again. Iris growled. "Okay, fine! Who needs your help anyway? I'll have to do it myself! Sora, Cilan, Kairi, make sure Scolipede doesn't go anywhere!"
"Are you sure?" Cilan asked.
"I am! This is the trail that the elder told me about! It's my duty! Axew's my responsibility!" Iris said.
"Then, we're with you, Iris!" Kairi said. Sora took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Come out and help, Tepig!" Sora called out. Tepig came on out to help.
"Pansage! Use Solar Beam on Scolipede!" Cilan ordered.
"Tepig! Use Ember! Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered.
"Angel! Use Swift!" Kairi ordered.
Tepig unleashed Ember as Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt, as Angel unleashed Swift. Pikachu, Angel, and Tepig shot at her feet.
"Now!" CIlan called out. Pansage unleashed Solar Beam and struck Scolipede.
"Iris, now!" Sora said.
"Right!" Iris said, swinging from a tree by a vine and grabs Axew by his foot. She lands on her feet. Sora and Cilan calls back Tepig and Pansage, but Scolipede was still mad. "Uh-oh."
"She's still mad," Iris said. Scolipede gave a careless kick onto Druddigon. One last kick sends Druddigon flying. It lands head-first on a rock. The group turned to see Druddigon was in a real bad mood. Druddigon let out a mighty loud roar, making the Pidove and Tranquil fly away.
"I'm going to guess Druddigon isn't happy about having its nap time interuppted.
"Well, you wouldn't be happy either if you woke up very rudely," Meowth said.
"Iris, I think you should give Druddigon a command, and fast," Sora said.
"Why? He won't do a thing I said," Iris said.
Scolipede unleashed Toxic, but Druddigon steps to the side and came at Scolipede with his claws glowing metallically.
"Druddigon's using Metal Claw!" Ventus said. Druddigon lands a successful blow with Metal Claw. Scolipede come charging at Druddigon.
"And a strong one as well," Aqua said. Druddigon slashes Scolipede with Metal Claw and then swipes at Scolipede with Dragon Claw.
"Now, Druddigon used Dragon Claw!" Terra said.
"Druddigon is incredibly powerful. And underneath that power is a hint of battling flavor!" Cilan said. Iris was at awe by how well Druddigon was battling without Iris's instructions. Scolipded comes at the cave Pokémon again, only to be tossed right up in the air and back down to the woods.
"Sorry for bothering you, ma'am!" Meowth said. Druddugon has let out a victorius roar.
"Druddigon sure seems to be satisfied," Cilan said.
"I can't believe you kept that one a secret. I honestly had no idea you had quite a powerhouse!" Sora said. Iris and Axew went towards the cave Pokémon.
"Druddigon, thanks for helping us like that!" Iris said.
"You were amazing," Kairi said. Druddigon laid back on his side and yawned.
"Back to that, huh?" Cilan asked. Iris calls Druddigon back inside.
"Nothing ever changes. But I know one thing; one day, we're going to battle together," Iris said. She bent down to Axew. "Axew, are you okay?"
"Axe!" Axew said.
"I'm so sorry if it turned out to be a scary day for you," Iris said.
"Axew!" Axew said.
"You know, battling is an art form. And it takes time to perfect; just like the art of cooking," Cilan said.
"Huh?" Iris asked.
"You just need to relax, and train with Axew at your own pace; of course the same can be said with Druddigon as well, naturally," Cilan said.
"Thanks, we will," Iris said.
"I have an idea of how to help you out along the way," Sora said. He pulled out a small doll that resembles a small green dinosaur. "You can try this. Think of it as Axew's own personal punching bag."
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"You sure about this, Sora?" Iris asked.
"I'm sure. It'll come in handy when you're training Axew. Maybe he'll learn some new moves along the way," Sora said. Iris smiled.
"Thanks a lot, Sora," Iris said.
